Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

"Silas! You can't be out here. Don't you see these people dying? Do you wanna die next?! Nooo! Go get yourself to safety. I'm ok, I'm helping people. I have a method." Laine assured the Gryffindor boy, pushing his hand from her wrist. Besides, she didn't want to leave the dead. What was causing this, anyways? Fire didn't just spring from nowhere...unless you were Ginny Weasley. Laine heard herself scream as the area suddenly filled with unexplainable light. One of her Professor's had fallen, and Laine was trying to drag herself over there without Silas noticing. The blinding glow obscured her vision nearly instantly. With a big tug, Laine attempted to pull Silas to the safety of the ground.

Seventh Year

Hell had already broken loose by the time Ian arrived. The grounds were an inferno. Lines of flames criss crossed along the grass, the smell of burning skin and hair filled the air, and everyone was in panic. The flames colored the area, bathing it in a furious orange glow. The heat was stifling.

Ian was already uncomfortable in his heavy white cloak. On his face was an ivory bird mask with a very long beak. The mask resembled the head of a vulture.

No one seemed to have noticed Ian in the chaos, and as Ian walked, hindered as he was by the limited scope of vision his mask afforded, he finally saw why: A great fiery beast prowled the grounds--and not just any fiery beast, but the very same flaming tiger that attacked Ian and Lola in their third year.

It was fiendfyre, and, as far as Ian knew, only he had the means with which to stop it.

He could do this without anyone noticing, but he had to hurry: Bannishtar had apparently already attempted to fight the fiendfyre, and was now writhing on the ground as the flames ate at his underside. Smoke rose from under him. Ian also spotted Addie trying to distract the beast. He wanted to call out to her, to get her to get out of there, but he could not. He had to keep up appearances or they'd both be in trouble. Besides, he could eliminate the problem without drawing attention to himself.

No part of his body need give away the fact that he was concentrating on the vast amount of water in the Black Lake, save his face, which was covered by the ivory bird mask.

There was a rushing sound. Behind him, a mass of water rose up from the lake. With a great sound almost like a roar, the water surged forward, heading straight for the fiendfyre.

The writhing centaur was engulfed, but the flaming beast seemed to sense the danger. It leaped past the rushing torrent and headed straight for the stadium. Ian tried to make the water give chase, but he simply did not have enough control to move the water with a speed to match the tiger's agility. Though Ian did his best to douse the flaming tiger, it slipped away and ran right through the great opening of the stadium.

Ian cursed aloud.

((OOC: I need some n00b to bother him and be willing to get knocked out or something. Obviously, you're not supposed to be able to tell who he is, but I need to establish that he's actually attacking people, even if he's trying to do so in the least harmful way possible. No, seriously, I do. Anyone? Approach him in hysterics? Something?))

Thanks Beth!

I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin'
I heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world
I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin'
I heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin'
I heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin'
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard
And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall.

Alistair quickly put an arm around the girls waist and started to move, carefully navigating his way through the turmoil; "It's fine, no worries mate." It wasn't OK, that was for sure. But there wasn't much he could do while she was in hysterics. Her hysterics were slowly making him lose grip with his inner calm. "It'll be alright." Move, they had to move. He kept repeating himself, trying to calm himself down and her as well. His attempts didn't really work. Alistair was tired, he felt scorched. His mouth was dry and he felt as though his legs might give way at any second. Francis! He turned as she yelled, skimming for the boy, couldn't see him. Everything was too hectic. He kept pushing towards the castle. "He'll be OK. Just dandy. I'm sure of it." Alistair had no way of knowing that, but he did know that he couldn't leave Sommer to fend for himself to go look for him. To his utter dismay the teacher fighting had fallen, he was slowly losing his grip on whatever sanity he was holding onto. He saw a huge flash of light, another student trying to fight the fiendfyre... but where had all that light come from anyways? It hurt his eyes. He staggered and for a terrifying second felt like he might fall over. A few moments later, as the blind spots diminished he saw something he would never forget.

Alistair's eyes widened in utter astonishment as a great wave of water came crashing towards the tiger, it had appeared to spring right out of the lake. As though the lake were protecting the students being attacked, but that thought process was unreasonable. He watched as the body of water rage across the ground and extinguished the flame that was slowly killing the professor... but it missed the main fiendfyre... but it wasn't a problem because the tiger was running. Away from here. He breathed a small sigh of relief. "Let's hurry, while we can, I'll go back and look for Francis when you're safe." He stated, moving faster, now that he wasn't concerned with catching on fire and dying. Who had done that? How had they done that? Could he learn how to do it? Grimly he pressed forward.

ooc/ it's crap, i'm sorry, it's late. XD (Francis just hasn't been posting >o)

Paton Raye
Deceased

Paton made a beeline across the grounds, running as if he had a horse blinder stuck to his own face. He was determined to make it safely from the exit of the Hufflepuff changeroom to the backside of the nearest building, as was according to Jack's plan, withoutout even laying eyes on whatever sort of Dark freak of nature was wreaking havoc here outside. Still clad in his Quidditch attire, Paton sprinted through the ashes that the fiendfyre had left behind and took cover behind the far wall of the first Herbology Greenhouse.

Paton peeked out from behind the building, catching a glimpse of some sort of rising supernatural form that was made not of fire, but of water. He hoped someone had finally discovered a way to destroy the massive inferno, though he didn't have time to watch. Paton turned his attention back to his fellow Hufflepuffs, who were following loyally behind. "This way!" he hissed. Paton gestured for them to join him behind the Greenhouse.

John turned and saw Juliet trip on a tree root. John skidded to a halt. Quickly looking between the flames and Juliet he noticed that they were burning up the grass towards her.

Without a seconds hessitation, John ran back to where Juliet was now crawling towards the castle entrance. John covered Juliet with his own body, the flames licked John's back. Pain shot up John's back, but he didn't want to stop in the position for too long. John helped Juliet to her feet.

John noticed that her ancle was limp, she must have rolled or sprained it when she tripped. John put himself between Juliet and the flames which grew closer and closer to their position. They were almost surrounded.

John threw one of Juliet's arms of John's shoulder as he carried her to safety.

John and Juliet left the grounds through the entrance to the castle.

Seventh Year ll Gryffindor Keeper ll The Manwhore

Jack entered the Grounds, not preparing himself for the massacre he saw. Already he saw a few charred bodies surrounded by a wall of flames. They looked so tranquil, at peace and somewhat relieved that they didn't have to go through such a chaotic scene. He finally forced himself to avert his eyes away from the bodies. And what he saw made his mouth gape with shock and awe.

The fiendfyre. In the shape of a fierce tiger, is raged a battle with what seemed to look like Bannishtar. But his eyes were firmly locked on the chaotic beast. It's golden pupils burned with fury and it's mouth baring, bloodthirsty for the living souls around them. The flames licked the air greedily as he could feel the air thicken with smoke and ember. The pea green grass harboured the violent cursed fire, setting flames to whomever dared to touch them.

This was it. It was for real. The piercing screams reached his ears and cries of help stabbed at his heart furiously. He heard a loud dominating sound, like the end of a waterfall crashing at smooth rocks. It was ironically the sound of pandemonium sweeping itself across the Hogwarts Grounds like a disease. It was torture, the painful thing was that he couldn't look away. Jack just stared.

He felt a light bump to his side and he turned around to see who it was. "What are you doing?!" The first year demanded, tears cascading down her eyes. Jack turned around, as if sweeping the area to see if he thought she was taking to the wrong person.

Jack merely stared down at her, freakishly calm thanks to his lingering shock. Jack shook his head and he felt his heart pace a lot more faster than he had ever intended it too. But never the less he tried to keep calm and rational as possible. Or at least appear to be. "Come on, come with me!" Jack said, grasping her around her wrist as he tugged her on. She didn't seem to have a problem with it, only too thankful that she had some guidance.

He looked at Paton, who peaked from behind the Greenhouses. Oh who cares about stealth right now! Bannishtar was challenging the fiendfyre. Buying them more time to evacuate the remaining students. He truly was the Head of Gryffindor. He glanced at the first year who gazed at him expectantly. "Get behind the Greenhouses! Follow the Puff!" Jack ordered the first year who scurried towards Paton's direction. He jogged up and down the grounds, instructing everyone to get to safety. Who cares about being rational?!

A familiar figure caught Jack's eye. His heart leaped and his stomach did flips inside of him. He had forgotten about Danny. He had freaking forgotten. Without gathering up his senses and snapping out of is absurdity, Jack sprinted from his position and straight for Danny. Leaping and swerving around the fires. "Danny, what are you doing?!" that was probably the most stupidest question he had asked all day," You have to get out of here... before you're hurt."

The smothering fog left by the flaming beast made everyone weak, especially Sommer. Her chest grew tight and her limping wasn't as good. Still she tried her best, the shaft long gone from her hand from the moment Alistair help her out. Now she could feel that he was slipping and as much as he kept telling her everything will suit well, it was getting hard to believe the meaning of his words. "You sound so unsure Alistair, its not okay..." tears kept steaming down her dirty face, soon enough though they reached the main entrance. The pain was numbing now, Sommer hardly felt it anymore, but the vision of those dying were hard to let go. She kept seeing them over and over in her mind, it was incredible how the beast took their life away without a struggle. It was hard to bare with right now, she was glad to be near the castle, but that didn't guarantee safety for long.

"Be careful out there Alistair! If you go back, don't try to fight that beast, please...someone else dying to much to bare" another student took hold of Sommer, reassuring Alistair they would take care of her. Sommer left the ground with assistance, praying they go to the hospital wing soon as possible.

Francis had been talking to Sommer when the fire demand jumped out sending flames everywhere, many students had began to run, scream, panic. But Francis did none of these; instead he ended up doing something which could put him in danger. He froze. His eyes fixed on the beat, as his brain willed his legs to work his eyes didn't leave the monsters. When he finally snapped out of his frozen state, he glanced around.

People were running around, Sommer had disappeared from his site and he realised he was alone again. When he looked back, he watched as the beast screamed at him. Falling back, Francis felt sudden warmth on his arm. He looked and to his horror, he watched flames swirl around his arm holding it in a tight grip. Dropping his sketchbook, he began to roll on the floor extinguishing the flame. Jumping up, he grabbed his sketch pad and pencil running away towards the building looking for somewhere to hide. He was in shock, he didn't know where to run and all the screaming went right through him. He felt something push him back and before he knew it, he was on the floor again trying not to be trampled on.

Her head was down; a sigh escaped her lips as Hanna entered the grounds. All she could think about was Silas, why was he so hard to forget? He liked that other girl; she just had to forget him. Suddenly, something pushed her shoulder back making her turn around. She looked up and glared at the first year that was running away from the scene. "Oi you ass! What do you think you're..." She stopped; he was running so fast she couldn't see where he was headed. But as she stepped back, she realised he wasn't the only one running. Tons of other students were, her ears seemed to tune in as she heard screaming from all directions. Slowly turning around, she looked at the grounds with wide eyes. Things were on fire, people were on fire.

And in the middle of it all, stood a monster like no other. "A Fiendfyre..." She softly spoke looking out to the floor seeing bodies lying everywhere, she couldn't utter another word. She didn't know what to do. She ran forward seeing some second years sat in the corner. Some were crying and others were trying spells to protect them all, she could see it wasn't working. Running over she grabbed them all pulling them up and looking over to where the castle was. "Go that way quick!" She yelled turning around and looking for somewhere to hide or someone who really needed help.

"HANNA" She heard a voice call her name, she turned around quickly biting her lip and looking around and seeing a brunette boy with a panic stricken face. Silas. She ran over quickly jumping close to him wrapping her arms around his neck and looking over his shoulder.
"Silas! We have to get out of here!" She yelled looking around for a place to run.

Sixth Year & Hufflepuff Chaser

It seemed that more students were on the Grounds than before, some of them looking around for friends while others were falling over in their attempt to get away. She couldn't believe that the situation had actually gotten worse. But through the fog, she found Paton again. She wanted to say something but as she opened her mouth smoke filled her lungs causing a large amount of coughs. "Paton, we have to help everyone. They seem to be heading around the Greenhouse. Maybe if we can create a distraction near the woods, students can go on either path," she told him between breaths. It was getting a little hard to breath but Mary's next concern was Winnie. Once again, she hadn't checked to see if Winnie had followed and now she couldn't find her. This time Mary didn't panic. She must still be inside the changing room, she thought.

As she scanned the area, she saw the Gryffindor boy helping another student and knew that he could help. "I'm gonna go tell that guy the plan. I'll be right back," she yelled to Paton, as she started walking away. She walked up to him, wanting first to ask if he had seen Winnie but she doubted he had. She hadn't waited for Paton's response to her plan and wondered if maybe he thought it was a bad idea. Now she was presenting it to the guy who seemed to know what he was doing and it made her slightly nervous. Still, she had to remain firm. "I have an idea. Paton and I will cause a distraction. We can draw it and it's attention towards us and away from the main and hidden paths. Once that happens, you should try to make sure everyone knows what to do.," she said, "But don't stick around too long. I'm not sure how long we can hold it off. If it comes to it, we'll make a break for the forest and come up with something else. Got it?" She hoped her demands sounded thought out and would be considered. She didn't want him to think it was some silly attempt to be brave or the hero. She was just trying to help. Now, if only they could find something to keep it from moving after they made their escape...

Sixth Year...Falling through the gaps

Pandora could sense the trouble the moment she came out onto the grounds. Years of avoiding danger had given her a sixth sense of sorts to this sort of thing. But she had merely guessed it was her hesitation of joining in with some social event. Not that some giant magical tiger fire thingy was attacking and killing people. Yeah, that was her second guess.

Of course her issue? Was the fact she now was getting smushed by the crowds of people running around like the chickens her neighbours had for a while before their dog got to them back in Australia. Actually no, it was after the dog got to them and they were running around without heads. Yes that had been a rather delightful sixth birthday for her and Lucas.

A particularly strong looking seventh year accidentally -or well Pandora would like to think it was accidental- shoved her out the way as he dashed past, knocking her to the ground. Pandora landed hard, and her dress twisted around her legs. Yes it was rather uncomfortable to trip in a giant old fashioned gown.

Marcus sauntered on the Grounds but stopped in his tracks when he realized something was wrong. Everyone was running towards him screaming. Usually, they were running the opposite way of him. He shoved his way through the crowd, which was harder than it looked. Every time he made a few steps, he was pushed at least five more back. When he finally made his way past the herd, his eyes widened. It a Fiendfyre. He had only heard of them in class. What was one doing here? Where were the teachers? When he saw the body of a student, burnt and lifeless, he began to back track his way back up the path. It was only out of the corner of his eye that he saw her. Someone knocked her out of the way and she crashed into the ground. Marcus put her out of his mind and began to make his way towards the castle. He wasn't going to risk his life for someone he didn't know, no matter how beautiful she was. There were plenty of pretty girls, one less would actually make the world better. Less girl drama.

Marcus didn't make it far before he stopped and looked back at the girl again. He groaned at his conscious for it that reason he began running in her direction. When he finally reached her, he stopped what he was doing. He couldn't believe how gorgeous this girl actually was. It was more than just looks though, he thought. He stood there for awhile until he realized the reason he came back. He kneeled next to her and examined her ankles. The right one wasn't bad but was the left one sprained? "Are you okay? C'mon let's get you up. We can't stay here," he said, lifting her up. He put one arm around her tiny waist, in case she needed something to lean on. "Can you walk?"

Sixth Year...Falling through the gaps

Pandora nearly fell again when a voice asked her if she was alright. Her eyes widened as she glanced up upon a vaguely familiar boy. She gaped slightly. Yes she was just gaping at him like a goldfish. Wasn't all that pretty but it was surprising that someone would actually help her in the current situation. "Um..I think I can walk, we should go I suppose." She stammered lightly as she clasped onto the boy like a lifejacket. It was weird, but she didn't have a safety blanket. She didn't have Lucas. She just had this boy.

"I'm Pandora." She added more to herself than anything as they headed toward the castle, making it slowly due to the bashing and crashing of people. She was thankful when they got to safety.

The first thing that hit Toby as he ran out onto the Grounds was the intense heat caused by the roaring flames all around them. His eyes remained straight ahead, strained on the spot where Paton was just ducking behind the edge of the Greenhouse; he shrugged off his heavy outer robe as Marion and Jack raced out. Glad of the relief afforded him by the loss of its weight, he followed them out single file, a burst of adrenalin granting him speed as he skidded in next to the Hufflepuffs. "Goodness, that's a big fire," he panted.

Jack had disappeared in the commotion, but Toby soon spotted him pointing a particularly small first year towards where they hid. He reached a hand out to the child and pulled her to safety; she was clearly distraught. "Hey now," he murmured, drying her tears with his sleeve. "It'll be fine, you hear me? The teachers will get this sorted out in no time." He smiled reassuringly, complete faith in his words. A conversation rung dimly in his ears, but the din made it difficult to hear even the students closest to him; the first he knew of their arrangements was when Marion disappeared from beside them, rushing towards Jack. "Watch yourself, Mary!" Nobody seemed to be managing to battle the flames down, though from the corner of his eye Toby spotted a huge wall of water rising which looked as though it could probably do the trick. She'll be okay, he told himself, a comforting arm still around the sobbing young girl.

Against all odds, he was pushing his way back through the crowd, looking for Francis. "FRANCIS." Was about all his lungs would let him bellow. None of the kids rushing to the castle looked at him as they went past him. He kept bellowing, though each successive yell was slightly less loud, he was tired. This was stupid. Did he want to die? He stumbled a bit, standing in the middle of the grounds, all sloshy and wet since the water swept through."Where are ya mate?" It wasn't anything more then a whisper. Blankly he skimmed the grounds, though he was feeling wrong. Like he wasn't really viewing the grounds from his eyes. But he saw something. A figure laying on the ground. Without really knowing if it was Francis and he hoped it was...

"You Francis, mate? You need to run." He stated, when he made it over to the guy. Though his knees buckled and he collapsed onto the ground. He laughed a little bit and for a moment wondered if he would die here. Though something in the back of his mind forced him to stand up, all they had to do was get back to the castle now and then he could die all he wanted. Against his better judgment he once again offered his hand to help the person up, though he was wobbling in his spot. This time it was more because Alistair needed the support. Would they make it? He wasn't even really sure of his surroundings anymore, the fiendfyre could be leaping onto his back and he wouldn't know the difference. It wasn't of course. The fiendfyre had run towards the stadium. Hadn't it? He didn't want to wait and find out.

ooc/feel free to drag Alistair as you will, once again, hope you don't mind him coming to help (even though he won't be much help)

Francis felt he was in a completely different world, he saw an orange glow emitting from somewhere and every scream and loud noise seemed to be muffled. He heard his name being called, but he didn't know what it was. Suddenly, a face appeared to him. Was he in a dream? A laugh came from his throat, it was Alistair. Francis shook his head and slowly sat up still holding onto his sketch pad and pencil with one hand, but his other hand was different. He suddenly felt a burning through his hand right to the bone. Wincing as he managed to sit up, he looked to his hand with wide eyes. The skin was burnt, it looked serious. He began to shake, what if this meant the end of his artist dreams?

He looked up biting his lip as he tried to stand up. Wincing, he managed to stand up without putting any weight on his hand. He watched his friend, he looked like he was about to fall. Francis was the caring type, he had to help Alistair. He managed to pull Alistair up, trying not to focus on the pain in his hand. He linked his arm with Alistairs, walking along with him. "Come on we need to find somewhere to hide, we'll get crushed if we run inside..." Francis slowly said looking around for any bushed to hide behind.

Good... he had found him. What incredible luck. If he survived this he would enter the lottery... if he survived... survived. Everything was spinning circles around his head, which was throbbing painfully. His breath was coming in painful wheezes. Perhaps he would look into staying active after this too... if he survived...survived...surv- He shook his head, in what would have been a quick head clearing jerk had he not been so tired. His head remained clouded, what was going on? He barely noticed Francis tugging at him, holding him up and talking. They needed to move? Why weren't they moving... he turned to Francis and against odds noticed his arm, black and charred. Was he leaning on it? He didn't want to hurt him.

Alistair pulled away from Francis, "Watch you arm mate, you should..." Was he falling? "Get that looked at..." Alistair collapsed onto the ground in a way that had about as much grace as a moose that was trying to roller skate. His head knocked the ground with a crack, he saw a burst of stars. Perhaps he should make a wish? Then, nothing. What good had that done? Nothing. If anything he had just thrown away his and Francis' life by charging out to help... what had he been thinking? Not that there was much think going on now, as he lay passed out on the Grounds. Let whatever happen to him happen. He would have no control over it now.

On the ground, Silas stumbled to get up while helping Laine as well. "Thanks for that," he said. "Come on we have to get out here." Maybe Hanna is already inside, safe and sound, he thought. They had to get out there. He was surprised only one teacher had showed up. Hadn't the other been told? They were the ones who actually knew what they were doing. But now wasn't the time for resentment but a time to get away. Thought most students had gotten away, it was hard for him to think of the students he wasn't able to help. He was too late for some of them. A fact he was beating himself up over.

He started to run towards the path when he saw flames. Not an actual fire that had been surrounding him, but the familiar fiery red hair that belonged to Hanna. He saw her and when she noticed him to, he saw the same look that was also on his face: relief. "Hanna," he whispered as he ran. When they finally reached each other, she engulfed him in a hug. He hugged her back tightly, surprised they hadn't squeezed the life out of each other. Content, he wanted to stay like that forever but the fires were still out of control and everyone was fleeing. They had to do the same if they wanted to escape any danger. "Come on. There's a path around the Greenhouse we can take. It's much safer that way," he said quickly, breaking the hug. Instead he took her hand and starting run towards the Greenhouse. he had lost sight of Laine but was sure she would be alright. He couldn't let himself think otherwise. He was just happy Hanna and him were together again. Now they just had to make it out alive.

Hanna nodded listening to Silas; she couldn't hide the blush on her cheeks as she held his hand and ran with him. She ran for her lift and ended up slightly in front of him. She felt herself begin to run out of breath. She tried to block the sounds of terrified screams out, but they were just there. She began to wonder if it would be her who was next to scream, her who would get hurt next. She couldn't leave her life without getting at least a little kiss from Silas. Feeling herself begin to regret not saying anything, she decided what she had to do.

Stopping for breath, she looked around quickly. They were quite far away from where all the chaos was, she had a chance. She looked at him, pushing him against the wall trying not to hurt him. "Let me do this..." She softly whispered before slowly leaning in and pressing her lips to his. It felt like a shock of electricity ran through her veins, all the screaming faded out and she began to feel warm inside. She kept her lips to his, not wanting to pull away from him.

Seventh Year

Beth's free hand flew to her nose as she entered The Grounds. The smell of burned hair, and she didn't want to know what else, lingered in the air. She could see the fiery tiger attacking Bannishtar, and gasped in horror as she took in several unmoving or bodies on the ground; some of them on fire. Someone should stop the fiendfyre real fast, until more students got seriously hurt, or killed. The few Aurors obviously couldn't tame the beast, but where were the other professors? And where was Kemp, he'd surely know how to deal with it.

Looking towards her schoolmates, who were acting according the plan or helping others, and back to the broom in her hand, she made a decision. Saddling her Comet, Beth rose into the air quickly, hoping to find the one who controlled the beast. Whether it could even be controlled, she didn't know. And if she didn't find that person, maybe she could save someone from the fire. She only hoped fiendfyre couldn't be quicker than her on the broom.

Beth was glad the tiger left the centaur alone, and saw it move to the stadium instead. Had not Jack and Marion warned them, the Hufflepuff Quidditch team would have burnt alive by now. Pushing that thought aside, she flew closer to the forest. At the edge of it, she took in a glimpse of some figure. Beth didn't see who it was, but the person was watching the events at the Grounds almost calmly. No running around, either to help or to hide. And this was suspicious enough to her.

Taking a sharp corner, Beth dived down towards the stranger. She reached for her wand, but realized she'd left it in her robes in the Changing Room. She never forgot her wand, did now really have to be the first time? Not having time to think of a plan, Beth shouted out at the person, "You there! Stop it!" She had a gut feeling this was the bastard who caused the mayhem, and was determined to stop him, even if it meant performing a possibly deadly maneuver.
