Who here uses a mobile/phone to access KOT?

I have been seeing more and more requests in the Resource world for the ZB people to provide a Mobile application for the ZetaBoards. They say one is coming, but I have no idea when it will arrive.

In the meantime, I could create a barebones theme with few to no images if that is something that you think you would find useful in accessing KOT while using a phone of some sorts?

I do, rarely. When I'm too lazy to put my computer on for a quick check. ;)

I do, but I don’t have much trouble loading the current them that I use. The issues I have aren’t with graphics but the layout of the board (for example the size of text boxes) and that is something you couldn’t change with a skin.

When Zeta makes their model interface I assume they will automatically detect a model user and their whole interface will change to suit a model device; that will definitely be useful.

Dante, when you say "size of text boxes", do just mean anywhere there is text on the board/Index?

I do have some leeway in redesigning the layout of the board. I've started working on a theme and I am reducing the size of a lot of boxes, space around text and removing images/boxes that just aren't necessary in that format (e.g Index Forum markers/boxes).

For example, Index markers will not display... LINK
(The theme color will probably change. I am working on an older imageless theme that I created, but never got around to finishing.)

So hopefully, it will be beneficial in some way when using a phone.

The themes here are quite compatible with my phone, actually. :) Especially Pumpkin Patch.

That is good to know. I know you really like Pumpkin Patch. Is there something about that theme that makes it extra compatible on the phone?

The width of the main box with in a thread (the box you are reading this from) could be smaller.

The width of the box used to type a post could be smaller.

The quote boxes that auto size and caused you to scrole if a quote is large enough doesnt work on my phone.

Those are the three things that make using a phone more dificult.

I have reduced the size of the theme to compensate for #1 and #2.

I am checking into #3.

Veerrrrrrrry rarely. I only check boards from my phone if I get a PM alert through my e-mail's SMS-FWD filter.

Hey, I don't even have a cellphone. So I can understand wanting to keep things simple. :D

My wife and I shared one for years. Although not too long ago we decided that with a little one around having one each for emergencies was a good idea.

I just wish that Tapatalk would include ZB in their list of supported boards.

I had never heard of that before, but Tapatalk looks pretty interesting. ZetaBoards tends to keep things pretty autonomous.

I wonder if Tapatalk needs to get permission from the ZB owner before it can even be added to their list of supported boards?

Dante,

Regarding the width of those boxes, are they not already resizing to fit your browser/phone?

The boxes automatically get smaller as you reduce the size of the browser window/resolution (they auto-fit). It should do the same on a phone.

Well, it's just too simple to not work on the phone. ;) But that simplicity makes it an awesome theme! :D
What I mean is, there are no three piece h2s, any other codes or such. ;)
