Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Ray had exited the Great Hall in a bit of a fit. Anger, frustration. He wasn't quite sure what had come over him. He might have stopped in the corridor, but there had been people. He pushed his way through the doors leading out to the grounds. Well, he was vaguely sure. Winnie had... made him jealous. Hadn't she. Ray collapsed onto the steps. Deep in thought. Trying to understand the implication of his feelings. I mean, Will was his best friend. Plus, Winnie was obviously interested in someone else. Not to mention he had just made a scene in front of the only other girl who had really shown any interest in him, recently that is. He kicked the ground absently before quickly wrapping himself into his coat. It was cold, out wasn't it. Ray let out a deep breath, trying to clear his mind. Being alone would probably help him do this, being outside would also help.

Slowly he felt himself calm down. Ray quietly repositioned himself into a less awkward position and fixed his guitar, which had been flung haphazardly across his back. Had he really been jealous? He couldn't really be sure. Maybe his ego had just been hurt, it was always a possibility. Either way, he had been a bit of an ass. To everyone. It wasn't very often he had an outburst like that. Everyone knew it. Ray was always mellow. He was shocked that something so simple could mess him up so much. He tried not to think about Winnie. It was almost painful to do so. What had happened to her? She was acting like an infatuated thirteen year old. It was totally out of place. It brought him back to thinking that she might have been trying to rile him up. But that thought seemed ridiculous. Why would she? Girls were so complex. Ray balled up some snow in his hand and flung it forwards before sighing again. Complex, confusing. But it made them more interesting to be around, eh?

What guy didn't like the thrill of the chase? Girls were the best in the world at confusing boys and making them not sure of what was supposed to be happening. Though this situation could be nothing like that. Winnie and Ray were friends. In fact most of the time they were totally awkward around each other. What was he thinking? Could he really have been jealous...? Ray buried his head quietly into his head, massaging his temples. He wasn't ready to think about something like that, if anything for Will's sake. Ray had no idea how Will would react to something like that. No doubt he'd get a punch in the stomach for even thinking about it.

If guilt hadn't consumed her wholly by then it was getting there. It seemed like lately all she had been doing was screwing everything up by making stupid and rash decisions. She'd destroyed her friendship with Marion and now she had totally confused herself and ruined her and Ray's awkward friendship. They would never discuss cute animal books again or other random topics when they couldn't think of anything else to say she was sure. The thought was saddening. Nevertheless, Winnie found herself actually trying to save it by chasing after Ray. She wasn't sure what she'd say when she saw him, she figured she'd cross that bridge when she came to it. And there it was as she crossed through the doors and onto the grounds.

The sight of Ray made her mind go blank and she paused by the door. She hadn't thought through what to do when she actually did find him, she just knew she needed to. And she knew she needed to say she was sorry and possibly explain herself, which would be hard to do. What was she supposed to say about her actions? The truth? What was the truth? Winnie had obscured it so much in her mind she wasn't even sure anymore.

Winnie took a step forward, taking in a deep breath to calm her nerves. It just then crossed her mid then that her sweater couldn't possibly protect from the cold chill that came along with winter. She shivered involuntarily as it already began to seep through the few layers she wore. It didn't seem to matter then though. She had to do one thing right, and that was apologizing to Ray before any of this got more out of hand than it needed to be.

She quietly took a seat next to him, her expression soft and resigned. "Ray," Winnie started, "I didn't mean to," she paused because she couldn't finish that sentence without lying. "I'm sorry for being so... acting the way I did. It was stupid really," Winnie said with sincerity, though she still felt like she was holding the truth back. She just wanted desperately for him to forgive her and to forget it all had ever happened. "I don't know what came over me." That was, in fact, the truth.

Ray tensed as he heard someone approach. The realization that it was Winnie didn't help the situation. It didn't take him long to relax, however. It never did. He wasn't even sure why he had been so agitated before. Well, he knew. Sitting so close to Winnie was an incredible reminder of why he had been so agitated but he managed to smile at her. Glad she cared enough to check on him and apologize. "You don't have to explain yourself." He murmured, quietly, glancing over to study her. "It wasn't really my place to get all ticked, like that. So I'm sorry too. None of you really deserved to see an outburst like that." Ray continued carefully, not certain if he should bring up Francis. But then he scoffed inwardly at himself before opening his mouth; "I mean, you can like whoever you want to like, it doesn't- shouldn't really matter to me." He had corrected himself mid sentence, realizing he was lying when he said he 'didn't. At this point he was more or less babbling, finding the situation to be slightly awkward. He shut himself up, and stared blankly across the grounds. Ray could resign himself to Winnie liking Francis. After all, it really shouldn't bother him. "You know, I wouldn't have actually told him anything you said." He finally murmured, after a few moments of silence. Which was true. It didn't seem right.

Ray glanced over at her and spazzed for a moment. "Aren't you cold? What're you thinkin' comin' out here with nothing but a sweater on, it's winter." He reminded her, trying to make light of the situation, without a second thought he was pulling off his guitar and then his jacket. He wrapped the latter around her. He paused as he did so, wondering perhaps if he should have asked first but then quickly pulled away, throwing the guitar around his back, he tucked his arms around his chest and glanced awkwardly at his feet. He then grinned over at Winnie. "Guess we're both kinda idiots, huh?" Then on a more serious note, he continued; "I am sorry, I'm not sure-" He paused and stumbled over the lie. He hoped she would just think it was a shiver. "What I was thinking. I uh, hope things don't get super awkward between us now." He grinned a little at the irony. Ray couldn't get himself to watch her for a reaction.

His eyes would flit around uneasily and land on her every so often only to move to something else. Like the snow. Anything else. He was still feeling strange about the whole situation, but he wouldn't make anyone suffer because of it. Sitting this close to Winnie was having an odd effect on him also. It wasn't often they were in such close quarters. I mean, she was only sitting beside him. But it was dizzying, and he was confused. Ray managed to smile a little awkwardly once again, looking out at the snow. It wasn't that cold out, he supposed. But he had extra layers on, due to his morning stroll.

It didn't escape Winnie's notice that Ray fixed his sentence before finishing it, seemingly sifting through his words very carefully. She was doing the same. It was sort of always that way between though, besides just a few moments ago in the Great Hall. Winnie came close to saying something about that mere change in words, but stopped the words before she said them aloud. The situation was awkward enough and that would only add to it. Though, she supposed at this point anything would only add to it. She put on a small smile when she heard his next words. "I know. I knew you wouldn't," Winnie said. She knew Ray and that was something he would only threaten at and never do. She'd never heard him threaten a soul in her life, if not in jest, but there was always a first for everything. While Winnie had known he wouldn't have really done it, the thought was slightly worrisome. She wondered momentarily if Francis were to know if he'd see through her facade more easily than Ray could. Francis had always seemed to understand better than most guys, save for her brother on occasion, could.

Winnie grinned slightly at his concern over her lack of a coat. "I clearly wasn't," Winnie responded, shivering again as her previously distracted thoughts took note of the cold once again. She'd only had one thought on her mind and all of the rest seemed irrelevant a few moments before. She was about to add something else when he pulled off his jacket and wrapped it around her without so much as a second thought. The sweet gesture brought a bit of color to her cheeks, which could easily be excused as occurring because of the frigid air. "Thanks," Winnie said softly ignoring the way he'd made her heart flutter. "I suppose so," Winnie agreed with a chuckle. It seemed to alleviate some of awkwardness between them before it was brought on again by the thoughts of earlier events.

She figured the whole thing was her fault to begin with, so Ray's apologies seemed unnecessary. Winnie pondered how to respond for a moment. Things had always been awkward between them ever since day one. "I think we can manage staying at the same level of awkwardness as before," Winnie said, acknowledging that fact. She was surprised Ray had voiced that concern out loud. "You really have nothing to be sorry for. I was just being foolish. I just," Winnie paused, realizing what was about to come out of her mouth, "I was trying to see how you would react if I talked about Francis because," Winnie stopped at that because further explanation would only lead her to confessing feelings she hadn't been aware she'd had. "Because...," Winnie repeated, looking into his eyes and then averting her gaze once more. She wasn't sure how to continue and she didn't want to have to do so.

He was glad Winnie knew him enough to understand that he wasn't really being himself. Though he couldn't help wonder if she also knew why he wasn't being himself. The thought caused little knots to twist in his stomach. Surely things would never be the same if she understood what his outburst implied. He sincerely regretted it. It was also scary thinking if that was the kind of person he might turn out like. He smiled in response, relieved. More so then he had been before. Her phrase had such a tone to it, that if he had been thinking she had come out to make sure he wasn't actually going to tell Francis they would be immediately diminished. Ray dropped his eyes cautiously to the ground, not sure he had the will to look at her. The will to look at her as only a friend would, anyways. He picked absently at the stair he was sitting on, clearing away the snow and running his hand across the stone absently.

The grin was back in place. It was kind of nice to know she was so concerned she didn't even think she might need a coat. He found himself watching her, despite his decision that it would be better if he didn't. Ray's mouth had been open to thank her for coming after him, but she thanked him instead first for the coat. He closed his mouth quietly, laughing a little nervously. Her voice had sent a shiver up his spine, and he hadn't been quite sure if he could articulate what he had wanted to say. Something about the situation had changed and it most definitely wasn't a change for the worse. When he regained his voice he responded; "It's the least I could do, thanks for... coming after me." Though as he spoke his gaze lowered to the grounds again. Afraid she might see he had been watching her so intently. Ray felt ridiculous, like a school boy who couldn't quite say what was on his mind. He wanted to know if Winnie felt the sudden change between them too, or if he was just crazy...

"Phew. Good to know we can continue to be awkward together." Ray responded, grinning widely. Still not able to shake the feeling in the pit of his gut. The butterflies down there were having some sort of pow wow. His grin quietly faded, she was explaining herself. Even though he had said it was unnecessary. Ray watched her solemnly, listened carefully... his stomach twisting into a bunch of new knots. Was she...? She had been getting a reaction out of him. Though he didn't even think about the fact that he had grasped the situation correctly, the only thing on his mind was how beautiful she looked as she stumbled over her words; the way she averted her gaze when she couldn't quite say what was on her mind made his heart race. What happened next he did without thinking. His hand caressing her chin and lifting her face slightly before he leaned in. Before she got to finish her train of thought, or if she was even planning to, he kissed her.

Winnie could feel her hands shaking as she fiddled with them absentmindedly on her lap, not so much from the cold, but from the nervousness she felt bubbling up inside of her. She hadn't expected him to forgive her so easily, though she supposed knowing Ray she should have known it wouldn't be so difficult to get him to accept a sincere apology. Though she did view the fault to be hers, something had come over the both of them in response to her little act. Ray might have overreacted a slight bit, so perhaps he at least owed it to her to accept an apology when offered. Either way, he had done so and she was grateful for it. Winnie could feel his eyes on her as she stared at the sparkling snow, thinking entirely too long about everything she was doing and saying. It seemed as soon he glanced away Winnie looked upwards at his face. Silence passed between them after that for a short while, both lost in their thoughts about each other. It seemed risky to so much as glance his way anymore, like that action could hold some deeper meaning that he could read into.

"It's such a relief," Winnie added. It really was, though her words sounded more sarcastic than anything. She had been worried that they would perhaps never share another one of their awkward moments. To prove this thinking incorrect, they'd shared a multitude in the few minutes they'd been together since. Only more could expected now. She was suddenly acutely aware of their closeness and that only increased her heart rate and the red on her cheeks. She didn't want to move, but it felt odd to be so near him. Odd in a good way, she couldn't help but think. Ray had always been an awkward friend, but now she wondered if maybe their awkward friendship had taken another turn.

It was impossible to put everything she was feeling into words. Winnie's mind was a jumble of a billion different thoughts that couldn't seem to fit together right, like a box of mismatched puzzle pieces. All of those tiny thoughts melted away when she felt a light grip on her chin, forcing her gaze upwards from it's previously downcast position. In the next moment she felt Ray press his lips against hers. Her heart went from beating entirely too fast to being nonexistent. Despite the cold, Winnie felt a warm sensation rush through her body and it seemed to melt all the logic and reasoning straight from her mind. Like everything with Winnie and Ray, it felt slightly awkward and unnatural at first, but that was overpowered by the feeling she got in the pit of her stomach. After a moment that seemed to last forever, but was yet entirely too short, it was over and Winnie slowly moved her head back to a distance she deemed as safe. If she wasn't utterly confused before, she was now.

There was a moment where his lips were pressed against Winnie's, the moment after he had pressed them to her when he realized that she hadn't pulled away yet. It was a moment where he felt like he might as well be on top of the world. For a few moments everything seemed... right. She wanted to kiss him too, what more could he ask for? He wasn't confused anymore, he didn't feel awkward anymore. Though he felt his heart might explode out of his chest if it were to keep up such extraneous palpitations. It seemed his heart was making up for years of inactivity. It didn't last nearly long enough, as soon as they were pulling away he felt the intense urge to lean forward again. But he suppressed it; it didn't help that when the kiss ended he was a bit stunned, and it took him a moment to realize he had forgotten to breathe and his breath came out in a rush. He lowered his gaze to stop himself from moving forward, so they could both catch their breath. Though despite his lack of breath, and the pressing cold he was smiling; a small smile that came out along with a short exhale of air. The time it took him to catch his breath gave him time to start to realize all the implications of what he had done, the lightweight feeling quickly left and he looked uncertainly into Winnie's eyes. Ray's eyes searched hers, trying to figure out what he should do next. Looking for any subtle clue that might tell him how to react now. Ray wasn't sure what her reaction to his kiss was, all he knew was that she hadn't protested; had even kissed him back. He also knew that he didn't want reality to set in just yet.

He found himself lunging forward.

This time, when his lips met hers more thought was put into the kiss. It wasn't as instinctual; in the sense that he had thought about her first response but that was the only extent of his thought process. After that it seemed like nothing would be able to stop him from kissing her again, even though only mere seconds had passed since their first kiss. The feeling had been so intoxicating, he wanted more. His enthusiasm might have been a bit much for a second kiss, but it didn't seem to matter. When their lips met he felt himself continue to move forward, probably from his lunge, and he just barely brought his arm around in time to stop Winnie from colliding with the stone of the stairs. Even such a near disaster wasn't enough to make him pause and he kissed her again. Not wanting to give Winnie the time to register what had happened. Infusing as much passion as he possibly could into each kiss. He felt incredibly lightweight, like he might be able to fly, only he wouldn't. Not if it meant leaving. His breathing was heavy, but he ignored it and his heart was beating so fast it hardly felt like it was there anymore. He didn't care. This was all that mattered. Right now, that moment.

Come what may.

The scene felt so surreal, and Winnie felt slightly dazed like she'd just awoken from some kind of dream. This was Ray, she rationalized, the awkward boy she'd shared occasional conversations with marked by stammering and awkward pauses. One of her brother's best friends, one of Francis' best friends. She blinked rapidly, shaking those thoughts. Winne had to ruin everything by simply over thinking it and she wasn't about to ruin this moment, though maybe she should have given it a second thought. Winnie held his gaze for a moment, both of them attempting to read the other's mind. Her eyes once wide with shock had softened and now she was merely taking in the sight of him, trusting that there was nothing more to be deciphered. She'd always found him attractive, but never more so than in that beautiful moment. Winnie wanted to keep this moment simple and ignore the voice in her head that warned her to back off. A grin crossed her face as she relived that extraordinary moment in her mind and she longed to feel her heart swell so much again. She hadn't known it was possible to feel that way, and if she had know she surely would have have admitted her feelings for Ray sooner.

The next thing Winnie knew, Ray was leaning towards her once more. She didn't have time to think or justify further in her mind, which she found she was grateful for. If she had thought about it any longer she would have convinced herself to stop, though that was the last thing she wanted to do. Their first kiss had been so soft and light and had conveyed something more timid and suppressed between them, as Winnie thought a first kiss should be. This kiss, however was harsher and more intense than she had expected it to be. It surprised her and she was once again struck by the dizziness that threatened to consume her brain. Winnie hadn't realized she had been forced backwards by the weight of his body, but she found herself lying on the cool stones. It was hard to keep up, but she felt her previously tense body begin to relax. Winnie voluntarily returned each kiss. Her cold hand moved to his cheek which felt warm in contrast. Her senses all felt dulled by the feeling rushing through her body. Winifred was hardly aware that her other hand had moved to his dark hair. Not always being the best at expressing her emotions, she was sure that each kiss was doing an adequate job of displaying the depth of her affections for the boy.

Like all good things, that entirely perfect moment had to come to an end. Winnie pulled back to catch a breath, hoping logic wouldn't immediately flood her brain with every flaw her action entailed. It threatened, but she cast the thoughts aside. A wide grin formed on her flushed face as she stared into Ray's eyes. She wished things could be that simple. She wished the look in his eye was enough to melt everything else away. Nothing was ever so simple. Winnie pushed herself back up on her elbows, straightening her mess of blonde hair once she'd sat up straight. The warmth in her before started to slowly dwindle away and she felt a shiver run through her body, pulling Ray's coat closer around her slender body.

Glancing towards him with a smile, Winifred wasn't sure what words could follow up that. She knew what it all meant, she just wasn't sure how to proceed from that point. They could keep kissing and pretending the world was all rainbows and sunshine and Winnie would have been more than happy to do so, but that small voice inside her told her it was time to stop and actually mull things over. Besides, it felt like the weather was decreasing by the second and since Ray had given her his coat, she assumed he was getting rather cold. Winnie stood up and offered a hand to help Ray up. "We should go inside," she suggested weakly, her heart still trying to calm down. With that,Winnie and Ray reentered the castle.
