I guess I don't cringe, but I don't care much for that word, either.

Guess what? It's my first day off from work in 10 days, and a cold front has come through, bringing heavy clouds and sporadic rain. What lovely timing.

Our computer system change isn't going well at work (have you ever heard of one that did?). We've got new hand-held scanning guns to use when tagging our new incoming retail product, but everyone is having trouble logging on to them. The system I am supposed to use for doing merchandise returns doesn't have any of the necessary entry fields for a lot of the information I need to put in, so our internal computer folks have created another separate database that we'll be using instead ... except they can't tie it into our inventory system. :pullhair:

I'm equating this whole situation to this: I've been given a wooden board and been told to cut it exactly in half, and then was given a hammer to do it with.

I've never found out who in our company decided this would be a good system to change over to, but when I do ... :stuffhitsfan: :frust: :taz:

I know we'll get this worked through some day.

You're the right person for the job Tribblemom. It will be done. You will do it. But how I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the :stuffhitsfan:  Give them your constructive criticism.

I had a pretty peaceful weekend. I went to a hockey game last night and pretty much enjoyed it. It amazes me to see that some of these players are a mere 18 or 19 years old. Boy am I feeling old.

Enjoy your Sunday everybody. Does anyone have Monday off? I don't.

I'm sure it's someone very high up in our organization, and if I wish to keep my job I will have to use euphemisms such as "it's challenging" and "a unique opportunity" instead of saying, "This system is a piece of crap for what we need it to do."

That sounds like fun. I have never been to a hockey game in person. Have always wanted to, but haven't had the chance yet.

Those guys are young. The players used to be older and bigger. Now they are younger and smaller. There was a big change over in rules a few years back which is supposed to attract and accomadate smaller faster players. Not neccesarily the bulkier types.

Personally, I always enjoyed hockey being rougher. Nothing like two big hockey players checking each other.

I am just hanging out doing nothin' constructive today.

It is Thanksgiving in Canada on Monday, so at least two of our members are probably off.

Just noticed that Bravo is showing the Pilot episodes for Journeyman and Bionic Woman at 2:00pm and 3:00pm (respectively).

BTW, thanks for the kind words of encouragement, Intrepid and 24. I'm trying to kick back and really relax today to recharge my batteries for getting through this next week.

I forget, has the Canadian Thanksgiving Day always coincided with Columbus Day in the U.S.?

They are both currently celebrated on the second Monday of October.

That may not have always been so though.

The actual anniversary for Columbus Day is October 12th (1492).

Yep, I'm off from classes today. :)

Cooked a tofurkey dinner for Cindy and I Saturday. It was yummeh.

Then I went to dad's yesterday for some side dishes..

I've been invited to a neighbour's house for dinner today, but I'm feeling a bit PMSish so I might politely decline. I might just do the little cleaning I need done in here and then curl up with a blanket and a hot water bottle on my belly. Thank goodness I have a laptop now. :D

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadian here, Wissaboo. :)

And Happy Columbus day to all others.(except Pineapple) :wave2:

Thank you. :)

I took another day off today. My bellyache won't go away, so I'm curled up on the sofa again.

^^ Drugs (OTC)... that's the ticket. ;)

Speaking of drugs, did y'all hear about Marion Jones admiting that she doped up (used steroids) for the 2000 Olympics? She has given back her five gold medals and other prizes. Her relay teammates may have to give back their medals as well. She is banned from the sport for two years. She also may have some other legal troubles as a result of lying to investigators about using the drug (initially).

And I thought she was such a great role model for kids.

Here's a link to the story... LINK

Good evening!

Busy weekend. Tomorrow I'm going to get my eyes checked. My eyes get progressively worse every year. I might go an hour early to check out the frames. I think I might pick something outrageous this year.

How are you all doing? It's starting to get colder in the evenings. I love it. Good sleeping weather.

So what kind of frames did you end up getting? Have you tried some crazy Elton John type frames? :wow:

I'm doing okay. I like cooler weather too.

What do you think? I look like a total dweeb in them but I like the dweeb look.
I've been feeling very "dweeby" lately.

Anyway, there's a thirty day satisfaction guarantee thing so I can take them back if I'm not happy. But I think I'll be okay in these.

Without seeing you in them, I couldn't say for sure. Nothing wrong with the frames in general though.

So far I have been pretty lucky in the eye sight department. Haven't had to get glasses yet.

Btw, I have activated two features. You all now should be able to 1) Customize your member title in your profile section and 2) Attach a poll to any thread you start within a 24 hour period. The attach a poll link is located beside the "Track this Topic" link. Which is directly above the "Report" "Edit" "Quote" buttons. Its a standard link, not a button. Its a little hard to see with this skin, but will be more visible with the regular skin.
