Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Addie's eyes widened, before narrowing, as none other than Julian Kahn revealed himself. Of all the things they could have run into in the forest, he was probably the worst possibility.

She still wasn't sure how Hellius had known he was there, she'd have to ask him about that later. At the moment, she had more important things to worry about. Addie tightened her grip on her wand.

"Out lurking in the dark Julian? I should have known." Addie remarked, moving away from the tree to show she wasn't afraid of him.

If we see a man glorifying his race, gender, or creed, we can understand there is nothing about himself that deserves glorification.

The voice was indistinguishable. A couple years ago Hellius would have been swallowing with envy and admiration, but now... he lacked the same sympathy. Now Julian was just another obstacle; just another hoop to jump through.

"Afraid of you? Though I'm sure you'd enjoy that..." Hellius sniffed swiftly a couple of times, continuing to the absorb the scent which loomed on the wind. Nonchalantly holding his wand hand to his side, Hellius pressed his shoulder against the trunk and flicked his tongue at his pin-sharp canines. "Not so much. Of that shitty cologne you're wearing? Yeah. That's... kinda bothering me."

I wonder, can they even smell it? It's so... obnoxious.

Slowly and calmly strolling to the back side of the tree so he was no longer in Julian's line of sight, Hellius sighed and closed his eyes. He let his mind fall blank and he focused solely on the cold, gentle touch of the darkness against his skin.

As the sensations overtook his body, Hellius slowly opened his eyes as they resisted. He rounded about the other side of the tree.

"Nightshade?" Hellius chuckled sardonically. "Mm, you assume that I give a bloody damn what he thinks."

He sighed, a forced sarcastic smile curved across his lips. "I'm sure he's off celebrating with fattening food, and contraband alcohol, and swooning jailbait."

Hellius shrugged and pressed his back to the tree. He glanced at Addie.

"Or maybe I'm wrong. All I know..." Hellius faced Julian and started to back off towards Addie. "Is that he's got something you don't."

Seeing Addie in his peripheral, Hellius stopped and pressed his shoulder against the nearest tree.

Julian took a step forward, wondering whether Hellius was more observant than Julian gave him credit for. "Oh really?" He sneered, "And what might that be?" Surla so often tried to give off the appearance of smug calmness.....it was maddening!

Addie had ignored the jab Julian had made about Tristan, but Hellius had responded to it. Addie turned her attention to Hellius as he backed toward her, frowning faintly at the things he was saying about Tristan. She'd never had any idea that Hellius had felt that way about him.

She met his gaze, his next comment almost seemed to be an apology for the things he'd just said. Addie returned her gaze to Julian, tensing as Hellius continued.

All I know... Is that he's got something you don't.

Her eyes widened slightly, darting back to Hellius. Was he honestly baiting him? This was a sore spot for Julian. There was no way that this was going to end well...

Hellius rolled his wand around in his fingers.

"I understand... that you and Nightshade have very... different upbringings. You have all the money you could ever need, you have received all of the material bullshit you've ever wanted, you get whatever pussy you crave. Am I right?"

Hellius slid along the tree trunk until his back was firmly pressed against the bark. He continued to stare at Julian. His posture was loose and relaxed, but he was still on edge.

"Oh, wait," Hellius slapped his forehead. "I'm not sure if the last one counts. I don't think I've ever seen a girl that wasn't a bimbo or an over-compensating slut lust after you at all.

"Interesting enough, I suppose."

He laughed mirthlessly, "You say that like it's a bad thing! Why would I want to take part in the high school melodrama that comes from being in a relationship? Do you think I'd enjoy being like all the other teen dramaqueens with their couple issues? If some girl doesn't respect herself enough to consider her actions, why should I respect her in return?" He spread his hands outward, shrugging his shoulders inquisitively, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, hey?" Once again he laughed cruelly as he knew such sentiments wouldn't bode well with Adeline.

"There was a time Hellius when I'd have put you in the same basket. Yet you've turned into a soft, marshmallowy loser. Didn't you used to enjoy the old you compared to this new pathetic version?" He had always had respect for Hellius as he certainly never played into the usual teen drama and angst like Nightshade and the rest of the losers. Hellius had shown a penchant for disaster and causing pain, not to mention an obvious talent for magic.

Addie rolled her eyes at Julian's comment, clearly disgusted by it. "And why does a girl lose respect if she sleeps around, but a guy doesn't? Frankly, I think you're just as much of a whore. I don't respect you one bit."

Addie scowled faintly, eyes darting between Hellius and Julian. Just how long was this encounter going to last? Silently she wondered whether it would escalate into a duel. She was tired from using her elementium, she wasn't sure if she could handle dueling at the moment.

"Well, better be ready for anything, just in case..."

"No, Julian. I say this not because I particularly enjoy mellow-drama, nor do I believe that you really give a shit about love, romance, or mutual respect. I realized a short time ago... no one was gonna give a shit when I was gone. All the power and money in the world can't help the memories of you."

Hellius crossed his arms and kicked a foot up; pressing the bottoms of his feet against the trunk of the tree.

"Not that you give a f*ck about that either. No biggie. The feeling's mutual."

He was growing tired of this back and forth and so made to leave, "Sticks and stones, love," he said to Addie in a cockney accent. "Don't stay out too late now. There's bad folk about." He chuckled cruelly as he headed back towards the castle.

The girl clenched her fists, glaring at the boy as he passed and left the forest. "I can't stand him." She murmured, turning her attention back to Hellius, walking over to him.

"How did you know he was there?"

"I... didn't," Hellius murmured, sniffing the air again, hesitantly stepping towards the breeze. "Do you smell it? It's a foul odor... Smells like death."

It was a smell Hellius remembered inhaling from many years ago in the forests surrounding the Surla Citadel. A bear and his meal. A steer; pretty much devoured to the bone. The only things remaining were the intestines, hanging out of the ribcage... with blood stained on the forest floor.

Crack!

Hellius jumped away from where the sound originated and pointed his wand towards the darkness. He reached out to the shadows and felt for all movements, waiting for anything, anyone, to reveal themselves.

"Are you tired?" Hellius shot a look back at Addie.

Addie couldn't help shuddering faintly at Hellius' comment. It smelled like death?

"I don't really smell anything.." Besides normal forest smells, how was he picking up on something else?

The girl moved closer to him, wand clutched in her hand. Was she tired?

Yes.

"I'm alright, don't worry."

Nodding at Addie, Hellius stepped toward where the sound originated; the foliage beneath him barely collapsing beneath his heels. The Gryffindor pressed his way past a few bushes, stalked over a couple of twigs, and, finally, when the gross odor almost consumed his nostrils to the point of complete disgust, Hellius found the source of the smell: a carcass, half eaten, probably by a were wolf or another beast of the night.

"Ohh, f*ck!" Hellius winced, plugging his nose and trotting back into the grassy clearing Addie and Hellius were standing in before. "Some...carcass. Smells like it's been rotting for a week or two."

Hellius spat all of the saliva that had been accumulating in his mouth. "Absolutely disgusting."

Addie frowned faintly, watching him move into the trees. The girl pressed her back into one of the trees behind her, gazing around nervously. Relief flooded through her as the boy returned safely.

"That's a little revolting... How did you smell it?" She asked curiously, making a face for a moment.

When Cole Abott was a small child, small enough not to know that the world wasn't perfect, she had very much enjoyed climbing trees. Abott Manor was full of beautiful old trees to climb and the young girl did just that. As she grew up she carried the habit with her, escaping to the highest branches when she needed to think or just get away from the harsh gaze of her mother. And now was the perfect time for a little climbing.

She had wedged herself between two branches and curled up like a cat, letting her eyes fall shut until she was just drifting with the ebb and flow of her thoughts. There was much to think about. She had been both praised and reprimanded at tea with the Knights and then been forced to swallow her pride as she watched Julian Kahn bask in all the glory they showered upon him. Before she knew it his velvet voice was ringing in her ears. And the voice of her newest adventure, Hellius. She lowered herself down a few branches, careful to remain shrouded in the shadows.

For whatever reason it irritated her that Hellius was trying to antagonize Kahn. It seemed harmless enough, but Julian really did deserve his praises. He had accomplished what she had dreamed of for so long now. Greatness. And perhaps it was some twisted maternal instinct, but as soon as he left Hellius and the girl she slid down onto the lowest branch of the tree. She swung down, holding onto the branch with her hands and carefully dropping to her bare feet just a few paces away from where Hellius and the girl were standing. She leaned against the trunk of the tree and folded her arms across her chest.

"Well. What an interesting scene we have here."

She stepped a foot closer to the girl and gently caressed her hair.

"New toy, Hellius? She doesn't look like the kind that would like it...rough."

Cole leaned in close to the girl's ear and growled the last word. Oh this was going to be fun. The perfect way to get rid of some built up energy.

"Well..." Hellius rubbed at the back of his head, scrunching his face. "Long story. Do you remember Constan--"

"Well. What an interesting scene we have here."

Hellius drew his wand from his waistband and turned his entire body -- wand, followed by hand, followed by arm, followed by shoulder -- towards the voice.

"...Cole?"

He frowned. Turning his head slightly as he stared at the girl, he dropped his arm and raised a brow.

Addie couldn't help jumping slightly. Hellius had been about to tell her something-something about Constanta by the sound of it-before he'd been cut off. Out of nowhere a Slytherin girl was beside her, caressing her hair, talking to Hellius and taunting her while doing so.

Addie shivered faintly, quickly stepping away from the girl and turning her wand on her. Just what had she been doing up in the trees?

The girl slipped away from her and Cole couldn't help but laugh. The sound was unnerving, too pleasant to be coming from such cruel lips. It was the laugh like bells or the sound of the ocean; it was comforting and charming and everything Cole was not. She grinned and jumped suddenly, grabbing on to another tree branch. She swung herself up, straddling the thick bark of the sturdy old tree. She laid against it, pressing her thin stomach against the surface. Her long blonde hair cascaded down like an ethereal waterfall in the air. It shimmered in the slight breeze.

"Aww, darling, don't be scared. I promise I won't bite."

She admired the pair from above and twisted onto her stomach.

"So, Hellius. Tell me. Am I not satisfying enough for you? Or do you really have to go slumming for other girls? Certainly this one couldn't keep your lust at bay. Besides, isn't she with that...well, I'll withhold any comments about Nightshade. For her sake."

She flashed a killer smile, sticky sweet, at the girl beneath her.

"Oh, speaking of which, weren't you just discussing him with my dear Julian? You know, maybe it is he I should be with and not you. What do you think of that, my love?"

Addie didn't like Cole Abott.

She was one of the Slytherin girls that gave her the creeps. Something behind all the glamour just screamed cruelty, and Addie didn't like it one bit.

"I'm not scared of you, I'd just rather you didn't touch me." Addie shrugged, watching the girl launch herself into the tree.

"And for the record, Hellius and I were just talking. Oh, and Tristan is a better guy than you could ever hope to get." Addie commented nonchalantly, frowning at the Slytherin as she brought Tristan into it.

"Especially if you'd consider doing anything with Kahn."

"Ow, Addie. That hurt," Hellius wallowed, still frowning in Cole's direction.

He kept his wand poised in her direction the entire time, but never actually pointed it directly at her. Hellius doubted that this confrontation would end well. Cole seemed like one of those girls that would latch her claws on you and never let go. Like a baby tarantula, she would bring you down regardless of whether or not she went down with you.

Hellius was almost worried, for Addie's sake.

"Last time I checked, I didn't give a shit, you didn't give a shit, and you were down and dirty within five minutes," Hellius growled, "Be with Kahn for all I care. Maybe he'll give you the AIDs he doesn't know he has and you'll both f*ck off and die."

I... Am I kidding?

Hellius snapped his wrist so his wand was now pointed directly at Cole's chest. "But that still begs the question: why are you here?"
