Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

OOC: yes, as you could tell by the title, this is AFTER THE PARTY. just so we're clear, I'm posting in two places at once. kay? kay.

Kiran flopped down onto her bed once her transportation house elf had left the room, exhausted and thoroughly confused. Archie. She wanted Archie here with her, in the huge, lonely bedroom. She thought back to earlier, when he'd had his arms around her, and how her heart seemed to lift after losing everything weighing on it. How much she wanted to bury her face in his chest and hide herself from the world.

Yeah, she wanted him here. But she also didn't want to be anywhere near him. Not now, not ever. He loved Sierra. What would he even need Kiran around for? He didn't want her. He didn't feel the same way. She had to keep telling herself this over and over again. Because when she'd gone to the party tonight, she'd still had the fleeting hope that he would tell her that he was just kidding about dating Sierra, and he'd loved Kiran the entire time. But she was the one who had been kidding herself.

She spread out across her bed and let all her thoughts leak out of her. Everything in her brain spun out of her ears and floated away into the ceiling fan high above her. The tall, sloping ceiling seemed miles away. Kiran had always taken pride in her fancy, pureblood house, but for the first time in her memory, she wished her bedroom was small and cozy.

Suddenly, she felt trapped by all the empty air. It was freezing cold and pressing in on her; stifling her. Faster than she thought was possible, Kiran pushed herself off the bed and and out of her room. She ran down the long hallway, her bare feet slapping against the cold marble floor, her party dress billowing behind her like a sheet in the wind. She had run past the stairs, and she heard her mother shouting at something. Maybe at one of the house elves, or at someone who had come to see her... or maybe she was just shouting at herself.

Kiran wrenched open the door to the third flood stairs and kept running. The tight spirals seemed endless... but she finally reached her destination: another one of those pointless rooms full of fancy furniture. She hated this house at the moment--hated it more than she'd ever hated it before. It was too big and a little bit scary. At least it was warmer up here. Kiran curled up on the sofa and wrapped herself in a fluffy blanket.

Crying again. Stop crying, Kiran. What is it now? Nothing's even happening right now.

Makeup ran down her cheeks again. She was surprised that her face wasn't permanently stained from all the times she'd cried. Her sobs echoed in the empty room for a little while, until they slowly faded to silence. Kiran took a deep, rattling breath and closed her eyes, feeling like she was perched very delicately on her little soft spot--the eye of the storm.

It was still too quiet. The weight of it pressed against her ears, her face, her chest--every pore of her body. She felt too hot and made to throw the blanket off her, but she knew she'd be too cold if she did that. Then, without warning, Kiran grabbed a pillow, shoved her face into it, and screamed at the top of her lungs.

The muffled, high-pitched squeal made Kiran's ears twitch. Her vocal chords vibrated until she thought they were going to explode. She threw the pillow off her face. Her heart was pounding like she'd just run a marathon, but she felt a lot better.

She sat against the back of the sofa, numbness creeping into her heart and replacing some of the pain, leaving her with a hollow, intangible ache that settled itself in the pit of her stomach.

Kiran wanted to talk. Maybe. She didn't know what she wanted to talk about. She just wanted somebody to listen to her scream and cry about nothing, and to tell her she was right even when they had no idea what she was talking about. She wanted to tell someone about this empty feeling inside her--to make someone understand, then explain it to her... because she didn't understand, either.

The only person who could do all that was... She couldn't even think about him. She had enough to worry about. He'd left the party with Sierra. He was dating Sierra. He loved Sierra.

And Kiran was still thinking about him.

One of the smaller house elves--Kiran's favorite--slowly opened the door and poked her little head inside. "Is Miss Kiriantra all right? Tally has heard screaming, ma'am."

Kiran turned her head around to look at the little elf, wringing her tea towel in her hands. "I'm fine, Tally, thanks." She smiled, but the elf seemed very reluctant to take that answer.

"Can Tally do anything for Miss Kiriantra?"

"You can call me Kiran; that's a start," she snapped, regretting her tone almost the instant the words had left her mouth.

Tally didn't even flinch. She was used to Kiran's mood swings and irrational behavior. Ariane acted the exact same way. A wave of guilt washed over her. No one deserved to be treated like Ariane treated Kiran.

"Listen, I'm sorry, Tally. If you could make me some tea, that would be great. Thanks."

At this point, she would have been happy to talk to her elf. They could sit there and have long talks about life and people and problems and happiness and everything that was wrong with the word.

This was pathetic. Tally was a house elf. Kiran really needed some true, human friends. People who cared about the same stuff that she did. Again, only one person came to mind.

He had family problems too. Neither of them really liked to talk about it, but they both understood what "nothing's wrong" really meant. Sometimes she just wanted to rush off to where he was and shout out every single memory she'd ever had, good and bad. She wanted him to know everything about her. To eliminate all the secrets and "nothing's wrong" in their relationsh--

They had no relationship. This awkward thing they had going on now... it wasn't a relationship. It was a nightmare. But she still wished she could tell him everything, so he could really know who she was. She just needed someone to understand why she was so crazy all the time.

Tally brought Kiran's tea into the room and quietly bowed her way out. Kiran barely got the chance to say thank you.

She looked into the teacup at the murky brown color. It looked really mysterious--dark and cloudy and easily misunderstood. In fact, some people might shy away from it because of its brooding appearance. But Kiran knew that it was really sweet. There was a splash of lemon that made it tangy and interesting. Though it could be a little bitter sometimes, at the end of the day, it was perfect. It woke her up in the morning and always made her feel better when she was upset. It was warm and nice and...

Kiran loved it. She really loved tea. And not just as a friend. She was in love with him--err, it.

She sighed as she put her empty mug on the table next to her. The party hadn't gone the way she wanted tonight, but really, what had she been expecting?

She was too afraid to answer that question.

The next morning, Kiran woke up around ten. Her hair was a mess; it had been getting progressively worse since it fell out at the party. She pretty much looked awful but it didn't matter. Normally she liked to clean herself up before breakfast, but no one was there to see--

Kiran stopped on the third step. Her mother was... LAUGHING? Then she heard a deeper chuckle join in, along with a throaty cackle. Her brothers were here.

They haven't seen me in months. I can't look like this. I have to go take a shower, get dressed. I need to...

"Hey, Kiran! Get down here, little sis, we know you're there!"

Shit.

Kiran walked down slowly, combing her fingers through her hair, checking her face for makeup tracks, and straightening out her pajamas. The hallway mirror informed her that she didn't look like she'd just got run over by a truck, at least.

Evan and Troy hopped off their seats and ran towards her, as her mother left through the other exit. She rolled her eyes, crossed her arms, and leaned up against the door frame.

"Hey Kiki," Troy said, using the nickname she hated even more than her full name, if that was possible.

"Hmm, you look really thin," Evan said, giving her a once-over. "Have you lost weight?"

Kiran's face went red, and her lips pressed tightly together. She knew what they were doing. It was just like when she was younger. They used to make fun of her by saying the exact same thing.

"Oh, Kiki, you look sooo good today. You look like you've lost a lot of weight."

"Nice and skinny, that's what you are. All the girls must want bodies like yours."

"That shirt makes you look awesome, Kiran...

NOT!"

She turned on her heel, away from her asshole brother. As she poured herself some orange juice, Evan and Troy just glanced at each other with raised eyebrows. Let them make fun of me. See if I care. I'm not eight years old anymore. They can't affect me. She drank her juice and glared at them over the glass, when they couldn't see her.

"Kiran, honestly." She felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and jumped, almost spilling the contents of her cup. "We were being serious. We're worried about you. Really, you look kind of sick. Are you okay?"

She didn't say anything, just glared out the window with tears pooling in her eyes. Again.

"Is it mom, Kiran? It's hard living with her; we know. That's why we moved out right after this whole Dad thing happened." Troy's feeble attempt at a joke did nothing to lighten her mood. She felt like a selfish, immature little kid. But she couldn't help it. She didn't want to talk about any of this stuff. At least not with these two buffoons.

Kiran stormed over to the sink and rinsed her glass out. "It's nothing," she said loudly--with her back turned to them and the water running, it was hard to hear. "I'm upset about school stuff. Just boy problems. That's all." No, it wasn't. Not by a long shot.

But she was done talking about it.

OOC: This was the day after the party, Rinaldo's initiation and Carmen's visit.

Hair windswept and eyes wild, Archie appeared outside the Casa with his mother via Side-Along Apparition. He nearly toppled over as his knees gave way; luckily his mother was able to catch him before he fell face down. His stomach turned violently, and all he could do was turn around and hurl a fountain of vomit on the grass.

"Archie! Oh, Archie, sweetheart... Are you okay?" His mother asked anxiously, her voice dripping with concern as she cleaned her son up.

"Y-yes... Just... The nerves, mother..."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes... Please, just go... Father will wake up soon. Kiss Tansey and Thad for me,"

With tears flowing freely down her cheeks, Ursula got up and kissed her son's cheek. "I will, sweetheart. You take care, okay?" and disapparated.

Archie turned his head towards his destination, and attempted to groom himself before knocking twice on the door. A house elf he knew too well opened the door, a look of surprise on her golfball-sized eyes.

"What is Mr. Archibald doing visiting Miss Kiriantra this early, Tally wonders?"

"Hey Tally. Is Kiran awake? I-I... I need to talk to her,"

"Tally doesn't know... Tally sees Miss Kiriantra cry last night. Miss Kiriantra is very sad, very sad indeed..."

"Listen, Tally. Go get Kiran, but don't let the others hear it, okay? Tell her to go to her room, I'll be waiting there," He sped off towards Kiran's room and closed the door behind him, panting.

How was he going to say all of this? How was he going to start? He paced nervously, his eyes wild and hands clenched in his pockets, glancing at the door frantically.

Kiran was just beginning to calm down.

The hot shower had done wonders for the tension in her back, and neck... and everywhere else. She still wasn't completely okay, but at least she was clean.

She wrapped a towel around herself and used another to dry her hair. When it was damp and curly, she dropped the towel onto the floor and walked back into her bedroom.

She was about to release her other towel so she could get dressed, when she realized that she wasn't the only one in her room.

"Archie, OH MY GOD!" she shrieked, holding her towel tighter.

The door burst open and Tally stumbled in, looking out of breath. "Miss... Miss Kiriantra... Sir Archibald... he's here, coming to your room--" The elf clutched at a stitch in her side.

"Yes, yes, thank you, Tally." Kiran's heart was still beating ferociously, from the surprise of having him in her bedroom. What was he doing here? He'd said he wanted to talk, and she'd said he could come over, but she'd thought it was an obsolete request after he told Sierra he loved her...

And he could have at least let her know first.

Kiran took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. Calm. Be calm. Don't bite his head off... yet. "I'll be right back, Archie. I'm going to get dressed. Just... sit down. I dunno." She grabbed the clothes she'd worn the previous night, before the party, and changed in the bathroom.

"So, err... What's up?" she asked, sitting on the bed next to him.

"KIRAN! OH SH--" He brought his hand to his eyes and turned around, going red. What a convenient time to come, Archie, perfect. He could swear he didn't see anything, but he wondered if Kiran would believe him. Leighton didn't. Joel didn't. Alexa didn't. Sierra didn't... Why would Kiran be an exemption?

Because they love each other.

They loved each other from the start and through and through, though they both tried to deny it. They loved each other even after Valentine's day and they knew it. They loved each enough to let the other go.

"Er-Er... Oh, er... Hey, Ki," He said to the wall, not wanting to turn around. "Oh my God... This is... This is just..." He stuttered to himself, not hearing what she had just said. He turned around to see if she was still there, but she had gone to change. Good. He sighed, relieved.

She emerged from somewhere, in clothes. Archie sighed again when she sat next to him. "You have to help me, Ki... I... I don't know what to do," His face was paler than usual, and his eyes bloodshot. It was evident that he didn't get decent rest the other night. He sported a bruise near his right temple, and his bottom lip was cut.

He held her hands in his tightly.

Upon closer inspection, Archie looked like he'd gotten in a bar fight... or something more sinister. What had happened after she'd left the party? Her first thought was that perhaps Leighton had gotten hold of him, but he really looked... bad. Leighton couldn't have done this.

She returned the pressure to his hands, feeling nervous. It was more than just the little butterflies in her stomach. The nerves were pressing against her and making her whole body tremble. She had to relax, to calm down. She had to...

She reached up and kissed him on the cheek. It was okay. He was right here; he was fine. She tried to stop her hands from shaking, but to no avail.

"Archie, shh, it's okay. I'm right here." Her thumbs made slow, soothing circles on his hands, and her voice was low. "It's fine. You're gonna be fine. Just tell me what happened. Who did this to you?"

She wanted to know. Because she was going to Crucio them into next week.

She kissed his cheek.

For one fleeting moment, he felt alive. He felt at ease. His cheek tingled and all he could do was bring his hand to it, touching the part her lips had just left. He closed his eyes and pulled himself together. He cleared his throat.

"When I got home yesterday, I was... I was... attacked. I don't know who did it... I heard a female voice before I lost consciousness... Next thing I knew, I was in a closet, and I couldn't talk," He shivered, his eyes sharp and fearful. "I shouted... I tried to move my body... But it was bound... Father... H-he... Th-they used me... Used my wand, forced me..." He mumbled more to himself. He didn't bother to make sense, he was too scared. What would he say anyway, that his father was now a Knight? That he had been witness to his initiation?

He forced the lump down his throat and wrapped his arms tightly around her, burying his head in her hair.

Kiran was scared. For a moment, she forgot about everything, and all the space in her heart was taken up with fear for Archie. It sounded like he had been kidnapped or something... he was stuttering a bit too much for Kiran to understand exactly what had happened.

She hugged him back, not knowing, not caring, but wanting to be close to him. Glad he wasn't seriously injured. She wanted to let him know it was okay... it was all okay.

But it didn't sound like it was okay.

"Archie, Archie. Your dad--what happened with your dad? You don't know who it was? What did they force you to do?"

Kiran supposed she should keep her voice soothing and calm. But it was speeding up, growing more anxious. She couldn't help it. She had to know that he wasn't in danger again, or she wouldn't be able to stop worrying.

"Father's... Father's fine," The last word came out as a loud hiss, and clenched his jaw together. "In fact he's... He's never been better,"

"I recognize her face, but I couldn't place where I've seen her... Father looked like he knew her all too well..."
Goosebumps trailed his arm and neck as incidents of yesterday replayed in his mind. He held her closer for support.

He shook his head in her hair. He was ready to tell her, but he wasn't sure how. He was ready to answer, but he wasn't sure what to say. So he just shook his head, the thought of never having to let her go comforting him. No one was there to judge; no one to send them stares. No Leighton, no Sierra, no everyone.

Just Kiran and Archie.

Kiran's brain zoomed into overdrive. What could possibly have happened to freak him out so much? He'd gotten home from the party and... and... and... She tried to piece together what he'd told her. But she was drawing a blank. She wished she could say something useful and intelligent and helpful... something that would instantly make him feel better.

But all she could do was hug him. And hope that he received all those comforting thoughts that weren't manifesting themselves in her brain.

"Archie... Archie, Archie, oh Archie... That's scary. That's just really scary."

She hugged him like he was the only thing keeping her from drowning. It was all she could do. She only hoped he could feel how much she loved him, and that it would help... even a little bit.

"Please, Arch, please." Tears were shining in her eyes as she looked up at him, her hazel meeting his brown. Her heart skipped a beat and she maintained eye contact. "Could you please tell me what happened? I'm really worried about you." Her voice trembled, but she willed herself not to cry. She couldn't cry. Not when he needed her.

She kissed his cheek again and rubbed his back, trying to calm him down. "Just talk slow. Start with what happened after you left the party. It's all right. You can tell me. I promise."

Please tell me. I love you.

Once again, he found himself lost in her eyes. The hazel eyes bore into his, and he stared back, transfixed. He was lost, but he didn't care, and let himself be put in a trance.

He caught her lips with his just as she was kissing his cheek. He let the kiss linger for a while, letting it fill his heart and give him strength. When he felt his heart pump steadily, he pulled away, slowly and unwillingly, but kept his hands clasped on hers. He took a deep breath.

"Remember last summer? When father made you go home early?" He started, lacing his fingers through hers. "We didn't what was up with him... But he was preparing himself then. He has always been rude, don't get me wrong, but there was something wrong about it..." He looked at the wall behind her. "He was edgy, and his non-existent patience shortened... H-he... started to hurt... to hurt mother more," He whispered, tears springing into his eyes.

"You must promise me not to tell anyone what I'm about to tell you, Ki," He looked into her eyes and pleaded, half of his mind shutting off.

Wait a second. What was happening?

He kissed her, slowly and gently. And she just... let it happen. She didn't just let it happen. She kissed him back. She pulled herself closer to him and kissed him back.

No! Stop it! He has a girlfriend! Wait... what's her name again? Serena? No! Sierra! One of your best friends, Kiran. Stop. You stop it now, or I swear I'll--

Why was she doing this to herself?

Because she loved him.

She loved kissing him, and she loved being close to him, and she loved talking to him and she just loved everything about him. She loved holding his hand and the way he laughed and even just the sound of his voice.

He started to pull away, and though Kiran knew it was the right thing to do, she let her lips linger for as long as she could. She didn't want him to stop...

Kiran couldn't help but smile. Just a tiny, little smile. She knew that they were having a serious conversation. But he'd kissed her. Maybe he did love Sierra, but obviously a little part of him still had feelings for Kiran, too.

She pulled herself back together, despite feeling like she was floating six feet off the ground. Archie needed her. She listened to what he was saying, until his words made her breath catch.

"H-he... started to hurt... to hurt mother more..."

Where had Kiran heard this before? She felt lightheaded. He'd never told her... but then, she'd never told him, either. Before she could stop herself, she kissed his hand. She just couldn't find the words to tell him that she knew what he was going through.

"Archie... I didn't know... no idea. I understand. Believe me; I know what it's like. And I won't tell anyone, ever. Not this or what you're about to tell me."

She looked down at their interlaced fingers. He trusted her. And he needed her.

Archie half-expected Kiran to give him a good punch in the face. His stomach tensed, waiting for the blow. But somehow, it didn't come. It didn't come. He looked at her hands. They were around him. Not clawed, not balled in fists, but just around him; clutching him. She was holding him, too.

Then she smiled.

It didn't take much for a smile to creep up Archie's face. Subconsciously, he felt his lips pull up into a grin that matched hers. But as soon as he saw the familiar twinkle in her eyes, he was brought back to reality. He must be dreaming. She made it clear that Valentine's Day that she didn't want him. What was he doing?

He was explaining himself.

He took a deep breath. "Father... Father's..." He struggled, trying to find better words to explain the situation. Running out of options, he took another deep breath and closed his eyes. "A Knight..."

"Hang on. What do you mean, your father's a Knight?" Kiran's eyes darted back and forth, as if expecting Rinaldo Emory to burst through her window and...

She shook the thought out of her head. That couldn't be true... could it? She closed her eyes for a moment and held onto his hands. "Archie, are you sure you... heard correctly? I mean, you're father's a jerk, no doubt about it... but do you really think he's a...?" She trailed off, too shocked to continue.

Archie was a good guy. His mom was the sweetest thing. His dad... wasn't exactly a lovely man, but the world wasn't separated into good people and Knights.

"Are you really sure? How do you know?"

"I'm sure, Ki..." He took a deep breath. "I saw it with my own two eyes. Not a moment's hesitation... He was sure of it. He was even ready to risk me for it,"

"I was hidden in a closet, right? I lost consciousness... A hard slap woke me, and I saw them towering over me... I-I... I was scared, Ki... The woman was chuckling as my father forced me to stand up... My knees were shaking... I-I..."
His voice shook and he tried to suppress a sob. He held on to her hands, and flicked his wild eyes to stare into hers. Her hazel eyes. His strength.

"I couldn't do it, Ki... I couldn't be a part of it. I tried to fight back, to keep my wand pinned to my side... But he forced me... Th-they... performed an Unbreakable Vow... My wand was shaking violently, and I could see the spell binding them... I had no control..." He trailed off, his eyes turning glassy. He stared into her eyes, but it was as if he was seeing something else. The memory ate on his heart, twisting his stomach as it crushed him. He was shaking then, but all he could do was hold her hand.

Kiran felt anger boiling and churning in the pit of her stomach. Who the hell would want to hurt Archie? What had he ever done to them? Just imagining him lying on the ground, writhing in pain... Maybe they'd used the Cruciatus Curse. They'd obviously beaten him up...

It was like in her dream, where he just dropped dead like--

Before she could tell herself to stop thinking like that, there were tears leaking out of her eyes and pouring down her cheeks.

"I-I can't believe they did that to you--that they made you do that. It's just awful. Your dad... a Knight... I can't believe..."

She looked into his brown eyes, which were also watering. She hated seeing him like this--it made her heart hurt.

Kiran reached up to brush his hair out of his eyes. She wanted to keep looking at him... letting him know that she was there. She was real, solid. She wasn't going to leave. It was all she could do.

She straightened up, an angry fire igniting inside her eyes. "So, what are we gonna do? If we can do anything..." She had to help him make it better. She couldn't stand seeing him cry. It wasn't right.

A million questions about this whole thing were running through her head, but she felt that most of them were a bit tactless for her to voice, especially at a time like this.

She held his hands, knowing that he needed this for support. He needed her, and not anyone else. It was the only reason she wasn't giving him hell for what had happened at the party.

Well, that... and she just couldn't stay mad at him.

"To tell you the truth... I was kind of expecting this," He sighed deeply, his eyebrows furrowing. "I mean, what way will he go? A miracle couldn't have happened and made him believe in love, friendship and all those shit, right?"

He closed his eyes when he felt her hands run through his hair and brush across his forehead. He opened them slowly, wishing like a child to still see her there, wishing that this was all true. And it was. When his eyes met hers, he knew it. He was home.

It took him a while before he could answer. What would they do? What would he do? What does he want to do? Will he do something? Could he do anything? All of these questions and a million more whizzed through his head at a dizzying pace, preoccupying him. "I-I... I don't know..." He said finally, after a hundred and one breaths.

Kiran shook her head. "But still... a Knight? Seems a little extreme, if you ask me. What's he gonna... does your mother know?" She whispered the last four words. How poor Ursula would take it if she found out... Or maybe she already knew. Maybe she, like Archie, had been expecting it. Kiran had to admit, it had crossed her mind, but only once or twice, when she'd first met Rinaldo. But she was twelve years old then, and later she thought she was being ridiculous. After all, he reminds me of Dad, she'd told herself. And Kiran's dad wasn't evil... she didn't think so...

No, Kiran, he wasn't evil. He was just... shut up. We're not even talking about you, here.

She kept making slow, soothing circles on his hand while he breathed heavily. She waited for him to calm down. "Please, please, calm down, Archie. Please relax. It's not your fault that this happened. No one is going to hurt you here. You're safe." She'd meant to think it, but once again, her brain had floated out of her body and acted for her. But it was okay, because he needed to hear the relaxed, rhythmical tone of her voice, even if her words sounded incoherent.

This next sentence came out of her mouth before she had time to think about it. "If you ever need a place to stay... like, you can't be at home or whatever, you know you can always come here." Was that something that just a friend would say--?

Who gives a damn? He needs to know he has a place to run to. I can't just make him look at his father all the time and know he's evil.

Sierra didn't have to know. Joel didn't have to know. Leighton didn't have to know. She squeezed his hand and smiled a genuine smile, letting all her irrational fears float away.

"Father doesn't know the word extreme," He said through his teeth. Her next words made his heart stop beating. Does she know? "I... honestly don't have an idea," He admitted, his face set into a frown. "If she doesn't, I don't think I'd want her to know. She's in enough stress as it is..."

And he just sat there. He zoned out again, and it took him a while to collect his thoughts. When he thinks he finally hears her again, he gets distracted. His mother. Constance. Thaddeus. His family. His only family. As of that day, he had no father.

Safe... I'm safe... I'm safe he-- HOW ABOUT MOTHER, AND THADDEUS, AND CONSTANCE? Are they safe? Are they-- "I-I'm safe... Mother... Constance... Thaddeus..." He mumbled under his breath subconciously as Kiran comforted him, his eyes unblinking and blank.

"I'm sorry?" Archie felt his attention pull back like a rubber band, completely focusing on Kiran now. "You were saying about..." His eyes shifted confusedly, and hugged her again by impulse. His breathing became ragged as his mind became uncomfortably numb, and he closed his eyes.

"D-don't leave me... Please don't..."

Kiran wanted to kick herself. How could she have forgotten about Archie's siblings? Maybe it was because she herself was the youngest, and she always expected not to have to take care of anyone. But Archie had a great deal of responsibility on his shoulders.

"Archie... I really think your mom should take Thad and Tansey somewhere... away from your father. Who knows what will happen when you're at Hogwarts next year?" She didn't want to put a worry in his mind, but he'd probably been thinking it anyway.

She shook her head as he held her close again. "Archie, for the last time, I'm not going to leave you. I... I love you." She held her breath and closed her eyes. What had just come out of her mouth? It was completely unrelated to the conversation they were having, and just all-around inappropriate. But she couldn't stop herself.
