Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Criselda tapped the door once before pushing the door a little to see if Bannishtar was doing anything. When she saw that he was ready for her, she made her way to his desk and sat on the students' seat in front of him. Criselda folded her hands on her lap and looked at him. She took a deep breath. "Good morning, sir." She said clearly, and smiled at her Divination professor. She waited for him to acknowledge her as she thought of possible questions and answers.

This wasn't going to be easy.

"Good Morning, Miss Parkinson," said Banni. Having done this a few times now, he knew enough to promptly begin searching for the file marked "Parkinson, Criselda".

He noted the girl's trepidation and gave her a reassuring smile, as he'd done several times so far that day. Most of his Fifth Years seemed to be nervous. He had been, too, of course.

"How are you?" he asked, opening her folder and examining her grades.

"Now," he said, "before we go into your academic record, I need to know what it is you might have considered doing after you graduate."

((OOC: Please PM me your grades for all the subjects you are taking (even if we don't RP those subjects), so that Banni can give you proper advice.))

Criselda smiled back when her Divination professor smiled at her, thinking that maybe it was just the process that wasn't going to be easy. She took this as a sign that he wasn't going to make things harder for her. Hopefully.

"I am..." nauseous, cold and anxious "...feeling a little pressure, to be honest, sir." Criselda smiled shyly. It wasn't like her to acknowledge her weakness, and she felt very self-conscious.

Criselda cleared her throat once and straightened her skirt as she answered. "I am considering a job at the Ministry, sir, in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, or anything Muggle-related, actually." She added, feeling her heart racing.

"I am considering a job at the Ministry, sir, in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, or anything Muggle-related, actually."

Banni kept his face blank, resisting the urge to frown. His reaction would have been to say "what Ministry?" but he held his tongue. Of course, one would hope that the Ministry would later be rebuilt. Yet, after the centaur's meeting with Hellius Surla, Banni was starting to think that all this process was really good for was creating the illusion that things were somehow going to go back to normal, which didn't seem likely.

Still, if there was going to be a Ministry in the future, and that Ministry was going to have need someone to liase with and look out for the interests of Muggles, then Banni felt that Criselda was as good a person as any to do the job.

"Well," said the centaur, "Working with muggles, you say? Well, I can't say I've ever met a muggle, though I figure they're just like you, only without the wooden sticks to wave around. In any case, most of the jobs you'd want that deal with Muggles only require an N.E.W.T. in Muggle Studdies--and some, like the Muggle Liason Office only require an O.W.L. in that subject. You're already doing quite well enough, I think, in that subject to garner yourself entry to N.E.W.T.-level Muggle Studies if you keep your grades up. You only need an A to pass on to the next level."

"The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, however, has a few more requirements. You'll be doing a lot of dispelling of enchanted objects, so you will need to be well-versed in charms, as well as counter-curses and defensive spells. Because of that, you'll need to earn N.E.W.T. level in Charms. Sister St. Claire requires only an Acceptable for the theoretical portion, but asks that you be more proficient in actually casting these spells. As such, you'll need an Exceeds Expectation on the practical portion to be accepted into her N.E.W.T. level. You're averaging about an E in her class, so I don't think that will be a problem.

"As for Defense, you only need an Ordinary Wizarding Level certification to be considered, but I have been told that it looks better on an application to have N.E.W.T. level, so I suggest you try and meet the standards to get in. Professor Stuart requires her N.E.W.T.-level students to have achieve an A on their O.W.L.s, though, I do believe she has relaxed her standards in order to allow into her class more students concerned about their own defense in these troubled times. Also, she's a very understanding person, I do not believe you will have any trouble getting into her N.E.W.T. class.

"Magic Concepts also looks good, because the subject is so broad and because it delves deep into the heart of magic, it looks good on almost any application. This might shock you, but Professor Tortal only requires an Acceptable grade to get in. I would have thought he'd want to weed out the students who simply stare at him and pretend to understand what he's saying during his class--then again, plenty of my students do the same, and I only require an 'A' grade as well."

When he finished detailing the requirements of the careers Miss Parkinson had mentioned, Banni gave her some pamphlets with further information on her prospective fields, as well as other career choices that Banni thought she might be interested in.

Of course, if things didn't simply "return to normal" in the future, then all of her achievement would be for naught, wouldn't it? What use is meeting the requirements of a system that no longer exists? Still, just because the institution no longer existed in the form that Miss Parkinson knew it, didn't mean that her education in that field wouldn't help her to be useful to her society in a similar role. Perhaps when things were all said and done, and Azariah had been cast into the pit of Tartarus where he belonged, the world would need someone like Criselda Parkinson; someone who wanted to take up the role of assisting muggle-wizard relationships. Someone would have to do it, even if there was no Ministry.

"Now," said the centaur, "Do you have any more questions? Anything else you want to know?"

((OOC: If not, then feel free to leave, though I do not mind if you wish to continue this RP. We changed the rules so there would be no rush for this. I simply do not know what else there is to say, so if Criselda does, then go for it.))

Criselda sat quietly in her chair, listening to Bannishtar as he filled her with details about her chosen field. A frown creased her forehead as she tried to remember everything he said, feeling guilty for every second she spent slacking off her weakest subjects. She adjusted herself in her seat and cleared her throat.

"It is a little surprising that Professor Tortal only requires an Acceptable, sir... But other than that, I have no other concerns."Except that maybe I could fail in his class. Criselda sighed dismissingly and smiled at Bannishtar. "Just one more er, question, sir. If ever I have questions in the future, may I still come back and address them to you?" Criselda asked shyly as she straightened her skirt and prepared to stand up.

OOC: Criselda has no particular questions, except the last one. You may let her out after you address that. It's just in her character to sometimes ask what she thinks is important. :)

Banni wanted, of course, to say that he would always be here to give guidance where he could. After all, that is what good he had felt he could do in this world, ever since he'd become a Professor. But the looming threat of what he felt he must inevitably do weighed heavily in his mind. The centaur knew that it was not in his nature to follow a leader that did not prove himself to be effective in keeping peace and prosperity, and that it was in his nature as a centaur to shun and ignore any false-leader who attempted to grasp at power. Banni had told Mr. Surla to be true to himself, and so Banni must do the same.

The truth was, Bannishtar did not think he had long to remain on the school grounds. Professor Sneckenberg had already met with the consequences of defying Barrabas DuMaine. Banni knew that he was next, the fact that he was a member of a race that displayed emnity towards humans was only a part of it.

"As long as I remain your Head of House, teacher here at Hogwarts, or lowly groundskeeper," said Banni, speaking as much truth as he dared, "then I will be here to offer guidance where I may. That is why I became a teacher and a Head of House, after all.

"Now," said the centaur, returning to an official tone of voice, "If I'm not teaching, you can generally find me out on the grounds, tending to the flora and fauna that live there. If I am not there, however, then I am most likely in the forest, where no student may follow. I go to speak with my former heard when it is convenient for them. Is that all you needed, Miss Parkinson?"

Criselda's face lit up as he told her he'd still be willing to help, but was confused about what he said next. "What do you mean, sir? You're not going, are you?" Talk about asking too many questions and being completely clueless. Criselda creased her forehead a little, feeling curious. But it wasn't her place to bother about things she has no say in.

"Er yes, sir. That would be all." Criselda stood up slowly before nodding politely to her Head of House and leaving his Office.

OOC: I know I left a question hanging, but you may godmode your answer and her reaction in your next post. But if you don't want to, it's okay. :)
