That's good news! :happyclap:

Other kids exposing your daughter will of course still be the wild card. I wish there was some way to eliminate or prevent lice large scale. Something that could safely be taken or placed in the school as a preventative.

I bet someone comes out with something like that someday. Lice affects too many children/families.

Yuck.

I wish that too. It's a world wide problem. Our daughter's pediatrician said it's especially bad this year too. She said something like 1 in 10 kids they are seeing are coming in with head lice.

Hey gang! Sorry it's been so long since you heard from me. I tend to disappear from time to time from the internet. How the hell are you all?

Quick update: I went back to Nebraska to see my kin. ;) Had a wonderful time, although it did make me pretty nostalgic. I was glad to come back to Taiwan though, and have a whole pile of changes waiting for me. I just moved into a new place with a lot more space and for the same price. It's quieter, a little bit outside the main city in the hills. However, the public transportation here is the best in the world so I can get anywhere in notime flat. My job is changing, the school is under new management, but it should be a good change as I will have more freedom in the format of the lessons.

Hope everyone is doing well. Talk to you soon.

Hey Sirus!! Long time no talk! Its good to see you. :)

Glad things are well for you. A more roomy apartment at the same price sounds good. :D

Hope the new management at your job works out too.

Things are doing okay for me. No major changes to report in my life. :)

This message board has undergone some changes though (conversion to ZetaBoards boardware/new themes, etc.). Might take a little getting used to for you. We have a great new built in Avatar Gallery. I plan to add some Star Trek themed avatars soon.

Was that a Sirus sighting? Quick... pin him down. Lock the doors. Close the windows. Don't let him out. LOL.

Nice to see you again Sirus.

Dang, I missed the Sirus sighting. Glad to know things are going well for our friend across the Pacific.

Been busy myself lately what with 2 grandsons playing summertime ball games, the granddaughter turning one, and the usual workplace dramas. The fellow that we had hired for my department just prior to my surgery has left us to take care of personal issues, so I'm short-handed again. I still hold hope that the big wigs will replace him. But, oh joy, that means I would get to train someone else all over again.

Today was our workplace's annual give-back-to-the-community volunteer work day. We performed trail maintenance in one of the local open space parks. (Since I like to hike, I may as well help build and maintain the trails). About 6 of us helped widen a trail again to the standard 3-feet that the parks like to see, and when we finished that task, we started pulling non-native weeds. My arms and hands are a little sore tonight because weilding a pickaxe isn't part of my normal routine. But the parks personnel were pretty nice, allowing us to quit work early because the temp climbed to 98 today. :whew: When we got back to the trailhead, they had ice cream bars waiting in a cooler for us. :thmbcool:

Tomorrow my nephew and I are doing a 4-mile loop hike on Mount Evans. Although I've already walked up Evans twice by different routes, I'm excited to finally be getting up to 14,000 feet elevation this season, and this will be our first 14er together. Maybe I'll come back with some more mountain goat pics for the blogosphere board. Tomorrow's weather forecast says the temp should reach 100 in Denver; I'll probably be reluctant to come back down from the cooler air at such a high elevation (it'll probably be a comfortable 70-75 up there).

Looking forward to seeing the pictures! :happyclap:

Also, the "4-mile loop" bit sounds reasonable too.

Kind of surprised you get 100 degree weather in Denver for some reason. Might be because we see so many pictures with snow (i.e. from your hiking trips). That's usually at a higher elevation though. :D

Hey everybody! I'll try to come here when the rest of you are around. Time zone is a major pain for me trying to communicate with folks back home. I still haven't properly thanked everyone for the good time they showed me. Two weeks of vacation is a good long time. I haven't taken that much time off since I got married.

Trip back was nice too. I'll work on the picture thing. I finally figured out why it wasn't working. My camera takes 7 megapixel pictures, which is too much for most sites to upload. I have to adjust each of them before I post them. But now that I'm moved in, I'll get to work on that. As always people kept asking me when I am coming back. The sad truth is I can't really afford to go back to Nebraska to live as much as I'd like to be near my family. The economy is still in the toilet in the U.S. has been for the last year. I'm still losing money out of my retirement, and I still make more money here doing less work than I would in the states.

Anywho, great to hear about what's happening with the rest of you. Let me know when you all usually chat so I can mosey on in for a spell. (Going back to Nebraska always refreshes my Midwestern euphamisms) :D Have fun on the hike Tibble! And show us some pics! Talk to you all again soon.

Sirus,

Sounds good. Are there any major cities close by to where your family lives that might have better employment opportunities?

Well I check in here every few days. I'm mostly spending time with my guy and Cindy (although Cindy tends to spend a lot of time away with her friends).

We're just enjoying a nice warm summer, going for walks most days (So I can show Joe around the City, he's enjoying it so far). We're already trying to figure out how we'll see each other next year. So I've printed out Canadian Passport application forms for Cindy and I. That's right, we're going to Scotland next year around this time. I'll be finished college by then, and be leaving the country before looking for work. When I return, I'll be possibly moving cities (within my province) to work.

I don't really know what else to say...there isn't that much news.

:wave2:
