I've just awaken from a turkey coma.

It's over.

Did anyone go shopping on Black Friday? I must confess. I was at the mall at 4am. I am ashamed.

Why why why? What possessed me to do something as stupid as that? The line at Kohl's (I don't know if they have that store where you all live) was sooooo long that it wrapped around the entire store. There was a point where the line intersected somewhere in the middle and people didn't know where the end of the line was. I asked someone where the end of the line was and she kind of shrugged and said, "Beats me if I know where it is."

Of course there was no store employee to be found in the back of the store....

I wasn't about to let go of the Aerobed that was half priced only until 11am. I clutched that package like it was a life preserver and I was drowning in this sea of viscious, viscious women. (Yes, 95% of the people there were women).

I did something embarassing. I picked up a flyer from the floor and called the 866 number listed on the back of it.

:frustphone:

"Para espanol, primo el numero cinco"
No way Jose, El managero por favor

Press pound Intrepid, you'll get a human being :pullhair:

" :blah: :blah: :blah: " Press 1
" :blah: :blah: :blah: " Press 2
" :blah: :blah: :blah: " Press 3

*Press 3* :laughbounce:

"Century III Kohl's... Debbie speaking, may I help you?"

"Gotcha ..... can I tell you what I really want to say? No, I better tone it down.

"Good morning. I'm a customer in your store this very second. There is chaos in the back of the store and your assistance is needed immediately. I would hate to lose my spot, but if I have to come get you in your office, I will. Please come to the back of the store and make some semblance of these so called lines".

I don't think she knew how to take it but in five minutes, she was there trying to head off a mini riot. I did thank her personally and everyone felt better knowing they weren't standing there for nothing. Another hour and a half, I was at the front paying for my treasure. The line didn't seem that long because everybody started talking and the mood was much, much better.

If I had a teenage child, she'd be totally embarassed.

After that, I was at Home Depot at 6 am and got my dad that Gorilla ladder he wanted.

That's it. I'm done. I don't feel like shopping anymore... ever. :bluebanana:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

That's outrageous!

I didn’t go anywhere near a department store because I knew it would be a freakin’ nightmare. You pretty much confirmed that Intrepid.

I did a quick trip to the library to drop off some books. On my way home I stopped to gas up the car, and then picked up a burger and onion rings.

The extent of my travels for that day. :D

We have Kohls in this general area too.

Wow. You women must really love shopping. I'd avoid it like the plague.

SOME women love to go shopping. I usually only go out of necessity.

I almost always avoid shopping the day after Thanksgiving. As I did this year. :P

Me thinks Big Boss would have been one of those in line if it was a game console that was being offered half price.

Where's Big Boss? :P

I don't care that much for shopping ... specifically, browsing. Usually when I go to a store, I just go get what I need and get outta there as fast as I can.

I took my mom to the museum (Titanic artifact exhibit) on Black Friday instead of shopping.

I'm not having such a good morning today. It appears that my 18-year-old cat isn't feeling well (that's about 90 in Human years). I'm taking a "sick" day from work and hoping to get him into the vet to see what's going on. I'm pretty sure there's a urinary tract infection, but who knows what else. At his age, I may be looking at putting him down today, depending on what the vet finds. :cat:

Thanks for the kind support. The vet said that there was indeed a urinary tract infection, very high white cell count. However, they checked his kidneys and everything else seemed fine. In fact, the vet was rather amazed that all his other functions were doing so well in his advanced age. She said he was otherwise quite healthy, so there was no need presently to consider euthanasia. For now, we're treating the UTI with antibiotics, checking him again in 2 weeks, and going from there. :whew:

Of course, he wasn't pleased at all with the trip to the vet. He howls in the car on the way because he knows he'll get poked and prodded rudely. But now that he's home again, he's curled up in a sun spot in the south room and seems a bit happier.

Unfortunately my eye was irritated for most of the day because of it. I should have rinsed the eye as soon as it happened.

Okay people of KOT.

I've decided to use this for the avatar competition. What I really really wanted was a purple cow that went "moo!" but this will have to do.

I wonder if there's anything political about that. I can't figure it out either.
He is looking better as he gets older though, I'll have to admit that.

Guess he just isn't my cup of tea.
