Continuum to premiere on Syfy on January 14th

Quote:

Syfy will begin airing Continuum, which joins Lost Girl and the upcoming Primeval: New World as acquisitions from Canada, on Monday, January 14th, at 8/7c. Continuum was Canada’s highest-rated scripted basic cable series when it aired recently.

Continuum stars Rachel Nichols (Criminal Minds, Alias) as Kiera Cameron, a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day. When a group of fanatical terrorists escapes their planned execution in 2077 by vaulting back in time to 2012, they inadvertently sweep along Kiera, a dedicated City Protective Services officer.

With unexpected assistance from teen tech genius Alec Sadler, played by Erik Knudsen (Jericho, Scream 4), Kiera infiltrates the local police department and forms an uneasy alliance with her new partner, detective Carlos Fonnegra, portrayed by Victor Webster (Castle, Melrose Place). Though desperate to get back to her husband and son, Kiera concentrates on bringing down the terrorists before they change the course of history.

The January 14 premiere of Continuum will lead into the third season premieres of Syfy’s hit series Being Human at 9PM and Lost Girl at 10PM.

Executive producers of Continuum are Simon Barry (The Art of War), Jeff King (Stargate SG-1, White Collar), Tom Rowe (Tin Man), Pat Williams (Smallville), and Reunion Pictures. Writer: Simon Barry. Director: Jon Cassar (24, Terra Nova).

In addition to the first two seasons for on-air, Syfy has also acquired the U.S. home entertainment rights to Continuum. Universal Studios Home Entertainment will handle the DVD distribution and are targeting a DVD release shortly after the season finale on Syfy.

I've seen the Pilot for this show, but never got into the series because it doesn't air here.

Now that it is coming to Syfy, I will definitely be tuning in.

Sounds like it could be interesting. As long as they don't get too caught up in creating absurd paradoxes.

Yep, they could lose me with that.

I forgot about the premiere of this series, but I have it set up now to record. I'll catch the premiere on a rerun.

I've seen the previews, but haven't been able to catch it. I tried to watch it late last night on a rerun but after a long day I dropped off before it really even got started.

I have two episodes waiting for me to watch on my DVR. Looking forward to it!

I've seen most of the first episode. I did like the part in that one where our heroine was interrogating one of the fugitives and suggested that, being in the past, she could make sure he was never born to begin with.

The latest episode is also getting a lot of rotation. So, I hope to catch it in the next day or so.

So, now that the series is in the past what did you guys think?

Personally, I liked it. I am not sure I caught the very last episode, but what I saw was very interesting. For me, it past the test on no "absurd paradoxes". Like my frustration with 12 Monkeys, I would have liked to have seen more of a resolution to the series. In that sense, it left me hungry for more. Even if they wrapped it up in the last episode, the characters were complelling enough that I would have enjoyed watching the show go into another season. On that score, I think it was a better series than 12 Monkeys.
