Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Alistair and Fee trounced into the Magical Concepts class. Only to find it completely empty. Which was odd. Alistair was pretty sure they'd been running late, warbling his eyesbrows he turned to face his friend. "This be the right place, arr?" Couldn't quite drop the accent. Felix had rocked the entire thing by pretending a butter knife was a cutlass and holding it in his teeth. Alistair had been chortling about it for most of the walk here. Though he was quite taken aback by being first. There weren't even any eager-to-learn Ravenclaw's here. Or a Professor. The teen glanced about the classroom one more time.

"Shoulda brought our cutlasses, coulda had a duel!" He couldn't resist bellowing it out of his system. It felt kinda good. He laughed a bit and moved further into the classroom, brandishing a pretend sword. "Have at ye!" At that exclamation he lunged forward, his school cape billowing out behind him as he did so, pretending to stab forward with his air saber. If anyone would go alone with a fake duel, it was Felix. Or Laine. But Laine wasn't here yet; she was obviously off with everyone else who was apparently boycotting the Magical Concepts class. Obviously. A broad grin swept across his features.

Magical Concepts Professor

Professor Tortal entered the Magical Concepts classroom and promptly turned towards the blackboard; completely ignoring the two students (at least, that's what he assumed at least one of them were) as they... used the floor as a dueling ring. The professor wiped his finger against the grain of the off-green surface and removed a layer of chalk dust -- revealing the dark green beneath.

Charles sighed and swiped his hand across the surface. The hole in the coverage of the chalk spread like a fire until the board was wiped clean.

Waving his hand and promptly taking a seat at his desk, Professor Tortal opened up his desk and removed a piece of chalk. Holding out his palm, the chalk began to levitate, then hovered over to the chalkboard.

Good morning.

Today we will be having a classroom discussion about the philosophies and theories surrounding the magical concepts we have learned thus far. The content of our discussion will be overseen by a member of the Magical Law Enforcement, who may or may not become involved in any potential debate.

There will be no need for any wands. Please keep them away.

The past week have been a living hell for Athena. Preoccupied with her stupid thoughts about John, Athena entered the Magical Concepts Classroom. She was thankful that her mind would be now in the hands of one of her favourite classes; at least for an hour or so. Magical Concepts was just like DADA but not too specific about the Dark Arts. Athena loved chanting spells and basically, magic. She wondered who would she be if she never knew anything about the magical world nor Hogwarts.

She took the seat near Alistair, one of her Hufflepuff friends. 'Hello.' She smiled at him and when the professor came in, she stopped herself from shivering. The man have this look in his eyes that could kill. Athena has never been too judgemental before. But seeing this man changed her views. She wasn't against him or anything, he was just a bit weird.

As the professor finished writing on the board, Athena saw the two last sentences: "There will be no need for any wands. Please keep them away." As the words processed in her brain, Athena couldn't stop herself from butting in. 'But sir, we always use wands in our Magical Concepts class.' She started. 'I mean, that's the concept of this class. If we won't use wands, it just defeats the purpose of this class.' Athena bit her lip as she mouthed the last word. She has never been this too opinionated before! She was a disgrace, how could she even disrespect the professor.

Apologizing might make the matters worse, she thought. She'd better keep silent than to be more sorry.

Walking through the door of the Magical Concepts classroom hesitantly, Beth was somewhat relieved there were already some students inside, while her disturbingly sugary breakfast didn't seem to be helping at all. The girl had hoped she might be less likely to be thrown out with students in the room, but was pretty sure the professor wouldn't care if he really wished to expel her from the class.

Smiling at the two boys she had briefly seen at breakfast, Beth tried to attract the least possible attention with her low "Good morning" to the professor as she wondered where to sit. A front row near one of the walls seemed as inconspicuous yet well-placed seat as any. Laying down her bag and preparing a clean sheet of parchment on the desk, the Hufflepuff half-expected to be called out at any moment.

Because her OWL mark from Concepts last year was P, she couldn't sign up for the class in Sixth Year. At that time Beth hadn't minded as much since Magical Concepts had never seemed particularly useful to her. Excelling in Auror subjects and fulfilling her Volatilis goal for the year as well as catching up on some Quidditch training left her with little time for anything else despite her hard-working nature. But ever since Professor Tortal caught her practicing Volatilis and, to Beth's immense surprise, chose to enlighten her on the theory of it instead of reporting the incident, the girl's interest in the subject grew exponentially. He had even gone as far as to offer her guidance, which Beth had been too uncertain to accept so far. Whether it was her shyness or distrust in people she didn't know but finally decided to try and push her fears away to find out whether the offer still stood. At the very least she could learn something useful if she was allowed to sit through his classes.

Pondering whether she should ask the professor beforehand or just hope for the best, Beth noticed a message on the board. Revision of the past few years' worth of subject matter was exactly what she needed, but the advertised presence of a MLE official came across as a slightly strange occurrence to her. Perhaps they would be there just to offer some insights from experience, she thought.

Just then, Beth heard a familiar voice and turned to see Athena speaking to the professor. When did she come in? But that didn't matter because Beth's mood immediately lifted and made her relax slightly at the sight of her good friend as well as the nerve she showed when talking to the teacher. She had always been more into the subject than the Hufflepuff had ever been. And the two of them hadn't talked in ages - that had to be fixed. Although preferably not during a class she shouldn't have even been at. 'No trouble-making for you today.'

Lithia slowly wandering into the door of the Magical Concepts classroom gazing around slowly at the few other students that were inside, her attention then went to the Professor with a nod of her head. "Good morning." she said to him while she looked around to find a seat. She went to the second to last row near the wall and sat down setting her bag on the desk.

She pulled out a piece of parchment, ink and quill then set her bag beside her on the floor. Her morning wasn't really that exciting except for the short conversation she had with another Ravenclaw student, other then that it was pretty much the same as usual. She ran a hand through her black hair gently as she waited patiently for more students to come in so the class would start.

She looked around seeing a few Hufflepuff students and one other Ravenclaw within the classroom already, she wondered to herself who they actually were considering she was really never one to jump into a conversation unless she really felt like it. She liked being more quiet, plus she was also pretty shy around people she didn't know well. She set her elbow on the desk then perched her head up with her hand slowly drifting in and out of own depths of her mind.

Felix smiled at Alistair. "Aye. Magical Con-seepts be here, me think," he said, the pirate accent growing stronger. He looked around, a bit disturbed at the sight of an empty classroom. It looked much different this way, when there were no students to muck it up, and no Professer to swing around his authority like the giant, deadly weapon it was. It was much more... peaceful, he decided. Similar to the way a small village was before the pirates arrived.

"I'da beat you, if we had," Fee promised, mostly to himself. "Hello, sir! Bonjour! Hola!" He said to the Professer, as the man entered. The last two were the only words he understood in those languages, and even then he wasn't sure he'd gotten them correct. It was, however, fun to try. He put his hands up, surrendering. "Ye win, o' course. Come n' sit, matey. Can't 'ave the old legs givin' out now, can we?" Upon reading the message on the chalk board, the Hufflepuff grinned. Wands were boring, and for whatever reason, he was glad they were unnecessary for today's lesson.

And after a moment, he realized that his was currently in the Common Room, tucked beneath his pillow, where it usually stayed. "This be my lucky day," Fee murmered thoughtfully, wiggling his toes in his boots. Heaving his favorite large, rainbow-speckled bag onto the desk, he looked at the Professor patiently, trying to remember if he'd left any other school-related items in his room.

(Sorry, but I didn't have much time.)

John entered class

John took his position next to Athena, John read the scribble written on the blackboard.

John's face fell when he read that they needed to put their wands away. John knew that it was unwise to question Tortal's teaching methods, however, right when he had finished putting his wand away, Athena had already done just that. John looked at Athena with a look of amusement and bemusement, Athena wasn't one to do anything rash, least of all question a teachers methods in class.

John smiled, it did seem as though he was having an impact on her.

Alistair backed out of the way of the teacher, as he billowed past. Feeling slightly silly, but not really showing that outwardly. "A'Course!" Alistair agreed boisterously. "I be the most fearsome pirate to scourge the seas!" A tiny grin before turning his back to the front of the classroom and finding a suitable seat. Since the teacher arrived, more people had filed in. "Good day to ye, Beth!" He greeted with a large smile her way. Beth was a good sort of person, she'd helped him out during Defence Club activities... wandwork was not a particular forte, but he was clever enough to get around it most times. He waved politely at Athena and John before promptly ignoring everything else in the room and reading the board. No wands. Oi! They coulda used their wands as swords, eh? Though he cringed at the thought of what would happen if they crossed blades.

He let out a low chuckle at Athena's question. Unable to resist. Sometimes you just had to learn theory. What good would a debate do if a person was worried about getting a spell flung at them. Alistair rather liked the idea of a debate. Debate. Ate. Ate. He probably wouldn't partake much, just listen. As he always did. Alistair glanced over at Fee's comment and raised an eyebrow. "You been wandering around without your wand, mate?" That was worrisome. Considering what was happening in the world. Though his jaunty grin showed nothing of his concerns, other than the fact that they would have been unable to have a wand-sword battle. Alistair was too cautious to not have his wand with him at all times. Relaxing into his chair, not really caring how the teacher answered his question he dropped his head into his arms and closed his eyes.

Athena stood there silently after the sudden outburst. She heard the door open and saw Beth. Feeling that maybe her bestfriend wanted to be left alone, she just smiled to not attarct attention on Beth. Athena turned back to the teacher then all of a sudden John appeared by her side. She looked at him then at Beth. Both the people she cared about were in the room. Both are not in good terms with each other. Athena realised that she needed to sort this out.

'I mean no disrespect, sir. I'm sorry.' She apologised to the professor as she sat down beside her boyfriend. 'Hey.' She started. 'I hope I didn't embarrass you or something. Gosh, way to be a good girlfriend!' She chuckled. 'By the way, in case you don't know, Beth just walked in. I mean, I don't know what to do. I haven't talked to her. I don't know if she knows about us yet. What do I say to her, John?' Athena was concenred enough that the situation was giving her a slight headache. As she calmed down, she turned to Beth to wave and mouthed 'Hey'.

Athena put a smile back on her face as Alistair waved back at her. She waved... again. And said 'Wassup?' WASSUP?! What was with her today? First, the sudden outburst then now, awkward moments?

Her bestfriend versus her boyfriend, who would she pick? She hoped that she didn't need to pick one, but instead have both of those important people in her life.

"Actually, concepts are the concept of the class, idiot," Ian blurted out. He was sitting in the back, leaning smugly in his chair. "Almost everything in Magical Theory is theory."

Ian was especially smug today. Magical Concepts was his forte. Hadn't he been exploring them all the while trying to survive everything Azariah and Alphonse threw at him? Also, he may or may not have gotten to second base in the Unused Classroom this morning with someone who may or may not be Tinsley Carmicheal, which could be considered a confidence booster.

Ian was a little concerned about how this was going to go with an M.L.E. representative. Wouldn't they have to avoid talking about the elementium? Ian just hoped it wasn't...

"Good morning, everyone" said Kemp as he entered the room.

He crossed the room. He saw Pointe du Lac lose his balance in his chair, barely managing to catch himself with an expression which could be best described as "oh crap."

Filled with a commanding feeling, Kemp smiled.

"Professor Tortal," said Kemp, extending his hand to the Magical Concepts professor.

Kemp eyed Tortal, scrutinizing him. This class was on Kemp's hit list, and he was sure Tortal knew it. Kemp had heard rumors about what it was that Tortal taught, and he was sure that Tortal was overstepping his boundries as a professor.

Lithia's gaze was mostly focused on her desk under she looked up and around the classroom, she blew the hair out of her face with a bored expression waiting for the class to start. Hearing someone blurt out something, her icy blue eyes shifted over to the back of the classroom. Her head gently tilted to one side before she looked to the door hearing a "Good morning" from someone that had just entered.

She blinked a few good times before she muttered a "Good morning..." then looked back down to her desk and up again as the man extended his hand to the professor. Confused at this point, she shrugged her shoulders and went back to her daydreaming and thoughts until the class would offically start. At this rate...the class will be over before it can even begin... she thought to herself.

Dave, who had been sitting beside Ian, snickered when his friend seemingly blurted out an insult at Athena, openly calling her an idiot in the middle of the classroom. Dave generally wasn't the bullying type, but it would have been against his Slytherin nature to give up the opportunity to laugh at someone else's misfortune.

"Airhead," he commented to Ian in regard to the Ravenclaw girl. He laughed a little at himself, twirling his quill in between his knuckles and doodling on the corner of his parchment. Dave opened his mouth to continue the attack, but was interrupted by something quite unexpected.

Abraxas Kemp, the head of the Office of Magical Law Enforcement, walked into their classroom. Dave raised his eyebrows incredulously, and Ian nearly fell out of his chair beside him, seemingly mirroring Dave's surprise. Mouth slightly agape, Dave stared at the man as he entered and greeted the professor, eying him with a particular suspicion.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Dave said under his breath. "Of all people, him!?" he continued, still completely shocked.

Seventh Year Harold the Great

In a mild jog, Harry reached the door to the Magical Concepts classroom and took a moment to catch his breath. He wasn't late but not far from it either, so he didn't waste any more time in the corridor and slipped inside.

Seeing mostly everyone was already there, he hurried to find an empty seat - hopefully by some of his friends, although he didn't mind speaking to 'strangers' either. His eyes fell on a fellow Ravenclaw, sitting all by herself, and he hesitated no longer. Dropping his satchel next to his chair by her desk, he sat down and turned to the girl with a wide smile. "Hey, you," he greeted somewhat cheerfully, "anything up?"

Although his relationship with Eve wasn't the same as when they got together half a year ago, and Harry knew he had only himself to blame, the boy was hoping to meet with his girlfriend for lunch and spend more time with her from then on. Despite what he'd always been led to believe, school wasn't everything.

Once he readied his quill and parchment his head swiveled to look towards the front of the classroom. Harold's eyes widened in surprise. "What's he doin' here?" he asked Lithia, perhaps a little louder than he should have.

As always, Alistair managed to conjure a smile on her face as she passed the boy. "Good day to you, Captain Alistair," she replied in kind before claiming a chair. Beth couldn't be any more grateful for the people sharing her yellow house. There was certainly much less drama than in any of the other houses.

The drop of her brows as Athena chose to sit with John instead of her was an unmistakable sign of disappointment. But Beth tried to shake it of swiftly, which wasn't half as hard when she heard a boy behind her insulting her best friend. Her head spun around to find a smug-looking Ian. She should really stop being surprised by the behavior of Slytherin students.

"Seriously? Are you a First year? It's not like she asked you," she retorted with a slight, not necessarily ill-willed, hiss. Although Beth had never been one to confront people, there was this indisputable urge to defend her friends no matter what. Only then had she noticed Dave, who seemed to have more to add. While she didn't really care for Ian, albeit silently admiring his bravery from what she'd seen at DC meetings, Beth owed Dave her life and considered him a friend so she didn't feel like arguing with him. But before either of them could say anything else the door revealed one Abraxas Kemp.

Beth's lips parted as she followed him to the front of the class with her gaze. She observed the exchange between the professor and Head of MLE with keen eyes, not daring to utter a single syllable; almost holding her breath. She had expected some Auror but never Kemp himself. The girl started to develop a rather bad feeling about this lesson.

"We're all already over that, Snape," said Ian, glaring at Beth quickly before turning his attention back towards Kemp and Tortal.

"Aurors are watching all the classes," said Ian to Dave, quietly, "I didn't think Kemp was in on it, though. We're unlucky. Let's just hope some idiot doesn't mention the you-know-what or Tortal's had it."

It wasn't as though Ian felt anything sentimental about Tortal--the man had always freaked Ian out just a little bit--but Ian respected him as a scholar of magic. He didn't think Kemp would appreciate some of the things Tortal discussed, even if it was from an academic standpoint. If it came to a contest between Tortal and Kemp, Ian wanted Tortal to win.

Dave's attention was ripped away from Kemp and Professor Tortal when Beth turned around and scolded Ian putting Athena down. Dave felt an extreme sense of guilt wash over his body when she made eye contact with him, and instantly regretted taking part in the exchange. It wasn't that Dave was against being a little mean, it was that he genuinely cared about Beth's opinion of him. She was one of the few people who knew about... him... and the last thing he wanted was for her to think poorly of him. He looked apologetically at her when Ian retorted.

"Since when does Dave McKelvey care what a Hufflepuff thinks? Times really have changed," he remarked to himself, making a mental note to apologize to her later on before listening to Ian whisper to him.

"Yeah... the you-know-what," Dave echoed Ian's words, which were clearly referring to the elementium. At first, Dave felt panic grip his insides, wondering if Ian knew about his power, but quickly remembered that it was a subject which was often discussed in the class, despite not being part of the official course material.

"Maybe that's why he's here?" Dave half questioned, half suggested. "The only reason that Kemp would be here is that he knows what's going on and wants to put a stop to it. Why else would he appear?"

Lithia's thoughts were disrupted when someone sat next her, she pressed her lips into a thin line and slowly turned her head towards the boy that sat next to her. She never really expected anyone to sit by her, most of her classes she sat alone which really didn't bother her the slightest bit. "Oh, hello." she said softly. She looked up to the front of the class then back to him. "Nothing much, just waiting for class to start I guess.." she added.

She ran a hand through her hair nervously, she never really was one to spark up a conversation with someone. Kind like she did this morning with another Ravenclaw boy named Luke whom she had never even noticed until today. She really doesn't pay attention to anything but homework and drawing. She had a few friends, but barely seen any of them lately. Maybe its time to make some new friends... she thought to herslef.

With that in mind, she offered a soft smile to the Ravenclaw boy offering her hand to him. " I'm Lithia, by the way." She tilted her head to one side then looked up to Kemp and the Professor, after hearing Harold's comment she looked at him and shushed him softly. "I haven't quite figured that out yet..." she said softly. She shrugged her shoulders then offered another small smile.

Sixth Year, Ravenclaw

After eating loads of breakfast, Yvonne walked into the Magical Concepts Classroom, feeling unwell. She looked around to see any familiar faces but was unsuccessful. Dissapointed she sat behind a girl with blonde hair and beside her was a Ravenclaw guy. It was her first day and everything seemed so diffrent from Beauxbatons.

I miss Beauxbatons, I wonder if I could ever cope up with the change... Not that I don't like it here. Hogwarts seems nice but it doesn't have the same atmosphere as my old school...

With as much determination as she could summon, Yvonne mentally slapped herself, took a deep breath and tried to look as alive as possible. She even tried to understand what was going on despite her current situation. Homesickness was a very serious disease, and unfortunately neither healers nor doctors have found a cure yet.

Feeling friendly, she turned to her seat mate and smiled. 'Bonjour. I'm Yvonne. What's your name?' She recall hearing the guy's name was Harry or something. Yvonne was shy. But she figured if she didn't talk to anyone, her life at Hogwarts would be as worse as her life at Beauxbaton.

... There will be no need for any wands. Please keep them away.

Precious' shoulders dropped as she placed her bag on the table. She paused before taking a seat - taking a chance to glance around at the classroom surrounding her. Some old faces and others that she did not want to see... Sighing, Precious took her seat near the back where the other two Slytherins occupied.

Not only was there no need for wands, but the class was also to be monitored. How old did they look? Ten? She was angered but she could not really do much. Instead, she sulked in her seat. She didn't bother to make contact with anyone else, because.. Well, why not? The decision stirred in her mind like a giant storm cloud. "Hey," she softly greeted Dave McKelvey with a small grin.
