| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. It was an overcast yet warm day. Diagon Alley was filled, as usual, with all manner of witches and wizards. They all went about their business as they had always done, diving in and out of shops for one reason or other and carting their purchases to and fro. Most didn't take any notice of the young man standing alone, holding a great many boxes and apparently waiting for something or, indeed, someone. Shinji and his grandfather, Katashi, had come to the alley to take care of some business, just as everyone else had. His grandfather had insisted that the trip into the alley was necessary to collect some funds and to pick up some specialized equipment. He had also remarked that there were some 'other things' that required his attention as well. So, the two of them had traveled into London from Katashi's residence just outside of it, Tetsue House. They first addressed the financial consideration. They accompanied a small and very irritable goblin down into the depths of Gringotts' labyrinthine tunnel network, a dizzying ride down to Shinji's grandfather's massive vault which was filled from floor to ceiling with gold coins, hardly leaving room for anything of silver or bronze. Once they had left, they saw to a few errands in the alley before Shinji's grandfather told him that he would have to take a small detour. He left Shin with strict instructions to stay put at the mouth of a street called Knockturn Alley before walking down it and out of sight. And so, there he stood, alone and waiting obediently. The minutes ticked by as he stood there, holding the boxes containing their various purchases. As the hour, hour and a half, two hour, and two and a half hour marks ticked by, Shinji did not move. However, he was starting to get a bit worried. He had come to the conclusion that the place was as dodgy as they came almost as soon as he had laid eyes upon the entrance to it. Now he was starting to wonder if it didn't completely live up to his first impressions. In with this thought was mixed a countenance of the possibility that his grandfather was in trouble and in need of help. As the three hour mark arrived, Shinji decided that he was done waiting. Surely there was something amiss. He turned, placed his boxes upon the ground in a nook where they couldn't be seen and covertly flicked his wand at them, making them vanish instantly. Of course, this was only an invisibility charm. It would wear off in about half an hour, but it would keep them from being spotted until he got back. And, with that, he began to march down into Knockturn Alley. With every step, the alley seemed grimier and less trustworthy than it had the step before. He quickly came to the head of a staircase which descended down into the alley below. Paths led off in either direction from the top of the stairs. He had no idea which way to go. His grandfather hadn't told him what this errand was and, even if he had, there Shinji had never been in this place before. He had no idea where anything was. He was just thinking that down would be the best option when something to his left caught his eye. He turned to take a look. There, in the path which led off in that direction, were six men all walking slowly in his direction, cruel and mischievous smiles playing across their faces. Each and every one of them looked more crooked than the last and Shinji could practically see the ill intent in their eyes. He turned toward them in full as they drew within a few feet and waited. He was uncertain, however, hardly afraid. These men were petty thugs and thugs were rarely as dangerous as they thought they were when put up against anyone who had even the slightest idea what they were doing. "So..." said the obvious leader of the group judging from the fact that he looked to be the foulest and most depraved of the bunch. "what have we here?" Jesse side apparated with Roger to Diagon Alley and farewelled him as he disappeared with a crack. Jesse had finally escaped the undying annoyance of her family. Sure she loved them, but that didn't mean she didn't want to get away from the overly irritating male presence that they had been giving her lately. Now that Lewis and Clarke found out that Jesse was trying to piss a certain Slytherin off, they've been going non-stop with all the imitations of her getting smouldered by her rival. And constant magic going around her. She was practically the only one from her family that cannot use magic without getting expelled from Hogwarts. And that was something that Jesse did not want to happen. Luckily Roger was nice enough to side apparate Jesse to Diagon Alley, he was on of the few siblings that didn't find annoying Jesse much fun to Jesse's delight. She wandered around the crowded Alley dreamily, only half of her was on earth. She continued to whistle when she came across Knockturn Alley. A place wear she forbidden to set foot in. She had once wandered on the border when she was a small naive little girl, shopping with her father for Alex's stuff for Hogwarts. That was the time she was banned from the place. She was tempted, like the muggle story with Adam and Eve being tempted by a devious snake to eat the forbidden fruit. Jesse's recklessness and boredom would kick in soon and eventually she would step over the border and enter with curiosity. But her conscious was telling her no, her birthday was in a week and her father would hold back the presents if he found out. What he doesn't know won't hurt him... Jesse thought, bringing her foot onto the dark and gloomy pavement. Her sneakers made small sounds as they hit the footpath and she descended down the stairs. She had emerged into the alley of sin and darkness. She had no idea where to start, there were so many dark stores to go to. She wasn't a big fan of the dark arts, but although her curiosity was a big factor in most stupid things she does. Jesse followed the ominous path she was on and looked around stared with a raised eyebrow at the names and items at the front of the shops. She had past the infamous Borgin and Burke's, which sold a range of expensive dark items, which had no intention of being acquainted with. She had noticed, on her walk, a few people looking up and staring at her. Some were ugly and disfigured that seemed utterly poor with a menacing smirk pasted on their faces. And other's who looked rich and superior walking down the opposite way past Jesse with an enormous swagger. Jesse found six men following mindlessly behind someone with an evil smile on their faces. Jesse shrugged, it seemed like that there was going to be action there, so she switched her direction and followed behind the men cautiously from a distance. If they were going mess with that person they were following. Sure she would get them muggers with her painful punches and kicks taught by her father, but she was hoping to get some more fun by taunting them. She was good at that. The group of men finally stopped and that's when she saw an Asian boy about the same age as her. She creeped back behind a wall and watched them from her safe place. "So...what have we here?" Jesse sighed. She shook her head at their attempt to psyche the boy up for a potential beating. She stepped into the light...well in the very few sun rays that manage to pierce down into this hell hole. She stood there unafraid like a true Gryffindor and she scoffed loudly at, apparently, the group's leader. "Tut, tut, tut. Didn't your mommy tell you guys to wear a mask. With a face like that, your going to need them. But then again, they're a great asset for mugging, no need to lift a finger, they'd run off before you say 'Gimme your money', don't you reckon?" Jesse taunted with her most annoyingly smug voice. She was feeling rather cocky then. The group turned to face Jesse, one of the hotheads' face turned into a bright shade of purple and started a to swing his bulky fist at her face. Jesse ducked, thanks to her Quidditch reflexes and popped her head back up to kick him right in the kiwis. The guy groaned and placed his hand over his crotch and whimpered as he fell down to the ground. Oh yeah, that's how I roll! Jesse exclaimed in her mind. She looked at the boy past the open wide mouths of the rest of the group. Her face read run. He had time to go while the muggers were still in shocked. She wanted to beat them up like no tomorrow. |

Interesting... Unlike the men around him, Shinji's gaze hadn't moved much. He was perfectly capable of telling exactly what was going on without actually looking around to see it. Nevertheless, his eyes had flicked briefly in her direction the moment she had nutted that first idiot who had headed her way. The moment she did, though, the rest reacted as you might expect petty thugs to react - they gave themselves the upper hand. Or, at least, what they thought was the upper hand. All five of those who remained standing drew their wands either openly or covertly as they turned to deal with the newcomer. Shinji could tell she was formidable already. However, turning their backs on him while trying to use magic on an essentially unarmed opponent was the biggest mistake of their pitiful little lives. He took advantage of this window of opportunity without a second thought. As two of them headed off to deal with the girl, the three that remained got a little lesson in why you should never try to corner a Japanese wizard. With one on his left, facing away, one in front facing the same direction, and one on his right doing the same, Shinji's plan of attack instantly formulated in his mind. All three of them had their wands out, pointed toward the girl. This was his chief concern. In an instant, he drove the side of his right hand upward into the throat of the man on his right in a chop, making the man stagger backward, gasping, clutching his throat, his wand dropped and forgotten. Shinji spun out from where he stood, bringing his right knee up while grabbing the man by the back of the head and driving his head down onto his knee, knocking him out. He then waisted no time driving his elbow back into the face of the man who had been standing directly in front of him, now behind Shin after he had spun away from the wall. Like his friend before him, the man staggered from the force of the hit. He, however, had been trying to redirect his wand at the time to try and get an angle on Shinji. Apparently, he had already half cast the spell by the time Shinji had hit him because Shin could see the reddish magical energy collecting at the tip of the wand. With only a millisecond to loose, Shin brought his right arm down from where it had been after it's elbow had been driven into the man's face and grabbed the man's wrist, pointing the wand at the third in the group that had remained behind, still oblivious to the fight going on behind him because he was so fixated on the girl. The stunning spell shot out of the thug's wand, hit his friend square in the back, and threw him through the storefront window to his left, unconscious. With that, Shinji had but one more foe out of the three stragglers to fight. He released the man's wrist, drove the tip of his right hand's middle, index, and ring fingers into the top of the man's wrist, right below the palm, making him drop the wand, and grabbed the man's thumb, snapping it backward and making the man howl with pain. He then grabbed the man by his other arm with his own left and spun, pulling the man over his back in a throw and essentially tossing him with force into the solid stone wall on one side of the street. He, like his friends, didn't get up. It had taken about five seconds for the whole thing to play out. Now his thoughts turned to the last two who had headed toward the girl, his savior and newfound ally. What he saw impressed him. |

Jesse smirked as the two other men creeped towards her, the other three stayed and watched. That was however, the only time she would get a quick glance at them as she focused all her energy towards her two opponents, who seemed hungry for Jesse's blood spill. She calmly stook a step back to ground herself tightly to the ground, but kept her hands remained dangling on each side of her. She knew that these men were going to get a one hell of a whooping. Jesse was taught a few moves from her father, whom to her seemed to know everything. However these men were a bit naive about her skills and continued to press on towards her. Bad idea. Jesse tutted again as the first of the pair took a menacingly close step towards her and made a lung to grab her by the shoulders and throw her like a rag doll. She instantly grabbed the inner part of his arms and pulled him towards her and bent her knee forward to drive it in. She looked over the man's shoulder and rammed her knee further into his gut. She could hear him start to splutter out blood. "Don't choke to hard on your little taste of defeat," Jesse jeered cockily. She looked at her second opponent over her victim's shoulder. She watched grimacing as he saw him pull out his wand and muttering some spell under his breath. A quick spark of blue lit from the guy's wand and started towards her. She quickly dropped the groaning man and rolled to the side to dodge the spell. She looked up from her dive and grimaced. Somehow she needed him to lose the wand. Recklessly, before she knew she was thinking. She made a run towards the man. He smirked and grasped his wand tighter as he prepared to cast his hex. As the first syllable rolled out of his mouth, this was Jesse's signal as she moved closer to the mugger. She dropped down onto the concrete, but still managed to have her momentum from her run. She slid swiftly against the smooth path and held her leg out, which looked like it was going to collide with the man's shin. She smashed her foot against the man's shin and he howled with pain and dropped his wand in his cry. Jesse rolled away from him as he dropped to his knees. Jesse quickly stood up and went for the wand. The man quickly recovered, to Jesse's disappointment. He ran towards here, being a big adult had its advantages and he caught up to Jesse and grabbed her from behind. Angrily she released her elbow from his harsh grip and force her elbow into his face. He staggered back, clutching his already disfigured face. Jesse made her move quickly and ran towards him. In a fluid motion she grabbed his shoulder and swung her leg past his outer legs, but then back again to hit the inside of his shin. She wrapped her foot around his leg and forced all her body weight onto him as he fell from Jesse's shin hitting. He dropped down onto the pavement hard with Jesse's foot still intertwined with his leg. As she fell on top of him, all you could hear was a sudden loud crack and a loud scream of pain. She had broken his leg, so that means he could no longer attempt to get Jesse. She made her way to the wand and picked it up. She ignored the piercing wails of both men and made her way towards the boy she had left. Jesse gave him a look with raised eyebrows as she stared at the three other men who probably got thrashed by a teen as well. Jesse was a tad bit jealous, as she thought she was the only one with moves. "I'm serious disappointed that it was over. That was just way too easy. Oh and hi I'm Jesse. And this...this is Knockturn Alley, a place neither of us should be in," Jesse introduced herself and pointed out. She did feel a tad rebellious. |

"Shinji Kumiyoko." Shin said, nodding. He paid little heed to the rest of what the girl said and didn't even bother looking at her. This was what his grandfather would have called an 'exceedingly rude introduction'. He didn't really care, though. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate her help. He was impressed with her skill and grateful for the assistance, whatever he thought. It was simply a matter of his not feeling he needing it. The distraction had been useful. However, he could have dealt with all six of them just as easily as he dealt with three. They were simply third rate thugs. His gaze swept the scene and the shops nearby. The one he had sent one of the crooks through the front window of was closed. Thus, no angry proprietors were swooping down on them... yet. Regardless, they couldn't linger for long and Shinji still needed to find his grandfather. He swept the scene one last time with his eyes and then turned, saying "Thank you." as he went. If his grandfather had been anywhere within earshot, he would have come immediately after the fight started. That was enough to tell Shinji that he wasn't in any of the shops in that particular stretch of the alley. He would carry on his search. Edited by Shinji Kumiyoko, Aug 19 2010, 06:58:04 AM.

"Hi...uh..Shee-nje, Kuu-mi-yo-" Jesse began, having quite a lot of trouble pronouncing what seems to be a Japanese or Chinese name. She had a lot of trouble with Asian names, as she couldn't quite well roll those names out of her mouth so easily as serving a comeback or a witty comment. She stopped her attempt when he wasn't even paying attention to her as he looked away from her. She gave a small Hmph! He seemed a tad rude not paying attention to the girl who saved his magical behind. He seemed to be looking for something as he peered his head over to look into the shops. Well would actually wanted to see what was inside know that this is Knockturn Alley. He was either a dark arts freak, he was lost (which was quite evident as he is in Knockturn Alley) or he was curious. He couldn't of have been looking for a dark item. That would be...Slytherin-like. She shuddered. Ew. Slytherins. "Your welcome-" Jesse started, a bit absent-minded in her thought. She realised that Shin (as she will now call him) was moving away from her without another reply,"-hey wait a minute! Where are you going? And more importantly what are you doing here?!" Jesse called out to him. Once he jogged to him she placed her hand on his shoulder and pulled him back to face her. She was curious and that made her do a lot of crazy things. |

Shinji marched off down the alley. He didn't pay much attention to the girl now bobbing along in his wake. Every once in a while, he'd deign to answer her questions. However, he spent most of his energy in looking for his grandfather. He peered through window after window as he walked, keeping his mind almost entirely fixed upon his search. "Where are you going?" "Somewhere..." Shinji said, peering through the front window of a divination shop called The Tainted Palm. He turned left at another fork in the road, heading toward where he saw the most shops. He figured his grandfather had to be in one of them... "...more importantly what are you doing here?!" Shinji stopped dead. "You do realize you aren't supposed to ask this many questions of someone you don't know, don't you?" he said, turning back toward her at the head of the steps leading down to the left. It was, perhaps, one of the longest sentences he had ever uttered in his life. |

Jesse groaned at his answer. Vague and brief, not the type of answer she was looking for, but at least she got him talking. His mind was definitely on something more important besides her which kind of explained partially why he was ignoring her. She groaned again, her lips pursed together, he was being too difficult, like a stubborn donkey. She followed him determinedly, she was hoping that she would at least find out herself what he was doing here. Like a tail to a donkey, she followed him with a sort of frustrated pout. When he came to a halt she smirked, her way of non-gloating her triumphant success in pulling out a full sentence from him. "Ah HA! Well we found out that you do have an extended vocabulary, well done old chap," Jesse exclaimed, managing not to push her fist up into the air. "And you do realise ignoring someone is rude for someone who got his butt saved by a girl. Or can't you accept that?" Jesse pouted, pulling a greasy. She was getting frustrated by the fact that she wasn't getting anywhere with this guy. |

"Ah HA! Well we found out that you do have an extended vocabulary, well done old chap," Shinji folded his arms, squinting at her slightly. Was it really so surprising that he knew how to speak English? She practically looked as though she was going to whoop for joy over it or something. "And you do realize ignoring someone is rude for someone who got his butt saved by a girl. Or can't you accept that?" Shinji blinked. She could not be serious. She was following him because she thought he was being a chauvinist? He didn't have time for this. Shaking his head, Shinji unfolded his arms and began to descend the stairs into the lower alley. If she wanted to make an issue out of it, she'd have to do a lot more than throw suggestions of prejudice at him. "I said thank you." Shinji said, loud enough for her to hear, as he took the tenth or so step down the staircase. ((OOC: I think we should have them run into the gang members' boss and a bigger group. Maybe like fifteen or sixteen of them. It'd be epic.)) |

Jesse huffed as she followed him down the stairs, deeper into the dark alley. She mentally face palmed. This guy was an idiot. Even more than her obnoxious brothers. Well...maybe not. But he was asking for trouble walking down those steps, he might even get mugged again, and Jesse would just pull out a chair and some popcorn and watch. Lets see him talk now. But than again, she did find three guys scattered around him, looking like what they had intended for him. "Well, you didn't have to sound ungrateful," Jesse gritted. He was getting frustrated. He gave her way too simple answers and replies. Nothing ranging out of the one sentence mark. Jesse shook her head and took a couple of steps back up. She wasn't scared. She merely didn't want to babysit this...uh...non-crying baby. Maybe if she was annoying enough, she'd get more than a sentence out of him. Besides, she did learn from the best. |

"Ungrateful?" Shinji said as he reached the bottom of the stairs and started down the lower alley. "If I was ungrateful, I would not have thanked you." He continued to peer through every window he passed for any sign of his grandfather. The street continued a short way and ended with a sharp turn to the left. As he rounded the corner, he came upon the edge of what looked like an old square. The bone dry remnants of what looked like a fountain stood at it's heart and the surrounding buildings were all boarded up and sealed. Several roads led off from the square. Shinji stepped into the open area, looking around. How far did this place extend? He'd be looking forever. And then his gaze fell upon the fountain's statue. It was a tall, proud witch with a raven sitting upon her shoulder, and a diadem upon her head. She was holding her wand aloft over the now empty pool. Carved into the stone of her plinth was the name 'ROWENA RAVENCLAW'. The stone was excellent. As a craftsman in his own right, Shinji could not help but admire the work. Looking around the square, many of the storefronts had the look of being once great. He couldn't believe that such a place stood in an alley so obviously dark. It seemed that, at one time, this was not a dark artist's realm. "Welcome." Shinji spun on the spot. He immediately noticed that Jesse had followed him into the square. Then he took notice of the man standing, flanked by henchmen, in the mouth of the road off of which Shinji and Jesse had just stepped. Looking to both sides, Shinji saw that they were surrounded. Including the three barring their path back to Diagon Alley, there were something like sixteen in all. "Like what we've done with the place?" the man said, stepping forward, a black cane in one hand while the other hand was held behind his back. The man wore what looked like a black dragon-skin suit and a black silk cloak with a high, fur lined collar. It made him look rather like the stereotypical muggle idea of what a vampire dressed like. "So... I hear you beat up some of my men." "Your men attacked us." Shinji said, stepping around Jesse so as to get between her and the man. "Right, well, you see, they do that because I tell them to." the man said. "People come through my territory, they need to pay the appropriate level of respect. And the respect I demand is currencial in nature." Currencial? What the hell did that mean? "So, I'll be having every last knut ya got." Monetary, he meant. Shinji snorted his exasperation. It seemed the boss of the gang was just as much a poser as his peons were. He didn't even know the proper way to say what he meant to say. This was ridiculous. Shinji reached into his pocket and drew out, not money, but his wand. He wasn't about to give this man anything but a thorough hexing. He'd worry about the legal ramifications later. Jesse was taken back as more men piled into the square which she had followed Shinji into. They were even more of a stalker than what Jesse seemed to be for Shinji. They were pedo-bears. She gritted her teeth angrily. They looked like those people from muggle mafias. They think their so cool in their suit and ties and hidden guns, or in this case wands. "Welcome." Jesse raised her upper lip in disgust at the man. He looked so tough in his dragon-skinned suit and silk coat. Especially with his cane. That made Jesse really shudder in her sneakers. What is he going to beat them up with his cane? Wow. So intimidating... She listened to them rambling on with their useless prep talk. Geez that made Jesse bored. She yawned cockily and smirked as the boss flashed an angry glare towards her. She merely rolled her eyes as she saw the sixteen men stretch, crack their knuckles and all those other 'intimidating' gestures. Please, she could take all of them on. Without a cane. "So, I'll be having every last knut ya got." Jesse shook her head. Idiots. She glanced back to Shinji, whom she hadn't given an eye during the boss's speech. She quickly moved her hand to snatch his wand. Another idiot. Who did he think he was? Superman? Did he know that he would get in deeps if he used that? Jesse gritted her teeth and placed it on the fountain's edge. "Oh shut up will you?" Jesse said glancing back at the boss. She could feel their faces against her fists already. |

The Wandmaker's Son

Shinji's gaze snapped over to Jesse as his wand was snatched from him. He couldn't believe she had done that. There were areas of the world where someone would be killed for something like that. She was just lucky he wasn't from one of them. Fine. If she didn't want him to use a wand... Shinji's foot collided with the gang boss's face, throwing the man off his feet instantly and sending his cane flying. Reaching up, Shinji snatched the rod from midair and threw it with all his might at the henchman behind and to the left of where the boss had been standing. The cane's metal knob of a cap hit the man right on the head, knocking him out instantly, possibly worse. Without wasting an instant, the moment he released the cane, he dodged to his right, moving into the midst of the six man group there. Jesse would have to take care of herself. Frankly, at the moment, he wasn't terribly interested in doing her any favors. ((OOC: Lol. You dun made him angry.)) Edited by Shinji Kumiyoko, Aug 29 2010, 01:28:15 AM.

Jesse returned the greasy. He was really stupid to think that he should use his wand. Like seriously? He'd get expelled and get his wand broken, at least he won't use it anymore. She felt her wand in her back pocket as well, she took it out and placed it next to Shinji's. That would snap for sure during the show down. Jesse watched, nodding at Shinji's advances. He did...pretty good, she hated to admit. He went for the boss with Jesse's disappointment. She wanted to kick that guy's balls so hard that he even couldn't make babies if any other mafia-like girl wanted to...Then the cane which the boss was holding flew out of his hands and into Shinji's who threw it to another henchmen who was knock out instantly. Now it was her turn. She took a step to the side as man took a run at her with open arms. Stupid. He missed her and couldn't stop because of his momentum. She dodged to the left as another man replaced that other henchman's job. As he took a run she balled her fist tightly and swung her arm into an uppercut to his chin. She could of sworn she saw blood out of his mouth as he took a fall to the ground. She looked back as she saw the rhino who had a run at her try again. Jesse smirked as he came to a run. She looked down to find the boss's cane on the floor. She looked back at the henchmen who was coming closer. One. Two. Three. Jesse ducked down and quickly the cane. She turned on the spot and gripped the cane tightly outwards. She could here the man's war cry as he came closer. Then...BAM! She could feel a hard surface as the cane whack against the man's shins. She followed through with her swing as the man lifted off the ground and fall face first on the ground. She was sure he wasn't going to get up anytime soon. ((OOC: Jesse can kick some ass real good, lol)) Edited by Jesse Desmount, Aug 29 2010, 02:23:29 AM.

Shinji batted two of the thugs' wands out of their hands with a pair of quick jabs to the wrists of each one. He then, with a quick kick to the side of one's knee and just the right twist to the arm of the other, broke one's leg and the other's arm. Then, twisting around on the spot, he tossed the one with the broken arm down upon his now prone and broken legged companion, both howling with pain. Two of the four remaining advanced on him quickly while a third ran off toward one of the buildings, his intentions unclear. The last of them stayed back a bit, looking for an opening in Shinji's defenses. It wasn't something he was likely to find. Blocking a punch from one of the two who had approached him, Shinji drove a powerful kick into the stomach of the other, making him stagger backward, clutching his gut. Shinji then drove a fist into the face of the man he had blocked, making the man's head snap back and allowing Shinji grab his throat. Placing one foot behind the man's closest leg, Shinji force the man backward, tripping him and making him fall hard on the stone cobbles. Shinji then seized the man's wand, turned, and tossed it at the head of the man he had kicked in the stomach earlier, now approaching for another attack. The wand's tip hit him right in the middle of the forehead. Immediately, furious and very painful looking boils began to erupt all over his face, spreading out from where the wand had hit him. Throwing a wand was almost never the equivalent of throwing a twig. More like throwing a knife. You never know what it'll do to whatever it hits, but it probably won't be good. Howling and clutching at his face, the man dropped his wand and went running like crazy, eventually running full tilt into a stone wall and knocking himself out. At that instant, something in Shinji's periphery made him raise his guard. The thug who had lingered on the outside edge of the fight had taken the opportunity to move in. Whatever he had hit Shinji with, though, it wasn't a fist or any body part. It was hard, like wood. Gritting his teeth against the pain of an almost certainly fractured bone, Shinji looked around. In contact with his arm was what looked like a wooden board spit down it's length and turned into a club. The pain was considerable, but Shinji didn't utter so much as a peep which articulated the feeling. All he did was growl with frustration and kick at the man under his guard. He wasn't about to be defeated by a coward with a wooden toy. |
