I have never done Karaoke. I'm afraid I would clear out the joint when I started singing.

Hi, folks ... I'm popping back in again. It's been a tremendously frustrating month at work struggling with a new software that doesn't work very well, so I could barely even look at another computer when I got home at night. Sorry I was gone so long. Things aren't going that well even yet with the new system, and it looks like they won't ever, but I'm becoming accustomed to what I have to do to work around it. All I can do is work with the crappy tools they give me.

Enough of that ... IE, congrats on your daughter's recent honor.

Mel, how's the starship model coming along? A number of years ago I had done a model of the original Enterprise from the movies (the 1701A style). Unfortunately it did not survive a crash landing on the floor. Keep yours in a stable and safe place.

Intrepid, I hope you're done with those really long shifts. That can be quite exhausting.

TribbleMom,

I haven't actually started yet. I need to figure out how to get compressed air into the airbrush kit, so I can start painting the large pieces(ie, the hull.).

But yes, I'll be sure to keep it in a safe place. My cat can be a danger to fragile things.

Man, that is exactly what I feel like doing most days!

Thanks for the welcome back ... I've missed all you folks here, but I just didn't have the energy to look at another computer screen for a while there.

You're welcome. :hello:

For anyone interested, there is a repeat Bionic Woman’s “Second Chances” episode coming on at 8:00pm EST tonight.

The Remastered Metamorphosis (TOS) is on tonight at 8:00pm too on the CW channel. I don't really like that episode all that much, so I am going to skip it tonight.

Also, if you want to get a look at a younger Zoe Saldana (cast as Uhura in the upcoming Star Trek XI) she is in a movie called Center Stage coming on at 9:30pm EST tonight. That will be on the Oxygen Channel. She is about seven years younger and plays a stubborn ballerina student, but you can get a sense of the strength she can bring to a role.

As a side note, I found a channel that is playing Christmas music! Woo! I'm listening to it right now. :rotfl:

No, you guys aren’t going to come back tomorrow to find a Christmas kaleidoscope of red colors on the board. :P *giggle*

24. A kaleidoscope of red colors would be fun. Yeah.

I still haven't caught that last episode of Bionic Woman. I'll catch it tonight at 8PM then. Thanks for the heads up. As a matter of fact, I missed the last episode of Heroes as well. I finally have some time to watch TV and guess what's on? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on ABC Family. "Kowabunga"......

Glad to see Tribblemom is up for air.

Knock em dead at karaoke Mel. Show no shame. Have no mercy.
Can't think of anything poetic or prophetic to say right now.

Apparently they are showing "Second Chances". Which was one of the first episodes.

Not sure when they will re-air "The Education of Jaime Sommers" (the last episode).

I use to love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

I just realized that while I was on the computer. I looked and it said
11:15am. It feels like I've been on this computer longer than that.
I guess I better go around the house changing clocks. The clock on the microwave always seems to give me trouble.

I went around and changed all of mine last night.

Which caused me to stay on the computer even later last night! :rotfl:

I can't believe they are going ahead with Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (Mummy 3) without Rachel Weisz.

Brendan Fraser will be in the movie as Rick O'Connell though.

They cast Maria Bello to play the role Rachel played (Evelyn). I like her in some parts, but I just don't see her as an adequate replacement for the character. I hope they at least dye her hair brown.

Wow, did I ever need that today ... finally got back to the mountains for a walk.

It had been 7 weeks since I last went to the high country. Way too long! Just too much overtime at work and family activities. But scenery like this today helped me feel a lot better. I got a good dose of sunshine, which helps a lot now that the sun is setting earlier with the time change. (I have a mild case of Seasonal Affective Disorder and can get depressed when I don't get much sunlight). There was also a lot of wind, unfortunately, or I might have walked further to get more scenery. Hope you enjoy these pics.

Those are really nice TribbleMom. I especially like the first and the fourth photos.

What kind of trees are those? They look Spruce trees.

Would make a beautiful Christmas tree.

Yes, a lot of those trees are spruce. The blue spruce is our state tree. We also have a number of different pines (ponderosa, lodgepole, etc.) as well.

Unfortunately we're having a nasty invasion of pine beetles in various areas of the state. The beetles are working their way from the west side of the Continental Divide to the east side now. The only thing that kills the beetles is a prolonged period of intense cold in the winter, and the last few winters have been too warm. The beetles leave behind large swaths of naked, dead trees, which dramatically increases our forest fire danger. The National Forest Service can't keep up with cutting down all the dead trees from so many large areas.

Forgot to mention that the lake in the first pic is the same one we're looking down on in the 2nd pic. That view from the 4th pic was the main reason why I went on that walk ... I just adore that scene.

Wow! Just looking at those pictures gives you a calming effect. My personal favorites are #1 and #2. Is that a little bit of snow I see on the ground there TribbleMom? How cold was it?

Beautiful. Beautiful.

Sounds like a lot of destruction.

No natural predator for the pine beetle?

Why does Celine Dion get such a bad rap (regarding her talent)?

I think she has a beautiful voice. And she can really sing a Christmas carol.

Okay, so she over did it back when there was all of that Titanic promotion, but still she is very talented.

My Heart Will Gone OnNNNNNNNNNNN.... *Beats her Chest* :rotfl:

Yes, that was some snow on the ground -- just not a lot of it yet. If it hadn't been for the wind, it would've been a really pleasant day. But the strong wind had me bundled up in my stocking cap, fleece face mask (covers cheeks, nose, & mouth), and a parka shell over 2 layers of fleece tops. I looked like a Ninja. :lookoutfear:

The pine beetles really don't have many predators. They burrow deep into the trees, so about the only predators that can do them in are woodpecker-family birds. But there's just so many more of the beetles than the birds. One pair of pine beetles can produce up to 75 offspring. There are some chemical control options, but the tree has to be treated before becoming infested. Otherwise, it will take sub-zero temps sustained over a period of at least 5 or more days to kill the beetle larvae before they hatch in spring.

Re: Celine Dion, do you think the bad rap has anything to do with her doing a steady Las Vegas gig instead of touring?

Could be.

A lot of singers did/do their Vegas thing and it didn't seem to hurt their reputations though.

I think it has more to do with her non-vocal activities (i.e. her lifestyle) and that she is so easy to spoof.
