Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

It was weird to think about, if a tree fell where nobody could hear it - did it make a sound? Essentially, this was that situation. Except, the tree was their car - and the forest was forbidden...

"Ginny?" Laine repeated, trying to make sense of what just happened. One moment it was a nice sunny day, the next- they were surrounded by darkness.

"GUYS? Can anybody hear me?!" Laine panicked. Looking desperately at her friends - unsure if they were awake, or not.

Something warm trickled down her forward, followed by a sharp pain. The pain was intense now, and Laine smacked her hand on her forehead. It was a bit swollen, but nothing more than a bad scratch. Relieved, Laine turned towards her friends again - ignoring the blood which trickled down at a steady rate.

"Ginny, please tell me you're okay."

Nicole swung open the door of the now battered Ford Anguila, clutching her side, just above her hip "Gahhh!" was all Nicole could say as she staggered to a standing positions. A searing pain rushed through her left side. Nicole lifted up her t-shirt, only to see a slight gash, where she presumed Twitch's cage corners had caught her as she braced for impact.

The crash itself was not all that bad, thanks to Nicole's quick cushioning charm. "You alright, Laine?" Nicole said before clearing her throat. "Ginny? Lanie? Crissy? Anyone?" Nicole called out. She turned to Laine and smiled sympathetically. "It's alright Laine! You were a brilliant driver up there. It's just none of us expected that last, bit." said Nicole, who then laid herself down underneath a tall Oak tree. "Lets all just chill for a minute and gather ourselves. Then we have to get out of here. It's called the forbidden forest for a reason, and I don't particularly want to find out why."

Laine felt tears trickle down her cheek after Nicole's little speech. I guess you can say Laine could be sensitive - but who could blame her? THEY HAD JUST CRASHED INTO THE FORBIDDEN FOREST! Everyone was probably going to be a little temperamental. In fact, it was very impressive how well Nicole could keep her cool in a moment like this.

Laine pushed herself out of the car, the pain in her head still searing. Ginny hadn't responded yet, so Laine had no idea what happened. But for now, she needed the air. Although, trying to get air in the middle of the forbidden forest wasn't the best idea.

What direction were they supposed to go, anyways? It's not like they had a magical compass telling them to follow me! Aside from the car, the forest looked the same in every direction. Dark, cold, and mysterious.

As a general rule of thumb, Laine had avoided the place at all costs. They were warned at it's danger, and Laine wasn't stupid. She may act stupid, but she wasn't.

"Nicole, we're in a fickle mess here, aren't we?" Laine sobbed, curling up on the ground as she waited for the others. Hopefully they were okay, Laine just needed to gather herself...

Something hooted nearby.

"Yeah, no kidding." Nicole laughed nervously, hearing things hoot and hiss. "At least you actually knew how to drive up there. I had only just started to learn before we came to school" Nicole responded, trying to keep her own emotions intact. Yes, she was scared. Would she ever admit that? Probably not.

Nicole crawled up to the car and took her frightened tabby out of the back seat. In his cage, Twich was curled up, shaking. "Aww. It's gonna be okay Twitchy. We'll be in the common room before you know it! You'll see." Nicole spoke sweetly to the cat, holding the metal cage in front of her face. "You know what, Laine? Nicole asked the girl, "I have a feeling that this is gonna be one hell of a year!" Nicole broke into laughter.

"Driving? That's the one thing my parents would teach me!" Laine half-laughed/half-sobbed out. It took only a minute for her to realize this probably wasn't the best thing to say in the situation. Nobody knew about her parents, not even Ginny. She certainly wasn't going to tell Nicole. Thinking fast, Laine lied: "I mean, they were ecstatic to teach me how to drive! What muggle parent isn't...heh?"

Silence filled the air momentarily as Laine fought back her tears. "Well Nikki, only if we survive our adventure to the school...oh boy."

Blood and tears were one of the same at this point, streamed down Laine's face in her mask of hurt. Fright consumed her, but she tried to hold it back - to stay the strong one. Like Nicole, a girl - even as Ravenclaw, was very brave. Laine had to admire it.

Were tears supposed to hurt?

Ginny heard someone calling her name and opened her eyes. She tried to remember what had happened, but...

"...Does your dad know what gasoline is?"

And then they were falling, down and down, their screams resonating through the car. They were crashing into the Forbidden Forest... and the car came closer to the ground and hit a tree on the way. The door flew open and Ginny, who had been leaning against it, tumbled out backwards. She remembered the dizzying feeling of spinning through the air, but luckily she'd only been about six feet off the ground. Then she'd hit her head on a root and everything was black...

"Ginny, please tell me you're okay!"

She sat up too fast, which sent her head spinning. She brought her hand up to steady herself and found blood in her red hair, along with several thin scratches along her arm. She wiped her hand on her white shirt, only realizing it after but still not caring.

It was dark. She reached in her pocket and lit her wand. The narrow beam of wandlight searched for the car. "Laine? Are you there?" As if to answer her question, Laine Bailey clambered out of the wrecked Ford Anglia.

"Hey," Ginny began, pushing herself into a standing position. "Is everyone okay?"

"Is everyone okay?"

Laine pushed herself off the forest floor. It was hard to see through her tears. All that mattered right now as to see if Ginny was hurt. Laine crawled around the crumpled car, and looked at her friend. "Ginny? You don't look so fabulous right now." Laine told her honestly, before putting one hand on the car and pulling herself up.

"I don't know where we are!" Laine cried, wringing her hands as she looked desperately between the two. "Hang on a tick, are Laney and Crissy still in the car?!"

The car, in fact - looked terrible. Crumpled against the tree, though not completely destroyed. In the wandlight, Laine could faintly make out the forms of her two other friends. Nearly tripping on her way, Laine ran around and dove back into the car. Trying to see if they were okay.

Her large form blocked the light, so she lit her own wand. The light shone on their faces.

"Laney? Crissy? Are you ok?"

A sharp beam of light poked Melanie in the eye. She seemed to be lying facedown, slumped over one of the seats of the car. Once they'd run out of gas, gravity had taken over, and she'd been pulled to the floor.

She now stumbled up, and she was trying to stand, but her head hit the roof of the car. "Shit--I mean, shoot! That hurt! I'm here, Laine. I think Crissy's here, too..." She looked around, unable to find Crissy, but not panicking too much. It was dark, and Melanie had to keep a cool head by not letting her imagination run out of hand.

She picked her way over the luggage that had toppled all around the car during their hasty descent and finally made her way to the door. She opened it and stepped out clumsily, still a little shaky and needing to hold onto the car for support.

"So guys, what are we gonna do? The train got into the station..." Melanie glanced at her wristwatch, "Twelve minutes ago, and we're in the middle of the forest with no idea where the path is." She knew she could find which way the school was, by using a spell she'd learned back in fourth year. She laid her wand flat in the palm of her hand and whispered "Point me." Her wand spun around a bit until it stopped, pointing right at her.

She surveyed her surroundings and thought for a moment. The forest was east of the school, and her wand had pointed north. "Guys, we have to go to the right," she said, stowing her wand again and pointing in the right direction. "We should start looking for the path..."

Laine pulled herself out, not willing to leave the car until Criselda was out. However, through her tears she was able to breathe another sigh of relief.
"We need to get Crissy, and our luggage! LANEY. No path thingy yet, first CRISSY."
Laine demanded, shuffling over to the back door. Wiping her tears, she began shoveling luggage out of the back. Lucy, her speckled toad - croaked loudly.

"Oh Lucille, thank Belleford you are hanky-panky." the raven-haired crazy cooed. The little toad croaked again, so Laine hugged her cage to her chest. If the toad was ok, then everything else was bound to have survived. Including Crissy.

But what if Criselda hadn't? She still hadn't responded, and Laine wasn't sure what was going on. If they didn't start moving soon, something was bound to find them. The forbidden forest was dangerous, they could easily die. Tears began rolling down her face again, and she tightly gripped the cage.

"I hate this place. I HATE IT." was all she could whine in her fear.

"What's happening!?" Crissy shouted over the dying engine, panic rushing through her.

"What's happening!?" She repeated, but only their collective screams answered her. Crissy found herself screaming along, but it sounded... detached. Like it wasn't coming from her... Like she was seeing this from another eye... Another perspective. Gravity acted on their dying car, pulling them all towards the ground. She felt her stomach drop with the car as they swooped lower and lower, and knew it was beyond their control. She closed her eyes and gripped Ginny's hand firmly, bracing herself for the big crash.

Nikki...

Laney...

Laine...

Ginny...

Gin-
Crissy's eyes popped wide and alert, the name calling her back to consciousness. She stayed still for a while, letting her senses adjust to her surroundings.

Her eyes analyzed the situation. She was left in the front seat, her arms against her face. Her legs were in an awkward position below her, and she could see that one was twisted uncomfortably. Giving a small whimper, she decided to keep still first.

And she waited.

Different voices were searching, calling out names and asking for each other. "I'm here," She murmured, but she doubted if anyone could hear. She cleared her throat and tasted blood in her mouth, but completely ignored it. "Ginny, I'm here!" She called out a little louder, hoping she was near enough to hear her.

Ginny whipped around upon hearing Criselda's voice. She made herself a bit dizzy again, but she ignored the lightheaded feeling as she crossed the small distance between herself and the car. There was blood on her friend's face. A wave of nausea rolled through Ginny's stomach, but she ignored it. She could only think about getting Crissy out. She wrenched the door open and collapsed onto the seat next to her best friend, feeling like she was going to pass out.

She put her arms around Criselda's thin shoulders. "Are you okay? Can you move your leg?" Her knee was bent at an awkward angle, and Ginny didn't know if she'd be able to walk. In the distance, she heard Laney musing about which direction to take and Laine and Nicole fussing over their pets. Great. So now all they had to worry about was getting out of here.

Ginny grabbed the hair tie off her wrist and tore off a piece of the bottom of her shirt. She twirled her hair into a ponytail and tucked the makeshift bandage in, to stop the minor blood flow. For some reason, this made her think of another time she'd done this, for somebody else. Except it had been a piece of her stupid blue dress, with scuff marks on it from a certain high-heeled shoe...

Shaking her head, Ginny tried to refocus herself. This memory had nothing to do with anything. Once her head was on straight, she turned to Criselda. "Can you walk, honey? Cause we can't get anywhere if you can't walk." She got out of the car and waited for her friend to follow.

"Ginny!" She threw her arms around her bestfriend's neck, being very careful not to move anything from her waist, down. "A-are you okay? Is everyone else okay? What happened--OW!" Tears streamed down her face as she accidentally put pressure on her right leg. Biting her lip hard, she tried to move it more carefully, sliding it out slowly from its position.

She winced as she tried to weed herself out of the little room she had. She reached for Ginny's shoulder for support, her hands catching something instead...

"Ginny! Are you okay? OhmyGod!" She felt something sticky on her fingers as they caught on her hair, panic making her tense. In her worry, she tried to stand up to pull Ginny with her, only to fall down on the forest floor. She stifled scream and clutched her knee, more tears falling down her cheeks. "Th-that was stupid, wasn't it?" She said, in between sobs. "We should get out of here... But I need support,"

Ginny held Criselda up the best she could, but it was hard. She could barely steady herself. What could she do? Criselda obviously couldn't walk, and Ginny was panicking now. How would they get back to the school? She couldn't carry Crissy. The forest around her started spinning into a blur once again, and she put her free hand over her wound to apply pressure.

The bandage on her head brought back another memory. The blood was flowing to her head, and despite the dizziness of reality around her, the image in her head was crystal clear.

The Slytherin boy on the bed, whose head was wrapped in bits and pieces of two Gryffindor girls' dresses. The sticky feeling of the dried tears on Ginny's cheeks; the almost tangible feeling of her hair unwinding from its elaborately curled style. The sting in her bare feet from having lost her shoes and walking all over the collapsed ceiling. The psychotic nurse Minnie O'Malley, with her sharp kelly-green pupils irises. The concentration on her face as she raised her wand, pointed it at Dave's head, and said...

Episkey.

That was the spell... maybe. It obviously fixed things that were broken, so it was worth a shot. Ginny had to do something. So she took out her wand, pointed it at Criselda's knee, and said, "Episkey."

There was some sort of a click, or a pop--something that sounded quite gruesome. But maybe it was good. Maybe it meant that her leg was healed.

"Crissy...? How do you feel?"

Crissy looked away from her knee as Ginny brought her wand to it, stifling a shriek. The pop made her heart jump, and for a while, she sat still. Her eyes wide open and breathing shallow, she tried to move her knee. She waited for the pain that would never come, and bent and stretched it. "I feel better. How about your head? I could swear it's soaking in blood when I touched it, Ginny... Try not to move so much," She stood up and helped her up, clutching her side to support her.

"Guys? Laine? Nikki? Laney? We're here!" She called out, the sound of her voice sending chills down her spine. "How long have we been here?"

"We've been here too long," Melanie cut in, before anyone else had a chance to answer Criselda's question. "Now I'm glad we're all okay, and I'm not trying to be a downer or anything, but can we please start trying to find our way out of here?"

...How long had it been since she'd said those words? There was no way to keep track of time. The walking. The endless walking and tearing through trees and vines and branches and roots and sticks and leaves that all looked the same. Ginny was tired. Ginny was hungry. And Ginny was sick of wandering aimlessly through the effing forest. Melanie was up front leading the way, and Ginny had full confidence in her ability... But still, it was nerve-wracking. They weren't even on the path anymore. Melanie, bless her, had shrunk everyone's luggage down to pocket size, because she seemed to be the only one calm enough to be able to do magic.

Indeed, Ginny was filled with panic. She was just waiting for her wand light to go out, thanks to insufficient concentration. Criselda was struggling to walk. Laine and Nicole were also sporting random injuries. There was barely any late-afternoon sunlight left peeking through the trees.

There was a faint howling noise in the distance. Ginny's heart skipped a beat, and fear washed through her mind, taking over her every thought. She dropped her wand, and the light flickered out. Consequently, Ginny lost her footing and tripped over something sticking out of the ground. She would have fallen face-first in a puddle of mud if her arms hadn't broken her fall.

She jumped back to her feet, shaking the mud off her arms and cursing under her breath. "Where the hell's my wand...?"

"Ginny, are you all right?"

Melanie's question sent her over the edge. "Of course I'm not all right! We're stuck out here in the forest, with no clue where we are. We're going to get a million detentions--as if Banni doesn't already hate me enough!--and Gryffindor's in negative points before the year's even started! Plus, my mum is going to kill me when she finds out I took the car!" Ginny's shrill voice echoed through the empty forest. Melanie didn't deserve to be yelled at, and somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew that.

But manners were the last thing on her mind. Her heart was beating fast, like it was trying to pound its way out of her chest. Ginny was in a rage. She was the maddest she'd ever been. She couldn't even speak, she was so angry.

Her face was growing hotter and hotter. In fact, the heat seemed to be spreading through her entire body. Why did she have to be stuck in this situation? This whole thing was entirely her fault, which made it all the more frustrating. Her exasperation with herself reached a level it had never reached before.

When did the forest get so hot? It must have been a hundred degrees... or a thousand... or a million... Ginny was sweating; she could feel it. Her hands, particularly, were so hot that they felt like they were burning. It tickled, sort of, almost like flames were licking away at...

HER HANDS WERE ON FIRE!

Ginny jumped around, panicking still more, and wondering where the fire had even come from. There was no sunlight to catch on anything! Why was this happening NOW? Ginny couldn't handle it. She let out an earth-shattering scream to release all her pent-up irritation. She gave everything she had behind the scream; tried her hardest to make the loudest noise she could.

And when she released the noise--released her anger--she also released the fire. It shot from her hands in a great fiery jet, and Ginny watched it, her brown eyes wide at the sight. The power shot right from her and manifested itself upon the nearest tree. The flames spread quickly, from the trunk all the way up to the leafy top, and the smell of burning wood filled her nostrils. Her friends' expressions were somewhere between incredulity and fear, but she wasn't focused on them anymore.

She stared at the tree, listened to the loud crackling noises. The fire was eating the wood and laughing at her. She could almost hear a ghost of her own scream among the loud sounds of the tree burning down.

Down. The tree was burning down. And Ginny was in a trance. She couldn't move or think. She had made this fire--caused it to happen. While she was preoccupied with this concept, the tree was beginning to snap in two... and it looked like it was going to fall on the girls...

Nicole drooped her head against her chest, leaning her arms against the tree. She felt broken, and in need of some serious sleep. She was just dozing off, when something landed on her shoulder. She felt eight little taps against her upper arm, and she turned to look.

Nicole screamed. "AHH. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!? SPIDER! SPIDER! GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET THE f*ck OFF ME!" Nicole was screeching. She shook her shoulders violently, but the spider would not budge. She smacked herself as hard as she could, and the spider landed before her. The spider was bigger than she'd personally ever seen, being the size of her foot.

Nicole backed up and lost her footing, tumbling down. "Arania Exumai!" Nicole screeched, whipping out her wand. The spider was blown back, and it skittered away, retreating. Her one true fear had been discovered by the others.

Suddenly, the forest went hot. Immense light came from Ginny's direction. As Nicole gathered herself, she watched in dismay as fire from Ginny's palms burnt down a tall tree. "O-oh-oh my god, Ginny. What the bloody hell was that?!" Nicole stuttered, her eyes wide with fear.

If there was anything Laine hated the most right now, it was walking. Walking through the endless, creepy forest. Was it ever going to end?! Laine whined as she walked, dragging her feet along the animal trodden path. Was that a spider near her feet? Ew! Kicking at it, Laine moved herself up towards Ginny - hoping she could have some protection from her friend.

"Arania Exumai!" Laine heard Nicole shout at the spider. With a flash of light, it was gone. Breathing a slight sigh of relief, Laine focused back on the walk.

"How much longer?"
Laine cried, though her tears had ceased to exist. Despite being a Gryffindor, Laine didn't feel brave at the moment. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey would be ashamed of her! Wait, they already were ashamed of her. Every fiber of her magical being! Why would they want a witch in the family? Especially one as frumpy as Laine. The tears started pouring again. I'm just a drama queen...I don't deserve any of this. her thoughts rang bitterly. Being stuck in the woods could bring out the worst in people.

Take Ginny for example. After some particularly creepy howling, Laine's role model began steaming. Now, being basically as red as her hair - she looked worst than Laine felt. Plus, her hands were on fire and she was shooti-- WAIT? HER HANDS WERE ON FIRE!

"WHAT -- GINNY?!" Laine's screams joined Ginny, as Ginny shot the fire at the nearest tree. It quickly made its way up and soon the whole area was ablaze. No, no, no, no...this was not good! Laine's mind went a thousand ways, from the fire to WHAT GINNY JUST DID!! How the Hippogriff did she just set that tree on fire?! What was worst, the fact that the tree was breaking cleanly into two.

Ginny was just standing there, staring transfixed at the breaking tree. THE BREAKING TREE. What if said tree fell on Ginny?! WHAT IF I KILLED HER?

With an inhuman cry, Laine broke out of her own trance at once. Sprinting as fast as her curvy frame could go, Laine pushed Ginny to the side as hard as she could. The tree was falling still - Laine tried to leap out of the way, but tripped on a root. Her body crumpled towards the ground, and her right arm flailed out as she attempted to catch herself. With a sickening crunch, the tree landed on her arm. Causing a butterfly affect where Laine's head slammed against the trunk.

Immense pain filled every fiber of Laine. The last thing she thought before passing out was "Holy Crap, Ginny." Then the Forest went black.

For the first time in forever, Criselda Parkinson cried.

She wouldn't believe it if someone told her, not even Ginny, but the proof that fresh tear-grime-and-blood tracks were on her face woke her up to the reality that, indeed, she knew how to cry. She stifled her sobs as they made their unfruitful trek towards the castle, stumbling across creatures here and there. She wasn't even in the mood to talk to Ginny, and merely walked by her, glancing every now and then on her bleeding wound.

She felt like they were going in circles. She shrieked as they came across spiders twice and tripped a few times when some kind of violent root determined to set her off slithered its way around her ankle. She moaned, cried, tripped, slipped and screamed, but one ear-piercing noise stopped her dead on her tracks.

A noise that was coming from her bestfriend.

Criselda watched in horror as Ginny's hands was enveloped by fire, orange flames licking her skin. There wasn't a wand in her hands, but there was no way she could have done wandless magic. What surprised her even more was that she wasn't screaming in pain. She was, as everyone else, transfixed... Well, everyone except for Laine Bailey, who always seemed to be in control of her brain-and-tongue coordination.

She stood in her spot as she watched the flames shoot out from her palms, and hit a tree. She watched the flames lapped on the leaves, her eyes following the line that was starting to--

"LAINE! GINNY! WATCH OUT!!!"

She had already stepped out of the way when the tree started to give way, and she crossed her fingers for the other two that were on the other side. She closed her eyes as she heard the trunk fall on the forest floor, an echoing audible thump resonating through the forest. She opened her eyes slowly, and caught a glimpse of red hair. She sighed in relief. But wait? Where was--

"OhmyGod! Laine!" She rushed over to the two and found her under arm pinned under the trunk, and blood oozed from her head. "Mother of Merlin! What happened!? Reducto!" She pointed her wand on the trunk pinning Laine's arm.

"Get her out of there while I put out the fire!" She turned around and pointed her wand towards the burning trunk, her hands shaking. "A-Aguam-menti," Nothing came out. "Aguamenti!" A jet of water came out of her wand, and she tried as best as she could to at least put out the fire on the remaining parts of the knocked down trunk.

"Nikki, put out the tree, I'll help Ginny,"

Nicole burst into tears for the first time since the crash. She ran over to Laine, who lay unconscious under the split tree. She got down on her knees and lifted Laine's hand. It felt cold. "Laine? Laine? Oh, Laine, please. Wake up! please, please wake up!" Nicole cried. She had not known Laine for all that long, but she was a great friend. Plus, Nicole did not want anyone to have to die in the middle of the forbidden forest. It was just cruel. Nicole wiped the tears that were streaming down her face.

"Lo-Look what you've done to her!" Nicole hollered at Ginny. "You might have killed her! What are you playing at?" Nicole cried out, keeping to her friends side. Slowly, she looked towards the others, her cheeks glistening from the teardrops running down them. "Crissy, are you alright to walk?" Nicole asked, looking her from head to toe. Everyone looked battered and bruised. "Laney, could you give me a hand? We have to get Laine out of here and to the hospital wing as fast as we can. We don't know how serious this could be..." Nicole didn't even look towards Ginny. She didn't know what Ginny had done with her hands, but her rage had triggered it. Nicole figured that she needed to 'cool off' before it happened again. She just hoped that someone, anyone, would come to their rescue.

Seventh Year & Gryffindor Chaser. I love Dave. I AM THE SWAN QUEEEEEEEEN!

It was kind of pretty, actually--the fire. Ginny smiled peacefully, her mind not exactly registering that she was in danger. She was being hypnotized by the dancing flames.

"WHAT--GINNY?!"

Ginny heard Laine's cry, and she suddenly felt the girl hurtling into her. Her mind seemed suddenly clear and in focus, but before she could make sense of what was happening, she was hitting the ground hard. She pushed herself up onto her elbows, watching the burning tree fall to the ground. It crashed on Laine's arm, and Ginny was just trying to will herself to move, to penetrate through the mental block that had cropped up in her mind.

Luckily, Crissy's head was clear. She freed Laine's arm and put out the fire nearest to them, though several trees around were still burning. Ginny stumbled over to where everyone was gathered around the limp form, and she dropped to her knees. "Laine... are you okay?" No response. God, if she's dead...

Ginny was trying to feel for a pulse, but it was hard to count off seconds in her head with the screaming of the fire behind them. And it didn't help that Nicole was screaming at the top of her voice.

"Lo-look what you've done to her! You might have killed her! What are you playing at?" She seemed to be blaming this whole thing on Ginny, which set her off even more. Pointing fingers was the exact opposite of what they needed to be doing.

Ginny stood up and faced Nicole. "WHAT AM I PLAYING AT? You're fucking kidding me, right? Do you think I meant for this to happen? Why the hell would I ever want to hurt Laine? I didn't control it!" Her voice was hoarse from shouting, but she couldn't help it. She didn't mean for this to happen...

She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. She needed to keep her head now more than ever. "Okay. Melanie and Nicole should get Laine. I'll help Crissy, if she needs it. Come on, let's go this way." She pointed to a path that hadn't caught on fire. They might be retracing their steps a bit, but it was no good moving forward, unless they wanted to sit there casting Aguamenti for hours.

Her voice trembled a bit, partly because of anger and partly because of fear. She was still a bit shocked, too. What had she done? She was... dangerous. She couldn't trust herself to carry Laine. Not when this might happen again...
