Wednesday August The Fifth 1230. warm overcast. The lake on Hogwart's Grounds

Areyna scurried out of the buidling clutching her bag tightly by her side a balled up letter in her hand. Areyna's eyes blinked rapidly as she walked onto the grounds by the lake. The girl's hand jerked up and swept her hand through her hair. Areyna's eyes wandered her surroundings just glad that there weren't any students nearby.

Areyna stood still for a moment staring out at the still black lake and suddenly she dropped her bag to the ground with a rather loud thump but she didn't care at the moment. The girl's hands slowly uncrumpled the letter in her hand and reread it for the 50th time hoping that the contents of the letter had changed but they hand't Areyna sighed and slowly slumped to the ground her fett splayed in front of her paying no attetion to anything but the letter and what her father had to say.

Anger flashed in her eyes and she immediately crumpled the poor worn piece of parchment again and moved to throw it into the lake but she bite her lip and dropped it into her lap staring at it angrily. The girl's eyes blinked rapidly again as she fought the temptation to cry. Areyna shook her head thinking No I can't cry out here someone might see. It's unacceptable.

The girl bit her lip once again and stared out at the lake trying to calm herself down.

Wednesday, August 5, 1998, 1215 noon.

The weather was expected to be sunny and hot, given that the month of August has just begun and it was high noon, but the king of the skies had decided not to show himself and hide his face behind the clouds. The wind was not harsh, too. The warmth that she was giving off is not too overwhelming, nor bland; it was pleasant to the skin, or so that's how Henri, a fifteen-year-old Hufflepuff student, felt.

While some students have retreated inside their cool common rooms or preferred to stay at the courtyard, the freckled teen chose to lie underneath a large tree, the one where he and Lexi had spent an afternoon. Henri’s head was resting on a mailman’s bag; eyes closed, looking at peace; and mind busy wandering on random thoughts, when a soft thud shook him out his reverie.

He opened his eyes and blinked. The green leaves and branches above greeted him. The young man turned his head to search for the source of noise, and eventually found a girl sitting on the ground with her legs splayed. She must be it. for it seemed that her bag was thrown unceremoniously beside her.

He couldn’t see her expression completely, but from where he was resting, he could see half of her face. She was holding something in her hands, her head bowed as if reading a volume.

Henri’s eyes trailed over her short hair, which she had dyed of toxic green. It dawned to the boy that he was looking at the features of a fellow Hufflepuff who goes by the name of Areyna. He blinked again.

He knows her name, but that’s just about it. He often sees her in the hallways, in classrooms, at the Great Hall, and in the common room, but they rarely talk with each other. Intimidated by her appearance, Henri has never attempted to get acquainted with Areyna. Now he came to think of it, he felt foolish and slightly guilty; why was he so quick to judge?

The young man removed his gaze from the lady, and focused on the leaves without really seeing them, thinking of one good reason to explain his past behavior towards the stranger.

Wednesday August 15th 1220 Pm

Areyna sighed and blinked again rapidly. Slowly she stood up her hands brushing away a few blades of grass. The girl stretched a bit and took a breathe visbly calming herself her body posture relaxed and she smiled slightly.

She turned around and her eyes widened surprised as she noticed a blonde boy sitting under a tree intently studying the leaves and branches above him. Areyna blushed a little hoping he hadn't seen her outburst. For a second she felt a bit angry that the area hadn't been as desserted as she had thought, but she relaxed thinking it's not his fault I didn't notice him. He looked vaguely familar so Areyna assumed he was in one of her classes, but Areyna was not surprised that she didn't know him.

A lot of people avoided her she couldn't blame them. The girl was quite aware of her intimidating image. For a moment she thought about just walking away but Areyna was quite curious as to what was so very interesting about the branches and leaves of that rather ordinary looking tree. So smiling she picked up her bag and slowly walked over to the boy smiling, but giving him time to get up and walk away if he wanted.

Out of the corners of his eyes, Henri saw that the rather eccentric lady stood up to approach his site. He was feeling panicky, as he assumed that she'll take out some of her rage to him. He wanted to leave as quickly as he could, but his body was quite heavy; he couldn't hoist himself up to run away from the place.

He could hear her footsteps, and his heart was pounding hard against his chest. He gulped, and forced himself to stare hard at the leaves, which rest motionless on their branches. He hoped that she didn't catch him looking. He'll be in serious trouble, if she did.

Pretend you don't notice...

She was a few inches away from him. How could he pretend not to see or feel her?

Finally, he couldn't ignore her presence any longer. He turned his head, breathed deeply, and lifted himself up. The young boy began to speak,

"Sorry, I know it was rude to,er , stare, but I didn't mean to..."

Areyna smile had slowly faded and she was about to turn and leave. Her cheeks had been slowly reddening as the boy seemed to be set upon pretending she didn't exist.

The girl jumped slightly as he finally spoke. As he spoke Areyna's blush was quickly replaced by a look of guilt since her presence was obviously making the blonde boy uncomfortable. Her hands tugged on the bottom of her jacket as she thought of simply running back to the castle.

Areyna considered leaving, but figuring the damage was already done she smiled hesitantly. Her eyes sparkled in amusement as the boy apologized and she tilted her head to the side studying him unabashedly.

For a few long moments the girl seemed to think then her hesitatant smile was replaced by a large grin "Oh don't worry about it you don't dress like this and expect not to be stared at. Actually I'm not sure but I think if people didn't stare it might defeat the whole purpose." her hand swept up and dragged through her toxic green hair just to make sure it was suitably windswept.

Areyna stood in front of the boy slightly to the side hoping the boy would relax but ready to leave if he was still uncomfortable. Her head shook slightly as she thought This is what you must accept if one insists on being different than everyone else. The thought saddened the girl slightly but she didn't allow the expression to show on her face.

Her head tilted up and she looked up into the leaves trying to discern what had been so very interesting, but the girl saw nothing that interested her.

Tara was walking along the lake going nowhere in particular, her thoughts were wrapped up in the lesson they had earlier that day. Her normally serious expression was arranged in a half smile and she was humming slightly to herself. She heard voices coming from behind a tree that blocked her view and her walk slowed as she cautiously peered around the tree. She grinned Henri was there the boy Lexi talked about all the time; she wondered if he knew that. Her gaze turned to the girl he was talking to, she looked very interesting to say the least but Tara was intrigued and were it not for her shy nature would have gone up to her directly. She stepped forward but tripped and instead of just passing by fell in front of them.

Areyna was standing quietly trying not to look offended at the blonde boy who was in front of her when a girl fell out of nowhere. Areyna had not noticed the girl coming towards them and blinked shocked taking a step back.

She tried not laugh but Areyna couldn't help it and immediately felt bad for laughing at the girl. Areyna eyebrow arched up "Are you ok?" The girl spoke quietly looking at the the fallen girl uncertainly.

Tara looked up at the two students and heard the girl's laugh. Her cheeks turned red and she quickly picked herself up off the ground. "You should've walked the other way." Tara glared a little as she the girl who had laughed asked her if she was alright. "I'm fine...sorry for interrupting." She looked as if she would leave.

Areyna looked at the girl a litlte surrpsied as she glared, but then Areyna smiled wider. There weren't too many people who would have to guts to glare at her. She shrugged "Sorry I shouldn't have laughed it was rude, but I'm glad you're ok. By the way I'm Areyna. Who are you?"

Areyna slowly nodded. "So since you're not hurt is the ground ok?" The girl joked and plopped down on the ground comfortably "Have a seat talk a while I won't bite you despite I'm sure that's what everyone says."

Kiyo walked along the lake's shore slowly sorta jumping back and forth as he got too near the water. He soon bored of this odd game and flopped back onto the soft green grasses. He looked at the sky finding no interestingly shaped clouds, he sighed unhappily. He sat up and looked about himself his red eyes unusually bright today. His hair fell into his eyes and he brushed it away with a flick of his wrist. As he did so he caught a glance of two girls and a guy. One of the girls had an interesting hair color and he wondered if it was natural like his or dyed as he usually saw. The other girl seemed rather normal so he didn't really pay much attention to her. His eyes then moved to a boy standing near them seemingly forgotten by the two girls. He turned away and looked back at the lake. Shyness claiming him and a fear that Black-Kiyo would make another appearance. He hated that. 'Better to just let them come and greet you than the other way. But where is the courage in that? You are in gryffindor after all.....but...You're not very couragouse. You don't have any friends anymore. noone to stand up for. And hyou have fallen shy.' He thought glummily to himself.

Areyna was leaning on the ground comfortably and noticed a boy who stopped a short distance from her. It was hard not to notice him his hair was a bluish almost silver color, but Areyna liked it. She smiled as she thought he was coming her way but the boy stopped and turned away.

For a long moment Areyna frowned figuring the boy was probably intimated by her apperance though his wasn't much different than hers. But Areyna decided to give him a benefit of a doubt and decided that maybe he was just shy. Forutnately Areyna had no such problem and boldly yelled, "Hey come on over I don't bite!" She waved a friendly greeting, but didn't get up from her spot. She wasn't going to chase the boy down if he wanted to talk then he would have to come over to her.

[ooc]I hate being left behind!! Argghh! Now, how am I supposed to catch up with you guys?[/ooc]

"Oh don't worry about it you don't dress like this and expect not to be stared at. Actually I'm not sure but I think if people didn't stare it might defeat the whole purpose."

Henri, who was now sitting on the ground with his legs crossed, chortled at her response. He was not surprised with her cheeky answer. He would be greatly disappointed if she just walked away from him.

He opened his mouth to speak again, but his attention was diverted to the girl who fell in front of them. He made a motion to stand up and assist her, but Areyna beat him (that is, after she laughed at what happened).

He watched as the two girls connected, talking with each other.

What made him curious is how different they are from each other, yet there is a spark. The tandem would be quite interesting.

Areyna and Tara (he heard the girl introduce herself) sat on a spot not too far from him. A crease appeared in his forehead as he wondered how on earth could Areyna easily forget his existence?

He felt a mild indignation as the girls continued to chat as if he was just a part of the large tree with which he was leaning against.

"Hey come on over I don't bite!"

He looked up at the boy whom Areyna had addressed.

He looks familiar….But that is how Henri felt about almost everybody else. They are familiar faces, but still strangers. He made up his mind. Henri stood up and walked over to where the two ladies are.

“Hmmmnn,” Henri cleared his throat, looked down at them with brows raised.

“How come you’re inviting only him”—Henri jerked his head towards the Gryffindor boy’s direction—“ and not me?”

He flashed a grin before the girls get alarmed.

Just kidding. Can I join the two of you?”

Areyna jolted and her head jerked to the side looking at Henri shocked and surprised. She felt a little guilty for ignoring him, but figured he'd survive so the girl shrugged grinning at him, "I didn't invite you, because you looked quite comfortable with that tree as your company."

For a moment she thought of leaving her statement at that and then shrugged "Yeah come on join us though I'm not not sure if I can be more interesting than that tree."

Tara flashed a grin as the girl made a joke about the ground, she did have a sense of humor that even her shyness could not daunt. She sat down and looked at the girl next to her with interest Areyna looked like she could bite and yet Tara sensed that she wasn't as tough as she looked. She looked over at Henri "Sorry, we didn't mean to ignore you." She looked over at Areyna "Henri is dead gone on my friend Lexi." She siad this quietly with a straight face but as she finished she gave an impish grin.

Kiyo looked at the girl with green hair as she invited him over. he4 bit his lip slightly then stood up and approched the gathering shakeing his hair in his eyes to hide their odd color. " Uh..thank you...." He mumbeled shyly. He bit his lip as black Kiyo struggeled to get out. He looked at the other girl then the boy. "Sorry, but do I know you?" He asked his voice soft. "You look very familiar...erm....by the way..I'm Seiji Kiyomaro. Kiyo for short." he bowed his head slightly then looked back to the boy his eyes just barely peeking out from his hair.

"Thanks for the invitation," Henri replied as he sat down beside Areyna. He then heard Tara whisper, "Henri is dead gone on my friend Lexi."

Again, the boy cleared his throat, and addressed the girl who tripped before them. "Hi, I haven't introduced myself"---he stuck his hand out -- "I'm Henri, the boy dead gone on your friend Lexi."

He grinned at her, but somehow her words seeped through his skin like a poison.

I have no chance... the Hufflepuff boy thought glumly. He always thought that they made connection. But then, it seemed that his mistaken. He felt delusional for hoping that Lexi will like him.

Although his mind was busy wandering somewhere else, it didn't reflect on his face. He pasted a grin that didn't look like a grin at all; he seemed to have been suffering from a mild toothache.

A young boy's voice brought him back to where he was supposed to be.

"Sorry, but do I know you? You look very familiar...erm....by the way..I'm Seiji Kiyomaro. Kiyo for short."

Henri smiled, this time it was genuine.

"I'm Henri. I dunno... I think I've seen you somewhere else..." he replied tentatively.

The thing is, it was very possible that they've seen each other before. Both of them are studying at Hogwarts, aren't they? They're bound to see each other, although they didn't bother with the names since they have no business with each other, up until now.

[ooc]Kiyo, please forgive me if I've replied. I'm not really sure if your question was directed at Tara or me. I will assume that you're talking to Henri.

Please forgive me for such a lousy entry. I'm still trying to escape from this I-can't-write-well-that-it's-frustrating period. I'll try harder next time. :)[/ooc]

Kiyo smiled then replied, " Ah, well I thought I had met you..ah well it may have been someone else. It's nice to know you now though." His voice was barely more than a whisper and his hand wer nervously hidden in his pants pockets. He looked back at the girls biteing his lip slightly. Girls weren't his strong point.

(quite allright Henri. And yes the question was directed at you ^^)

Areyna smiled as Tra commented on Henri being being dead gone on Tara's friend, but she allowed the comment to go by without responding to it.

Areyna leaned back comfortably pluckinga piece of grass from the lawn and watched the boy with the blue hair speak. She could see that he was obviously uncomfortable adn she grinned not bothered by his obvious discomfort Areyna was used to people taking a little time to get used to her. "Well Hi Keyo. I'm Areyna and I'm sorry but your going to have to pronounce the whole thing i've not got a short name for anything."

The girl grinned as twirled the peices of grass in her fingers idly just sitting there comfortablly. Yawning a bit she plopped back on the grass tucking her arms under her head looking at everyone from her new perspective.

As Areyna responded to Kiyo's introduction, Henri surveyed the rather strange group. His eyes wandered over Tara's wide, but friendly face; Areyna's outrageously vividly-colored hair; and Kiyo's silvery hair (for that's all he could see).

Henri has developed a habit of looking at other people and creating an impression based solely on their appearance for his entertainment. It is quite contradicting, really, for someone who is against prejudice, but what can a man like him do in times of awkward silence?

Surely, he cannot admonish himself for not upholding his beliefs especially when it was done for his own amusement?!

So, setting the guilty feeling aside, the Hufflepuff boy came up with the following conclusions:

One: Tara is a shy and reserved girl. There is something in her demeanor that says 'I need more time to settle and feel comfortable,' although she behaves otherwise.

Two: Areyna must be crazy. A normal, ordinary girl wouldn't dye her hair green even if it means saving her life. In a way, Henri admired her tough exterior. Only a confident person can carry that style. Only someone who knows who she really is can wear that hair and take pride in their stride.

Three: Henri felt that Kiyo was not accustomed to this kind of environment. He must have come from a strict all-boys school. For Henri, hiding one's face means isolation and detachment.

He cupped his chin while enduring the silence. He pursed his lips, and decided that he needs to do something to break the ice.

"So..." he began, his eyebrows raised.

"What brought all of you back to Hogwarts?"

[ooc]If you think that Henri's mean, blame the skin. It makes me want to rebel, and bring out Henri's dark side. :)[/ooc]

Kiyo looked at the green haired girl as she introduced herself. " Ah well names aren't really a problem with me. I just don't really care for mine." He bit his lip slightly and then looked to the boy, henri, when he asked

"So...What brought you all to Hogwarts."

Kiyo thought for a moment. Then realized he really didn't know. His Mum and Dad, well he didn't really know much about them. He'd never met them. The Hideout was mostly made up of guys and none of them had ever come to Hogwarts. really he had no clue. It was school, kids went to school, no further explination. He looked at Henri then spoke softly,

"I got a letter, went to that alley place and got my stuff, came to the school, liked it, been comeing back since then. Also I don't really want to spend much time where I live so this school is an excuse as to why I'm never available over there. Also people don't seem to mind if you are different here. Where I'm from, if you have red eyes and silvery blue hair like mine...well you're a freak and are shunned or locked up or trained as an assassin." He lightly flicked his hair from his eyes revealing bright red yet carefully blank eyes. "What about you guys?" He looked to the others as he became a bit less shy.

(Ok I'm a bit sick today so please don't harp on me for the grammer errors. I'll edit this post later. And Don't worry Henri, Ithink the description of Kiyo is actually quite accurate! ^_^)

The girl's eyes slowly wandered to the silver haired boy and she smiled, "I kinda like it, but I suppose it is quite a mouthful."

Areyna looked at Henri a bit distractedly and smirked as Henri seemed to be once again lost in his thoughts. She was a bit surprised when he finally spoke up asking everyone what brought them to Hogwarts. Areyna remained quiet not responding since she didnt have a particaurly cool answer for that particular question.

She was even more surprised as Kiyo started to speak first giving a rather long answer Hmmmm maybe he's not that shy. Areyna sat up quickly and looked at Kiyo and his red eyes and grinned, "No offense and I'm sure you probably don't like them, but those are the coolest eyes I have ever seen. I'm jealous." The girl finished her statement with a mock glare then laughed.

Then not sure if the boy would be comfortable with her statement she quickly spoke up, "Well I guess you'd say it was a lack of options that caused me to wind up here. I could think of a few more interesting things I could be doing, but yeah my father would probably skin me alive if I didn't go to school." The girl shrugged her shoulders casually and grinned somewhat sheepishly.

Tara watched the conversation quietly, she didn't want to say something and embarras herself but she managed to smile at Henri even though he had hear her comment. She wasn't about to tell him that Lexi talked about him quite a bit.

She sighed and frowned as Areyna finished her explaination of how she came to be there "Don't you want to learn more about magic so that you can understand and defend yourself?" she could'nt help blurting it out.

Areyna grinned as the quite girl finally blurted out a question. Areyna's head cocked to the side as she thought, "Sure I do it's just far more interesting to pretend that I have better things to do." The girl laughed shrugging her shoulders as her eyes surveyed the group around her.
