Many towns upstate cancelled Halloween last night due to safety concerns in areas where power is still out.

At least things are supposed to warm a bit. Apparently the President made a Disaster declaration, which will allow for the opening of more shelters for those displaced by the outages, and the larger of the two power suppliers here expects to have over 3500 crews out on the job by Thursday. They will get help from the other company when they are done taking care of their own customers' needs.

The damage from the Nor'easter has been described as in many ways being worse than Irene.

They cancelled Halloween? That's a bummer for the kids. I hope they set an alternate night for them when the power is restored.

That is just terrible Retro_Fan. We were talking about that at work, all the snow and the canceling of Halloween. Where's Rudolph's red nose when we need it?? Hope everyone stays safe and warm......

A warm hug for Retro_Fan: :grphug:

 Thanks, Scooby

My real concern in situations like this are the seniors and youngsters. It seems that every times we get some kind of extreme weather condition, these poor folks lose their power. They are only now fixing the mess made by Hurricaine Irene back in August.

Oh no, that is worrisome. No power is a bad situation for many senior's. I sure hope the power comes back on quickly.

:coffee: Sending warm cocoa to Retro's side of the country!

It will be until at least Saturday until most of these people get their power on.

Yesterday morning there were still 1.7 million people in the Region without power.

New York City public works are trying to clean up almost 1,000 damaged/fallen trees in Central Park alone for this weekend's running of the New York City Marathon.

Towns that postponed Halloween are encouraging trick or treaters to go out over the weekend as long as it is safe to do so.

Don't think I don't know that you and all you're northwest cohorts are pointing your electric fans and blowers to push those clouds further south. I know what you're up to...

Not a bad day today in Michigan. Sunny and about 65 degrees outside. Was able to sit outside for lunch today at work.

We got snow Tuesday night, but not as much as they were calling for. A friend of ours was at DIA waiting for their plane when they posted a picture of some birds sitting in the airport at the gate. I asked if maybe the birds were waiting for a south bound plane ;)

It was cold this morning, but some of the snow did melt. The weatherman is calling for snow or freezing rain on Saturday. We'll see.

As of last night, still almost half a million people without power in Northern CT...out of state crews have been seen working in areas, but CL&P hasn't been very visible.

In Hartford, a woman and her family were told to leave a hotel they'd been staying at because they wanted to make rooms available for repair cews.

Hope everyone in the Northeast gets their power back and soon ;)

It's been kind of nice here, could use a bit more wind to dry the corn, but other than that it's not too bad. Hope we can combine tomorrow, before the next storm blows through

56 with bright sunshine outside today but quite blustery. Actually, it's a typical Autumn day.

Same here Retro_Fan. A beautiful sunny weekend with highs about 50 degrees. I feel so lucky to have my power on without any problems. What a crazy storm that was to hit the east coast..... Sending warm wishes their way......
