| Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice |
| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. ooc|| LOL! Sorry Tris, seems Addie and Hellzy have a thing. XD bic|| Addie nodded silently, gazing at his back thoughtfully as he sat down beside her. "Okay, that'd be awesome if you could help me train. Thanks Hellius." She smiled, gazing back up at the sky. He was right, she'd seen him use his elementium more than anyone else had. "It's weird, eh? We used to hate each other, that's why I've seen your elementium so many times. Things have changed a lot." |

"Hate is a word I rarely use without thinking. I can't really say that I hated you." Hellius had a flashback. Out of all of the encounters between Addie and Hellius, there was one in particular that stuck out in his mind above all others. It was first year, they had just arrived at the castle, and Hellius' attention was swallowed and consumed by the picture of his family before Hellius' father was in the dirt. Addie tried to engage him, get to know him; he was distant. He didn't want anything to do with it. All of the events of their past were negative. There was rarely a time where they weren't bickering or fighting as a result of Hellius' untold aggression. Hellius sat there in silence for a few moments. He listened to the wind blow through the tree tops, and the distant sounds of students chatting about anything and everything. Leaning back on his palms, Hellius sighed and stared at the sky. "I'm sorry, he murmured, "for everything. I wish I could explain myself, but there's nothing to explain. I know the past is the past, but looking back..." He closed his eyes, releasing a low hum. "Everything is a blur. I don't want to remember all the bullshit I've done. I really don't. But, I guess it's a good thing I can't forget, because I don't think I would want to forget you, and your part in my life." Edited by Hellius Surla, Aug 11 2010, 10:29:47 PM.

She nodded slightly, absently trying to spot some of the constellations they'd learned in the sky. She remembered the numerous times she'd tried to protect someone after stumbling onto Hellius hurting them. More vividly she remembered the time they'd gotten stuck in the Forbidden Forest together. They'd been fighting, but when they'd been attacked by red caps, Hellius had helped protect her. She remembered the time when Julian had threatened Tristan, telling her that Hellius would kill him. In reality, Hellius had nothing to do with Julian. She'd believed some pretty terrible things about him as well. A lot of them hadn't been true. He had hurt people, but he had a dark past. She hadn't understood him, as much as she'd tried. She was partially to blame, there was no way she could hold a grudge against him. Addie's eyes widened as the boy continued, shocked at the admission. They'd become fairly close friends in recent years, but she'd never heard anything like that escape his lips. "Hellius... I don't really know what to say..." She trailed off, reaching out and resting a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you. It means a lot to me... And don't forget, otherwise you might forget how we became friends." She smiled brightly, watching him. |

Friends? I wonder if she's joking. Blowing air out through his lips, Hellius tilted his head to the side and gazed at Addie; his deep, blue eyes glistening under the light of the moon. He shrugged, still tense, even now, and he looked off into the distance. "That's a word I haven't heard in awhile." Focusing on the hand on his shoulder, Hellius sighed. The wind began to blow noticeably harder. "I have a hard time believing you." Maybe he was lying. Maybe he wasn't. Hellius had lied to himself for so many years he had difficulty differentiating the fact from the fiction. Whether or not he chose to except it, Hellius had a soft spot for Addie. Over the years, they had been through so much, and although they had fought, he purposely kept himself from doing anything drastic, where he otherwise wouldn't have had a second thought. A powerful gust of wind blew from nowhere and Hellius decided to ride with it. He toppled over, falling over onto Addie. He sighed, closing his eyes. |

Addie frowned faintly, hearing his comment. "Why? After everything that's happened, why wouldn't you believe me?" She asked softly, gazing over at him. They'd been drawn to each other since first year. Maybe their elementium was the reason? Light and shadow needed each other, didn't they? Back then it was more as enemies, which had somehow evolved into a friendship. Regardless, they'd spent a lot of time together over the past five years. Addie couldn't help feeling a little hurt that he didn't believe her. The girl blinked, gasping softly as he fell onto her, somewhat surprised by the sudden weight of his body. "What was that for?" She asked, laughing faintly. |

Hellius shrugged as he rested his body weight against Addie. "That's exactly my point." As the Gryffindor boy rested his head against Addie's shoulder, he had a flashback to some of his first days at the citadel. Hellius and his cousin, Myles were both there for the same reason, but, as it was, Hellius arrived after Myles. There was a lot to learn in those first few weeks and Hellius was expected to pick them up immediately, though he struggled and resisted. As a result, Myles and Hellius were both punished regardless of Myles' performance. His cousin never forgave him for the obvious, and Hellius had never heard the end of any mistake he had made from his grand mother. "And, hey, hey, don' give me that double standard. You fall on me, I fall on you." Hellius rubbed his head on her shoulder. "You're comfy." |

Addie frowned, turning her head slightly to look at him on her shoulder. What did he mean by that? He could be a real mystery sometimes, he really could. Addie returned her gaze to the stars, laughing at his next comment. "Ohhh, okay, that makes sense now. Not like I fell on you on purpose or anything." She grinned faintly, rolling her eyes at his remark. Of course, his next remark caught her off guard. He seemed to be doing that a lot tonight. Addie couldn't help blushing as he rubbed his head on her shoulder. "Comfy? If you say so." She paused thoughtfully, before grinning and flopping back on the grass, so he would fall backwards again. |

Falling flat on his back, Hellius took a deep breath and released it very slowly. Staring at the sky and then glancing over at Addie, he shrugged, stretching his hands and arms back over his head. "Mmm...ahh," he groaned, dropping his arms as he finished stretching. Examining the stars and the moon, enjoying the solemn light striking his face, Hellius closed his eyes and relaxed. "The shadows of the night... makes the world feel like a pool of water, with tides washing in and out. Every movement creates just the slightest wave. It feels like a breeze of air, but it is always thicker, like mist, or a thin satin cloth. When there's light, the entire atmosphere is completely different. You just have to... reach out and feel everything around you," Hellius rambled, speaking slowly and distinctively. "I doubt our situations are the same right now, considering everything. But there is the moon and the stars." |

Addie took a moment to digest exactly what Hellius was saying. She supposed that it kind of made sense. "They're so far away, but since their light still reaches us, I can feel it, in a way. You can feel the shadows, can't you?" Addie allowed her eyes to slip shut, somehow able to weakly feel the light hitting her body. The pin pricks of light that were the stars seemed to shine through her eyelids. "I don't think our elementium works quite the same as everyone elses. It's different somehow, I can't figure it out just yet." She fell silent, staring up at the sky thoughtfully. She'd always loved the night sky, it was one of the most beautiful things in the world to her. "I wish it was brighter." |

"Ever taken a muggle chemistry class? Plants, earth, water, air - all molecules. Light is just energy. A category all its own. Shadows is the lack of that energy." Hellius opened his eyes and turned his head to look at Addie. "Try to make them brighter, then. You don't need to change the source of the light to make something appear brighter, do you?" |

She nodded slightly as he mentioned the chemistry. She never really thought about magic and science at the same time, though she supposed they could be applied from time to time. "No.. I don't think I need to change the source..." She commented thoughtfully after a moment. "And if I screw up the stars somehow, they should go back to normal in 7 minutes." She commented, grinning sheepishly. Addie took a deep breath, focusing on the lights before her. She would try the moon first, as opposed to trying them all at once. "How though? What should I do to make it brighter?" She had to amplify the existing light somehow, she just wasn't sure how quite yet. |

Hellius shrugged and played with the darkness. His eyes were closed and he kept waving his arms around in the air; enjoying the sensations as the waves crashed against his body. "I dunno? I'm not sure of the whole theoreticals behind my elementium, but Charles told me that there are waves of light--energy-- that are constantly beating down. Everywhere there is light there is that energy, everywhere there is a shadow there is a lack of that energy. I guess mine works kinda like a black hole; consuming everything. And yours... is opposite mine... so..." Hellius shrugged again. "I dunno." |

Addie nodded again, falling into a thoughtful silence. She slipped her eyes shut, concentrating on the pin pricks of light that were somehow still visible behind closed eyes. She really could feel it, waves of light touching her body. They were hard to differentiate at first, after a few moments of silent concentration she felt the separate waves. After a longer moment she was able to group them together by their source. All it took was a bit of letting go of her preconceived notions and letting her elementium guide her. That and a great deal of focus. By now she'd forgotten Hellius beside her, forgotten everything but those lights. Some of the waves seemed faster, closer together, while others stretched out lazily. The frequency, it determined how bright the star appeared. That was it, wasn't it? Addie focused, holding her breath as she attempted to change the pattern of the waves. After several attempts, she could feel it, the sky brightening. Slowly Addie opened her eyes, gazing up at the sky with a soft gasp. It was beautiful, the sky seemed to be lit up like Van Gogh's Starry Night. The stars and moon were bright, some of the colours that had previously been invisible flickered throughout the sky. "Hellius..." She murmured softly, eyes lit up, a slow smile touching her features. She'd done it, and it was amazing. After a minute, the vivid intensity of the sky faded back to its usual simplistic beauty. Addie could feel the weight of exhaustion settling on her body as she lay there, gazing up at the sky. There was a comfortable silence that fell over the pair. Hellius continued to lay there with his hands behind his head as a pillow, staring at the moon, waiting expectantly for something to happen. Suddenly there was a flicker from the moon; like a candle that faltered from a draft. Frowning slightly, Hellius' eyes darted around the sky, looking at each individual speck and pinprick as they slowly changed from being dull and insignificant to being bright and vibrant. Around them he could tell that some students were taking notice. "Woah! Look at the sky!" "What the hell?" "What's happening?" Letting his mouth fall agape, Hellius glanced over at Addie as she finally came back to reality. The corners of his mouth slowly crept into a smile and he released a friendly laugh. "Not bad!" he chuckled. Placing his feet flat on the ground so his knees were up in the air, Hellius clapped his hands up in the air above his chest. "How does it feel to know that you have literally created a phenomena of astronomical proportions?" |

"Exhausting." Addie laughed softly, gazing up at the sky with a soft smile. "That really was tiring. Do you still get tired when you do something big like that?" The girl asked, yawning and glancing over to him contently. Maybe she wasn't so hopeless after all. I may still have a shot at mastering this elementium thing. |

"I get migraines and I get cold. Really cold. My body tingles," Hellius responded, sitting up again. He hugged his knees. "To be honest, I've never done anything that big. I don't know if it's possible. I've manipulated my shadow to scare the shit out of the occasional first year, I've weaponized it, made a dome, but that's about it. I seriously wonder what else is possible." Hellius held his left hand out in front of him and closed his eyes. He focused on the sensations and the warmth of the moonlight striking his skin and the cold under his palm. Hellius contoured his fingers so they were pointing towards the ground and swiftly and sharply threw his hand down towards the ground. An ebony strand connected to his index finger, like lock of hair elevated from static electricity. It rippled like grass in the breeze, waving back and forth. Towards the center of the strand, it forked off on both sides and connected to his remaining fingers with extreme speed and accuracy. "The silhouettes are... interesting. Sometimes I can touch them and I go inside them; I go somewhere dark, cold, almost damp. It's like a pool of satin, or a cloud, only that I'm being pulled at from all sides. Sometimes I brush it with my fingers and I start to bleed; the skin just disappears. "I'm apprehensive to experiment more with... this in particular." Addie couldn't help shivering slightly at his words. Everything he described intimidated her; the dark, the cold, the fact that it could make him bleed. "I don't blame you. That would scare me a lot... Though, I bet you could do something big." ooc|| Maybe if you want to get Azzie to post somewhere, you could have him see the sky when it was bright, which would inform him that Addie's practicing? And you could still have Myles attack them, especially now that Addie is tired. Let me know if anything works. |

"It's possible. These shadows are like clay," Hellius murmured, looping shadows around with his finger. They appeared like thick, materialized smoke. "But I can't really test on anything. Unless it's red caps. Or leaves. Or first years. No one gives a f*ck about the first years." Smirking, Hellius turned his palm up towards the sky. The shadows still stuck close to his fingers and waved around like tentacles. Hellius started repeatedly pinching his fingers together and then separating them, trying to mold something abstract in the constantly deviating shadows. "Hey, Addie?" Hellius paused for a moment and licked at the corner of his mouth. "Wanna go into the forest?" The Gryffindor's face dripped with anxiousness and confidence. |

She laughed, rolling her eyes slightly. "Sometimes I seriously wonder how you became the other Gryffindor Prefect." Addie commented, watching him playing with the shadows curiously. She fell silent, somewhat startled by his next comment. "The forest?" It was definitely something she hadn't been expecting. The forest wasn't exactly her favourite place, especially at night. "Um, maybe for a bit... Why?" Judging by the look on his face, and the conversation they'd been having, she figured he wanted to find himself some red caps to practice on. |

"I have an urge to get out and do something we're not supposed to do. It's been a long, long time," Hellius clamped his fist, dissipating the shadows, and rolled over onto his back. "And it's the perfect place for us to get some practice in. Why not?" Hellius put his knees to his chest and rolled back and forth, building up momentum, before rolling over backwards to his feet. He brushed at his clothes. "Shall we?" he extended his hand to Addie. |
