| Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice |
| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Divination Professor and Deputy Headmaster,...as odd as that sounds.

Banni grunted furiously, lifting the massive pumpkin, it's hard outer shell feeling both rubbery and solid against his skin. Within seconds, he was sweating profusely, despite the cool air outside on the castle grounds. The grass was slippery, so it was slow going until Bannishtar got to the stone pathway that lead to the castle. Every year, Bannishtar did this, without magic. The only thing that came close to magic was the concoctions he used to fertilize the massive pumpkins he would grow every year for Halloween. And Banni refused to allow anyone else the pleasure of bringing in the massive pumpkins on Halloween, or the twenty-plus foot high Christmas tree on Christmas. Sometimes the wizards get so caught up in what they can do with magic, they miss the joy of moving the earth with their own hands. It was by holding fast to these practices, the centaur was able to remain grounded, despite all that has happened. Banni had, through a series of unfortunate events, found himself in the strangest of positions for a centaur to be in: He was now the Deputy Headmaster of a school for human wizards. Before this, the centaur had been Head of Gryffindor House, they previous Head having left the school due to their misconduct. Somehow, when it came to someone the Gryffindors respected and viewed as exemplifying the traits most valued by Godric Gryffindor--all except the ability to cast even the most simple spells. Bannishtar took his post with reluctance, but understanding that times were becoming difficult, and if he could be useful in this position, then he ought to be. It was that same attitude which had compelled him to take the position of Divination Professor before he was made Gryffindor Head, believing that he could foster a new understanding between humans and centaurs (whose relationship had become increasingly strained in recent years), and Gamekeeper the before that, as having lived in the company of the former Gamekeeper for five years as his assistant, Banni was the one who was most qualified. And Banni would not have spent those five years with Jeeves, the last Gamekeeper, had he not clashed with his herd on the issue of involvement in human affairs--a clash that would lead to his banishment. It was the work he did as Gamekeeper, which he never abandoned, and would never dream of giving up to a new employee, that kept him grounded in reality. Bannishtar was not human, and the "accomplishments" of his promotions didn't mean the same to him that they might mean to a human. There were many who covet his position, and many more who would resent that he held it (for obvious reasons), and normally Banni would have let one of them have it. But Banni took the position of Deputy Headmaster out of necessity: Hogwarts was, as of now, in great peril. Bidelia Belleford was one of the few that Azariah Amaranth truly feared. The arrival of Albus Dumbledore and Stephanie Mckenna would no doubt bolster their defenses, but Banni felt that someone whose loyalty to Belleford and the school was unquestionable. For all that he did to work with his former herd, he was still banished from them: Hogwarts was his home, and he would protect it from dangerous outsiders with his life, just as he fed the students and staff of Hogwarts on holidays every year with the set of his brow. This year, however, Bannishtar had a bit of difficulty doing that. The outbreak of fire last year had destroyed Banni's crops. That in and of itself wasn't an insurmountable problem. A few ingredients for McKenna's stores had created the most potent fertilizer Banni had ever seen. Perhaps too potent, in fact. In only a couple of months, Banni's vegetables had grown to the size of houses. And so the problem wasn't so much Banni's inability to feed everyone, but more his inability to get the massive pumpkin he was rolling up the hill through the front door. Bannishtar grunted, realizing that all he could do was keep his entire weight against the pumpkin to keep it from rolling back down the hill. |

Albus Dumbledore had just arrived back from Hogsmeade. Though outwardly, Albus was calm and serene, he was in a state of inner turmoil. Since his return to Hogwarts, he'd thought it courteous to go and call on his brother, Aberforth in nearby Hogsmeade. Aberforth's refusal to see Albus was expected, but disheartening, nevertheless. At least he was most fortunate to stop by Honeydukes in time to purchase a fresh batch of cockroach clusters. The day was not a total loss. Dumbledore started upon the road up the hill to the castle when he saw, at the door, a centaur attempting to wrestle a massive pumpkin through the great doors. The pumpkin, it seemed, was too wide, even for the massive doors of Hogwarts. Now even for Hogwarts, this was an odd sight. "Excuse me," said Dumbledore, approaching the centaur with a warm smile, "Professor Bannishtar, was it? Are you in need of assistance?" |

Bannishtar considered cutting the pumpkin right there to get it in, as there was no way to shove it in. It would cause such a mess, but what else could he do? The pumpkin simply would not go in. He was just thinking of how to keep the Pumpkin from rolling away, so that he could go off and retrieve a large knife, or perhaps his sword, to slice the pumpkin with, without the pumpkin rolling down the hill and going on a rampage, crushing everything in it's path, when a very tall wizard with graying hair approached him. "Excuse me," said Dumbledore, approaching the centaur with a warm smile, "Professor Bannishtar, was it? Are you in need of assistance?" "Good afternoon, Professor Dumbledore," Banni grunted, still holding back the pumpkin against the edges of the doorway, "I'm afraid this way is blocked until I can get this rather large pumpkin through here." |

Albus noted that Bannnishtar avoided replying to his question. Yet another disconcerting, yet expected circumstance, Albus noted. To be naturally suspicious of magic, and those who wield it, was a common trait of centaurs; and one no doubt enforced by the centaurs many years spent in the company of wizards, mired in the unfortunate political circumstances that seemed to define this age. Albus couldn't blame Bannishtar if he was somewhat suspicious. "You did not answer my question, Bannishtar," said Albus, "I'll simply assume it was out of preoccupation with your magnanimous task, not rudeness, that you ignored me and I shall ask you again: Do you require assistance?" |
