Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

"Shut up, Nikki! Blaming Ginny's not gonna help!" She shouted over the loud crackling of the flames. "It happened, and blaming's not gonna solve anything. Stop whining like big baby and do something useful," She nodded to Laney to take her place by Laine's side, and pulled Ginny up roughly. "What are you waiting for? Move!"

"You! We will talk later," She snapped at Ginny, running over to the fire and trying to put them out. "Don't just stand there! Help me with this!" The fire spread so fast in less than a minute, and she wondered if it was already attracting curious eyes. Her stomach tightened in anxiety as she thought about their possible fate after this, and tears sprang into her eyes again.

Hastily wiping them with a grimy hand, she and Ginny sent water jets here and there, making sure they leave nothing out. After turning that part of a forest into a mini-swamp for Merlin knows how long, both dropped onto the floor, breathing heavily.

"We... are... in... somuchtrouble," Criselda breathed, rolling onto her side to face Ginny. "You need to explain what happened. Now,"

Nikki growled under her breath. "It happened, and blaming's not gonna solve anything. Stop whining like big baby and do something useful.." Criselda had said. Did she really think she could be the overlord of Nicole? "Firstly," Nicole shouted their way whipping out her wand, "Don't ever make fun of me. Or so help me Merlin, I will have your head. Got it? Good." Nicole growled huskily. She moved over to Laine and moved her over slightly, uncovering her entire body. "Mobilicorpus." Nikki spoke clearly and waved her wand, and the girl's unconscious body became as light as a feather. Keeping her focus on Laine's body, Nicole followed Criselda and Ginny down a steep path. It seemed to get darker as they further down the path. This frightened Nicole. She had no idea what might be lurking...

"So. What's the plan?" Nicole said as she approached the two. Slowly and carefully, Nicole lowered Laine's body and sat. "Or are we just winging it?"

"Whoa, that's some scary shit coming from a Ravenclaw like you," Criselda rolled her eyes. "And I'm not making fun of you, I'm merely pointing out facts in case your brain's too full of homework to notice trivial things," She didn't have time for this.

"I don't know... We just turned this whole part of the forest into a mini pool..." She trailed off, looking at Ginny again. "What do we plan to do?"

She rolled off her back and saw Laine's broken arm and pointed her wand to it, her mind traveling a few moments back when her knee was still--"Episkey," She heard a muffled sound from Laine's arm, and sighed. "Well, that's the best so far... I guess we wait for her to wake up? Unless someone remembers the spell to regain consciousness..." She crashed onto the floor beside Ginny again, her mind uncomfortably blank. Blinking back tears of frustration, she held her bestfriend's hand and squeezed it, closing her eyes and desperately willing this situation to be better.

Divination Professor and Deputy Headmaster,...as odd as that sounds.

As the girls fretted, sounds of hoofbeats and whispers came from beyond the trees growing louder and louder still:

"...you sure you saw--"

"...Bannishtar, I saw an orange glow...started a fire here..."

"...reason could there be..."

"...humans, most likely..."

"...wizards...Knights...Magical Law Enforcement?"

"All the same to me," said a voice that was loud, strong, full of spite and sounding as though it was coming from just beyond a bush up ahead, "I tell, you Bannishtar, we can treat with them all we like. They do not care for us, so why should we care for their plight when they come here and pillage and burn, which is in their nature. We are not of their outside world."

"Shh," said another voice, calm and monotone, "Quiet Bane. Do you wish to scare them off before we have a chance to see what they are up to?"

"For all we know," said a very familiar voice: The deep, rich, velvety tones that belonged to Bannishtar, Hogwarts' sole centaur Professor, "it could be a simple camp fire."

"Well even that's dangerous," growled the voice of Bane, "You know very well--"

"Sh!" said the monotone voice again, just as the the owners of the voices stepped out from beyond the darkness, revealing themselves to the girls.

All three of the centaurs were surprised to see the five human girls, and each had a bow with an arrow drawn, ready to fire. Bane, the dark skinned, dark haired beastly-looking centaur looked shocked and angry, the blonde palomino centaur to his left mixed his shock with curiosity, and Bannishtar seemed to be shocked, angry, and worried: He noticed both the downed and scorched tree and the state of Laine Bailey, a student of his own house, Gryffindor. Of course, he recognized every girl there. Firenze and Bannishtar both eased the tension off their bowstrings. Bane did not. He kept his arrow pointed down, away from the girls, but drawn and ready to fire if need be.

"Students," growled Bane, "from the school. Why did you set fire to that tree?"

"Enough," said Firenze, "Can you not see they are injured?"

"What is the meaning of this?" demanded Bannishtar, "Explain yourselves. Now."

Bannishtar had more cause to worry than just for the children. He had not set foot on school grounds since May, when he railed against Abraxas Kemp and his Law Enforcement the night they arrested Sneckenberg. He'd remained in the forest, amongst his own kind since then, never ceasing in his efforts to get them to realize that the centaurs would not be able to simply sit and watch while events unfold, as they have done for centuries.

So far, he'd had some luck in turning some to his point of view, but not many--not enough. And, mostly, the centaurs, including Banni, had done nothing BUT sit and watch these past few months. The centaurs continued to consult the stars, and Bannishtar had taken part.

Now that the children were in front of him, though, there would be little time for gazing into the possible future. Their presence reminded him that things were happening now. Already, he knew, it would be time to return.

It was as if the girls themselves were an omen signifying this.

Melanie Pickett
Sixth Year & Poster of the 16,000th OOC Reply! :D

Melanie was afraid. The fire had exploded from Ginny and cast dancing shadows across all her friends' faces. It was gone now, but in her mind's eye, she could still see everything...

Ginny and Criselda sat down, and Melanie wanted to scream. Even though there was really nothing they could do, it didn't seem right to just sit there. She took off her shoes and rolled her pants past her knees before wading through the water. It was almost shin-deep.

She was about to urge them to get up, to do something to help get them out of here. Did they not see that Laine was injured? But Melanie heard the sound of footsteps, and she froze. The rustling leaves caught her attention. Who else would be out here in the forest?

Three centaurs appeared in the clearing. Melanie brought her hand to her mouth to keep from crying out. Oh, God. They'd seen the fire.

She then heard the deep, familiar voice of Bannishtar, head of Gryffindor house. "What is the meaning of this? Explain yourselves. Now." She wanted to ask him what he was doing in the forest, but she decided that it wasn't the best time for that.

Melanie rushed forward and began to speak, stumbling over her own words in her haste. "Please, sir. We missed the train, so we drove here in a flying car, and then we crashed into the forest. We were lost and we couldn't find our way back to the castle, and then... one of us must have confused Lumos and Incendio, because the tree suddenly caught fire. There was nothing we could do." She looked down after the entire story came spilling out of her mouth. Tears leaked down her face. She sounded childish and silly and afraid. And she had lied. But she didn't want to get Ginny in trouble. She'd let someone else tell that part of the story. For all she knew, that was what had happened. She would... say that she wasn't looking. Yeah. She didn't really know what she saw.

After convincing herself that this was true, she was able to look the centaur in the eye and almost--almost--ignore the guilt that washed through her stomach and made her feel sick.

Banni raised an eyebrow incredulously a gesture which--if you consider that this centaur believed that the stars revealed the future--was quite out of character for him.

"What is a car?" asked Bane.

Then, as if on cue, there was a crashing sound from above--the sound of crunching metal that was foreign to the forest-dwelling centaurs. All three of them raised their bows defensively. The glare of headlights shone over the heads of the centaurs, growling larger, then smaller.

The centaurs scrambled in opposite directions as the blue Ford Angela landed nose-first on the ground, its back wheels slamming into the earth a moment later, throwing up dirt as they spun around, autonomously attempting to gain traction in the soft earth its wheels were kicking up in all directions. The squeal of the tires was like nothing the centaurs had ever heard before. Bane had even fired and arrow at it, which shot through the cracked windshield, leaving a circular hole. The arrow was embedded in the front passenger's seat.

At last, the thing seemed to have gained the control needed to begin moving on its wheels, it shot forward at a speed even a centaur could not match, smashing into the tree in front of it. Smoke spewed out of both ends of the car, from the tailpipe and from the hood, which had caved in where it had made contact with the tree. The windshield had shattered completely. Yet, the car simply went in reverse, turned slightly to the left, then continued on forward, deeper into the forest, hitting a few more trees here and there as it made its way into darkness.

It wasn't until its red tail lights were no longer visible and the sputtering engine was no longer audible, that the stunned silence of the centaurs broke.

"What...was that?" Bane said, finally.

"I think it would be safe to assume that was...car?" said Firenze, surveying the children.

"I am not sure what the rules are," said Banni, "but I believe you have broken at lease a few of them--school rules and the rules of your people. It is also illegal to introduce foreign magical creatures into a different ecosystem, as I recall." Banni had taken this "car" for some kind of creature, apparently, "Thirty points from each of you! And detention for a week! When we return, I shall notify Professor Aphelion, and if he wishes to bring down yet more punishment, then so be it. I shall also need to speak with the Headmistress, as I do not know what of your societal rules have been broken, or what to do about it. Now, Miss Bailey needs medical attention, so we must hurry."

"Are you sure?" asked Firenze.

"I am certain," said Banni, "It is time I returned. I shall show them what we've discovered."

Firenze and Bane both nodded reverently, an odd gesture, as if this thing they'd discovered held some kind of religious significance.

Banni lowered himself to the ground, so that his belly rested on the forest floor.

"Firenze? Can you aid us?" Banni asked. He knew better than to ask it of Bane, who sneered, but otherwise kept his mouth shut.

"Certainly," said the palomino centaur, who imitated Banni, lowering himself to the ground.

"Three of you climb on to Firenze's back and hold on," said Banni, ignoring Bane's grunt of disapproval, "Place Miss Bailey on my back, and one of you will accompany her. It would have been best if you had not moved her, if her head was injured, but since you have, we should go. We can move faster than any human Hurry up!"

Criselda's body tensed as their head of house came out of the darkness, along with other centaurs. She forced a lump down her throat as they advanced, her hair standing on end as she caught sight of one unfriendly-looking centaur.

She cringed at the sound of Bannishtar's voice, and was too speechless to say anything. Luckily, Melanie was calm - well, calmer than anyone in the group, anyway - enough to explain in behalf of them. All Criselda could do was nod and gulp, her eyes glancing frantically from the bow in each hand. She fought the urge to cry (she had already cried too much that day, anyway) and waited for his verdict, expecting a hundred and one house point deductions. The term hasn't even started yet. Oh, Gryffindor will kill them...

Her eyes went wide as the Ford Anglia sped off into the forest, cringing as one of the bows got near her face. She stumbled backwards and struggled to get on her feet, running towards Ginny and clasping her hand tightly. She couldn't believe this. Since when was she this much of a coward? "We are so dead, Ginny. We are so--"

Criselda groaned silently as Bannishtar gave his verdict, her grip loosening a little as she took in his words. She turned her head towards Nicole and Melanie upon the mention of Professor Aphelion's name. Great. Now two houses are involved. "Yes, sir..."

"Ginny, I need help with Laine," She called out, the whole event making her forget that she could do magic. She crouched down to try and carry Laine, her wand in her front pocket poking her side as she did. "Ow! Uggh, nevermind, I got this..." She said, more to herself, as she pointed her wand to Laine's body and murmured the incantation.

Once she was on Bannishtar's back, she turned to Ginny. "Sit with Laine. I'll sit with Laney and Nikki," She gave her hand a squeeze of assurance and turned to climb onto Firenze's back, Nicole following her lead and sitting with her.

((OOC: Since no one has posted in four days, I can assume I can just godmode us out? I'll post us in the Entry Hall, if that's okay.))

With the students safely aboard, the two centaurs rose to their full height.

"I shall inform the scouts that you are traveling towards the school," said Bane, who was still sneering, just a bit. Banni nodded, knowing full well the patrols were more than a little anxious these days, and might shoot first and ask questions later.

With that, the two centaurs carried the five girls out of the forest towards the school.
