Zero Gravity Café; General Chat Thread

I plan to see Transformers later today. I'm looking forward to it. I will post a review sometime.

The supposed run time (2:40 minutes) seems a bit long though.

As an aside, I have slowly been making name changes to forums/categories/threads to give the board a more Star Trek/Space feel too it. One of the remaining changes I will make will be the name of this Coffee Talk thread. I have wanted to change it for a while, but haven't quite come up with something. Although I am close to settling on a new name.

The reason for this thread name change is I want something that is not as widely used for general chat threads and something that will fit in more with the space/Star Trek theme of the Board.

Also, while I didn't see the name used when I initially chose it, I have seen it now at other sites. I don't want anyone to think I scammed the name from them.

Hello everyone! :hello:

Wednesday already!

You planning on another trip out of town this weekend, Intrepid? :ufo: :redcar:

Wow, time has really slipped away from me this week.

Intrepid, I'm glad to know you enjoyed your visit to Gettysburg. I can well imagine the somber air of the place, as a visitor no doubt can't help but think of the tremendous loss of life there. Well done on the 3-mile walk. Someday you can eventually build up to the "Billy Yank" trail.

BTW, the volunteer trail work this past weekend was not any kind of mandatory participation event. Our workplace just organized it for anyone willing. Our company bought lunch to thank us for participating. They provided pre-packaged sandwiches and wraps from Jason's deli, which always has good food. We left a pretty good-looking trail behind us at the end of the day.

24, belated congrats on the 5000 posts. And belated happy B-day to your mom. My oldest cat (my all-white "tribble") just turned 18 this month! Dang, he's ready for college! Perhaps that's a testament to Iams and Science Diet cat foods.

We only have about 10 more days left in Little League season ( :whew: ), and then maybe I'll have a bit more time for posting here when I'm not attending ball games.

I probably won't be around through this weekend. We're going to host our 2 grandsons for the weekend and give their parents a little alone time at home with their new baby daughter. Of course, we'll spoil the boys shamelessly and try to make them feel special, especially since baby sister is getting tons of attention now. Gee whiz, I start to feel old when I realize that there are 3 kids now who will call me grandma.

Monday I'm taking a vacation day from work to go hike up a mountain ... another "14er." This is one I missed doing last year and promised myself I'd get up it this year. Then I'm doing the same thing next Friday down south on Pikes Peak (of the "Pikes Peak or bust" gold rush fame). If I accomplish both of those, then I will have hiked all the peaks over 14,000 feet in the Front Range of mountains in Colorado. I'll have to find another range to complete after that, probably the Tenmile-Mosquito range (I've already got one under my belt from that range).

See you all again soon. :wave2:

Good Evening Ladies of KOT......

No trips this weekend 24. Gas is up to $3.00 a gallon. Maybe I should stay home this weekend. Besides, I'm trying to find someone to go with me to a Harry Potter party at one of the local bookstores here. I'm going to ask my nieces if they have plans for Friday night. "Deathly Hallows" goes on sale at midnight. :laughbounce: I promised myself I wouldn't get giddy and wait till the rush passed but nah....

TribbleMom...... enjoy the kids this weekend.

Hope you have a party-mate for the Harry Potter release. I intend to read the book sometime soon after it comes out, but I may wait for the initial rush to pass. Just don't tell me the ending! :ignore:

Good evening everyone! :hello:

I'm tired just from reading about all of TribbleMom's hiking!

I just heard George Clooney doing a voice over for a Budweiser commercial!

Speaking of Harry Potter, there are some crazy rumors flying all over the Internet about Deathly Hollows. Then a copy was supposedly leaked. I wish these bleeps would stop trying to ruin it for everyone.

Sometimes it feels like that's what I live for. Just to be able to get deep into the forest or high on top of a mountain, away from all the phones and cars and TV's and radios and whatever else makes noise in our modern world. I probably would make a good hermit. I'm really looking forward to Monday's hike, as I was in that area last year and I remember lots of beautiful wildflowers along the first 2 miles of that trail. And the view from the top ain't bad, either.

24, stay away from anything on the 'net that says Harry Potter! That's what I'm doing until I can read the book. I just hope I don't hear anything on TV about it.

Good morning good morning.....

I found someone to go with me to a Harry Potter book party tonight. Around 10PM we'll be lining up at the bookstore and get a "number" then at midnight we all get in line again and pay for the book. YEAH!

In the meantime we'll be roaming the bookstore, eating, buying more books probably, eating, looking at DVD's maybe, eating.... did I say eating?

Then I'll probably start reading as soon as I get home. LOL.... oh well.

TribbleMom,

The problem with staying away from HP related articles/comments is that spoilers are being placed in article/thread titles. Very annoying. I'm trying though. :D

Intrepid,

Are you going to dress up in costume? :wow:

Coffee Talk is now called Zero Gravity Café.

No costume 24 but I am wearing a round pair of glasses like Harry Potter's and I am wearing black tonight. We should be leaving in a little bit.

Zero Gravity Cafe... I like it.

Good morning everyone!

Hope you had a great time at the Harry Potter book party, Intrepid. :wow: :harrypotter:

I have added some highlight effects to the rows on the main board and the topic lists. They will show up when you move your mouse and hover over the rows. You can also click anywhere on the highlighted cell and it will take you to the forum or thread that is linked within the cell. Let me know if they work okay for you (aesthetically and functionally).

24, I like the name of the Zero Gravity Cafe. But how does one drink coffee in 0-G? :coffee:

Intrepid must be busy reading the latest Potter installation. I'll be getting mine sometime soon too. I saw a lot of people around town here on Friday & Saturday with the big round glasses and a lightning streak on their foreheads.

I'm off to bed early again tonight. I hope to climb my 6th "14er" mountain tomorrow (weather permitting). It's about an hour-and-a-half drive to the trailhead. One must always start those hikes early to be able to summit and begin descending before the customary afternoon thunderstorm clouds start to gather. It's not wise to be the tallest thing on the highest piece of ground when there's lightning around.

Very very carefully.

That would be a good question for an astronaut.

I unfortunately read another spoiler today by accident. I don't know if it takes place in the book, the movie or both. Either way, I'm ticked that I know now.

Have fun. :)

I think I'll go to bed early tonight too. I'm already yawning.

Goodnight everyone.

OMG... the book is so good. What an imagination this woman has. Anyway, I'm down to the last few pages and I'm starting to read slower. There's a sort of sadness knowing that there won't be another book after this. I haven't read any spoilers and I've been really careful not to read anything Harry Potter on the internet.

But it's such a good book. I should be finished by tonight.

Tribblemom. I guarantee you I won't be going on a hike with you for fear of you laughing at me when I pass out after mile ONE! Have a good time.

I look forward to reading the books someday.

I have little doubt that J. K. Rowling will take her place among the greats (Roddenberry, Lucas) for creating the world of Harry Potter.

Just checking in with you all to say I made it to the top of Torrey's peak and back safely. This is one of only 2 14,000+-foot peaks in Colorado that actually lies on the Continental Divide. A few clouds were building by 1:00pm, but I was already on my way back down. By the time the thunder started in around 2:15, I was pretty well out of harm's way. I actually love to hear thunder in the mountains ... it rolls around and bounces off those granite peaks for a long time, and given that I was hiking through a gulch, it sounded like it rolled all the way around me. And the wildflowers were blooming their little heads off!

Here's some photo links:

TribbleMom,

For some reason the links just redirect me back to the main PhotoBucket webstie. It could be that they aren't set to allow public viewing (?).

I'm sure they are beautiful though. :D

Same problem here TribbleMom.

I'll just sit here at wait till you fix those pictures. ;) :coffee: If I don't fall asleep that is. I shouldn't of stayed up till 3 in the morning knowing I had to be at work today.

Caffeine, it does the body good.
