| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Ginny sighed. She kicked her boots off and stood with bare feet on the cool grass by the lake. Hmm, was that... a person on the other side of the lake? Maybe she was imagining things. She had been out here alone through most of lunch and half of Divination, just staring across at the landscape like a brooding little emo kid. But that wasn't who she was. She dipped her periwinkle-painted toes into the water and cursed herself for being all miserable like this. She needed to get out of this rut. Her encounter with Margo earlier had messed her up, she decided. She was too busy thinking about people who were miserable. She'd been happier before she'd seen Margo crying. Ginny picked up a rock and threw it at the lake. It plunked below the water with a splash, and a bit spilled onto her jeans. She'd never been very good at skipping rocks. She screwed up her eyes in concentration and tried to muster up some emotion. Her Elementum would only work if she could harness an exaggerated version of whatever she was feeling. It worked best with anger or happiness, she'd discovered, but as long as she had an extreme feeling, she could do it. However, she didn't seem to be feeling anything at the moment. The only thing she felt was gratitude for the fact that she wasn't in the hot, stuffy Divination classroom, gazing into a foggy crystal ball and trying to make sense of imaginary signs and omens. I'm out in the fresh air right now. This is so much better than inhaling disgusting perfume and falling asleep on my arm. I'm so glad I'm not taking Divination. So glad. So, so, sooo glad. Really. I'm the most grateful I've ever been. No matter how much she told herself this, she couldn't feel the emotion rising up inside herself. She decided to try anyway, though, while she was thinking about it, and she forced her brain to focus. Ginny closed her eyes and imagined sparks flying from her fingertips. She pushed the heat out from her brain and down her arm. She could see it in her mind. She opened her eyes and moved her arm as though she was tossing a ball underhand. A small spark skipped twice. Two small bounces, and then it fizzled out. Ginny's hands flew to her head in frustration, and she spun around once. How was it that such huge, scary fire could erupt from her on the first night and engulf the forest in flames, but now she couldn't even produce a measly spark? She sat down in the grass and let out a long sigh. It seemed kind of anticlimactic that she had no awesome powers now. All she could do was shoot sparks, and even that was inconsistent. Now that she was sufficiently exasperated, Ginny sent a few licks of flame across the water. It didn't help much, however, and now her energy had been expended. She pointed her index finger up in the air and focused all her attention on her fingertip. Anger was boiling inside her, which was how she was supposed to feel. She was staring so intently that her eyes were crossed - her finger blurred into two and then normal again. Just as she was beginning to expect that it wouldn't happen, flame shot from her fingertip with unexpected force, like a lighter finally turning on after you click it too many times. Ginny was startled, to say the least. Her first instinct was to jump up immediately, but she didn't realize, in her haste, that she was sitting on a slope. As she tried to stand, her ankle twisted beneath her. Her arms flailed wildly out of reflex, but it wasn't enough to keep her balanced, and her feet skidded into the lake. Now she was wet up to her ankles... and the water was cold! The sun was shining, but the air temperature was quite chilly. Ginny regained her composure and started to get out, but there were slippery rocks and mud beneath her feet. At her first movement, she toppled backwards, all the way into the water. She narrowly avoided hitting her head at the bottom. She caught the ground with her elbows and pushed herself back above the surface. She hadn't opened her eyes, but the water had a certain smell and a disgusting thickness that made it feel unclean. Ginny stumbled towards the shore, wringing out her hair. She crawled onto the grass and plopped down next to her stuff. The sun poked her in the eyes as she lied flat on her back, and it was gloriously warm after her dip in the lake. I deserved it, she thought. I deserved to fall in the lake, for getting so worked up about nothing. She considered drying herself off, but it just wasn't worth the effort. She was so tired, and so comfortable... Ginny closed her eyes, just for a moment, and started dreaming about herself being able to control great, blazing flames... |

Wide open arms can feel so cold. Precious ran her fingers over Oscar's ice sculpture that he had presented to her over a year ago. Her finger tips had become numb, but the similarity between the sculpture and the actual model were strikingly similar. Despite all weather conditions, it still stood. Of course, he had put a spell on it so it would not melt, but no one had attempted to destroy it. Nobody seemed to hate Precious that much, it seemed. She left the sculpture, still standing, and began to walk along the shore of the lake. Her hands dug into her coat pockets. Divination was a useless class to her, so she wouldn't even bother attending. As she neared the tree, she noticed a figure laying on the ground. Biting her lower lip, she pressed forward. The Slytherin hadn't seen Ginny Weasley ever since the Hospital Wing. Now that she was dozing off, it seemed where she was at her weakest and most vulnerable. Precious pulled out a cigarette lighter from her pocket - but then thought about it, and then placed it back into her pocket. She cleared her throat obnoxiously. "You're alone." |

Ginny heard footsteps, but she ignored them. She didn't care. She was calm and relaxed and if someone wanted to talk to her, they could - "You're alone," said the voice of Precious Hindert. Her eyes snapped open. She hadn't heard this unpleasant sound in quite a while. Wasn't it just so nice to hear it now? She stood and folded her arms across her chest, glaring coolly at Precious. "You have a marvelous perception of the obvious, dear. But what are you going to do to me? Because, to be honest, I don't really care." Because nothing mattered. Dave wasn't a point of contention anymore. Ginny had let him fall away, because she didn't really care. Precious insulting her would have no effect - she'd just brush it off, because she really didn't care. Here were two girls who didn't really care, faced with the simple dilemma of who could harm the other more, and how far they'd be willing to go. Ginny smiled... because, really, she didn't care. |

There was a sparkle in Precious' ice blue eyes. Ginny was always a challenge. The two had always been at each other's throats - mainly because of Dave. Well, Dave wasn't there at the moment. And he was forever gone from her memory. But that still wasn't enough for the two girls to be friendly towards each other. "You never do." She said quietly. This was odd behavior. Normally, Precious would have already cursed her. "When does Ginny fucking Weasley ever care?" Her eyes gazed out into the lake. "That's a stupid question, because she doesn't." Precious turned to meet her eyes and smiled. "No seriously," Not even joking around. "Isn't Criselda always with you or something?" Precious blinked her eyes. "Because the weak usually don't travel alone." |

Ginny looked down at her bare feet and then back at Precious. "Of course I don't care. The more I care, the more I have to lose. It's better to just... go it alone." She twirled a strand of damp hair around her finger. Precious looked perfect, of course. She wasn't as clumsy as Ginny was, perhaps. "Yeah, I'm pretty weak, and I'm all alone. So why don't you just curse me or something and get it over with so I can make it out of the Hospital Wing before the feast?" She knew it was probably no fun for Precious that she wasn't fighting back, but somehow the fact that the girl was her "arch enemy" didn't really matter anymore. All Ginny wanted to do was get through the year in peace. She'd already had enough drama to last her a lifetime. But then again... she could always use a little practice of her new skill. "Try to make me mad. I dare you." |

Precious laughed. "You're challenging me." she said. She bent down and picked up a rather flat stone. "What do you want me to do, Ginny?" Precious held up the stone between the two. "Do you want me to drag you to the bottom of the lake?" Precious tossed the stone and it skipped twice on the surface of the lake. Then it sank to the bottom of the lake where the monsters lay. It wouldn't be a problem. She shot Ginny a fierce glance. "I won't hesitate." It wasn't like Precious could breathe under water or anything. She closed her eyes for a moment and then slowly reopened them. Precious Hindert was a pretty little time bomb. She neared Ginny, almost to the point where they were almost touching. "Are you daring me to do something?" The fear says it in her eyes. She's lost control. Precious felt it rising from deep inside - surging through her veins and raging through her clenched teeth. Precious grabbed the collar of Ginny's shirt and pulled her close. "Hit me Ginny." She dared. She shook her gently. "Hit me. Come on, it's no secret that you've always wanted to. Hit me. I want to feel something." |

"Am I daring you to do something? Sure as hell I am." Precious raged at her, got up close to her. Ginny lunged forward and bit her on the nose, then pushed her away with all her strength. Did I seriously just...? But it didn't matter. Precious wanted to be hit? Ginny drew her hand back and slapped her across the face. "You wanna hit me too, don't you? You always have." She just let the rage build up inside her until she thought it was going to explode. Then she took a step back and smiled. |

"Cute." she faked a smile. And then Ginny bit her. Bit her. Like the fucking dog she was. At least Precious got what she wanted. Ginny had slapped her - but not hard enough. The sense hadn't been knocked back into her. She was still mad - still not in control. "Always have." Maniac giggles began to escape from her. Precious Hindert was really loosing it. She rolled her neck slowly. "Mmm ... " sighed Precious. Except, she didn't want to just hit Ginny. Her eyes snapped open. No, she didn't want to just hit Ginny at all. She lunged forward and wrapped both of her thin hands around Ginny's neck. "I've always wanted more than just to hit you!" she hissed, pressing tighter. "I hate you Ginny Weasley!" |

Ginny instinctively gasped for air as she saw Precious lunging for her throat. "I hate you, Ginny Weasley!" she hissed, her grip increasing in strength. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" she spat. Her body was getting hot, and her head was getting dizzy. Her fingers, especially, felt like they were on fire. She grabbed Precious's hands and yanked them away from her neck. Blood rushed to her head, and she shoved the girl away from her. Ginny didn't realize that uncontrollable, angry flames had indeed been issuing from her fingers when she touched Precious. She couldn't even see what was happening. A haze of red clouded her vision, and all she could see was a vague outline of the girl in front of her. "Who the FUCK do you think you ARE, Precious Hindert?" she screeched, her voice barely comprehensible in her own ears. "You think you're so much better than everyone else - that you can just push people around! What's so great about you, huh? NOTHING! You're just a desperate little slut. You think people are scared of you? HA!" A wild cackle escaped Ginny's lips, and for a moment, she let it echo across the lake. But she was too far gone to stop now. She barely knew where she was. She'd gone from not caring to being out of control in an alarmingly short time. She could hear the blood pounding in her ears. She reached down and pulled some grass up from the earth and heard it crackling in her hands and relished in the sound. Then, before she was even conscious of doing it, she threw the flaming, shriveled grass in Precious's direction. Her face was screwed up in anger as she screamed. "I don't give a fuck what you think! You hate me just because you can! You can have Dave, okay? You're perfect for each other anyway; you're both assholes! I never did anything to you! I just sat there, being the bigger person, while inside I wanted to fucking murder you!" Ginny charged towards Precious and pushed her with her fiery hands. "It doesn't matter what I do, right? It doesn't matter if I let you burn to the ground right now, because I'm a filthy little blood traitor and NOTHING I DO MATTERS." She shoved Precious again, this time towards the lake. Ginny saw her stumble, but she didn't see what happened next, because she had already turned around. OOC: Major godmoding, but I guessed you wouldn't mind too much. |

"I'm Precious fucking Hindert, who the fuck are you?!" she shouted as she was shoved away from the other girl. Her breathing had become fast and unsteady like she had been running for a long distance. The rage inside of her was dying to be let out. It was a like a wild animal wanting to be freed from the hands of the ring leader. She clenched her teeth. How would this end? She stood, shaken a bit by Ginny's words. Instead of defending herself, she stood and listened. Soon enough, she could picture Annik in Ginny's place, saying that she would never be good enough. "You'll never be good enough. You're a disgrace to the Hinderts." Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. With wide eyes, she watched as Ginny hurled pieces of grass at her that had been set on fire. Clearly, Ginny didn't need a wand to ignite the grass. No, they seemed to burst into flames as soon as they left her grip. Confused, Precious glanced all around her, defenses down for a moment. "What .. ?" she whispered to herself. "Dave doesn't matter anymore!" the Slytherin shouted back. As she began to shake her head, tears pooled into her eyes. "I never wanted him. Not even from the start." She reached up and wiped the tear that had escaped. "I only enjoyed playing games with you. He was just a puppet." Ginny's touch seemed to burn straight through her chest. The ice that had replaced her heart had melted with the physical touch of the fire. Into the lake fell Precious. She didn't move. The water engulfed her. Her hair began to float to the surface, and her fingertips became numb from the coldness. In a matter of moments, she had become comfortably numb. It wasn't long until the familiar feeling sunk in. Her legs glued together by an invisible substance and water no longer lingered inside her nose. Her eyes fluttered open to see the particles of the water dance right in front of her. Her eyes landed on the figure standing with her back turned towards her. She erupted from the grasp of the liquid. "Ginny!" she shouted. Water droplets remained on the tips of her eyelashes. "I am going to eat your soul." She flicked her tail and a large wave of water surged towards the shore. |

Ginny heard a splash and instantly whipped back around. A wave of water spilled over the shore and soaked her damp legs. "What the--?" She saw a glimmer of something shiny dipping beneath the water. Was it... like... a dolphin or something? "Precious, what is...?" She took a startled step back and was about to grab her stuff and run, but instead she bent down to get a better look. She kept her distance and automatically reached for her back pocket, where she'd stowed her wand. Precious's shouts rang across the lake, and Ginny said nothing; she just stared. Her heartbeat and her breath slowed down, and her nerves peaked. She wasn't scared of Precious, but she was scared of what she was about to see. The idea occurred to her that - but no, that was crazy. Ginny could feel all the heat slowly seeping out of her body. This usually happened after she practiced using her fire, though normally not to this extent. She'd overworked it today. A small breeze blew through, and goosebumps rose on her bare arms. Her eyes fluttered, but she snapped them open and tried not to let it show that the plug had been pulled on her energy. "You're gonna eat my soul? Don't you have to come out of the water for that?" Shit. Her voice was shaking. She stood up straight again and put her hands on her hips, trying to resist the temptation to look around for a chance to run. |

Another manic giggle escaped from her lips. "Are you scared baby?" she dared, swishing her tail. This meant three people now knew of her secret: Genesis Villalba, Emma Gray, and Ginny Weasley ... unfortunately. It was something big: not everyone saw half-mermaids around school. Especially when the one girl, who was Pureblooded, and despised half-breeds to the fullest was one. "Cute. You like a challenge," she mused. She swam further back into the lake. Her tail was clearly visible now. "I'll be back for you, Ginevra." With a flick of her tail, Precious Hindert descended into the depths of the murky lake water. |

Precious sank below the water. She said she'd be back, but Ginny didn't know what to think. She'd just have to wait and see. The ripples spread across the lake, and she stood watching them, transfixed. So Precious Hindert was half a mermaid. Maybe that was what she meant, all those times she'd threatened to tear people apart. She meant she was going to drag them down to the bottom of the Black Lake. Ginny shuddered in the cold. She bent down to pick up all her stuff and put her jacket back on. Maybe it would get a little wet, but it was better than being freezing. She put her shoes back on and tossed her bag over her shoulder, and then she stumbled back towards the castle. Hopefully she'd have enough time to shower and change before the Apparition lesson. |
