I was sitting at a red light the other day and I looked over on the side of the road. I saw an old blackened cooking pan with metal adjustable metal rack/arms that could fold under the pan. Not sure of the purpose of these arms, but the way they were folded under made the pan look like it had legs. I kid you not, almost immediately upon seeing it I thought jokingly in my head... "Oh my god, its a replicator!!" ![]() The pan with metal legs looked like a low tech first generation looking replicator. ![]() So how about those replicators?? I thought they were one of the more interesting villains on Stargate because of how relentless and single-minded they were. I thought they were a bit more scary than the Borg actually. |

Very alien. A unique concept, weakened when Atlantis brought out human looking ones. |

Oh, these replicators made me watch Stargate with a lot of interest. Especially when they cloned Carter...

And their destruction was also an interesting thing. |

I do think Fifth was as scary as the basic mechanical spider replicators. |

I liked the replicators to a point. They were an original idea and were quite formidable. So they were entertaining at first. But after awhile I was disappointed when it was yet another episode with replicators in it. I think there is only so much that can be done with characters that can't speak. I was quite happy in SG-1 when they were finally eliminated and equally disappointed when they were resurrected one more time. I really disliked when they made themselves look human. That was a twist in their concept that just really didn't fit IMO. I'm still watching Stargate Atlantis for the first time and haven't seen them there yet. I'm near the end of season 2. As much as I've had enough of the replicators, they might be a welcomed change from the Wraith who I'm equally tired of now... |

They are one of those major plot enemies - they took a lot of time to be destroyed.

I have to admit, I kind of liked when they were resurrected. It was a brief and scary situation. I was also equally glad when they were defeated... again.

Everything truly bad in every film is eventually resurrected.

That sounds about right. It usually happens when the stories start to lag and the writers think, "Oh, lets bring out this old favorite to try and boost the ratings again". Unfortunately, this often does the story and the villain a disservice. |

Ah, yes, but I think it would work if they did it only once. A second time would become annoying.

Yes, repeated resurrection would begin to stretch the walls of believability. |

Yeah, I don't like repeated resurrection. Its like Alien: Ressurection, I really thought that was a major let down compared to its previous movie! |
