What should it become? I personally had hoped to have more serious and tournamentesque games. I really wanted to transfer IF Trivia and other games in there. But its a spam fast. Your thoughts on what to do with this disaster?

put a cap on how often people can post in it, or pin the good "tournments" so that people can see them and might try to emulate them.

Meh Its some what of a good ice breaker for members. Thats how I "met" Sam and Tanya....I really do not want to get rid of it.....maybe have more staff prisence in that forum and spell out some rules a little better or clearer?
For Dulp topics take some of the most dulp and and make a pin or add to a main pin topic with the links to the most popular games.

To solve the duplicate topics problem, simply trash the new one or merge them togther. ^_^

Personally, I think Rating and Games is OK. I post in there occasionally, but I have to agree that some of it is out of hand. Good thing post count doesn't raise in there, or we'd all be dead.

I would suggest pinning the serious-like game topics, but I doubt you would want to do that with so many, Yodaminch. Maybe create a subforum and move the current R&G in there?

Never mind Bad Idea

Nevermind that. What about a colored topic title for sophisticated staff-run games and a pinning for the most prominent games?

i could possibly get seth to make a colored mm, but after if2 it would be much easier i think. at the moment merc's tweak only affects pinned topics.

Fun Zone would be a good name

Fun zone still seems like a big endorsement for spam. :(
We need something to encompass a broader array of games.

I actually like the idea of maybe Pinning a topic of encouraging games with at least one sentence replies. Maybe some staff members could start regular monthly tournament games that actually take wits and are fun. Most games I've seen there are cheap ways for some people to get their post up. Another idea would be to make a "Riddle" post, since I enjoy those greatly, and I'm pretty sure others do too.

You know what I always liked when I joined a couple years ago? The Image Caption game someone (I think Liberator or Liberation ) would host. Basically an image is posted and then members try to give a caption to it. The top captions are made into a poll and people vote. I'd love to start something like that up again.
See, we need more games like that in that forum, but I fear that these spammy games will lead to moronic replies in the more serious games. :/ I'd really like to cut down on the worst of the games. I don't think "Rate the avatar above you" or "Rate the sig above you" would affect the 'seriousness' that much, but certain games are just bleh and spammy.

Many members who post in Ratings and Games go through the last 10 topics and post something, even if it's not an appealing topic to them. I see that often where I enter the forum and the last posts are by one user. I'd rather have it where people pick and choose what kind of game they want to post in instead of just posting in the topic because 'it's there'. This can only come from good games.
The problem is (this is a question to you), do you think it would anger many of the users that they can no longer have their spammy games (ex: One word per post to make a story)? :/

TomPhil did the caption contest. He did it on the summers. Not sure if he will again.

Right. T'was TomPhil. But he hasn't done one in well over a year. Or at least not that I recall.
