I've been absolutely pumped for Prometheus, this non-prequel, prequel to Alien. So.... I had to make a thread!

Who is excited?

AND here is the trailer:

Movie discussion needs to follow!

I have to admit it is one of the more interesting looking films coming our way. But after how far the franchise has gone down hill, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, it went bad when in particular they crossed the alien and predator franchises.

I'm looking forward to it, but June is a long wait. LOL.

I wonder what kind of cameos from the original franchise we can expect to see. :wow:

As my prometheus thread has appeared to gone walk about, I'll just post it in here:

First glance at the new "facehugger" which isn't really a facehugger at all anymore!

It was only about seven threads down in this Science Fiction forum. I moved your comments over to your thread for you. :D

I've seen him in X-Men: First Class and Hex. That was a enough for me to say that I like him! LOL.

^^LOL

Went to see the avengers yesterday, and they played the longest Prometheus trailer!! that was enough for me! They had it up that loud that it shook the cinema.

Anyway it's highly anticipated here - behind the counter where you purchase your tickets, they had a row of prometheus posters greeting you in the centre, and then they had more along the walls, I haven't seen so many since harry potter deathly hallows pt 2.

Apparently Alien & Aliens is rated R in America?! Here its only rated M - which means its unrestricted to all audiences! I think it should be at least MA 15+ that way its restricted to 15 year olds and over.

Anyway Prometheus has been rated R in America, I'd be curious to see how they rate it here.

The director was hoping for a "PG-13". However, Scott's films have tendency get "R" ratings and they still do very well. There was a time when Hollywood really did not have as much of a problem with making an "R" rated film like this one. Now, it is even more about massive box office returns and the fear is that the rating is supposed to keep anyone under 17 out. The conventional wisdom being, I guess, that so much of an audience is composed of adolescents.

Some movies I do think lend themselves to certain rating levels, or they should at least. I don't think any film in the "Alien" franchise has been less than an "R", so even if this one is only dealing with the same universe, I really don't see the rating being a problem. This universe has never really been aimed at young kids and I don't think they should start doing so now. I really don't need to see McDonald's Happy Meals with Xenomorph toy tie-in's!

Yeah, I agree with you but here is a copy of the australian rating system:

Alien and Aliens sit on 'M' and Alien 3 and 4 sit on MA. Prometheus hasn't been rated yet here, but I'm thinking it'll sit on that MA rating, it might even reach R....

X rating only exsists in one state, it sort of replaces the R raiting from other states. Its Weird.
