What do you do in a case like that? Blow into a paper bag?
Everyone do their taxes yet? |

Stuff like that never worked for me. Paper bags, teaspoon of sugar, water, scaring... The hiccups just went away on their own as usual.
All done. |

^^^ The teaspoon of sugar works every time for me to get rid of hiccups. Taxes are finished, mailed, and the refund is already in my checking account. I always claim zero deductions so that I'm sure to never have to pay in and can always count on getting some money back in April ... just in time for my vehicle insurance bill. |

Really? I was beginning to think it was an old wife’s tale.
Did you do direct deposit? You get the refund even quicker that way. Taxpayers are also getting extra money through an Economic Stimulus bill that Bush advocated for and Congress recently passed through. So that will be an extra $300 per person. The amounts go up depending on whether or not someone is married with or without children. |

We heard that you loved bunnies, so we decided to do something special for you. Nahh, we had an Easter Avatar contest. We just need to finish voting. We can then declare a winner, hand out prizes and put our old avatars back up. ![]() |

I think I'm keeping my bunny wabbit for a while. I'm liking her. She has attitude like Zelda.
Took mine ten days! Woohoo!
Inspection time for me. One of those 45K maintenance thingys that cost an arm and a leg.
Down here these parts they call that "Bush Money". Don't ask me why. I've heard varying stories about this money coming from the Economic Stimulus Package. Where's the catch here? Is this money an advance of some kind on next year's refund? Do we have to pay this money back? Do we pay taxes on this money? If anyone has any concrete news about this please share. |

^^ Okay, I need to correct my original comment about the Stimulus money. The notice I got in the mail from the IRS states that those who filed a tax return for 2007 may be eligible to receive up to $600. $1,200 for married couples. $300 for each child. It is a one-time payment. You shouldn't have to pay any of it back. The payments will start going out in May. How they determine the exact amount, they don't mention. For people who don't file a tax return, but somehow make at least $3,000 a year... they could potentially receive $300. |

Darn, real life is getting in the way of posting again.
At work, we've been upgrading our bandwidth and installing a new phone system all week. At home, it's been kind of rough. Due to a recent amendment passage which decreased property taxes, Florida it cutting its funding for Education ('cuz we do so well in that area in this state...). My wife is a teacher for adults with developmental disabilities and the particular grant that funds her job is part of the cuts. So she gets to find another job at the end of the school year. Taxes: Mine were finished about 2 weeks ago. I'm just waiting for the check now. 24, on the stimulus check, I think you're right that you don't have to pay any of it back, but I also heard (but am not sure if it's accurate) that it will be viewed as income and so will be figured into your 2008 taxes. Since those taxes won't be removed from the check itself, it could change a refund to money owed next year or substantially reduce a refund or even increase money owed depending on a person's situation. Hiccups: I found out that I can stop hiccups as follows: I focus on the area of my throat that contracts during the hiccup, breath very slowly and controlled, and do my best not to let that area contract. If I can successfully do that long enough to prevent 1 or 2 hiccups from occurring, then they will be gone after that. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries because a hiccup slips through, but it works every time otherwise. Avatars: I'm pretty sure that truck is running away from a bouncing elephant. I also like Mel's (new?) avatar. (I have been around relatively little lately so I'm not positive whether it's new, but today is the first time I saw it.)

What is involved with upgrading your bandwidth? New servers...deleting old data...that kind of thing?
Sorry to "hear" that. Hopefully she will find something again soon.
That wouldn't surprise me. There is usually a catch.
I will have to give that a try the next time I get hiccups.

I hope TribbleMom has survived the company move this week. I haven't seen any news stories about a frantic lady running down the streets of Denver ripping her hair out...yet.
