Looks like we are. Today should be our 9th consecutive day in the 90's (or above!). Our last "cool" day was 88 degrees. This part of the state is actually considered to be high desert ... last summer Denver received less rainfall than Phoenix, but I think we have fewer days that reach over 100 degrees. You just keep going and remember to be liberal with the sunscreen and take a broad-brimmed hat whenever you go out. |

I remember seeing Bindi at her father's memorial service and was struck by how much poise and maturity she had in front of cameras and crowds. I'll bet she's been appearing in public most all her life already. What with the shows they put on at their zoo/theme park, she's probably been in the shows since she could walk. Do you think she's getting pimped, or is she trying to carry on her dad's work? |

I preface this by saying that in general, I think people don’t give kids enough credit in regards to awareness/intelligence. With that said, at the age of about 9 years old I think she is in no way old enough or mature enough to make such huge life decisions about carrying on the family tradition. I think its more about her mom pushing her into this. Bindi might just be enjoying it. Still... If she were a lot older (older teenager), then I might believe it were more about what she (Bindi) wanted. |

Good morning, KOT. I'm popping in for a minute in this busy week to announce that a granddaughter will be born today by Caesarian Section, probably about mid-day. I'll be a little busy doing the family thing for a couple of days, so see you later.

Perhaps Tribble-step-gran is the most accurate. Mom new daughter are both doing fine. The baby was just 2 ounces shy of 9 pounds, and since the mom is borderline diabetic, the docs didn't want to risk a prolonged birthing process messing with anyone's insulin levels. All seems to be well, and we're all feeling blessed. You can bet if the little tyke spends much time over at grandma's, she'll start to see Star Trek on a regular basis. I didn't get to indoctrinate her 2 older brothers during their formative years, but this little girl is a tabula rasa. Do you think if I keep whispering in her ear, "Spock is a hottie" that she'll be a TOS fan? |

^^ ![]() Glad everything went okay. Its late, but I can't stop snacking tonight. Sometimes you just have to pig out. I think it might have something to do with me watching Top Chef right now. All of the food they cook looks so good. I wish my TV was a Smellovision and a Tastovision too.

STOP WHERE YOU ARE 24 !!!!...... Put the pizza down and back away from the pepperoni very very slowly. Intrepid grabs the pizza and runs to her house leaving 24 stunned that Intrepid could scoop so low. It's a gift for the new baby and her mother. Tribblemom, I'm leaving tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. I've never been to Gettysburg ever and it's only 3.5 hours away from here. I think my next adventure will be to the Poconos. You know, the place where there are those huge martini glasses you can bathe in. oops.... did I just say that? You've inspired the travel bug in me. Besides, who wants to look at this pile of laundry and all the yard work that's calling my name. |

Y'all remember the Star Trek commercial where Shatner was added to a scene from TUC to promote Direct TV? Well now they are doing one with Segourney Weaver in Alien. At least it looked like it was from the first Alien movie. I haven’t watched them in a long time. She's in this robotic device fighting off an alien and then they do a close up shot of her pretending to be fighting off the alien while promoting Direct TV. ![]() Those commercials are well done.

^^^ Ooh, I gotta see that one. I always liked Sigourney in that movie. "Get away from her, you b****!" Loved her, too, in Galaxy Quest. What's on everyone's agenda this weekend? I know Intrepid is visiting Gettsyburg. I will be volunteering to help construct new hiking trails again (as I had previously done in June), but this time it's being organized through my workplace. As we are involved in the recreational sports industries (biking, skiing, golfing), our company owner feels it is important for us to give back to the community that supports us, so we hold a "volunteer work day" once a year where we do something to help promote recreation in our local area. Sunday, I'm spending the day with my mom. |

Yep, Segourney Weaver was good in Alien and Galaxy Quest.
This weekend I plan to take care of a few things I have been putting off. Get caught up. That sort of thing. Right now though, I am going to go eat some breakfast and watch a little TOS. ![]() Is the volunteering mandatory TribbleMom? Sort of takes away from the whole volunteer concept. At least it is something you probably would have done anyway without prompting.

We celebrated my mom's birthday today. We ate steaks, salad and various sides. I have eaten way more than I did today, but I feel like I am going to explode. It must be the potato salad making me feel fuller than I really am. ![]() <looks for the rolling around like a beach ball emoticon> Btw, the Lifetime channel is primiering two new shows tonight called Side Order of Life and State of Mind. I'm sure they will air again some other night this week if you miss them (and are interested). They look promising. |

Happy Birthday 24's Mom! I'm back from Gettysburg. I've never ever been there before. It's a whole lot more solemn that I thought it would be. You get an eerie feeling standing in spot so filled with historical reverence. Tribblemom, I know a three mile hike on flat land is nothing to you but I had the most fun going on the guided hikes. I took the "Johnny Reb" trail which took about 2 hours to complete. You walk from the Virginia Monument across the open field that General Pickett and his men charged in the famous Pickett's charge. The "Billy Yank" trail is nine miles long but I didn't have enough time to do it. Maybe next time. It's really nice to get out of town every once in a while...... |

Like Arlington National Cemetary in Washington, D.C, one should go if they get the opportunity. I hope to get the opportunity to go to Gettysburg some day. Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone!

Good morning and thanks. Although, I won't make Rear Admiral for another 1000 posts. I better get on that. Seems like a lot of posts, but KOT has been open for over seven months now. Time sure does fly.
