1st trailer for Spielberg's alien invasion series Falling Skies

It been almost a year since we first heard of Steven Spielberg's TV series Falling Skies, and up until now, we've had little to go by save for a prequel comic and a few random pics. Now it's finally time to get a look at the post-apocalyptic action.

But before you do, check out the official synopsis to remind yourself what the series is all about:

Falling Skies is an exciting new series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. Noah Wyle (ER, TNT's The Librarian movies) stars as a former college professor who becomes the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians struggling against an occupying alien force. Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) co-stars as Anne Glass, a therapist who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic situation. The series also stars Drew Roy (Lincoln Heights) as Hal and Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom's two sons; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps run the group's commissary. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT's Into the West) will play a recurring role as a fierce resistance fighter.

Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think!

Hmmm, was Noah Wyle the best choice for lead in this series? I liked him in the Librarian movies, but they were a different flavor than this series.

This looks pretty good. If it is half as good as it looks, then what a shame Syfy isn't hosting it. Not that I would expect them to...

There is no rhyme or reason to the Syfy Channel's programming decisions. :D

Swidden, you might be interested in this especially. There is a Falling Skies Web Comic associated with this series. I added the links to the original post in this thread.

Thanks. From the comic it does look as interesting as the trailer.

Looks like they are going all out to cross promote the series to make sure they bring in the viewers. A little like how Paramount and Co. did with the Countdown comic for "Star Trek".

The fact that it is on TNT should help some. TNT is becoming a pretty popular cable channel. They are supportive of their programming in general. Unlike the main networks that punt a show at the drop of a hat.

I thought I would bump this thread up just in case anyone wanted to check into the series and the online comics before the show premieres June 19th.

The previews for the show have been pretty interesting.

I'll have a difficult time reminding myself he ISN'T Dr. Carter anymore! LOL!

LOL. I used to have that problem, but its been so long since I watched ER, I no longer really think of him as Dr. Carter now. I see him as Flynn Carsen from the "Librarian" movies. :D

I'm looking forward to this one, it looks to me a bit more of what the revived "V" should have been, fighting off the invaders once their intentions are found to not be peaceful.

The benefit of this new show is that the enemy appears to reveal their harmful intentions early on. With "V" they had to work within the confines of the enemy being more covert about their intentions. The result being "V" took too long to get to the counteraction. They could have had the aliens already arrived publicly years before if they wanted to get right to the action on "V", but they apparently wanted to build up the story.

Either way, I am hopeful for "Falling Skies" based on the previews.

The Pilot is coming on again this Friday (24th) at 11:00pm and Sunday morning at 10:00am on TNT.

You can catch it also on Sat. 25th at 11:00pm on truTV.

Also Sat. 25th at 10:12pm - 12:10am on TBS.

------------

I've seen the first 30 minutes. I'll wait until I've seen the entire Pilot before giving my verdict.

Oh yeah. Just what we need. Run it on a reality television oriented network. Give the UFO conspiracy theorists more to chew on...

I watched 30 minutes and never went back to this series.

I have them all recorded. I plan to do a marathon soon. Anyone else been watching the first season? There are three more episodes scheduled for this season.

Series finale tomorrow night. 10 PM Eastern time on TNT.

I haven't followed the series as faithfully as I would have liked, but enough to stay caught up and aware. It hasn't been great, but it has been good. Definitely looking forward to watching the final episode and see how it all resolves.
