Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Career Advice - Gweneve Primus; Year 5 - Day 8 - Career Advisory Day

Gweneve Primus
Dave's future current lover

The hall way was almost silent as Eve walked briskly to Bannishtar's classroom. Her footsteps were the only noise being made, along with the quiet murmurs of other students in the classrooms.
She felt a little irritated at the lack of studying she had gotten done. It was unfair that other students were allowed to act like five year old's and suffer no repercussions. But, life was completely unfair and those were thoughts for this evening while she was laying in bed trying to sleep.
She reached the classroom, and listened at the door not hearing anyone. Eve knocked twice on the door, and folded her arms waiting to be summoned into the room.

It didn't take long, the door was soon opened and she greeted her Head of House and walked past him to sit herself in one of the comfortable armchairs he had placed around the classroom.

"Ah," said the centaur, "come in, Miss Primus."

As the Gryffindor girl seated herself, the centaur fished her file from the cabinet.

"Now, before we go over your grades," said the centaur, "what is it that you would like to accomplish in your last two years at school. In what fields do your interests lie?"

Gweneve watched as her Head of House pulled her file from the cabinet behind him.

"what is it that you would like to accomplish in your last two years at school. In what fields do your interests lie?"

"Well." Eve looked at the ceiling above her and thought for a moment. She was unsure of which classes she would take for her chosen path, but luckily she was sure Bannishtar would know the answers. She knew her grades were good. As a transfer student she had been exactly on par with the rest of the students, so she knew, as long as she passed her OWLs with flying colors, then whichever classes she wanted to take in the upcoming years would be no problem at all. "I have done a lot of thinking over the years, and would like to be a Curse Breaker..." Eve smiled a little, hoping she didn't sound like a fool for wanting to be something so dangerous. "I'm not sure all of what I will have to do though to become one.."

(OOC: I do not think I got your grades. Please PM them to me)

"Curse breaker...hm...well," Bannishtar mentally reviewed what he'd studied on the subject, "I think the best place for Curse Breakers to find employment is at Gringotts. The Goblins often send out human wizards to find treasure for them, much of which is sealed behind a number of ancient enchantments in faraway places like Egypt. Its really supposed to be a lot of travel and excitement...and a lot of digging in the dirt.

"The Goblins can make money all they want, but economy is a tricky thing, and if they don't have enough treasure, the value of gold coins will only decrease when they make more."

The centaur found the whole currency thing to be ridiculous. Entire nations and communities are brought up or brought low by some imaginary value placed on a piece of metal--a value that fluctuates based on the finicky opinions of men. Do they not realize how easy it would be to doom themselves and others on a whim?

"Ancient Runes is a must of course," said the centaur, "The practice of using glyphs as a means for enchantment has gone out of style in recent years, but many old enchantments still employ symbols and words of power.

"Of course, another option is in Magical Law. The M.L.E. employs a squad of Curse Breakers for the odd criminal well-versed enough in ancient magics to employ Ancient Runes for defense...or as weapons.

"Either way, you'll need a N.E.W.T. in both Ancient Runes and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Muggle Studies is a good class for those seeking a job as a Curse Breaker for Gringotts. Old Muggle superstitions, I hear, are sometimes good sources of clues on the whereabouts of real ancient magics, often hidden right under the noses of the uninitiated.

"Your Ancient Runes Professor takes only the best, of course. You'll need an Outstanding on your Ancient Runes OWL to advance to NEWT year. Professor Stuart is a little more lenient. You'll only need an Acceptable to get into her NEWT Defense class.

"Transfiguration and Charms are never a poor choice for almost any profession. Professor Aphelion requires an E to get into NEWT Transfiguration, while Sister St. Claire wants her students to get at least and A on the theory, and an E in the practical exam.

"Astronomy is also good, though not explicitly required. Some runes, as you've probably already learned, and their powers are closely linked with the movements of the planets. Knowledge of these might be of great help not only for impressing a potential employer, but also once you're actually on the field. You'll only need an A to get into NEWT level, and that's not asking much.

"And one last subject is good for both practical applications and for impressing an employer into giving you a job: Magical Theory. The subject is broad and often deals with the theory behind magic and enchantments, so its of great use to someone dealing with enchanted items on a daily basis. Professor Tortal only asks that you make an A on the OWL to be allowed in his class."

It was a lot of information packed into one session, and Eve was not astounded that becoming a Curse Breaker would take so much work. It was a difficult career path and she was certain that Gringotts would only take the best and sharpest of wizards and witches. She was aware of the economy and the risks of that certain choice of career, but it was her dream job and as long as she was happy then that would be all that mattered. Also, taking home lots of treasure was a plus.

"So, I would need to continue Muggle Studies?" She inquired. She had never really enjoyed the subject, but it was a sacrifice she would have to take to stay on her chosen path.
