Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Upon reaching the sturdy tree, infamously but fittingly named the Whomping Willow, Snape halted, still out of the reach of its branches. He glanced behind to make sure the three Aurors and a Slytherin boy were present, and that they weren't being followed. The tree had already given a handful of careless students a reason to visit infirmary, this probably was the reason why only very few people knew about the passage to the Shrieking shack. Severus intended to keep it that way.

He drew his trusty ebony wand and aimed it at the magical tree, using a nonverbal Freezing Charm to make the willow temporarily harmless. Snape crossed the remaining distance to the opening of the secret passage, securing his wand back into its coat inner pocket.

Severus then locked his glare on the Fifth year, "is there anything else you'd care to tell us?" Suddenly the wizard closed the distance between him and the boy, seizing him by the shoulders and giving him an intense shake, "how many Knights there are, anything suspicious, every detail could be vital." His voice was low and dangerous, the boy needed to realize they were all possibly risking their lives because of his questionable visions.

(OOC: Again, let me know if I should change anything. Hope this is alright.)

It was hot and humid, the grass moist and steaming from where it had rained just before the task, and Ian was walking briskly across the Bannishtar's meticulously kept lawn to keep pace with the adults, his pants and robes already heaving with moisture and sticking to his body. It was a very uncomfortable day for tasks ans battles to the death with dark wizards.

A ways away, at the pitch, Ian heard the roar of the crowd. Of course, Tinsley was on his mind, but he pushed her into the back of his consciousness. No time to dwell on his feelings. He'd have loved to stay behind and talk to her, seriously, about how he felt, but he was still haunted by a man in a mask, the looming shadow of him burned into his mind and body. The scene of his father's death, of Stanta's torture, still burned into his memory. He'd have loved to stay and love her, but men in masks were stoking the flames of chaos, and men with badges were desperately trying to smother fire. What else had they smothered? Where in a world of dueling extremes did something as basic and compromising as love have a place?

Of course, Ian didn't think in these terms, then. He felt it. Only later would he put his feelings to words. Only after the fact would looming horror and confusion become poetry.

A flash of lightning came from a distance, and thunder roared over the sound of the crowd. The wind was tossing around the branches of the trees, and though the breeze was welcome, the way the branches whipped about in it made them seem like dark creatures preparing to strike. The dark clouds moving fast over head completed the ominous scene.

At least one tree, though, wasn't whipping about due to the influence of the wind. The Whomping Willow had sensed the group of wizards growing nearer, and, as it always did, whipped about its branches, trying to strike at them even though they were not yet within range.

"Where's this shortcut?" Ian demanded, slightly out of breath, "Here? That's the Whomping Willow!" Ian had never been this close to the tree that attacked anything that moved within range of its branches, "Why are we here? I thought you said there was a shortcut! And come to think of it, why do we have a killer tree on the grounds of a school? We're wasting time he--"

Snape seemed to ignore Ian's protests, and, instead, froze the tree with a spell. Then, the temporary Professor merely walked up to the tree, and, for the first time, Ian noticed that there was an opening.

"Oh...I guess that's why..."

So the tree concealed a passage all along? Ian mused as he approached the opening. It's there to guard it?

But Snape stopped him before he could enter the hidden passageway. He locked his glare on the Fifth year, "is there anything else you'd care to tell us?" Suddenly the wizard closed the distance between him and the boy, seizing him by the shoulders and giving him an intense shake, "how many Knights there are, anything suspicious, every detail could be vital." His voice was low and dangerous, and Ian found his attention transfixed on the sallow, greasy, intense wizard. Transfixed and highly intimidated. Snape did not fool around.

"I...I...just Alphonse,"
said Ian, "I saw no others--other than my friends. And they weren't at the pitch, so I know...I know what I saw."

Auror

Tatyana flanked the boy's left, wand at the ready. Her head was kept in place, but her eyes rolled around its socket, though a little more restricted than Moody's whizzing eyeball. Her shoes were now getting heavier as it accumulated more mud, clinging to the base and concentrating at the heels. She cursed silently as her strides became slower, regretting her choice of clothing -- footwear, rather.

Her old professor was leading the small group, and had realized where they were destined before they even got there. She had done her fair share of undiscovered mischief, and the path to the Whomping Willow would be no stranger to any rule-breaker. She pretended to be dubious and played her charade as best as she could.

"Quiet boy, you might be heard," She told Ian, opening her lips as little as she could. She watched as the little-known secret entrance revealed itself, smiling to herself. How long has it been since that was opened? Had it been opened after her stay at Hogwarts? Had she been the last one to open it before now?

Tatyana was getting ready to enter the passageway, when suddenly the Potions master blocked their way in. She stayed rooted in her spot, ready to ask what was happening, but she was cut off by his questions to the boy.

"I...I...just Alphonse. I saw no others--other than my friends. And they weren't at the pitch, so I know...I know what I saw."

Tatyana darted her eyes to Snape. "We're going to have to trust the boy, Professor," said the Auror urgently. "We have wasted enough time. If there were children involved, we should hurry. We wouldn't want casualties, especially children,"

OOC: As always, let me know if you want something deducted/added.

Auror

Iris walked close to the boy on his right, flanking him like Tatyana had done. She gripped her wand steadily in her hand and kept a very watchful eye on the grounds around them. She felt like a cat, ready to pounce should anyone try to attack her or her charge. She had a look of fierceness about her, the kind of woman no one would want to cross.

Before she knew it they were coming to a stop and Severus was once again acting as group leader, taking control of the situation. Something about the man irked her, the way he was very obviously trying to dictate Ministry actions and the way he treated the boy with little to no respect. Her free hand found its way to Ian's shoulder.

"Tatyana is right. We need to go now. There is no time to waste with questions. Tatyana, myself and the rest of the Aurors were trained to be prepared for anything."

Iris slipped her hand back to Ian's shoulder blade and nudged him slightly forward, gliding smoothly past Severus.

"Shall we?"

Ian looked up at Snape with a mixture of defiance and pleading. Ian did not care for Tudor's patronizing of him. Not at all. Snape was treating the whole situation with an understandable urgency that caused him to be more than rude to Ian, but as far as Ian could see, Tudor was the only one treating him like a child. Still, she was also trying to get them into the shack as quickly as possible, which was what Ian wanted.

"Yeah,"
he said, "Can we just go?"

((OOC: Crap post. I'd go ahead and just GM us there but I don't want to GM anyone's responses. The next adult to post can GM us, I guess. I think I'll go ahead and make the thread as Alphonse though.))

Auror

Tatyana was getting edgier as they stayed out on the murky grounds, prolonging the wait and stretching the anxiety in the air like a taut wire. Being near the Whomping Willow did not ease the growing tension in the air, and the auror felt her eyes go moist.

"Alright, alright. Let's not push our luck too far, shall we? I thought there were lives at stake," jabbered Tatyana, as she went back to her previous place beside Ian. When everyone was back at their places, she tried to push the lump in her throat. "Alright there, Ian?" She asked, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. She dropped it immediately. "Professor Snape, please lead the way to the Shack, and Ian will take over from there. He knows where to find Alphonse," She winced, not wanting to address the man they were chasing as the boy's brother.

The group stepped into the small passageway leading to the Shrieking Shack, apprehension and the fear of the unknown intoxicating the after-rain air.

OOC: Someone else could godmode us into the Shack now.
