Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Francis was lying by the river; the grass was wet from the earlier powerful surge of water crashing down. One of his arms was on his chest, keeping his sketchpad in his robe safely. His eyes were shut, small eyelashes poking out not even fluttering to show signs of life. His hand was severely burnt, almost black; underneath that burnt layer was a purple patch. A bruise. On his cheek there was a cut, a little trail of blood running down had dried during the time he had been there. Unknown to anyone, he had bruises all up his arm from the way he had landed.

In his mind, thoughts were swirling around in the darkness. Mostly of his family, his friends, everyone he could think of. If he were awake, he would be running around trying to help Alistair and others getting to the nurses. But he wasn't all he saw was black. He wasn't waking up yet, even when Athena yelled for help. It didn't break through, nothing would. He needed some help, proper help. Help that wouldn't run off for someone else and would try to wake him up. He lay in the wet grass waiting, just waiting, for someone to help him.

Sebastian was horrified at the destructive carnage he saw. Dead bodies... everywhere. Some yearning for help and others on their final breath of life. Tears edged on the corner of his eyes. If he saw Sylvia... or Charlotte anywhere among the dead. He would weep, he wouldn't forgive himself. He searched, never the less, through the piles of bodies, biting his lip as he scrunched his face to avoid a tear ever coming down his cheeks. Whoever did this was a monster. Far more destructive than the fiendfyre.

As he was looking around he spotted Athena, calling out for someone named Jack and tending to a fallen Hufflepuff. Shocked, Sebby raced over to closer to Athena but relieved that the Hufflepuff wasn't Charlotte. He looked around anxiously, afraid that he would find his siblings' bodies on the floor, mangled and burnt to crisp.

"FRANCIS!" Sebastian cried as he moved closer to the lake, spotting a familiar body standing useless on the bank. He kneeled to his side, pay no attention to the vicious pains shooting up his thighs from his knees that were burnt from the fires. "Francis! Hey mate, can you hear me?!" Sebastian drastically fumbled all over the place, thudding his hand lightly on Francis' cheeks with shaking hands. Come on... he wasn't going to let a fellow Ravenclaw wither away and give his life away.

Unsteadily he retrieved his wand from his robes and pointed straight at Francis, his wand jolting in slow movements left to right. "En-en-enervate!" Sebastian bellowed, pointing the wand above his forehead. Nothing happened. Nothing freaking happened. "En-en-en-en-enervate!" Sebastian tried again, stuttering even more than he did before. Still his spell was useless. He couldn't do anything. Sebastian clutched his wand steadier," En-enervate!"

"If you died I would too, Jack!"

The young boy attempted to look at ease, but his heart was in his mouth and smile pushed the straight line on his face to curve to relieve the sentimental ache in his throat. He wanted to say it. Or say something. But nothing came out, just a smile to reassure himself that he was just lucky to be best friends with them most amazing girl on the earth. Jack wanted nothing more than to say those three magic words, but he knew he could destroy her heart in a matter of weeks. It was the worse feeling he had ever felt. Standing in front of the person who meant the world to him, knowing that he would tear down her world if he ever spoke out the truth. That was, if she felt the same.

Lighten up Jack... lighten up, Jack told himself ,she's far better off without you. And this thought comforted him, through the excruciating pain in his heart. He was a coward. Something he had never thought he could ever be. He turned away from her soft brown eyes, gazing at the dead that plagued the grounds. They piled up over each other, as if there weren't any flat surfaces left. Who was sick enough to kill? The thought of someone prowling around with an intent for spilt blood and chaos made him shudder. The anarchy was suppose to happen outside, on the other side of the walls of Hogwarts.

Arms wrapped around his neck and he found Danny holding him tight. He snuggled with her, resting his head on her's. It hurt to still think that she thought of Jack as a friend. As one of the Quidditch Stands crashed down, muting the screams that erupted from the surviving, Jack gazed with a terror stricken expression. It was then when Danny softly took one of her hands in his, Jack's heart started jumping again. Just when Jack thought he had forgotten about all his feelings. His stupid. Useless. Destructive. Annoying, feelings. Jack turned around and gently tilted her chin upwards so that he could look into her eyes before lowering his head and touching her lips with his in a tender kiss.

No, no, no, you freaking idiot. You cannot do this to her!

His head screamed after a few seconds. Quickly Jack pulled back, realizing his foolish actions," I'm sorry... I didn't mean to, I just-"

"Jack! Please, help us"

Jack turned to the girl who interrupted his ramblings. It was Athena. From the Junior Auror Academy meeting. He mentally sighed, she somewhat saved him from making a complete fool of himself in front of Danny. Glancing back at Danny, he wanted to get out before she rejected him. Everything was all too confusing, running his fingers though his blonde locks. "Danny?" Jack asked nervously, the sound of her name soothed him a bit. He gestured towards Athena and Beth, they had to help. "What's going on?" Jack asked firmly with a concern frown, his voice wavered with anxiety.

Danny's eyes widened as Jack's lips pressed to her own. No. This was not supposed to be happening. She was supposed to have forgotten all about the feelings she had for Jack. It was for his own good. Still, her heart beat faster and the whole world, the whole cruel, sick, vile world seemed brighter. As fast and sudden as the kiss had come it was over and Danny stood staring, open mouthed, at Jack.

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to, I just-"

Danny shook her head slowly as he spoke. Of course he hadn't meant anything by it. It had been a heat of the moment kind of thing. She felt her chest tighten up and willed herself not to cry. There were bodies all around her and she was about to burst into hysterics because of Jack? Swallowing the lump that had risen in her throat she chanced a small smile at him. Athena Bellchambers, a Ravenclaw in Danny's year then screamed for help, helping Danny to avoid looking at Jack. "I love you." She mumbled quietly, seizing the moment to admit something she had never had the guts to before. Of course, over the screams and crying Jack probably couldn't hear her which was, in all honesty, probably a good thing. Danny ran over to where another Ravenclaw was laying on the ground, unmoving. He didn't looked charred to a crisp, so Danny was hoping he was still alive. A boy* next to her was shaking and Danny placed a firm hand on his shoulder, pain shooting up her arm. Still, the boy needed to calm down before he cast something that would put the unconscious Ravenclaw in an even worse position. "You have to calm down. It'll do him no good if you keep shaking like that." She pulled her own wand out, the pain in her hand causing her to drop it with a hiss. So she was basically useless. Sure in the heat of the moment she would be able to use her wand normally, but the throbbing and burning sensations were too much for her to grasp something efficiently. "You're a Ravenclaw, you know the spell to revive him. Just chill for a second."

Easier said then done considering they were in the middle of a battlefield.

OOC: The boy is Sebastian, but he and Danny have never interacted so she doesn't know his name. xDD

Sebastian jumped as he felt soft hands on his shoulder. Sebby sighed. Soft hands. Not cold, un-dead hands of an Inferi. A thought that had been lingering about him ever since that lesson during Defense Against the Dark Arts, taught by the cold and mysterious Abraxas Kemp. And now he was surrounded by burnt bodies, the moans and whimpers from their mouths hummed in his ear sending chills down his spine. He looked up at the person who frightened the merlin out of him, half-expecting the person to be Athena. But it was a Gryffindor girl, making him slightly frown. He was a lowly wimp compared to the cool, calm and bravery that of a Gryffindor.

"Calm down," Sebastian whispered to himself, repeating what the girl said earlier. He looked down at Francis, desperately attempting to calm himself down. He was a Ravenclaw, just like she said. Grinding his teeth together he clenched his weak feeling hands and grasped his wand tightly. "Okay," Sebastian nodded and pointed his wand above his chest, his shaking hands only now vibrating in little motions. "Enervate!" An electric blue energy slid from the base of his wand to the tip, escaping from the tip of his wand the blue energy struck down into Francis. Sebastian waited anxiously, to see if his spell worked.

Darkness that blocked him, kept him there, began to slowly fade. He felt a shooting pain in his hand, he couldn't bend his fingers, and he couldn't even lift his hand due to the fear of pain that circled his head. His eyes began to flutter open looking up to the dark sky, why was he here? He remembered walking along with Sommer and Alistair, then something happened and he fall down. Alistair helped him, so he helped Alistair. He remembered asking for help, but then it went blank. Now he was here, looking up at the sky wondering what had happened to him.

He felt the wet grass between his fingers on his unharmed hand; he felt his mangled hair drip with water. He wondered what was happening before moving his eyes away from the sky. He looked over only to see a wand, he followed it to the hand of his best friend, Sebastian Mercury. He watched him for a moment, he was shaking. A Gryffindor girl had appeared and was telling him to chill for a second, Francis suddenly realised something. Sebastian had brought him out the darkness; he had answered his crys for help. He slowly began to sit up, his elbows in the grass as he propped himself up looking at his best friend. He felt something grab him inside, making him suddenly feel warm as he realised a hand was on his cheek. Sitting up fully, he looked to his hand and winced seeing the burnt skin and feeling the bruise underneath. He turned to Sebastian, leaning up and hugging him the best he could.

"Sebastian... What happened" He whispered, he felt something in his robe. He looked down to see his sketch book, it was safe and sound hidden away from the water and fire. He couldn't be happier with that. "Thank you Sebastian..." He smiled wide, but his happiness came crashing down as he looked around the grounds seeing people lying everywhere, some injured, some dead. He gulped and realised something, Alistair. He crawled up and turned around seeing the Hufflepuff unconscious. He crawled over hoping the other two would come over too, his let out a painful small scream as he put weight on his hand. "We have to help Alistair..." He managed to say wincing and biting his lip. He was in real pain, but he had to help.

"Beth... Oh my gosh... Jack! Please, help us," Beth could hear at the back of her mind. Her eyes fluttered open to see a familiar face of her friend. "Athena?" she asked, taking a while to observe her surroundings. Except for some scratches on her face and bruises, she appeared relatively unharmed. The flexible branches of the bushes she fell in slowed her fall immensely, and her Quidditch gear stopped anything sharp from cutting her skin.

Finally remembering what had happened, Beth bolted into a sitting position with a belated grunt. "I saw him, I think I saw who did this," she let out raggedly, rubbing her forehead carefully. "How- how is everyone? Quickly, we need to help," Beth looked briefly at Athena, trying to blink away the moisture in her eyes. Realizing she still clutched her broom in one hand, she tried to use it to stand up, only now registering her ankle was hurting badly, most likely sprained. Gritting her teeth, Beth reached out for Athena pleadingly.

Just as Bannishtar thought that the cursed flames eating away at his underside would be the end of him, he was suddenly enveloped in a wave of cold. Bannishtar screamed under the water that covered him. The pain and lack of air was so great, he passed out.

He awoke to the sound of a student's voice.

"Professor, can you hear me?"

Banni opened his eyes. Pain suddenly flooded back to his body, and the centaur gritted his teeth.

He looked up and saw that the student crouched beside him was Addie Luminuex.

"Where is the fiendfyre?" asked Banni, his voice sounding a lot stronger than one might expect to hear from someone who had just had their ribcage burned.

Ian wanted to chase the fiendfyre back into the castle, but everywhere Ian ran the risk of running into his classmates, and everywhere his fellow Squires were on the prowl.

The Professors can take care of it, Ian reassured himself--or tried to.

Meanwhile, on his way to the castle, Ian was forced avoid other students as best he could, so that he would not have to do to anyone else what he'd done to Francis. Ian hoped to Merlin that the other students would just leave him alone.

((OOC: Now would be a good time for Addie to confront Ian. She should probably have seen what Ian did to Francis.))

Addie was relieved to hear the centaur respond to her question. "I think it went into the pitch, I'm not sure though." She commented uncertainly.

The girl moved her wand, pointing it at his wound. "I don't know if this will work, but hopefully it will.. Episkey!" She said firmly, hoping it would heal the injury at least somewhat.

Bannishtar tried to stand up, but the scorching pain in his underside halted him, and he floundered.

Lifting his front leg, he tried his best to inspect the damage. Much of his underside was scorched in three lines across the chest and belly of his horse half. The wound was blackened.

Blood began to seep from the wound. Because the fire sutures the blood vessels shut, a deep burn wound like that does not bleed immediately, but the size and depth of it ensured that, soon, Banni would bleed profusely as the blood bursts through the scorched tissue. With such a wound, once the bleeding starts, it is near impossible to stop, and the victim usually bleeds out.

"I don't know if this will work, but hopefully it will.. Episkey!"

The girl traced a path across Banni's wound with her wand. Instantly, new skin began to cover the wound, and blood the more in tact blood vessels began to close up. Banni was still bleeding internally, but at a slower rate, and he did not know yet the extent of the damage, but at least now he would not bleed to death so quickly.

A couple of seventh year students came by to lend a hand. The helped to lift Banni to his feet, and support him as he walked.

"We'll take the Professor, Lumineux," said one of the seventh years, "You should probably be trying to ensure the safety of the younger students, right? You're a prefect, after all."

"Yes," said Banni, "I agree. You should help the other prefects and professors gain control of the situation. Grissom, Osborne," Banni said to the students helping him, "The lake in my room connects to every fireplace in the castle. We'll use it to get to the Hospital Wing. Once I'm through, stay on the other end to direct anyone who is too injured to climb the staircase to use the same floo portal."

"Yes, sir," said Grissom.

"Yes, Professor," said Osborne.

With the help of the two students, Banni enters the castle.

It was a relief to see the spell working, and an even bigger relief to see two seventh years come by to help. Bannishtar would be able to make it to the hospital wing now.

"You're right. Thank you, and be careful!" Addie called after them, glancing around quickly. She watched as various groups of students picked themselves up off the ground. The fiendfyre had run off, it didn't look like there was any immediate danger in the area...

The girl turned her eyes on the squire who had begun to walk away. She'd seen him knock down one of the students, just watching the fiendfyre burn. If there was a threat around, it was the squire.

And she was confident she could handle it.

Addie set off, hurrying after the student in white. "Just where do you think you're going?" She called, wand pointed at him.

"Just where do you think you're going?"

Ian turned around.

Damn. Just who he especially didn't want to bump in to. Damn. Damn. Damn!

Ian's mask stared her down blankly and unfeelingly, but, behind the mask, Ian was torn.

Stupidly, Ian shrugged his shoulders. He'd have threatened her, but he knew she'd only accept that challenge.

She raised an eyebrow at him, watching him carefully for any sudden movements. "You don't know?"

"Well, I saw what you did back there. So if you're planning on causing more trouble, you can forget it."

What was he going to do? Whatever it was, Ian did not want to go toe-to-tow with Addie. If he fought her, he knew she would not easily succumb to a light beating, so to win he'd have to really fight her. If he lost, all the Squires would see and he'd probably be unmasked. It was a lose-lose situation.

He needed to get past Addie somehow and find Sylvia. Then again, she'd probably follow and walk into more danger.

Damn. Only once choice.

Ian raised his wand.

Still, Ian feared detection. The mask would muffle his voice somewhat, but Ian did not want Addie to find him out through his voice. They had been learning non-vocal spell casting in class, but few, if any, students had actually managed to cast a spell without speaking. Ian had to try.

He thought hard. Levicourpus. Levicourpus. Levicourpus. LEVICOURPUS!

((OOC: I'm thinking Addie could still get at him with her spells even if she's strung up in the air.))

Addie held her ground, staring him down as he remained silent. She tensed as he raised his wand, ready to counter any spell he sent her way. The one he ended up using surprised her, to say the least.

The girl gasped as she was swung into the air by her ankle.

Damnit! What's the counter again? Levicorpus and L... Lib...

No matter, she'd remember eventually. For now she had to keep him from getting away. Two could play the non-verbal spells game.

Tarantellegra! She thought, whispering the spell under her breath as well.

It started with a twitching of Ian's thighs, but, soon, Ian's legs were dancing uncontrollably; they were completely unresponsive to his own commands. Unable to keep his balance with his flailing legs, Ian toppled over.

Crap, thought Ian as he writhed on the ground, still unable to take control of his legs, Are we going to trade joke spells all day?

Even with Addie dangling by her ankle, Ian was unable to stand up on his flailing legs, or to hold still long enough to get good aim. He fired a skin-burning hex (which causes terrible, burning rash), but knew he was not likely to hit.

With the student toppled over on the ground, aim skewed, the girl finally had time to remember the right spell.

Liberacorpus! The girl fell to the ground in a heap, straightening herself out quickly and moving toward the squire.

Right then, let's see who you are.

"Accio mask."
Addie pointed her wand at the figure, mask flying into her hand. The girl froze, arm falling slack, mask dropping to the ground.

No... That wasn't possible... There was no way...

Ian de Pointe du Lac lay on the ground before her.

The girl remained silent a long moment, numbly raising her wand and pointing it at him once more. "F-finite incantatem." She mumbled softly, lowering her wand and gazing at him.

"...Why?" He was an elementium. He had been at the SAVIOR meeting in the summer, he knew everything. He was even part of the defense club... It didn't make any sense. Ian wasn't a bad guy, his brother was, and he hated his brother...

It just didn't make sense. Addie was stunned.

Emotionless, Jack watched Beth sit upright, her broom clutched around her hand. She seemed rather hazed and considering her positioning and her broom, she had just come out from the Forbidden Forest. Could it have been that she was scared shitless and ran into the woods out of fear, before flying out upon seeing something else that could of scared her. The idea didn't surprise Jack, whoever was wicked enough to cast a fiendyfre, killing most of the students on the grounds was probably capable of creating something else to ensure that chaos and anarchy still reigned.

"You saw who did this?" Jack spluttered eagerly. So she was either chasing whoever did this or the person responsible for all this turmoil scared her out of her hiding place. And if it were the first out of the two, he just had to admire her courage. "Who? Do you know?" Jack perked, gripping his wand inside his pockets. His anger rising up it's way to boiling point.

"As far as I know, all the people we've got to have made it safely in the castle...." Jack trailed off, looking back at the once green lawns of Hogwarts. Now burnt to a crisp and littered with the dead and almost-dead. There were probably quite a few people among the dead that Jack knew, it was hard to fathom what type of person could do such a thing. "There might be people still alive, we need to get them as fast as we can to the Hospital Wing," Jack murmured, his body faced the carnage. He probably should go too, his forearms were warm and red and he could feel the horrible stinging twinge in his inner calves.

The cool autumn wind seem to creep in again, as if nothing ever happened. His bangs refusing to sway with the wind as they were stuck firmly on his forehead, his face coated with ashes and sweat. Finally feeling the stuffy and hot sensation inside his uniform. "Freaking hell," Jack muttered frustratingly, casting his gear aside and onto the floor as well with his partially scorched upper uniform, leaving him in his black singlet to lavish in the cool air.

Athena saw the beast from the distance. It was trying to enter the castle walls; trying to destroy Hogwarts. Athena closed her eyes for a second to recollect herself. She was Athena Bellchambers. She was a Sixth Year in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She needed to help everyone in this school. She needed to focus on her purpose. And that was to help everyone survive this horrible tragedy. She got up and took Beth's hand. 'Who did this Beth, who?' She carefully asked her.

As Jack also asked Beth the question, Athena noticed that there was something on Jack's arm. Was it red...? No... His skin was burnt. Athena immediately came to his aid. She swept off his hair from his face and took out a handkerchief to wipe his face. 'Oh Jack...' Athena examined his injury. It was not a pleasant view at all. Worried, Athena took out her wand again and looked at Jack. 'I'll try to heal this but I'm not quite sure if it's that effective.' Biting her lip, Athena pointed her wand at Jack's arm. She started chanting spells and as she finished, she put her wand back to her pocket. 'I hope it gets better.'

Athena ran back to Beth as she knew the girl might still be a little bit disoriented from her fall. SHe put one of Beth's arm around her shoulder. 'Hang in there, buddy.' Athena thought that Jack and Beth should probably go back to the Hospital Wing.

'You're right, Jack. But you and Beth should go to the Hospital Wing. You guys could probably ride her broom?' But that's not a bit right... 'Can I actually use your broom, Beth? I'll take Jack first then I'll come back for you then I'll use your broom again to save some more people and take them to the Hospital Wing.' Athena could do that. She was quite fit for her age. She would do anything for Hogwarts.
