As most of you know, DW is aired on BBC-A. They will be airing these specials again at some point. I thought it would be nice to have a separate thread for them. I have seen some of these already, but I plan to watch them again when aired and review then. That way they will be fresh in my mind and I can comment more on them. They aired "The Christmas Invasion" recently already when they kicked off Series 2. You can catch "The Runaway Bride" on July 22nd.
**Open Spoiler Discussion for the Christmas Specials will follow on this thread.** |

The Christmas Invasion Here we see the first full episode with the new Doctor as he is regenerating. The episode starts off with a bang.... with the Tardis doing a hard landing in the street. Those masked Santas were pretty unChristmasy. Then the twirling Christmas tree threatens to shred the apartment, Jackie, Rose and Mickey to pieces. ![]() Kind of bizarre looking to see the energy occasionally leaving the Doctor’s body. I thought there was a good bit of humor in this episode… “Harriet Jones – Prime Minister” *holds up ID* “They might not be from Mars itself. Maybe they are not actual Martians. “Of course not. Martians look completely different. ![]() Love that death by fruit. Poor Sycorax… ![]() That was a surprise ending with what the PM did via Torchwood. Then the Doctor took her down by whispering six words to her assistant … that was impressive. The six words were not what I expected either. I think what I like most about this episode is the mixture of humor, optimism and cruelty. Situations and life are never cut and dry. Everyone was celebrating Christmas and the "snow", but that particular snow and the light show was courtesy of the destruction of the alien ship. |

You can catch repeats of "A Christmas Carol", "Christmas Invasion" and "The Runaway Bride" at different times on BBC-A this weekend. Just check your menu for times. Also, a new special called "Best of the Christmas Carols" tonight at 8:00pm EST with repeat airings over the weekend. It is a highlight of all specials. |
