| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Luce heard Rue behind her. Luce could've snapped that filth in half. How dare she even speak about Aiden! Luce thought. She turned to face Rue. "Go get a life, Everlove, and stop kissing other people's boyfriends. Don't be such a sheep fucker." She whispered to Rue. Did Rue honestly think Luce would react to this petty insults...but Luce felt like crying. Aiden was avoiding her. But that was it. She would find him...perhaps on their birthday..but how was it that two people connected could drift apart so far? Questions swarmed in Luce's mind. Why would Aid talk to shit like her? Luce questioned in her mind. Dead Girl, Walking. Dead Girl, Walking. Dead Girl, Walking. I am a dead girl, walking. I know nothing of this war! My friends won't tell me, like they think I'm too weak to handle it. I am a dead girl, walking... And if I don't get information soon, I'll be a dead girl, dead. Luce took a deep breath. She would ask Hellius. Hellius would tell her, hopefully. Ignoring Everlove, Luce tried to focus on her book, but all she saw was Dead Girl, Walking. |

Hufflepuff Head of House & Charms Professor

Students began to file in, and each of them gave her the usual "Afternoon, Professor Canton." or "How are you, Professor Canton?". Aria made sure to respond in kind to each of them, but was distracted by one of her students, Amera Percy. The girl had stopped walking to simply stare off into space, as if lost in thought. The Head of Hufflepuff House had been concerned for the girl for weeks, ever since Amera chose to give up her Prefect position. "Amera? May I speak to you after class?" Amera gave a small nod of approval, but then returned to her work. The class was soon filled with twittering birds of all different colors. Bright yellow canaries, and soft blue jays twittered or exploded, flew or fell. Aria gave thumbs up, or words of advice when needed, but chose to let her students figure the spell out on their own. Unfortunately, not every student decided to participate. Terry Boot, a normally extraordinary pupil, took ages to study the textbook. His wand lay untouched by his side. "Poor kid. Belleford probably told him about Mister Nightshade..." The news had brought abrupt depression to many Professors in the staff room that morning, Aria included. A student snatched from the safety of Hogwarts?! It was unheard of! Her Hufflepuffs would certainly take the news badly, but the Ravenclaws would be depressed for days. Who knew if Tristan was alive or dead? Nobody deserved the torture of an enigma like that! Her internal monologue was interrupted by the shrill voice of two of her arguing students. "Miss Everlove! Miss Daniels! Kindly stop your argument and return to your work. Your peers are trying to work." She was not in the mood to tolerate such nonsense! |

Cosette Bedeaux moseyed into the Charms classroom wearing a Ravenclaw scarf and a bored expression. Although Charms class was a thrill in comparison to History of Magic, Cosette could not recall a time when she had truly been excited for the class. She had always struggled with successfully conjuring the required charms, being that she was naturally reckless with a wand. Today, like most days, Cosette put herself in a chair beside Terry's. She immediately felt tension in the surrounding air, a feeling which seemed to be growing more and more common when Terry was near. She glanced longingly at him. Oh, she did miss the old Terry Boot, the boy who always acted so incredibly friendly and happy and sweet. Now his lips were downturned, and Cosette wondered if they might stay like this forever. Cosette restrained a frustrated sigh. "Terry, please. It paints me to see you upset, and lately, upset is all you have been. I don't know what's been bringing you down over these past months. Frankly, I am afraid to ask. But please, do pick your head up and try not to be such a stick in the mud. For me?" Okay, so perhaps she could have been a bit more gentle, but it bothered Cosette to see her best friend in such a foul mood. |

If Terry felt upset before, it was nothing compared to how he felt when Cosette snapped at him. She didn't have to go through what they went through in the office. The girl was completely unaware of the kidnapping, and Terry was afraid to tell her. "Cosette..." The Ravenclaw paused to take in the moment. He probably looked ridiculous, moping in the middle of a class. Since when has Terry Boot not paid attention in class? Today was a rarity. Either way, it was unfair to leave Cosette in the dark. But was Charms class the best place to tell her? He didn't want to toy with her emotions like that. "Cosette, calm down! I've been through enough today... It is only fair to say this, but I don't know how you'll take it." It felt like the classroom fell into a hushed silence, as if Terry and Cosette were the only two students in existence. The Ravenclaw dropped his voice, and leaned in to whisper to the girl he considered his best friend and girlfriend. "I was called to the Headmistress' office. There was a lot of students there, prefects, and a few kids from Defense Club. Oh, and Bellatrix Black. That girl gives me the chills, I don't know why." He paused for a breath, and tried to give her a reassuring look. "Tristan Nightshade was kidnapped by the Knights last night. Don't ask me, I don't know how. Belleford wanted me in the office because she needed a Ravenclaw boy to take his prefect duties, for the time being. I guess the lockdown will be more enforced." Terry let out a loud sigh, and sat back in his chair. "I'm sorry, Cosette. I wasn't trying to get you down." ooc: I have writer's block, so if this is completely incoherent. I'm sorry

Smiling for no apparent reason, May walked into the charms classroom. She was aware that she was almost late, but she was determined to make up for it. She felt more energized than she normally did, and was just looking forward to going to bed. She smiled at the professor, and took one of the last empty seats. Part of her felt slightly sad that she didn't have anyone to sit next to. It made her feel lonely, and ever so slightly like a nerd. Brushing the thought from her mind, she pulled out her book and flicked to page 127 as they had been asked to. She made sure that she soaked in all the information before she took out her wand. She thought for a while, thinking about what she wanted her bird to look like. She imagined a small bird with a slim figure. It would be a dark blue, with a black strip down it's back and on the edge of its wings. She had never been the best at charms, but she was willing to give it a try. Taking a deep breath, she pointed her wand in front of her. "Avis," she murmured, trying to keep nothing but the image of the bird in her head. Nothing happened. Fabulous. She tried to focus her thoughts, and lifted her wand again. "Avis," she said louder, trying to make her voice clear. A little bird appeared, looking exactly as she imagined. It flew around her head for a while, twittering away, before it flew high and disappeared. She decided to try conjuring more. "Avis," she said one more time. This time three birds appeared. One went to the far side of the room, another flew high into the air, and the last went off to terrorise the other birds which had been conjured by other students. She tried to keep an eye on them to determine how long they would last. Probably not too long, considering her expertise. ((OOC: someone can come and talk to her if they want)) |

"Er....right. Positive thoughts. Got it." Katherine smiled at her housemate. While she wasn't entirely sure just how thinking "positive thoughts" would help her make a bird appear she was willing to take any advice she could--espically since Beth had already succeeded with the spell. Ok...ok so this one is going to work. Just-- what did the book say? "Take in energy from around you" or something? What does that even...Wait, no POSITIVE thoughts. Ok. And focus on the bird, picture it in your... This went on for several more minutes but, a few failed attempts later, Kate managed a rather small blue bird. It faded and dissapeared after a few moments, but the Hufflepuff was elated nonetheless. After that, it only took three or four more tries at the spell before a small bird was hopping around on the school desk, twittering and cocking it's head at all of the ruckus in the room. "Ok, so, it's not flying...but still!" Said Kate, grinning at Beth. "Thanks!" |

Janice entered the Charms Classroom. Janice loved this class especially as it was Professor Canton was the one teaching. She loved Professor Canton; she was just too cool to be a professor. Janiced waved at her and sat down behind her half-sister, Athena. Her sister was already seating with two people; Janice was assuming her best friend and... JOHN HOLLAND??!! The filthy muggleborn! How dare he sit beside a pureblood! Janice leaned forward to whisper to Athena. 'What are you doing with that muggleborn?!' Janice crinkled her face. 'You really don't get it, do you? And he IS John Holland; no one in their right mind associates with him. Do you understand?!' Angry as she was, Janice held herself back and started writing down the things that were on the board. As she wrote, her mind was full of nasty things. Hating John Holland, reaping him away from her sister... killing him? Janice shook her head from the mad idea. 'Filthy mudblood daring to befriend a pureblood... Janice whipered to herself, loud enough for John to hear. The girl chanted the spell to make a bird appear at the tip of her wand bu unfortunately, nothing popped up. She hated herself. At her last attempt, a bird appeared for a second and disappeared. Jnice was not good with Charms but, she tried her best. After all, a pureblood should be able to do anything. OOC: John, this post should help John and the Brotherhood to have more reasons to prank Janice. Edited by Janice Fairchild, Jun 16 2011, 10:19:13 AM.

"Hey" John said to Athena as she took the seat next to John. "This charm is really cool. Avis" John said, and more birds shot out of his wand and joined the others in the air. As he watched the birds fly around in the air, the idea for an awesome prank developed in his mind. He scribbled some notes down so that no one could see. He'd share the idea with the others after class. Soon the classroom was thick with birds, all hovering above the students heads. Soon enough, Athena and John were joined by Athena's spanish friend from breakfast. However, not long after, another person entered the classroom and sat behind Athena. Janice Fairchild, a nasty piece of work, whose cousin Leighton, seemed to constantly be giving Jack a hard time. John, however, had no idea that Athena was Janice's step sister, so it came to someone of a surprise when Janice leaned over to talk to Athena. 'Filthy mudblood daring to befriend a pureblood" Janice whispered, obviously loud enough so John could hear it. "Why don't you slither back to that hole in the ground you came from, you and your sister can get lost there as well" John said out of the corner of his mouth quietly to Janice. John followed that up by loudly calling out, "JANICE, STOP DISRUPTING US, WE'RE TRYING TO CONCENTRATE ON OUR WORK". He knew this was sure to get the professors attention and get Janice in trouble. 'Hey chicka.' Athena greeted her best friend with a one arm hug. She then continued with her work and looked at John's spell. No doubt, he would be better at this than her. Although, Athena was good too. John was just better on the technical side of the spell. 'So, did you like the soccer game this morning?' she asked Maria. She then concentrated and chanted the spell. 'Avis.' Shots of birds flew out of her wand. She smiled; satisfied. Athena was having a fun with all of it when her half-sister, Janice, came and whispered something to her. As much as she loved her sister, Athena was revolted the way she said something about her boyfriend. She turned around to face Janice. 'Sissy, I get it. See, he is my boyfriend!' she said sternly. 'You don't need to tell me what I need to do. I'm sorry. I love you but John is a nice man. I don't care if he is a muggleborn or not. Alright?!' Athena hissed. She turned away from her sister when then again, she insulted John. 'JANICE!!!' Athena said angrily. 'Stop it!' she lowered her voice. She didn't want to get the Professor's attention. Athena touched John's arm. 'Sorry. Just ignore her.' she smiled at him. Athena didn't look at him in the eye; she was embarrassed by her sister's actions. She shook her head disappointingly and looked at her best friend, looking for support. |

Henry entered the Charms Classroom. He walked at the centre aisle to look for anyone he knew. Sadly, he saw unfamiliar faces and John Holland. So he sat beside a female Ravenclaw; he believed her name was May. 'Hey.' Henry smiled at her. He wrote down what was on the board and sighed when he saw the Homework part. He shook his head then continued writing anyway. Charms wasn't Henry's best subject. In fact, he never even tried before. But everything were different now. The Wizarding world was in great danger and apart from that, he was growing up. He needed to grow up and face the reality. 'Avis.' Henry chanted with his wand out. Nothing came out. 'Avis.' Again, nothing. 'Avis.' Nothing. And so on. Henry was too frustrated to try again. He put his wand down on the desk and cleared his mind out. 'Your name's May, right?' He asked even though he already knew the answer. Henry was trying to calm down by talking to this girl. |

'All I can say to you right now is I'm really disappointed in you. I though you knew better than that. That guy and that muggleborn best friend of yours. Ugh.' Janice rolled her eyes. Zack entered the Charms Classroom.' He immediately sat to where Amera was; discreetly. As he sat beside her, Zack clumsily took out his quill and parchment. He fished out his book from his bag but he then remembered he forgot something: his ink. Zack shook his head in disappointment. There was nothing he could do now. It would be too rude if he ask the Professor if he could get out of class to get his ink. He just wouldn't bother; Zack didn't want the students' heads to turn to his direction. Instead, he turned to Amera with his beautiful smile. 'Hey Amera.' He said. 'Uhm... Can I please borrow your ink?' Zack though it probably wasn't the right time to ask her this since she looked all sulk. But Zack didn't have a choice. He would need to ask someone for ink, or else he wouldn't be able to write anything and Amera was the closest person to him. |

"Tristan..?" Cosette's heart was slowly sinking into her stomach. How was it possible? No, no, no. No. It couldn't be possible. It couldn't be possible because of all this. All this security, all this madness. All the monitoring, the restricting, the surveying, everything. Did it mean nothing? How could it when a poor innocent young boy like Tristan Nightshade to be snatched up from the castle like a baby from its cradle? "Terry, I..." She hung her head regretfully. "I didn't know." Cosette eyed the shiny new 'P' badge pinned haphazardly to Terry's chest. God, he must think her a monster now. Foolishly, she extended a hand to touch Terry's. "I'm sorry." |

Maria was finally getting the hang of it! Every successful spell lifted her spirits, while those failures lowered them a bit. Nevertheless, she was more positive than some minutes ago, and this improved both her spellwork and mood. However, she told herself not to get to eager. She still had to focus and draw energy. "Avis." she said seriously, and this time five yellow birds appeared, tweeting and flying. Her only problem was how to control them, and as she pondered, she saw them fly out of the classroom window. She bent her head towards her notebook and was about to scribble some ideas for bird controlling, when Athena spoke to her. Athena was her best friend, but she didn't like being interrupted when brainstorming. She lifted her head again gravely and looked to Athena. "Hola, Bella. Si, I enjoyed the game." She forced a smile, apparently irritable. "I love football—so why shouldn't I enjoy this one?" She went back to scribbling some notes. Controlling the birds…she needed a connection. How would she create a connection? Focusing of course…she wrote that one…lots and lots of focus…more energy, but this time more specifically from the room and to the birds…willing them to a direction… She put her quill down and lifted her wand; her lips apart and ready—but then she was interrupted by whispered insults. How was she to concentrate? This…this…girl…was more into insulting than studying. And what was worse—her insults were unoriginal. She has had enough of those belittling, discriminating, insults of blood. She heard the intentional loud voice of John, calling Professor Canton over. That was good. She exchanged looks with Athena, whose eyes were silently calling for back up. Blood rushed to Maria's face as she shifted her body to raise an eyebrow at Janice. "I pity you." she whispered controllably. "That's unoriginal. I think it's overused too—don't you have anything else to say?" She put a knuckle under her chin, furrowed her brow, and watched Janice Fairchild, as if thinking hard about something. "No, no, I don't think so. I think that would require too much effort for you to handle." And now that she said her part, she twisted back into her original position. She said too much already; she didn't want to get into trouble. She bit her lip and closed her eyes, trying her best to calm down. Positive thinking. Positive thinking. The Charms homework. Focus. Birds. Birds. Birds. To the left. To the right. Birds. Birds. Avis. The Charms Homework. She chanted this mantra in her head and gripped her wand tightly. She needed a few more minutes to calm down. May was looked up, mildly surprised as a Gryffindor boy sat down in the empty seat beside her. "Oh, hello," she said, turning back quickly as one of her birds disappeared. She sighed, picking her wand up to try and create another bird. Her eyes slid sideways, watching as the boy wrote down the required work. As had been the case with her, he didn't seem to have any of his friends in this class. "Avis," she murmured, a bright red bird that was larger than her previous attempts joining the others which had all gathered near her head. So far she wasn't really sure how to control them as such. Something to work on for the rest of the class. She noticed the boy beside her having a hard time with the spell, and tried to remember what his name was. She didn't know him, but had seen him around once or twice she was sure. His name started with H didn't it? Harry? May nervously flicked her hair out of her face. "Yep, that's me. May Rhietta. And you are...." May trailed off, desperately trying to recall his name, but it just wouldn't come to her. |

The boy took a heavy sigh and tore his hand away from Cosette's. "It's fine, Cosette. At times, I simply wish you would think before you speak. You never know what people have been through." Terry inclined his head and flipped to a random page in his textbook. "I never realized he was gone, and I share a dorm with him!" Swift as a fox, he slammed his book shut and attempted to focus his busy mind. "I don't understand. How did this happen? Why Tristan? I was just as available for kidnapping. Tristan doesn't deserve his torture...to be ripped away from his peers and friends like that." His breath was ragged, releasing in harsh segments. There wasn't anything he could do to stop these events from unfolding, was there? The boy shouldn't be the one at fault here, it wasn't his duty to secure the castle. It was Abraxas Kemp's. "This is Kemp's doing. If he bothered to truly secure the castle, then I wouldn't be having this conversation. Tristan would be safely at Hogwarts, where he truly belongs, and I would be attempting a clever charm with my best friend. There wouldn't be tears. Depression would be a myth, and there would still be hope. Instead, the last murmur of safety and solitude has been stripped away like it was nothing." "I will not stand for this!" His voice was harsher, louder, more demanding. It only gained to earn him a disapproving glance from his Professor, followed by a hint of sympathy. "Does she understand what I'm going through? Terry hoped so, they couldn't be in this alone. But if he rebelled against the very influential force of Abraxas Kemp, would she follow? Who would follow? Who would fight against his cause, and attempt to conform him to the strictness of Kemp? Surely, he would not be alone. His friends, the like-minded companions he surrounded himself with, would likely follow his line of thought. But who else? Who would stand for the oppression of a man who failed to perform his duties? Terry closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair again, as if he was deep in thought. When he opened them once more, he gave his girlfriend a very direct look. "Cosette..." His voice was barely audible, indicating his inward weakness, "I'm afraid." |

After she gave her explanation, the Hufflepuff turned and began to go through the motions of the class.
