Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Emma had lost her footing on the way down the steps to the fifth floor with the group. Instead of worrying about it, she decided to stay. She was going to guard this corridor, all by herself.
She paced back and forth, her robes swaying with her every movement. She was built for battle. This was what she was raised for! Anyone coming against this school, her home like this.. she would make sure they got it good.
Her wand was in hand. A couple people ran back and forth through the corridor, students and aurors, and for each one, her wand was raised to them. She would guard this one, little hall with her life, and that was just it.
But this pacing was starting to become aggravating, and she didn't like her chances when it came to walking so much. She often would walk into something or step on her robe or trip over something simply because she was lost in thoughts elsewhere.
She stopped and leaned against the wall of the corridor, so as to not give herself opportunity for injury to occur.
Her crystal blue eyes scanned up and down the hall from her position. This was starting to seem unnecessary.
Maybe she should go downstairs and join the others in the real action, there was nothing interesting going on here.....

ooc: sorry it was a crap post but i wasn't sure how to start it XD

Seventh Year Harold the Great

The whole day had seemed incredibly confusing, almost unreal, to Harold. First the lessons were cancelled, then they got locked up in their common rooms without any word as to what was actually going on, and in the end they were freed by a bunch of Gryffindors who were looking for able bodies for their fight against Knights of Walpurgis. All the while, the Ravenclaw couldn't stop worrying about his girlfriend.

Harry wasn't a fighter, he'd always chosen to avoid all arguments with the use of his wits. When that didn't work, he usually just endured a beating only to get up later, not giving it another thought. That had al least worked on the Mudblood haters during his first few years at Hogwarts. But the time passed didn't change the fact he knew that by joining the little army he would only get in the way. Eve did.

Hoping he would find her and possibly protect her - 'Ya sure, ya betcha.' - Harold joined the group, only to get left behind outside the Gryffindor common room. Deciding to catch up with them, he proceeded carefully down the stairs, heart pounding with fear of encountering a real Knight, until he saw Emma on the Fifth floor.

Letting out a sigh of relief at seeing a friendly face, the boy went over to her, his wand awkwardly clutched by his side. "Emma!" he tried to exhibit his customary grin, which felt rather twisted on his face, "Have ya seen Eve? I've been lookin' for her all over." The boy didn't know where to go from here, because walking down the two flights of stairs alone had been quite a mental exertion. Perhaps it would be for the best if he stuck around somebody else. And Emma had always seemed like a girl who could hold her ground, a perfect example of her house.

"What' you doin' here, anyway?" he asked in afterthought.

She heard careful footsteps coming down from the sixth floor, and she fixed her posture, raising her wand to the bottom of the steps. After a few seconds, she realized that it was another student. Harry Avery was coming towards her now, she lowered her wand, as she had with all the others. When he addressed her she smiled and nodded in recognition. She was glad he was someone she actually knew well.
"Have ya seen Eve? I've been lookin' for her all over."
She shook her fiery head, "No, I'm sorry, Harry.." The poor boy, he couldn't find his girlfriend. Had Eve left with her and the others from the common room? Thinking about it now, she couldn't remember who had went, except for Oscar of course.
She took out a hair tie and pulled her hair off to the side, just so it was out of her face.
"What' you doin' here, anyway?"
She looked back at him wide-eyed for a moment. Didn't he see that she was guarding this corridor? Wasn't that obvious? She shook her head again, this time looking a little confused. "I um, I thought it would be a good idea to..... guard this corridor?" She wasn't sure why she ended that in a question... it was like she trying to get his approval or something. She placed an awkward smile on her face.
"After that auror came through with Hazel, I didn't think there was anybody guarding any of the corridors up here. Everyone else is downstairs. I'm sure that some people are still in the common rooms...... but if I can help it, no one will be able to make it past here to get there." There was passion in her voice, and her eyes reflected her fiery tone.

Harold saddened once more when it turned out Emma hadn't seen his girlfriend either. Maybe she was back in her common room? Safe and sound. That had to be it. But he still had no way of getting into the room now. Of course, he could try asking Emma for the password. He quickly brushed that idea off the table. If she wasn't there then he might not make it so far back in his search.

"Oh, okay.... is there a reason for that?" Harry asked about the task she'd taken upon herself, slightly confused by her confusion but smiling nonetheless. The Gryffindor answered her shortly.

The Ravenclaw had to admire her determination to protect others, alone on top of that, but why this floor? There were just an owlery, a few classrooms and... surely she wasn't defending the bathroom. "But wouldn't it be better to guard the entrance instead?" he asked further, "so they wouldn't even get in?" His house was notorious for always asking questions, after all.

"What's that?" he suddenly blurted out, startled. "D'ya hear that?" Harry warily glanced over his shoulder where he thought he'd heard the noise. Or was he imagining things now? Seeing nothing there, he faced Emma again. "It's not like I'm afraid... or anythin'," he said with a small grin, not really believing his own words. "... Maybe a little."

His smile seemed to leave his face. She was glad now more then ever that she wasn't in a relationship at the moment, not that she wasn't worried for the people around the school as a whole. She was standing here to stop any possible intrusion to the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw common rooms by herself, after all.
"But wouldn't it be better to guard the entrance instead so they wouldn't even get in?"
There was that Ravenclaw spirit! The asking questions... not her favorite thing about that house. It was hard for her to come up with an answer without sounding insensitive. Emma made a decision quickly and did it. As a lot of Gryffindors should, she makes quick decisions and follows through with them, not worrying about the repercussions that might occur later on. Similarly, when an order is given, you just do it. Asking questions generally led to screaming or disappointment, which in her case led to tears. That's just how she was bred, though.
"Um.. I suppose?" She answered, ending once again in an awkward question. It was funny, like she was unintentionally trying to mock him. "I just thought... you know," She shrugged and let her eyes fall to the ground. Ok, so she didn't have a good reason, so she thought about it for a second, "I guess.. I didn't want anyone to even get to the seventh floor. Take them out down here, and there is no way they would get up there, right?" She bit her lip and looked back up at him.
As much as she loved jumping up to defend her school and being probably close to nothing but a pawn in the process, Emma disliked being questioned. Not because she had authority, but because it meant that if she answered incorrectly, somebody may be disappointed in her answer. She swung her arms once or twice uneasily, humming, and caught them together behind her back, her left hand holding the right, which was still holding her wand.
She jumped when he was startled. She hadn't heard anything, had she? If she hadn't been humming, she might have known for sure. He glanced over his shoulder and she moved her head so she could see behind him too. After a moment, she shrugged again, "Don't think there's anything there." She said, but not before stifling a snicker.
"It's not like I'm afraid... or anythin'.... Maybe a little." She let an almost cocky smile form on her face. At least he was honest about it.
"It's ok," she said releasing her hands and waving her free left hand at him, "I'm here to protect ya." She meant for that to come out honestly, and hoped he didn't take it the wrong way. Ravenclaws may know a lot and aren't generally amazing when it came to fighting, but a guy was still a guy. The mentality that a man should be stronger and more capable of defending themselves and others then a woman probably didn't change depending on what house you were in.
If there was anything she learned about growing up with all brothers, it was that macho kind of experience. Men were the strong ones, women were to be taken care of. She was glad that here that her father wasn't around to hear her. She lowered her eyes again, hoping he would see it as kind of a silent apology.

"Hey! You come back here!" a voice called out from down below.

CRASH!

There was a dying scream, then silence. Then, laughter, as Peeves the Poltergeist came flying up the stairs, cackling madly.

Resting atop his head, right over the usual propeller cap, was the sorting hat.

"Ooooh," said Peeves, spotting two students, "Little poppets should not be out in the ha-all! Kempy said so! You'll get in-trouuublleee!"

He cackled again.

From Emma's hesitant response, Harry could tell she wasn't very happy with his questioning. But he couldn't just hold back, no matter how inoffensively he attempted to put it. "Relax Em, I'm not testin' ya," he said with a lopsided smile. Harry didn't really mind staying where they were, it seemed safer after all, but the other part of him wanted to search the lower corridors for Gweneve.

"That's very chivalrous of you," He spoke in a noble fashion, the intended effect marred by a grin, before slightly bowing his head in thanks. His intolerance to danger wasn't something he was proud of, but he'd long since come to terms with the fact that not everyone was a born fighter. And, as countless of times in the past, he tried to brush off everything that bothered him with humour. Normally, he wasn't afraid of older students. The worst they could do to him were a few bruises and oftentimes he had even managed to talk his way out of any trouble. But he doubted the followers of the Dark Lord would be so easily swayed or that they would hesitate in killing him if they wanted to.

Just when the boy was starting to accept there was nothing life-threatening around them, a set of loud noises resounded from below, effectively scaring him once more. But upon seeing it was only Peeves, undoubtedly the most difficult ghost at Hogwarts, Harry gave out a sigh of relief. Better the evil you know, although he wouldn't go as far as calling the poltergeist evil.

"Who did ya scare to death this time?" Harold asked, sizing the ghost up and down warily before something stopped him. The hat! "And where did ya get the Sortin' hat?" he asked in a mildly accusatory tone. "Hand it over before the Headmistress finds out you pinched it." Harry had no problem hiding his smile this time, and appeared entirely serious.

Peeves' hand went to the brim of the sorting hat on his head, protectively.

"Meanie!" was Peeves' reply, "I didn't swipe it. It was the masked booger what stole it from Bidsy's office. Unlucky for him he happened to walk under a torch chandelier with a loose bolt. Thievsies might get punished, but finders are keepers. Ha-hah!"

Emma smiled at his response, grateful that she didn't speak to him out of line.
She jumped when she heard the loud crash and her wand once again was in the air, this time coming from the entrance of the corridor below them. Then there was a scream.. but when Peeves revealed himself, sporting the sorting hat rather comically, she chuckled.
She listened to the exchange between Harry and the ghost before getting herself involved. There had been a knight just at the floor below them, that thought made her thankful for having Peeves around for a change.
"Well, that was very good of you Peeves, getting rid of that thief." She said with a smile on her face. What did a knight want with the hat exactly?
"But Harry is right, the hat should be returned to the headmistress's office." She walked a couple steps closer to the spirit, "We would really appreciate it if you would give it to one of us, please?" She held her hand out and let the same light smile stay on her face.

Peeves nodded and removed the hat, floating closer to Emma. When, at last, he was in range to hand her the hat, he blew a raspberry in her face and chuckled.

"Finders. Keepers." Peeves repeated, "Nobody tells Peevsie what to do!"

He cackled loudly and rose into the air.

((OOC: You'll have to get it from him somehow. Unlike other ghosts, he's been proven to be susceptible to spells. Also, and what you do with this information is your choice, but, as in the books, the Head of the school is the only person Peeves sort-of respects. Or the Weasley twins.))

Harold gulped uncomfortably at the implication there really were KoW in the castle. Somehow he'd hoped it was just a rumour. His eyes followed Emma as she tried a gentler approach, praying it would work. No such luck. It was all just a game to Peeves, or so it seemed.

"Nice try," the Ravenclaw murmured as he joined his friend again, giving her a significant look. Harry got another idea. Despite not liking it at all, because he just hated using force, it was necessary and the only thing he could think of, other than fetching the Headmistress. And there was obviously no talking the ghost into relinquishing the hat.

"Accio Sorting Hat," Harry called, his wand raised high. Perhaps if Emma were to distract the ghost, the hat would be theirs.

Emma went to grab the hat, but the ghost pulled it back and teased her. Suddenly she was annoyed, not caring that that what he was known for. She half smiled at Harry in response to his comment.
He raised his wand and sent a command for the hat to come to him, and she held her wand up and sent some sparks flying Peeve's way. Hopefully the ghost would try to dodge her quick sparks and let go of the hat....

Peeves ducked under the sparks while holding on tightly to the hat.

After the spell wizzed past him, the poltergeist blew another wet raspberry.

"Nice try to you, too!" He cackled, "You think you're the first to try and take something from Peevesy?"

Peeves rose into the air and shot like a rocket around the corridor. He flew towards the stairs, where he planned to make his exit...

"Nananananananananananana--"

"Heeeeeeerrrrressssss Ronnie!"

The Insane Masked clown growled exuberantly through a face covered in makeup and streaked with blood that ran from his nose and mouth.

His yellow jumpsuit was torn, and he was bleeding all over.

The clown opened his mouth and laughed madly, revealing the shattered, bleeding stumps of his teeth.

Peeves shrieked in horror as the most dreadfully unfunny clown he'd ever seen came bounding up the stairs, laughing madder than the poltergeist himself and looking like he'd just been run over by a bicorn.

Dropping the sorting hat, Peeves flew away down the corridor, screaming madly, towards the set of stairs that lead up.

"Ha-ha!" laughed the clown. He slammed his big red shoe down on the sorting hat and made like he was grinding it into the ground with his foot before sweeping the hat down the stairwell.

"Hello, children," said the clown, "Now why would any of you want to drop the ceiling on me? I'm just here to bring a smile to those faces. Things will be better with me in charge. Just think of it"--the clown raised his hands into the air--"When the wizarding world and muggle worlds are one, I'll be able to use House Elves to run my restaurants. With such cheap labor, I'll be able triple production of my dark-magical mind-controlling food products which the world craves. It will be glorious!"

The clown slowly lowered his arms. He looked to the children accusingly.

"But you children don't want that, do you?" he asked, "You have not yet tasted the sweet, salty meat which is my bounty. Come now..."

Somehow, the clown had closed the distance between himself and the girl. He already had his hand around the back of her head before she could react.

He took out a knife.

"Let's put a smile on those faces!--Oh yeah, eat your heart out, IT!"

With Emma's help, Harold was almost certain they would get the hat. But the plan didn't work out and instead of apologizing to the ghost, the Ravenclaw scowled at him. He glanced to his friend with a 'what now' expression as Peeves took off, but his attention drifted back to the ghost at his fearful shriek.

He could hear someone else's voice, a rather chilling one at that, down the corridor. And once Harry noticed the clown, the boy froze with his mouth dropped open. Was that... Ronald? And was he seeing things? Harold had never been afraid of clowns, but panic gripped him at the appearance of this one. He really must have been dreaming some ridiculous nightmare and this was all part of it.

Too stunned to run away, Harry couldn't help but listen to the monstrous man's words. Did he say... "M-mind-controlling?" his voice trembled. Even though it had been almost a two years since his last cheeseburger, Harry felt as if it was coming up his throat right now. He was never going to go to MacDonald's again.

Harold jumped back as the clown neared towards them, but his target was Emma. That was just too much, what if he hurt her? The reality dawned upon the boy at the realization he was really going to. His wand shook along with his hand as he aimed it at the clown. "Stupefy!" somehow Harry managed not to stutter over the incantation as the jet of red light left his wand.
