I don't know about this... A while back there was a movie out called Jonah Hex, a western based on a DC comic book. About 25 years ago in an effort to update the character DC changed the name to Hex and had him time travel to, you guessed it, a post apocalyptic future. Series didn't last very long. From the plot elements present in the article it sounds like the character will bear little resemblance to the original beyond the name. Now, while the Zorro character is probably marginal enough to do something like this to, it still seems like they are trying to take something familiar to influence potential audiences rather than risk creating a brand new, original character. |

^^ The previews of Jonah Hex were a major turnoff. I can't imagine that movie being good at all. Now that I think about it, if there is time travel involved that might be a huge turnoff. If the Zorro character is already born in this post-apocalyptic world, then I think the character would make more sense. Zorro is just a twist on the David and Goliath tale. That type of "good vs. evil", "against huge odds" is a story that has played out (and works) in many many forms. |

If they make the main character someone who is inspired by the "real" Zorro and takes on the cape and sword himself, I could deal with that. And hey, I liked Rocket Robin Hood, and have always wanted to see the idea revisited... |

I'd be fine if they went the route of someone who is alleged to be a descendant of the original. |

As long as Zorro himself doesn't time travel.... |

Why can't Hollywood come up with some brand new characters never seen before? Are they that lazy that they have to revisit and rehash everything now.....

That would be nice for a change. ![]()
There does appear to be very little originality. |
