| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Banni stood in front of the class. "Here we've come to your final test," said the centaur, "For many of you, this may be your last class, so I would like to say it has been an honor to instruct you. Whether or not you plan on taking NEWT Divination, I implore you to do your best in your final examination. "Now," Banni continued, "We have three forms of fortune-telling that we will test on: Tea leaves, crystal balls, and dream interpretation. However, you need only choose one to be tested on. One by one I will need for you to come to me and select the discipline you would like to be tested on. Then, you will show me how much you know about them by reading me my fortune and I shall grade you on your..." The centaur looked over his shoulder at the M.L.E. agent that was observing the testing, then looked back at his class "...skill." The centaur smiled to his class. They were all in on a joke that the M.L.E. was oblivious to: Banni put little stock into these practices, and so he didn't care if they made it all up in their exam. |

!Xabbu was the first to step up. He picked up a crystal ball and walked over to the centaur, not sure what to think of the centaur's testing methods and obvious lack of respect for the material. (The bushman had a bit of respect for it because his grandmother often read fortunes for the other villagers). "Um," said !Xabbu, with unsure concentration, "I see...something...brown? Um...a glint of green...man? No. It is like a man...with a very bulbous nose...um..." |

The centaur arched an eyebrow. "Mr. Basarwa, I believe you are looking at my reflection in the crystal," said Banni dryly. The class laughed. Banni looked back at the M.L.E. agent, whose face remained stiff, though a muscle seemed to pop out of his neck, as if he were straining not to react. Banni struggled to hide his own smile as the boy walked off, looking embarrassed, and waited for the next student to appear. The boy needn't fret, though. As far as the centaur was concerned, this practical meant little, and the boy had easily gotten more than a passing grade on his written exam. "Next," said the centaur. ((OOC: Like that. Try to have some fun with it. I'd like someone else to choose a different discipline next time, however. If you would like to do dream interpretation, then post first with your student approaching Banni, and the centaur will tell you about his last dream.)) |

Jesse stepped up after !Xabbu. She stood in front of Banni, she was amused by Banni's lack of care for the Divination's Practical. She bent to the side, past Banni and looked at the M.L.E Examiner and chuckled quietly to herself. Jesse cleared her thought and said,"I would like to interpret your dream, Bannishtar." |

"Very well, then," said Banni. The centaur cleared his throat. "In my latest dream I was walking through the forest--that is, the forbidden forest--and I saw one of my fellows in the distance. The trees were tall, perhaps taller even than they are in reality, and though it was dark and foggy, I could see perfectly." The centaur's eyes glazed over as he recounted his dream, which he had not considered much since waking. Only now did it somehow seem important. "My fellow ran off, and I gave chase. I seemed to fly through the trees without touching them. As I ran, the trees seemed to transform. They were no longer trees, but shadowy shapes of very large pikes. Some had become the dark shapes of swords stuck blade-first into the ground. Still, I gave chase, until at last I found my fellow in the clearing. He stopped. I realized, though I knew it was impossible, that the face that belonged to this unknown of my fellows was a centaur by the name of Magorian. Magorian had died two years previously, during the Red Cap attack. I could see his face because he was carrying one of those horns, like that of a bison. The horn had fire inside of it, as that was the purpose that such horns were often put towards. He looked at me, then he ran past." Banni's mind was in a faraway place, a place where he recounted his dream with extreme detail. Mentally, he was no longer in the forested classroom. "Then," said the centaur, "I woke up." |

She thought he didn't care how the students replied but just then Banni looked like he needed a serious result. Biting her tongue she took her time to think it out, gazing in the sky listening carefully to Banni's words. "Then I woke up." Jesse, doing the best she can straightened up and spoke reluctantly. "The, uh, dream meant that forbidden forest isn't safe anymore? The fog was there although you could see through it was a sign that danger is placed within the forest but you don't see it, the danger I mean. Umm. When you saw the centur. Magorian. And when he went past you and ran off, this meant that your chasing the old ways of the centur? Er, Magorian ran because following the old ways were a bad thing? The tall, shadowy trees that transformed into spikes, I mean pikes, meant that danger was heightening and even the trees aren't to be trusted. The bison with the fire means that there would be light in the dark. The forest being evil, the horn fire thing shows that there is hope in regaing the forest's beauty?" Jesse looked arkward giving him an insight of what she thought about the dream. She thought it was going to be an hilarious one, but she thought wrong. She frowned, she went for a laugh but ended up in an eerie atmosphere. OOC: did i get the plot right? im not sure if it was with the plot :S Edited by Jesse Desmount, Jun 9 2010, 08:48:12 AM.

Though now troubled by the recount of his own dream, the centaur listened patiently to Ms. Desmount's interpretation. Though the centaur got the sense that she was making her interpretations as she went along, he nevertheless thought perhaps there might be something to what she was saying. The centaurs did not believe that dreams were messages from the beyond. They were merely the byproduct of your mind's attempts to sort out the cacophony of ideas screaming around in your head as you sleep. Though this rarely ever made the din any more cohearant, it nevertheless meant that dreams were not altogether insignificant. And Ms. Desmount had guessed more than she probably knew. It was time. "Thank you, Ms. Desmount," said the centaur, showing her a smile through all that he was thinking and feeling, "Next student please?" ((OOC: Anyone else wishing to do dream interpretation again will use the same dream so I don't have to repeat it. However, let's see some variety, so, if at all possible, please choose a different discipline until we've been through them all at least once.)) |

Savannah walked up to the professor and poured herself a cup of tea. Not only would she be able to enjoy a lovely drink before doing her practical exam, it seemed that the professor didn't mind whether or not the OWL was taken seriously. Once finished her drink, Savannah swished what little liquid was left to swirl the tea leaves around. Once... twice... three times the cup twirled. Looking into the cup, Savannah saw images made with the leaves directly instead of an outline onto the white porcelane. "Hmm... I'm seeing a negative reading." Savannah started out. She would at least make it look like she knew what she was doing, even if she was regurgitating the textbook step by step. The leaves' pattern was hard to interpret... Savannah picked animals since she'd spent the most time learning their meanings. "I think I see an alligator and crab fighting. There is a belt with a big buckle between them.... Er. So an enemy and tretchery is occuring with disappointment ahead? That, or avoid the seafood gumbo for dinner tonight." Savannah added to lighten the reading she had made. Smiling weakly, Savannah moved away so another student could have their turn. |
