| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Kayden entered the Carmicheal Cottage through their fireplace and ended up not being so dirty. She expected to see the grandparent's of her best friend but realized that it was summer and they were probably off enjoying the estate rather than this little bungalow in the mountains. Kayden loved it up here. It's always the perfect weather for her and the surroundings are just what she wanted. She knew that she wasn't going to be alone for long seeing as her oldest friend would know when someone was in the house, especially when it's Kayden. Moving through the house, Kayden made her way to the kitchen and grabbed herself a small, square glass. She filled it with ice and looked to find the nearest liquor cabinet. Luckily, Tinsley's grandparents did not practice sobriety for they always got their drink on. Like grandparents like granddaughter, Kayden thought to herself. Passing the nearest mirror, Kayden paused and looked at herself. Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she wiped the black from underneath and surprisingly looked decent. She smiled the same crooked smile as her father and looked at the three slash marks going from each side of her face. The smile quickly faded and she spoke to herself, "I really need to fix this ASAP." Walking away from the mirror, Kayden opened the front door and took a seat on the wooden little porch. She sat in a rocking chair and sipped on her Firewhiskey awaiting Tinsley or someone's arrival. |

Tinsley's father's voice was heard echoing around the cottage as he entered through the back door with Cadelle, Tinsley's grandmother, on his heels. "We've lost Alastar, we don't need to be losing our little girl too, you know," snapped Tinsley's father, his brow furrowed. He sighed, the wrinkles of a man twice his age etched across his face. "I'm telling you, I don't know what she's been doing at school, she hasn't written to me for months now. And none of her brothers, either. They say they haven't heard a thing." Tinsley's maid, nurse, and mother figure Dorothy stumbled into the cottage via the fireplace, shrieking. "I've heard news! Someone saw her.. in The Three Broomsticks.." Dorothy explained a story of body bags, a vacant-eyed young girl and Ian de Pointe du Lac. Tinsley's father, stony faced, filled a glass to the brim with firewhiskey and took a sip, feeling the fire roar through his body. "Oh, dear," mumbled Tinsley's grandmother, frowning. Her dyed auburn hair was growing gray before their eyes. "Wait," paused Tinsley's father. "Do you hear that?" He rushed through the house with his wand at the ready. He rushed to the front door and pushed it open, spotting Kayden Slayer on his doorstep. "Kayden?" He was clearly surprised. "T-Tinsley's not home yet... what are you doing here?" |

Kayden hadn't seen Nathaniel Carmicheal in a very long time and she knew she had to be prepared for questioning. Turning her head slowly so that Nathaniel could see her face, Kayden half-smiled to try and distract him from the ugly marks that her father gave her just moments before. "Hi, Mr. Carmicheal," she spoke softly, "I, I'm sorry, but I had no other choice," she cracked, "I had nowhere else to run to." She wondered for a moment in her mind what the three of them were doing at home. Those rats, she thought, they aren't my family. Kayden put her glass down on the floor beneath her feet and got up from the rocking chair. Standing in front of him, the light was hitting her face. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath she said, "I can leave if you would like. I didn't think you were going to be busy." Kayden motioned to move past him. |

Tinsley's father gasped, a mingled look of horror etched across his face. His voice echoed and thundered when he spoke sharply, so much so that Tinsley's sweet-natured grandmother rushed to the front porch anxiously. "Who did this to you, Kayden? Of course you can stay. We're waiting on news about Tinsley. Please--Mother?" Though Cadelle wasn't his mother, they were a close-knit family, and he addressed her like his own. He, himself, was never close with his mother. "Can you make our guest some tea?" "Yes, of course," frowned Tinsley's grandmother, gently patting Kayden's arm. "I'll be right with you." She hurried off towards the kitchen, her lanky frame limp with stress. Dorothy sat in the corner, covered with shadows. "I shall check on Angeline," she said, apparating from the cottage and heading toward the Carmicheal's Estate with a pop. "What happened to your face, Kayden?" asked Mr. Carmicheal, leading her to a comfortable seat. Tinsley's grandmother could be heard removing a screaming tea kettle. Oh, silly Muggles. "What drove you here?" Tinsley's grandmother wandered in, her hands shaking as she carried out her porcelain teacups. Handing one to Tinsley's father, and Kayden, she dropped a sugar cube in her own and peered at Kayden's scars over the rim of her cup. "So much bad news for one night," she said shakily. |

As Kayden took a sip of the warm tea, she closed her eyes and enjoyed the aromas. Clearing her throat, Kayden looked around and brought her eyes back to Nathaniel and said, "Who did what?" As much as Kayden wanted to kill her parents right now, she had to protect their society. There were other people involved that couldn't get in trouble even though she so wished they would just die. Twiddling with her fingers a little bit avoiding making eye contact with Mr. Carmicheal, Kayden was thinking of ways to change the subject. |

"Your face, Kayden," said Mr. Carmicheal, sounding shocked. "What else? You've come here on a whim, perhaps, looking frail and.. to be frank, I've never seen marks like on you before. Though we haven't spoken in some time. What happened?" |

Kayden took another sip to avoid looking suspicious. Popping up she spat out, "Oh! My face!" she said nodding her head. "My face.. that's right," trailing off trying to think of something slick and quick. "You see, my brother Kolton, he has this cat, right? And I was messing with it the other night and let me tell you, that THING is a demon! I mean it just wouldn't leave me alone. So I tried to back away slowly but it just came after me!" Opening her eyes and fake-smiling at Mr. Carmicheal, Kayden sincerely hoped he believed it. Awkward silence filled and Kayden nodded her head some more and said, "Yep.. my ass." |

"With no tan lines," nodded Mr. Carmicheal knowingly. "Oh, dear," sighed Tinsley's grandmother. It appeared that Mr. Carmicheal accepted Kayden's explanation, but Cadelle wasn't so sure. She felt faint at the thought of magic that could create wounds like those, and, frightened, she busied herself in the kitchen. "So what brought you here?" questioned Mr. Carmicheal. "Tinsley's, umm.. well, she hasn't shown yet. Do you know anything?" |

Feeling normal again, Kayden made eye contact with Nathaniel and shook her head softly. "Unfortunately, I don't know anything. I had been hoping she would've been here or sensed that I was here," she said actually wondering where Tinsley was. I'm sure she's up to no good, but the no good that we can get away with, Kayden thought to herself. "Will you excuse me for a moment?" Kayden asked politely standing up, "I need to use the wash room." When she got the nod of approval, she slipped into the tiny little wash room where everything seemed to be made out of dark wood. Sitting down on the bench, she stared at the wood, hard and noticed something start to move. When the smile ran across her face, Kaleb slithered from the wood and onto her arm. Kayden giggled as Kaleb slithered up her bare arm and licked her soft cheek. "I missed you pal," she said in parseltongue. "But I need a favor from you," she said once again. Looking down at his beety eyes, Kayden spoke again, "Kaleb, go find Tinsley and return here at once with information on what she is doing." Kaleb nodded his long snake head and licked her cheek once more. Kayden smiled and watched him slither out the window. Just as he did that, Kayden returned to Nathaniel Carmicheal and sat across from him again and smirked. Edited by Kayden Slayer, Aug 17 2010, 04:00:32 PM.

There were a number of things that could happen in the coming moments, all of which Callista Carmicheal had planned for. Her wand was in the pocket of her low-slung black jeans, the thin handle peaking out just slightly so that she may grab it quickly. How she found the Carmicheals' wasn't that difficult: the name carried a certain weight amongst wizards, and even Callie, all the way in Paris, knew how notorious her surname was. Callie's mind was buzzing with questions so heavy she almost felt something. Did her father look like her? Did she have siblings? Who was he, even? All of her life, Callie had been fed lies about her true identity. She was a mere shadow of herself, living a lie. And for someone as rigid as Callista, that was more infuriating than anything. Walking up to the front door of the cottage, Callie replayed memories in her mind. Her mother's arms. The orphanage. Why, it almost made her sad. Which was why she was so pissed when she magicked open the front door and sing-songed loudly, her raspy voice bouncing off the walls as a Howler which she sent in exploded. "Daddy," it called. "I'm home." Edited by Tinsley Carmicheal, Aug 18 2010, 12:28:56 AM.

Tinsley's trunk landed with a thunk out of the fireplace before the she slipped in after it. She had expected to see her her grandmother, arms outstretched and ready with lunch, but instead her eyes fell upon... "Kayden?" shrieked Tinsley, rushing forward to hug her. "What are you doing here? And Daddy?" Mr. Carmicheal reached out for Tinsley and hugged her, inhaling the sweet, flowery scent of Tinsley's shampoo. The couple stood as Tinsley's grandmother walked in, shrieking pleasantly and fawning over Tinsley in only a way grandmother's could do. "Too thin!" she kept repeating. "I'm fine, I'm fine," sighed Tinsley. "I just... I have so much to tell you guys, it's ridicu--" That's when Tinsley heard her. "Daddy?" he smirked, arching an eyebrow, as the Howler smoked. "Did a bit of research. So, which one of you is dear old Bartie? You see, does the name Sophie Compton ring a bell? No? Well. You see, fifteen years ago, that name rung a bell for Bartholomew Carmicheal. It rang quite a few bells, if you know what I mean... and here I am! So when can I meet Daddy dearest?" The howler shriveled up, still smoking, and fell silent. Edited by Tinsley Carmicheal, Aug 18 2010, 12:30:26 AM.

Tinsley grabbed onto Kayden's wrist, her face distorted with stress and anxiety. She pulled Kayden close and ran to her bedroom, where she sat on the edge of her bed. She could still hear her father yelling from the next room. Silence fell. Tinsley was shaking. She looked at Kayden and had no words. Who was that girl, and why would she have bothered to find them if she was not telling the truth? Had Bartholomew really kept such a secret from his family? Tinsley's head was beginning to ache dangerously again. "Girls?" Tinsley's father entered his bedroom, cheeks red and sweaty. "I don't know who that was, or why whoever it was felt the need to burst into our home like that. It was ridiculous... His voice trailed off. "I'll be speaking to your brother this evening. This family does not keep secrets, do you understand me?" When he left, Tinsley buried her face in her pillow. "Oh, Kayden, he doesn't know a thing. We're all keeping secrets from him. Me, the boys..." She sighed, sad. "Ian better get here soon before I lose my mind." Edited by Tinsley Carmicheal, Aug 18 2010, 12:31:03 AM.

Ian and Jacques entered the house.Ian could get past the protections since he'd been living there over the summer, of course, now, he'd be going back to France. He was here mainly to fetch his mother and his things, and to visit with Tinsley, of course. Immediately, Ian was seized upon and fussed over by Tinsley's grandmother as much as if he were part of the family. Her brothers were as rough with him in their greetings (and as lewd with him in their questions) as if he were one of the brothers himself (which Ian actually enjoyed, they were certainly better brothers than Alphonse had ever been, which made him feel a little guilty that he'd been snuggling up with their sister just yesterday). Tinsley's father was absent, however. And, in the end, there was something forced about the way the Carmicheal's greeted him. As if they were all trying to pretend something didn't happen. When Ian was finally allowed to extricate himself from grandmother Madison's fussing and the boys' rough housing, he finally got free to ask where Tinsley was. Best of all, Jacques would fetch Angeline and explain everything, Ian could go and visit with Tins. Ian took a breath before knocking on the door to her room. |

Tinsley's heart dropped when she heard a knocking at her door and she slipped off of her bed. She glanced at Kayden and sighed. "I swear, if it's news that some other brother of mine has been hiding a kid for the last fifteen years--" Tins swung open her door forcefully with a sour look on her face, though it faded as soon as she saw who was on the other side of the door. "Ian!" Her frown stretched into a beaming smile as she stood on the tips of her toes to kiss his cheek. "I almost forgot that you were going to be coming." She dragged him into her room by the hand, where Kayden was hanging out. Tinsley suddenly became aware of several things at once: how she wanted to be alone with Ian, and how girlish her room was. Besides the Slytherin everything adorning her walls, from banners to dark curtains to a sea green bedspread, the entire room smelled like... well, a girl. There were flowers on her dresser and her closet was open, full of a rainbow assortment of clothes. But Tinsley was too tired to care. She glanced towards Kayden. "Ian's just getting his things." Tinsley turned towards Ian, her brow furrowed. "Can't you just stay? Take me with you? I can't stand being here in this house anymore." |

His cheek tingled where she kissed him.He saw Kayden when he was dragged inside. He was surprised to see her, seeing as he hadn't seen her for at least half a year. "Can't you just stay? Take me with you? I can't stand being here in this house anymore." Damn. He wished he had a better answer for her. It was tempting. "I can't," he said, letting his hand linger on her arm, not caring if Kayden saw, "I've got a lot of stuff to take care off. Running an estate takes a lot of time." Not to mention occlumency lessons with the Headmistress, who was now living at the chateau. She was staying there, partly because of Ian needed to learn to guard his mind to keep Alphonse from getting in (which the man, who was now in Azkaban, had not yet tried again) and gaining access to the gateway in his head to the origin of all life's energy for his master that will...do something with it. Moody was there, too, and he wasn't sure that Moody would approve of bringing Tinsley. He'd probably consider her some kind of danger to security. But damn it all if it wasn't Ian's house. Still... "You know, coming to my house, though," he said, "Its really big an empty"--'empty' being a major lie--"and I've got a of work to do. Parts of the place were burned down by Belladonna and we're working on rebuilding. And I'm sure your dad and brothers would like me asking if you can come, alone, to a house owned by me, with no parental supervision whatsoever. And don't say Angeline, because she's lived here long enough for your entire family to know that she doesn't count. I love your brothers, I don't want them to make me wear my ass for a hat." There was one thing he wanted to ask her, though. Just once, and soon, he'd like to do what normal couples did. They'd done it once before, technically, but he wanted to do it without the urgency or the hopelessness that was attached to it the first time. He wanted to really enjoy it for once, but he didn't know how to go about it. He looked around, embarrassed that he might have been staring at her eyes too long, and aware that Kayden was in the room. The room smelled nice. It smelled like Tinsley. Kayden was still there. "Hey Kay--" he'd just noticed the marks on her face, "What the hell happened to you?" Edited by Ian de Pointe du Lac, Aug 18 2010, 01:56:18 AM.

That wasn't the answer that Tinsley had wanted to hear. She gazed into Ian's eyes, trying to somehow convince him that she was worth the stress. She imagined it. She'd help Angeline with... with... whatever she did during the day, while Ian was off working, or... Tinsley's heart was aching just thinking about it. How was it possible to be able to want something so badly, but not be able to grasp it? Suddenly, the summer looked longer and more abysmal than ever. Frustrated, Tinsley pulled away from Ian. Leaving his comfortable touch just made things worse. As Tinsley crossed her bedroom quickly, hiding her tear-strewn face in her closet as she pretended to look for a sweater, she overheard Ian talking to Kayden. "She told my dad a cat did it, but she's full of shit!" called Tinsley, her voice muffled in the closet. "You're all full of shit!" |

"Wait, Tinsley!" said Ian. The look in her eyes. It was desperate. Her tone seemed aimed at him, not Kayden, when she said "you're all full of shit." "Tinsley," he said. He looked back at Kayden, apologetically, before sprinting towards the closet, "Of course you can come. I'll work it out. Well, I don't know what we'll say to your dad and brothers, but...I want you around if possible, okay?" He'd get a chewing out from Moody, but he couldn't imagine trying to go through all this bullshit if he didn't have something to make it worth it. Suddenly, Kayden's presence didn't matter. He put his hands on her shoulders from behind. "Now I'm asking you to come with me if you can," he said, "If you're not happy here, I'm not doing what I promised if I didn't." |

Tinsley shrugged Ian's arms off of her, and she started throwing things out of her closet onto the floor. "Happy here? Happy here? How could I be happy here?" Tinsley's arms got tangled in a pair of jeans. She screeched, tossed them behind her, and promptly smacked Ian in the face with them. "Everything was perfect for a whole two seconds before we get a Howler on our doorstep, screaming about how one of my dimwit brothers has been hiding..." Tinsley emerged from the closet with a shirt tangled around her head. "I'm stuck," she explained. "Anyway," continued Tinsley, ripping the shirt apart, "We get this Howler, right? Screaming about how my brother is someone's father. I'm an Aunt. And now my dad is freaking out, because this family doesn't keep secrets." The guilt was obviously etched across Tinsley's sad face. "So... happy here? Not a chance. But if I'm going to make things at the chateau more difficult, I'll have Kayden here." Tinsley kicked aside a pile of clothes that were now strewn about on her floor. "Happy here. HAH!" |

It stung more than a little to have blue jeans smack you in the face. Ian's eyes watered just a bit. Maybe it stung more, the fact that they'd barely been...whatever they were, for two days and already she was screaming at him. He reached up and pulled her pants off his head and let them fall to the floor. Her words confused him. Howler? One of her brothers hiding...? Tinsley emerged from the closet with a shirt tangled around her head. "I'm stuck," she explained. "Here let me help--" but Tinsley had already ripped the shirt off herself. "Wait? Which brother?" he asked, "I'm still confused. Everyone was just acting like nothing happened." He saw the guilt, anger, and confusion on her face. "You won't make things more difficult," he said, practically pleading, his heart starting to race, thinking he'd already screwed this up, "not at all. Please Tinsley, let's not do this." He didn't try to touch her again. It was a worse slap in the face than those jeans to have that connection they'd so desired last night rejected. "Is..." he started to ask, "Is there anything I can do to help?" Edited by Ian de Pointe du Lac, Aug 18 2010, 02:57:12 AM.

I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin' I heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin' I heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin' I heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin' Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. --Bob Dylan | |
