Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

A Morning Walk/By The Lake; Year 6 - Day 6 - Period 1
Topic Started: Nov 2 2011, 12:53:03 AM (691 Views)
Jarrette Loefler
Seventh Year

Jarrette had his mind on something, and when he was deep in thought he had to take a walk. The grounds were warm and muggy, the grass was muddy from the excess rain the past past few weeks. There was just a little bit of fog creeping off the great lake from the earlier morning, and the sun was shining through the thick air.
Thankfully, Jar was used to this kind of weather. Working out on the farms in the middle of summer for his uncle the past few years had led him to experience many a harsh humid summer.
He was thinking about his good friend Aislinn... and her lowlife Slytherin boyfriend. She had convinced herself that she was happy, and Jar could see right through the fake smile. The things that the other boy was doing behind her back made him want to punch Jaimie in the face. Flirting with this girl, kissing this one, maybe even more with others. ..
All the while he needed to focus on his school work, and he had been trying to form a group of students that wanted to be healers to help the injuries that the nurses were becoming overwhelmed with. He was really beginning to feel overwhelmed.
He just needed a little fresh air. It was quiet out.. he looked around... the highest parts of the castle couldn't be seen. Everyone was in class. He couldn't be the only one out.
The boy sat down on the ground, then after a moment let out a sigh and laid back on the grass- just letting this bit of free time stand still.

Magical Concepts. What a joke. Hazel had at first been incredibly enthused by the topic, wanting to learn as much as possible; the name had suggested that much was to be learned. Only nothing could be said for certain, nothing was known for sure and in the end, she'd just become frustrated with the entire class. It had gotten to the point where she didn't bother going half the time. Theories about why magic did the things it did she could figure out on her own. Or make them up! That would at least make it interesting, for her. But listening to other people's dull explanations about magic... not so much. Hazel was pleasantly surprised when she stepped outside. It was warm. The thought of summer practically made her vibrate in excitement. Winter always felt so stuffy, it was far too cold to so many things. Hazel still tried, of course. But summer would always be superior. Perhaps it had something to do with how many layers she had to put on. The Ravenclaw felt lighter today. Though the mist hanging in the air was a bit of a nonchalant reminder that summer wasn't quite here yet.

Of course, there was a never a stroll to be had, for Hazel Evans, that didn't result in someone getting injured. Most often herself. She'd be on the ground, with a scraped knee and freshly ripped jeans. Though, this time, she feared she might have injured someone else as she fell forward, uncomfortably squashing someone's legs beneath her as she did so. The girl let out a bit of a squack when her foot connected with something that wasn't air and her balance had left her in an instant. "I'm so sorry!" The response was like whiplash, she hit the ground, she'd apologize. "Honestly! I had all of the outside world to trip over and I manage to hit you." The girl muttered, pulling herself off of the unfortunate victim with a bit of a wince on both their behalves. "Jarrette!" They'd been in school together for quite a while. He was in Gryffindor. Though she didn't know much beyond that. Hazel was notoriousely clumsy. She smiled sheepishly. "You're not hurt, are you? I'm really sorry, honestly."

Jarrette had heard someone getting close but hadn't realized just how close they had been to him. Otherwise, he would have moved.
He felt a little bit of pain in his legs and jumped, sitting back up.
There was a girl apologizing to him for tripping over him, he recognized her as Hazel- a fellow sixth year who he'd known for a while.
After a minute to calm his mind, he shook his head and chuckled. Hazel had always been one of the clumsier girls in his class. Being a wise Ravenclaw didn't necessarily mean you were graceful, too.
"It's ok, I'm fine. Are you alright?" He stood up and offered his hand to help her up, trying to be the gentlemen he had been raised to be.
" Don't feel bad, I shouldn't have been laying out in the open either." He smiled, reassuringly.

"Oh! Thanks. You didn't have to stand up-" Hazel giggled slightly, feeling ridiculous, as he offered her a hand. She was lucky most of the people she tripped over were so nice. The Ravenclaw threw her own hand into his and tugged herself off the grass. "Oh, after all the years of falling I've become extra durable. The only thing I fear is getting a good thwacking by the whomping willow." She murmured, trying a grin. Hum, the grass had been a little damp. Plus, she had a few new grass stains on her shirt. Self consciously her hand went to her chin, because she knew she'd managed to that too. It would be really bad if she had a green chin for awhile. It was really too bad her hands hadn't acted to save her, like a normal person's hands would. She'd just fallen, much like a tree who had been severed from its support system.

"It'd be good to get around like a normal person does! Tell me your secrets." She felt slightly encouraged to be friendly, leastways; maybe even attempt to hold a conversation. He had always seemed so nice, but she'd never really gotten around to talking to him. Hazel supposed she couldn't be mad at her clumsiness. It was the only way she ever met people. "Oh stop trying to make me feel better, it'll get to my head." She warned him, waving her hand in an embarrassed-dismissal like way, it was shocking how often she got such responses. So every once in a while she strayed from the; 'don't be silly, you'd be safe to lay wherever you wish if I wasn't traipzing about like a moron!' routine. And it was routine by now. She gave one more wistful smile and glanced around the grounds, glad to be outside. "You're not skipping class too, are you?" This was said, quietly almost confidentially with a bit too broad of a grin. Just trying to make conversation. The least she could do after tripping over him. Unless... he wanted to be left alone? Oops. Way to impose, Haze.

"Yeah, getting thwacked by the whomping willow is definitely something we all want to avoid." There had been a few cases over the years he had been at Hogwarts of the enchanted tree going after a student when they got too close for it's liking. As far as he knew, all of them survived, though he didn't know how.
He found her pretty amusing anyway, which was good, helped calm him down a little more. "Nah really, I was more startled then anything. I just wasn't expecting anyone to come around. I thought maybe I'd sleep off breakfast." He smiled at the girl.
Was he skipping class? "Magical theory? Yeah..." He really shouldn't be. He really needed to pass the class in order to become a Healer. He felt that he was doing fairly good. One class shouldn't hurt after all. "You too I guess?"
He started to walk, and gestured for her to follow if she wanted. He was planning on being alone for a while but a little human company was always good too. Especially the lighthearted kind.

"Right up on the list with werewolf mauling and having the mother-in-law over for dinner." Hazel murmured, grinning absently. Not that she would know what having a mother-in-law was like; she'd heard it could be unpleasant. She was still rubbing her chin self consciously. Things to avoid. It was like a reverse bucket list. The things I could do without experiencing. It wasn't nearly as catchy as its counterpart, unfortunately. She returned his smile. "Well, I apologize for waking you. Never again will I be grumpy after being awakened from a nap!" Hazel declared, rather frivolously. She was a bit violent when woken up unceremoniously. Shocking. She enjoyed her sleep. But she would forevermore look upon this interaction and feel bad enough to be a little nicer. At least, that was what she told herself. Though it made her feel like she was intruding moreso and perhaps she should wrap the conversation up and go find someone else to trip over.

Hazel nodded slowly at his less than frivolous answer. She was well accustomed to skipping-class guilt. Of course, she'd mostly gotten over it as the years went by. "It's good to go outside what's been scheduled, every once in a while. I think. Helps clear the head, you can relax and maybe feel more inclined to work harder later on." She reasoned, out loud. Though she'd never really voiced such thoughts, they sounded kind of silly when not in her head and she flushed a bit. Hazel let out a low whistle; as though she were releasing some steam before nodding. "I get so frustrated in theory classes. All opinion, really. No fact." But, how did one distinguish what was fact? She decided not to voice these opinions, she'd didn't want to skip theory to start her own theoretical conversation. So instead she chose to be happy that he waved for her to follow. Walking was always nice. "Plus, it's so nice out. It would be torture to stay inside the castle. All cooped up and such."

The boy laughed at her comparisons, " Yeah I've heard those are all pretty bad too."
He nodded when she mentioned getting out of what scheduled, "I guess that does make sense. Same routine kinda becomes boring after a while." He hadn't really thought of it that way before. "Mind if I use that as an excuse if somehow I get caught?" He put his hands in his pockets and looked at her sideways.
A look of surprise came over Jarrette's face when she criticized the class's workings, "Really? I figured you Ravenclaws were just into all that stuff... Eh, maybe that's being house..ist?"
He nodded when she mentioned the weather, "Right? It's nice to see the sun after such a a dark winter. Days'll be getting long soon... For the first time, I'm a little excited to be able to get out of this place and go back home to the States. Hot days in the field, warm nights on the beach... Good stuff." He was sure everyone felt the weight around here this year. So much death and pain. He couldn't wait to escape it all for a little while.

Well, it was good to hear him laugh. Jarrette had sort of been giving off the melancholy vibe. Or perhaps he was more serious than the people she was used to hanging around. It was a pleasant change, knowing she'd been the one to humor him. With any of her other friends it was so hard to tell. She grinned a bit in response. "I don't mind if you use it at all. Be wary, however. It's the ultimate excuse for a procrastinator." This was said almost ominously, as though she were saying a sacred oath. Her hand was even poking into the air, girl-scout-style, in solemnity. She had stopped walkign to do so and hurried her pace to catch up with Jarrette, who hadn't really gotten that far ahead, really.

She couldn't help a giggle, at his expense, over his look of shock. Hazel wasn't typical Ravenclaw material. And a laugh at the word 'houseist' "Got you there, didn't I? I am actually a Slytherin in disguise." That was a little 'houseist' too, wasn't it? A pun? Perhaps. Either way the statement was ridiculous. Slytherin's were far too uptight- woops. This was hard. "Perhaps Hogwarts would be better if there weren't houses. Everyone could sleep in the Great Hall." Hazel exclaimed, a little rambunctiously but quieted almost immediately. "That would be a lot of people." Serious thought. "or, maybe, a 'house' for each grade? Though that might be unfair to younger grades..." Now she was muttering to herself. "I just think it's mean to categorize people, but saying so makes me a bit of a hypocrite, dunnit? I see a Slytherin in the halls and I walk the other way. You know, dive into the nearest broom closet and such..." Now she was rambling. It had certainly been awhile since this had happened to her and she flushed in embarrassment.

Though she was a little shocked to hear that he was looking forward to being away from Hogwarts, it had always been the opposite before. Perhaps she was most shocked to find that she was agreeing with him. Hogwarts was so stressful lately, so dangerous. She, obviously, tried not to think about all that happened... it was supposed to be safe. Was it really right to think that things would be better when they were home? She kept these thoughts to herself. "Odd to think that it'll be a relief to get away from Hogwarts, huh? I remember fighting all the way to the train after my first year here, I didn't want to go home. But it was sort of nice when I got there. If only to get away from schoolwork." Hazel murmured, thoughtfully glancing over at Jarrette for a few moments before laughing at herself. She used to be far more rambunctious. Tyler was the one who'd dragged her home. Had to pick her up, kicking and screaming, but he'd done it. They were so tiny back then. "I didn't know you lived in the States! That must be nice. I hear the weather's less dreary..."

Jarrette stopped and looked up at the sky. It was one of those odd days. The one where you could hope to look up and find that the sunlight hit the humidity just right to form a rainbow. It was funny to him, how uplifting something so silly and even childish would be right now.
"Yeah, where I'm from the weather is pretty hot and muggy come summertime. This is just how I like it. Maybe that why I came out here, to get a taste of what coming." He looked back in Hazel's direction and smiled again. "I wonder if anyone is really safe nowadays, though. Even for those of us returning to the muggle world.... I try not to think about it." He looked away, just off at the castle for a minute, letting that thought really sink in. It made his stomach knot up.
He turned his head back to her and stored that thought into the back of his mind again, "So, have they interviewed you yet?"

Ah, they'd breached the danger zone. Well, it was impossible to avoid upsetting everyone these days. There was too much going around that made life suck. Hazel's gaze darkened for a few moments, considering if there was a way to salvage the situation. She wasn't good at brooding and more often than nought she preferred keeping her opinions to herself. Being a Ravenclaw, she was smart. But she preferred to stray away from the stereotypes. What she thought about the entire situation? Hazel hated it. It scared her. There was this unstoppable, imposing force that was tearing away everything she loved and cared for. Everything she knew... It made her feel incredibly small. Reminded her that she was one person in billions. There was nothing she could do. Nothing at all. If her family was attacked... they'd be slaughtered. It was so... terrifyingly simple. "What else can we do." Hazel muttered, a hint of irritation clouding her voice. It had not been intended and she threw a sheepish smile in Jarrette's direction. Try not to think about it. Until it was looking you in the face, breathing down your neck; what could they do to not be powerless?

Hazel didn't like relying upon others, trusting that something would get done. She'd relied on others her entire life. But what other choice did she have? It's not like she could hunt down the dark lord herself and kill him with her almighty powers. The thought was laughable. Aggravatingly so.

Then she did laugh, her aggravations flowing away as she considered the question. Yes, she'd been interviewed. 'Evans' was pretty high up there. She assumed they were going Alphabetically, leastways. "I have." Though she wasn't sure where to take the topic. Her thoughts went to the interview, all very standard questions. You are? Your family is? "It's been determined that I'm not a follower of the Dark Lord." She confided simply, not able to muster a wink. Hazel hadn't been directly interviewed by Kemp, something she was thankful for. "Quite an imposing bunch, ne? Though I knew nothing... my interview was over quite rapidly. I'm the model student." A snigger. Skipping class. Irony. "Yourself...?" Hazel found the interview easy to brush off, because the whole thing had been a bit of a joke to her. They must know next to nothing if they needed to do the entire student body. Well, they hadn't used veritaserum yet. Though she supposed they couldn't just go around drugging students. Perhaps she should be more scared than amused? Perhaps she was scared. Self consciously she glanced about the grounds, as though expecting an evil deity to spring upon them and steal their souls.

Nothing was forthcoming, however.

With a blink of realization she turned and smiled to Jarrette. "I was supposed to go meet someone! I'm sorry, Jarrette. I'll talk to you later?" In all honesty, she would really like to talk to him later, he grounded her so she didn't act like too much of an idiot and he was rather pleasant. With a friendly wave she took off, back towards the castle, only tripping afew times as she headed for the Student Lounge.

Alexa had been perched on the same square-edged rock for some time now, her mind drifting from thought to thought. How many times had she skipped Magical Concepts since her first year? So many, she'd lost count. Alfie wouldn't agree with this, she figured, so she stayed out of the castle, not knowing if he had chosen to take the course or not. Of course, Alexa had been forced to take it by her mother, and had no choice in the matter. So instead of arguing, she just didn't attend. Her mother was miles away, what could she do. Her Fiancee, though, who knew what he would think of her skipping the class? Of her letting her grades slip? She had no idea, and didn't want to find out. She knew it was wrong, that it was a horrible thing to do. But at this point, she was too exhausted to care. "Not sleeping will do that to you..." She muttered, barely audible. In her hands, she held a few biscuits, stolen from the table at breakfast. She'd let her "healthy eating" go, after all. It was too much effort just stick to salad, and no sweets. It just didn't work for her, and not Alfie either.

All she could think about was the boy. Of how she had to convince her mother to let her be with him, to let her be engaged at such a young age. Ava was still skeptical on whether the two should live together, a thing Alexa wasn't to happy about. She'd be eighteen in a few months, and after that, not even her mother could stop her from living her life the way she chose to. After her eighteenth birthday, Alexa would go to live with Alfie, and get to know his parents better, more so than she already did. She was tired of having decisions made for her all the time.

Wanting to clear her mind, Lex through her biscuits into the lake, and put her hand over her eyes. sighing.

Walking through the corriors, Alfie smiled to himself, he woke not only ten minutes ago and decided a good walk around the lake was needed on a beautiful day like this, especially while the castle was quiet with most students in Magical Concepts, Alfie hadn't wanted to take that class as he always scored top marks in his last school so he'd rather just relax then learn something he already knew. As he reached the lake, Alfie smiled to himself, his parents were so pleased about Alexa and him coming home for the summer before 7th year and the wedding, only one thing unnerved Alfie, and that was Alexa being well.....innocent, and of course being a manwhore for so long taught him more then enough spells to prevent accidents but wht did she want? He hadn't really asked her, to be fair, he hadnt had a lot to say about it, his mother took control of everything as usual.

Reaching the corner of the lake Alfie saw a shape he recognised very well, Alexa, he was sure she had taken Magical Concepts this year, so what was she doing here? Was she unwell? He started to feel very concerned for the welfare of his Fiancee so rushed over to be with her.

"Lex?" He asked, his hand on her shoulder, "Are you feeling okay? You are meant to be in lesson arent you?" He asked, his eyes full of concern.

Addie and Hellius rushed out onto the grounds as the gleam of the morning dew glistened beneath the rays of morning sunshine. A cloud of smoke trailed Hellius as his shoes sunk into the damp earth; the black leather being covered by a slight specks of dirt and mud.

"My history bit me in the ass," he groaned after a few minutes of silence. He took another drag of his cigarette, which was almost burned down to the filter. "It..."

He released the smoke and flicked the butt to the ground, where the orange glow faded before dying away.

Addie frowned, hurrying somewhat to keep pace with him. She'd managed to walk out of the way of his smoke trail. The girl needed to know how his interview went, growing more nervous the longer he held the information to himself. It was clear it hadn't gone well, but she wanted the details.

Addie bit down on her lip lightly as he mentioned his history, thinking through the various predicaments he'd gotten himself into throughout the years. Yes, this was very bad.

"It what?" She asked softly, eyes focused on the profile of his face.

"It might... come t' visit you, too," Hellius sighed. His fingers twitched, but he fought the urge to reach into his coat pocket. He slowed his pace, looked back at Addie, then shot a glance towards the door into the entrance hall. "You came up."

The girl continued to frown, settling her gaze on the lake as they drew nearer. It made sense. Thinking back on all the trouble Hellius had gotten himself into over the years, the girl realized she'd stumbled upon about half of it.

"I see... I guess I shouldn't really be surprised about that. I was kind of a thorn in your side back then." She paused, playing with the hem of one of her sleeves absently. "What situation did I come up in, exactly?"

"You're still a thorn in my side now," Hellius smirked, slipping his hands into the pockets of his chinos. He tried to remember what exactly happened on the day in question, when Hellius and !Xabbu and Addie had dueled. He had forgotten what urged him to fight them, but if he didn't remember it obviously wasn't important. "Remember that day you and Zabbu dueled me, and I made a huge shadow bubble?"

She grinned faintly at his comment, glancing back to him. "Glad I'm doing something right at least. You're trouble, need someone protecting people from you."

She bit down on her lip, pondering what he'd said for a moment before nodding faintly. "A little bit. I think you were picking on !Xabbu and I decided it'd be a good idea to step in and help him. I don't really remember it well though." She glanced back to the smooth surface of the lake, the clouds overhead threatening to interrupt it.

"I don't see why that would get me in trouble though. All I'd say is that I was trying to break up a fight." She shrugged faintly, glancing back to him. "So what's Kemp planning to do about you?"

Hellius nodded as he walked, watching the black lake grow closer with every step. He was reminded of days in the summer when he'd go swimming in the lake (natural or not, he was never sure) by the citadel. The water was always cold, but perfect for the 90 plus degree temperature outside.

Adventures in the black lake had never been particularly attractive to him; the fact that the lake was literally black and hosted life to all sorts of creatures of the deep... made him nervous.

"The nex' time I fuck up?" Hellius pondered, arching his arms up and cradling the back of his head in his hands. "Yeah. Game over. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 sickles."

She nodded slightly, continuing to play with the sleeve of her robe. She wasn't entirely sure what he was talking about with the 'do not pass go' thing, but 'game over' was a pretty clear message.

"You'll have to be careful. Don't do anything stupid, okay?"
