Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Walking quickly into the corridor, Jess didn't even know where she had ended up. She remembered walking out the hall and seeing two boys arguing, but she made no time to find out what and found herself running up the stairs until she came to any door she deemed untouched. As she pushed the door open, she couldn't hear a word in the corridor and decided that it would be a good place to stop. Running down further and deeper into the corridor, she found a corner where shadows were cast and people may not notice her hair. Finally resting, she sat down against the wall bringing her knees to her face and hiding against them.

Tears began to flow but she made no attempt to stop them as she usually would, there were many factors to this. First on that list was what had just happened in the great hall with Will, with Ray and Winnie, with everyone there. Her thoughts turned to Henry and guilt covered her face for a moment. She had just left him there, making a scene and then walking off. She had tried to make the mood go up with a joking song, but from this everything had just gotten worse. Will would end up hating her now; she could see that in her head. She didn't care if Winnie hated her; in fact Jess wasn't too fond of that girl herself. She was probably with Ray now anyway; Jess just wondered why Francis couldn't have shown up further.

Then the upset branched off into missing her family, she had never spent Christmas away from them. She never wanted too, but she was forced too. She missed everything; if she had been home nothing would have happened here. She began to regret her decision to come to Hogwarts in the first place, shaking her head and sniffing slightly as she kept her head down attempting to calm herself down. Sitting in silence, Jess waited until she was calmed down enough to make her way to the common room. She was in no state to do so right now.

Will's mind with clouded with confusion as he rushed after Jess. It seemed like the right thing to do, but he knew the action could have the potential to put his and Athena's relationship in jeopardy once again. It always seemed to be teetering on the edge of disaster anyway, so this situation was similar to any other. He wasn't sure if Jess knew he was following her, but he caught sight of her just often enough to realize where she was headed. It was difficult to keep up her quick pace without her taking notice, but he attempted to keep his distance for the time being. Dealing with women was an impossible task and it was never possible to keep them happy for any extended amount of time. He envied those who were so sure of themselves. William wished he could have the same confidence in everything. Jess always seemed so sure of herself and yet now she was breaking down.

Before revealing himself, William paused. Here goes nothing, Will thought. He took a few steps forward before he was standing directly in front of Jess. She was making absolutely no attempt to cover up her emotions now as tears flowed down her cheeks. William took in a deep breath, standing in front of her awkwardly before taking a seat next to her quietly and without a word. He wasn't sure what to say, how to approach any certain topic. He didn't want her to think he automatically had assumed that her break down was because of or about him, but part of him felt that he could have very well contributed.

"Jess," William began, clearing his throat to break the thick silence, "will you tell me what's on your mind?" Will's voice sounded cautious and unsure. He had never been a notably good comforter or confidant, but he supposed he owed it to Jess to try and be one. And maybe by some miracle something would actually come to mind that he could say to make her feel better. William had been dealing with overly emotional females for quite some time by then, you'd think he would have been used to it by then. Despite this, he still felt awkward sitting there.

Wiping her eyes and letting herself sniff slightly, she began to think of positive things that could stop these tears that decided to overtake her. Hearing herself hiccup, she covered her mouth looking up a little thinking she would see an empty corridor. But her eyes met the form of a student walking closer, she adverted her eyes not seeing who it was that decided to take a seat next to her. "Jess" Her eyes widened just a little as her name was spoken by a voice she knew all too well, that of William Anderson. Why had he followed her? Surely Athena wouldn't be too happy with him running after her, Athena seemed to be easily upset and from what Jess had seen, she loved drama. Jess hated drama like this, pranks and feuds were fun but being upset because of the opposite sex and occasionally the same sex. There was no need for that.

"Will you tell me what's on your mind?" His voice seemed to be quieter than usual, probably because he was nervous. She guessed this because she was the last person cry in front of others; maybe he saw a few tears or something. Either way, she wasn't sure how to answer. She missed her family, she hated his sister and his girlfriend made a scene for no reason. The last two she shouldn't probably mention, she didn't want another ball of anger added to the list. "This Christmas sucks" That was all she could muster for the moment, the only joy she had so far was when she was in the common room with Edward and Sierra. Sniffing a little, she wiped her eyes once more and managed to let herself speak.

"I wish I never came down for breakfast... Just go to your girlfriend Will before she comes running in crying about how you don't care when it's obvious that you actually do..." Jess looked away, pulling her knee's closer and muttering the next part. "She should stop making a fuss she's lucky to have you" Sighing and sitting back, Jess looked out to the corridor watching in case someone did run in.

"I think a lot of people are feeling that way," Will said in response. Everyone was stuck at Hogwarts because of the attacks two months ago and many were missing spending the holidays with their families. The events of Halloween night were also still fresh on everyone's minds, perhaps more that day than any other. Remembering everyone being so happy on Christmas day was hard to think of for those who had lost someone. Will had known those who had passed, but hadn't been as personally affected by it as many others were, like Athena and Winnie. He wasn't sure exactly what Jess was referring to when she drew that conclusion, but he assumed it had something to do with breakfast.

Jess knew just how to make him feel guilty about the whole thing. He felt partially responsible for Athena's actions as he spent so much time with her. "Athena knows I care about her. She's just having a tough time right now," Will said, always quick to defend his girlfriend. He didn't think Athena's reaction had been necessary, but then again, the song hadn't been either. You couldn't just expose little details like that and expect for it to be okay. Will wasn't sure how Athena would react to his chasing after Jess, but he found he didn't care so much at that point. He'd deal with that when the time came. Jess's next words made him pause for a moment. It was always hard to figure out what girls meant when they said things like that. Will brushed off the comment.

"Is that what this is all about... my girlfriend upset you?" Will asked. He wasn't really sure what to say in regard to that since he couldn't just throw Athena under the bus and quit defending her. Will knew she tended to overreact to things perhaps on too many occasions, but sometimes the action merited her responses. He didn't really think that her tears were in response to just Athena. He had a feeling he'd missed something else when he'd left, but he didn't want to ask so instead he waited for Jess to tell him.

Jess sighed keeping her head away and lowered so he couldn't see her face. She knew people had lost their friends on Halloween, she wouldn't have even realised what had happened if her and Edward hadn't gone downstairs. He managed to protect her from anything that was when she realised that he was her super best friend. It may have sounded cheesy but she didn't care too much about how it sounded, just thinking about that made her want to be in the company of Edward. He'd tell her to shut the hell up and get a grip; that was something that would always make her giggle. She wondered what would have happened to her if someone she knew was in the fire or was killed; she shrugged the thought of not wanting to make herself teary again.

She began to think about what Will had said. He was referring to the time when the attack happened and that was why everyone was upset, because their friends had been lost. She wondered why no one was upset because their families were having a Christmas without them, every family was missing one or two people because of what happened. The families that have lost lives and the families who hadn't. This wasn't fair on anyone. She missed her family, why couldn't they all be sent home while Hogwarts was being repaired? These thoughts circled around her head, making the tears return to her cheeks. Suddenly hearing the next part, Jess raised an eyebrow quickly shaking her head and smirking.

"Why would I cry over your girlfriend?" She seriously wondered how she had given off the impression that his girlfriend had made her cry. If he didn't realised that she liked him just a little then she was actually quite glad, that would mean no one else would have noticed. Wiping her eyes and sniffing she looked back down messing with the corners of her robe. "I miss my family..." She whispered softly keeping her head down. "Everyone here has a brother or sister they can write to or a good friend who can get them though it but I've only been here for three months... I arrived on Halloween when everything happened and I still haven't got anyone who I'm close to..." Even Edward wasn't close enough; they weren't even close in that way. She felt completely alone at this point, shaking her head once more she wiped her eyes and sniffed. She just wanted to go home and leave this place at the moment, not even the thought of a good prank could cheer her up.

Will let out a slight, nervous laugh that seemed out of place. It sounded like a stupid thing to say when Jess repeated it out loud. "I didn't mean... like, she upset you by causing a scene?" Will said, trying to figure everything out. The second thing that had come out of her mouth had been regarding his girlfriend, so he had been sure that Athena had somehow contributed to Jess's breakdown. But she was right, what reason did she have to cry over Will's girlfriend? The two were practically complete opposites in personality and thus they didn't seem to mesh well at all in any case. Or, maybe it had less to do with Athena and more to do with Will being with Athena. William shook the thought, realizing that such a thing was completely ridiculous. Jess had a boyfriend and she'd always seemed to be completely happy with him, but where was he now? Jess clearly needed someone to talk to, why wasn't he there for her?

Now they were getting somewhere. William thought about her statement, wanting to respond with a comforting answer that showed he felt the same for his. Unfortunately, he would rather have been at Hogwarts than his home for the holidays. The thought was slightly saddening. At least Jess tended to prefer her family. William let out a long sigh. He realized that he couldn't fix this for her, though he could hardly stand to see her shed another tear. "I'll be here for you," Will said quietly, thinking of it as the only appropriate response to what she'd just said. Surely she felt close enough to Justin not to feel so alone, but from what she said, it didn't sound it. Will came close to voicing this thought, but thought better of it.

William paused for a few moments, trying to summon the right words and finding the task impossible. "You'll be home soon enough with your family," he assured her. "What are they like?" he wondered aloud. Will realized soon after that she probably didn't want to think that much about it, but maybe it would help her to talk about it. He found that despite how long he'd known Jess, he really didn't know all that much about her family or life at home. Will turned slightly to face her, trying to get her to look at him. It seemed she'd been avoiding eye contact ever since she'd started shedding tears.

Jess shook her head wiping away the last of the tears keeping her eyes on the ground. "Nah... You get use to the drama queen types you know?" She didn't mean to be offensive toward his girlfriend, but right now she thought that the Ravenclaw was extremely lucky and should not be pushing him away. Her thoughts turned onto her boyfriend, she wondered why she still considered them together some times. They hardly saw on another and when they did he wasn't the type she'd usually go for meaning sometimes she would get a little distracted causing a tiny argument. Another thing with him was she thought he had a crush on one of his friends; Jess could usually pick up when someone had a crush on someone else. She didn't want to see her boyfriend all over another girl, even dancing with someone else wasn't something she wanted to see.

But, she knew that would happen. She would go to the dance all dressed up and see him dancing with some other Hufflepuff; of course she would laugh when the girl's boyfriend came along and beat him up. But no one wants to feel as though your boyfriend is doing the dirty on you, right? Wiping her eyes with her sleeve, she began to sniff biting her lip and trying to push away the thoughts. "I'll be here for you" Hearing Will, Jess' head moved up a little more turning just slightly so she could see him out the corner of her eye. Listening to him, she began to smile slowly watching him for a few moments. She turned her head a little more revealing her puffy red eyes, a few tears still hanging on her cheek. Moving her hair out the way, she moved her head down resting it on his shoulder and looking forward.

"I'm the only magical person in my family... My brother isn't magical so it came as a big shock when my parents found out..." She started; she wasn't sure what to say about them. "My mom and dad own a cafe so I work there some times..." She continued, still looking forward and keeping her head on his shoulder. She pulled her knee's closer and glanced to look at his face again wondering what he was thinking.

"She really is sorry," Will assured Jess. "She's been a little on edge since Halloween. A lot of people have," Will said once again, as if that was to excuse her every little fault. He tended to overlook her faults, though her sometimes possessive nature did annoy him on occasion. He couldn't really blame her for that, if he saw her with other guys all the time he would start to get a bit concerned about it himself. Will suddenly felt guilty sitting there in the corridors with Jess, though he could easily conjure up an excuse to pardon his behavior. "Winnie's taken it pretty hard too. She hasn't been the same since," Will added after a moment, distracting himself from the questionable situation. Winnie looked fine on the outside, but her twin brother was easily able to detect a change in her normal behavior that worried him.

Jess finally cracked a smile. Will grinned slightly in response, relieved to see one light up her face ever so slightly. It was a nice change and one he never thought he'd have to hope for. Jess had always seemed to be in a particularly good mood whenever they'd talked before. He glanced away when she looked at him, averting his eyes to the cold stone floor surrounding them. Will was slightly stunned to feel the pressure of her head on his shoulder. His initial instinct should have perhaps been to move away in that moment, but he didn't, despite the guilt that was forcing its way into his mind with every passing second. Besides, Jess needed him and he had to be there for her, right?

Will fixed his eyes on Jess when she spoke again. "Were they...," Will began, suddenly losing track of where he was going with the question when she looked into his eyes. He held her gaze, scanning her eyes for some sort of hint to what she was thinking in that moment. Realizing he left the question unfinished he cleared his throat slightly and added, "scared?" His mind was less on the question on more on the fact that he and Jess were so close and neither was doing anything to stop it when they clearly should have been. And yet, he had no desire to increase the distance between them. Instead, Will slowly moved a hand to her hair. He was acutely aware of everything that was happening, and yet his mind was still clouded with confusion. Before he had time to give it a second thought he tilted her head upwards slightly and leaned forward.

Jess nodded a little, she couldn't deny she felt slightly bad about the harsh words she spat about Athena. She was Will's girlfriend, Jess should be happy for him right? She did wish Will had gone with someone she could easily get along with, but none the less she should have been happy for him. Then, why did she have to stop glaring at the girl whenever she saw her? Then he mentioned his sister, Winnie. Jess didn't take a liking to her either, but that was mostly because she didn't seem to want to know anything about Jess. Biting on her lip, she tried to keep the smile up once she saw Will grin. She was glad that she was able to make him happy, that was something she hadn't really done today. Because he made no attempt to move away when she rested her head on his shoulder, Jess smiled just a little more.

She always felt happy around Will, when it was just them. She couldn't help but feel a little pang of guilt as she cuddled closer to Will, what about Justin? He was probably with Delaney at that moment, Jess didn't want to make herself upset again but she knew that her and Justin's relationship was coming to an end. If Will was going to be there for her, then it wouldn't be such a hard blow. Listening to the question about her family, Jess shook her head and smiled a little. "Nah, my brother was jealous and my mom fainted but then they were all on board." She began to explain. "My brother and me prank tons of people, when I leave I will be able to help my brother with magic" She stopped for a moment, feeling a hand on her hair a sudden blush spread on her cheeks.

Feeling his hand moved her head upwards made the blush on her cheeks harden. She watched as he began to lean forward, his face getting closer and closer to hers. A lump in her throat made her gulp, she began to move in a little closer. Finally ending up extremely close to Williams lips, Jess gulped once more deciding not to move any more. She watched his face, confused and wondering what was happening between the two of them.

Will let out a laugh when she shared that Jess and her brother liked to prank people, which he probably should have been able to guess before. All he knew was that if you didn't want to get pranked, you didn't dare upset Jessica Skidmore. He wondered who would face the wrath of her anger then. The mere thought brought him a smile, being reminded of the Jess he knew and loved. As a friend, of course. The only thing was now he wasn't so sure. Their closeness felt so natural and yet completely wrong. This wasn't fair to Athena at all. Will realized he deserved whatever harsh comments she threw his way at this point. Or maybe it was just time to quit holding on to something that wasn't working and hadn't worked from the start. Their first day of being together she'd accused him of flirting with Cassandra which should have been a warning as to how their whole relationship would play out. William really was reluctant to ruin their friendship by breaking up with her though. These thoughts consumed his mind, but looking into Jess's eyes seemed to put them at ease.

As his face neared hers, Will began to have second thoughts about everything; his relationship with Athena and with Jess. One seemed to be dying away while this was clearly just the beginning of something. Will paused with his lips so close to meeting hers. It shouldn't have been like that, both of them cheating to share a kiss. The thought seemed to cross both of their minds at the same time as Will dropped his hand and they both backed off simultaneously. His face felt hot and his mind a mess. William cleared his throat, a nervous habit of his. The situation seemed to merit it nonetheless.

William attempted to put on a grin to mask his confusion about what had just almost happened. The truth was painstakingly obvious, and yet incredibly hard to admit. He had feelings for Jess that seemed to overpower his feelings for Athena. "So," Will began, glancing towards the ceiling and then towards a window, "it's snowing. I've never been too fond of the snow myself... but I guess it's good for like building snowmen... and stuff," Will rambled nervously. "Winnie and I used to build snow forts at home and she always knocked mine down and I used to get so mad at her because it took like forever to compress that much snow to get it to stay and one time I knocked down hers and she started doing the guilt trip thing and cried and...," Will paused, meeting Jess's eyes again for a moment.

Jess smiled wide when she heard his laugh, she loved hearing it. Laughing was a way to show complete happiness at times, she wondered if he was happy just talking with her. He never seemed sad unless something bad had happened; then again she had never seen him upset. As Jess watched him lean closer, she followed suite and continued to lean in expecting any minute for them to kiss. But something stopped her, and that something seemed to stop him as well. She never wanted to cheat on someone, it had happened to her before and she vowed never to cheat on anyone. It was wrong for her to kiss someone else while she was in a relationship no matter what state that relationship was in, he must have thought the same. She couldn't kiss him, even if she desperately wanted to.

Leaning back, she noticed that Will did the same thing. She smiled a little, Jess was glad that they were on the same brainwave and that they thought the same. She began to wonder what Athena was so mad about; Jess could easily tell that Will would never cheat on his girlfriend or kiss someone else while he was in a relationship. She watched his face become increasingly red, she smiled just a little watching as he attempted to put on a grin. She knew one thing was for sure out of all of this, she liked William more than a friend. Much more than a friend. Just the thought of him made her blush and smile; she suspected he could feel the same. But she wasn't going to be the one to say she liked him without knowing a response, she wasn't like that.

Then, he began to babble. Talking at high speed she had to resist the urge to burst out into laughter, what was he even on about? Raising an eyebrow and smirking as he stopped mid sentence, she decided that it was time they got up. They must have been there for a while, because now she could hear students in the distance talking about the ball. Breakfast must have been over. Standing up and grabbing his hands, she attempted to pull him up. "Will, you're babbling." She stated letting go of his hands and putting her own on her hips. "We should go and get ready well... You should go and get ready" She had to correct herself, she decided she wasn't going to go. Maybe she would if she saw Justin and he asked her, but she didn't expect that to happen.

"Thanks for this Will... You're an amazing friend" Giving him a quick but tight hug, she pulled back and began to walk along the corridor. "But, let's not mention this to Athena, we don't want you being thrown in the lake tonight" She giggled at the thought, but continued to walk smiling wide. He had really cheered her up.

"Right," Will said with a nod, stopping his random monologue abruptly. He got up with Jess's help, feeling slightly better about the situation knowing he hadn't done anything to aid in the destruction of her relationship or his own, though something was obviously broken in both of the relationships considering what had almost taken place. William was sure now that he had to break Athena's heart, or maybe he was just giving too much credit to their relationship. In any case, he was positive he had to end things between them before it got any more out of hand. Part of him wanted to let Jess know this, but he didn't want to put any more pressure or strain on her relationship with Justin. It would be hard to watch them that night. "So should you," Will said, not realizing that she was implying that she wasn't planning on attending at all. "You'll be a beautiful date for Justin," Will stated mindlessly with a hint of jealousy in the compliment.

Will felt like he hadn't been much of a help. If anything, he felt as if he'd just confused the both of them or rather exposed feelings that should have waited to be shown in due time. William returned the brief hug, welcoming any excuse to be near her again. "I try," Will said with a grin as she pulled away and began to make her way through the corridor. "I don't think I can prevent her wrath now, but I won't bring it up," Will called after her, dreading going to meet Athena now. How would he explain his sudden departure and chasing after Jess to her? He decided to face that dilemma when the time came. Letting out a long sigh, Will exited the corridors.

Smiling wide as she helped Will up, Jess couldn't help but feel something for the Gryffindor. She knew it was a feeling that was greater than friendship, but it may have just been an attraction. She thought that they would have to build it up over a while at first to make sure that those feelings were there and it wasn't going to be one of those short relationships, such as her and Justin's. It had been on impulse for both of them, meaning that now, less than three months later it was falling apart. She couldn't be mad at this, just upset that it didn't work. Raising an eyebrow at Will, she shook her head trying to stop a blush. Didn't he realise that she was implying something else? "I'm not going William, I hope this doesn't ruin your plans" She softly said running a hand through her hair.

The hug was soft and nice; it made her smile more that it made Will grin. She had always hugged William, but this time it was full of something different. This made is more meaningful; it made her feel much better. Pulling away and grinning, Jess listened to Will laughing a little and shaking her head. Walking along side him, she smiled happily. "Hopefully she won't murder you" Jess said jokingly as she followed Will exiting the corridor wondering where to go next.
