Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice
Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Divination O.W.L. Review (Complete); Your Guide to the Often Misguided Views of Human Diviners

Listed here is everything we were forced to cover in a single year due to the...strict standards of the school's governing board. Note that you shall be tested on three broader subjects: Different kinds of Fortune-telling practices (with a brief description), Astrology (Planetary bodies and the twelve houses of the Zodiac), and the meanings of symbols and interpretations found in dreams, tea leaves, and crystal balls. Your practical exam will concern only the final two, where you shall interpret the examiner's (who, it appears, shall be myself) fortune by reading tea leaves and a crystal ball.

Before you fret too much, please note that you will not be tested on ALL of this, but as my exam uses few multiple choice questions, you may be asked to make brief lists of things you know about each subject. This is merely here to give you much to draw on. Hopefully, some of it will stick.

Remember that you only need an "A" to move on to NEWT level in my class. Normally, my standards would be higher, but we have been forced to cover a large amount of material in a short amount of time, so I give you all some leeway.

Much luck on your exam.

Astrology
((In comparison to Centaur methods of Astrology, those devised by humans, as taught in Unfogging the Future, are more centered around the fates of individuals. In other words, as it is with most of these Divination practices, it is fortune-telling. As such, it is quite difficult to get an concrete reading from the meanings of the different stars, planets and houses of the heavens. We centaurs are well aware of the potential for grave misinterpretation. I will be frank and make it clear that we centaurs believe that Human Diviners' main failings are in that they do not openly admit the limitations of their art.))

((Also note that the house in which each heavenly body is listed as ruling is the house (or houses) accepted by modern human Astrologists and Diviners. There is a more ancient notion of house rulership, one that the centaurs uphold as the true order of the universe. The list of planets beginning with Uranus were discovered in relatively recent times by humans, and are therefore not part of Centaur Astrology, which is more similar to ancient human astrology--with only a few celestial bodies having been discovered by my people before the humans. As such, the "modern" planets, as we shall call them, are often "co-rulers" of their Houses along with the more ancient celestial bodies. We shall cover those subjects in my NEWT classes. Other celestial bodies and recent discoveries by human sky-seers shall be covered when we are forced to return to the subject of Fortune-Telling in Seventh Year.))

Listed here are the names of the various planets, heavenly bodies, their mythic origin in terms of Roman, Greek, and Hindu origins (for all three cultures have made an effort to map the stars, and therefore assigned the heavenly bodies the names of their gods), and their meanings in relation to Fortune-telling Astrological Practices, as well as the astrological house which they rule (for more information, see the section detailing the twelve houses of the zodiac).

Sun (Posted Image)

Roman: Sol/Apollo - Solar incarnation
Greek: Ἥλιος (Helios)/Ἀπέλλων (Apollon)- Golden god of Prophecy. The Sun God.
Hindu: सूर्य (Surya) - Son of Aditi and Kashyap

Represents: The conscious ego, the self and its expression, personal power, pride and authority; leadership qualities; creativity (enterprises that are a projection of the person, such as art and business, or having children--especially fatherhood). Health, vitality, and life force. Sport and recreation; holidays and social events.

Ruler of the Fifth House (Leo)

The Sun is the star at the center of our solar system, around which the Earth and other planets revolve, and which provides us with heat and light. The sun travels through the twelve signs of the zodiac on its annual journey, spending about a month in each. The Sun's position on a person's birthday therefore determines what is usually called his or her 'star' sign; this makes sense because the sun itself is a star.

In Chinese astrology, the Sun represents Yang, the active, assertive masculine life principle. In Indian astrology, the Sun is called Surya and represents the soul, kingship, highly placed persons, father.

Moon (Posted Image)

Roman: Luna/Diana - Moon goddess
Greek: Σελήνη (Selene)/Ἄρτεμις (Artemis) - Goddess of the Hunt
Hindu: चंद्र (Chandra) - Always found feathered on the head of Lord Shiva

Ruler of the Fourth House (Cancer)

Represents: Impatience of human nature. A person's emotional make-up, unconscious habits, rhythms, memories and moods, and their ability to react and adapt to those around them. The mother, maternal instincts or the urge to nurture, the home, the need for security, and the past, especially early experiences and childhood.

The Moon is the Earth's companion satellite, though some astrologers believe that it approaches being a planet in its own right. The Moon is large enough for its gravity to affect the Earth, stabilizing its orbit and producing the regular ebb and flow of the tides. The Moon is familiar to us for its different phases, waxing and waning in appearance in an unchanging cycle. The Moon orbits the earth in about 28 days, spending a fleeting 2.33 days in each of the signs of the zodiac.

In Chinese astrology, the Moon represents Yin, the passive, receptive feminine life principle. In Indian astrology, the Moon is called Chandra or Soma and represents the mind, queenship, and mother.

Mercury (Posted Image)

Roman: Mercury - The messenger-god.
Greek: ʽἙρμῆς (Hermes) - A planet god known for his intelligence.
Hindu: बुध (Budha) - Presides over merchants and business.

Represents: Communication, mentality, thinking patterns, rationality and reasoning, and adaptability and variability. Governs schooling and education. Information gathering skills. Physical Dexterity.

Ruler of the Third (Gemeni) and Sixth (Virgo) Houses

In Roman mythology Mercury is the messenger of the gods, noted for his speed and swiftness. Echoing this, the scorching, airless world Mercury circles the sun on the fastest orbit of any planet. Mercury takes only 88 days to orbit the sun, spending about 7.33 days in each sign of the zodiac. Mercury is so close to the sun that only a brief period exists after the sun has set where it can be seen with the naked eye, before following the sun beyond the horizon.

Mercury is the messenger of the gods in mythology, that's why it is the messenger in Astrology as it is in Mythology. It is the planet of day-to-day expression and relationships. Mercury's action is to take things apart and put them back together again. It is an opportunistic planet, decidedly unemotional and curious

In Chinese astrology, Mercury is ruled by the element water which is diplomatic, kind and intuitive. In Indian astrology, Mercury is called Budha, a word related to Buddhi ("intelligence") and represents communication.

Venus (Posted Image)

Roman: Venus - Goddess of romance
Greek: Ἀφροδίτη (Aphrodite) - Goddess of Romance
Hindu: शुक्र (Shukra) - The mentor of Asuras. Always helped demons in the war against gods

Represents: Fertility and enthusiasm; love and beauty. Harmony, balance, the feelings and affections, and the urge to sympathize and unite with others; the desire for pleasure, sensuality, personal possessions, comfort and ease. Governs romantic relationships, business partnerships, marriage and sexuality. The arts, fashion and social life.

Ruler of the Second (Taurus) and Seventh (Libra) Houses

Venus is the goddess of love and beauty, famous for the passions she could stir among the gods. In the same way, the calm, beautiful surface of white clouds that the planet Venus presents hides its hot, dense atmosphere and intense volcanic activity. Venus orbits the sun in 225 days, spending about 18.75 days in each sign of the zodiac. Venus is the second brightest object in the night sky, the moon being the brightest.

In Chinese astrology, Venus is associated with the element metal (or gold), which is unyielding, strong and persistent. In Indian astrology, Venus is known as Shukra and represents wealth, pleasure and reproduction. In Norse Paganism, the planet is associated to Freyja, the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility.

Mars (Posted Image)

Roman: Mars - The God of War
Greek: Ἀρης (Ares) - The God of War
Hindu: मंगल (Mangal) - The Son of Earth

Represents: War. Bloodshed. Strength. The unluckiness of brides (if Mars shines bright upon a Hindu bride's wedding day). Confidence and self assertion, aggression, sexuality, energy, strength, ambition, and impulsiveness. Governs sports, competitions and physical activities in general. Fear, pain, and trauma.

Ruler of the First House (Aeries) and Co-Ruler of the Eighth House (Scorpio) along with Pluto.

Mars is the Roman god of war and bloodshed, whose symbol is a spear and shield (from which its glyph is derived). Both the soil of Mars and the hemoglobin of human blood are rich in iron, and because of this they share its distinct deep red color. Mars orbits the sun in 687 days, spending about 57.25 days in each sign of the zodiac. It is also the first planet that orbits outside of Earth's orbit making it the first planet that doesn't set along with the sun.

In Chinese astrology, Mars is ruled by the element fire, which is passionate, energetic and adventurous. In Indian astrology, Mars is called Mangala and represents energy, confidence and ego.

Jupiter (Posted Image)

Roman: Jupiter - Means "Sky Father"
Greek: Ζεύς (Zeus) - Leader of the gods
Hindu: गुरू, बृहस्पती (Guru, Brihaspati) - Mentor of the gods. Always helped in war against the demons.

Represents: The principles of growth, expansion, prosperity and good fortune; a person's inner sense of justice and morality and their ideals and higher goals. Governs long distance and foreign travel, higher education, religion and the law. Freedom and exploration, humanitarian and protecting roles; gambling and merrymaking.

Ruler of the Ninth (Sagittarius) and Twelfth (Pisces) Houses.

In Roman mythology Jupiter is the ruler of the gods (having overthrown Saturn) and their guardian and protector, and his symbol is the thunderbolt. In the same way, the planet Jupiter is the king of the other planets, a giant in size with spectacular, brightly colored clouds and intense storms. Astronomers believe that it plays an important protecting role in using its massive gravity to capture or expel from the solar system many comets and asteroids that would otherwise threaten Earth and the inner planets. Jupiter takes 11.9 years to orbit the sun, spending almost an earth year (361 days) in each sign of the zodiac.

In Chinese astrology, Jupiter is ruled by the element wood, which is warm, generous and co-operative. In Indian astrology, Jupiter is known as Guru or Brihaspati and is known as the 'great teacher'.

Saturn (Posted Image)

Roman: Saturn - God of Agriculture
Greek: Κρόνος (Kronos) Overthrown by Zeus
Hindu: शनि (Shani) - God of "Duty". Punishes the person who does not do his duty properly. Shani tests a person every 22.5 years; the test lasts for a period of 7.5 years

Represents: The principles of limitation, restrictions, boundaries, practicality and reality, crystallizing and structures. Governs ambition, career, authority and hierarchy, and conforming social structures. Sense of duty, discipline and responsibility; physical and emotional endurance during hardships. Associated with long-term planning.

Ruler of the Tenth House (Capricorn) and Co-Ruler of the Eleventh House (Aquarius) along with Uranus.

In Roman mythology Saturn is the god of agriculture, founder of civilizations and of social order and conformity. The glyph is most often seen as scythe-like but it is primarily known as the "crescent below the cross", whereas Jupiter's glyph is the "crescent above the cross". The famous rings of the planet Saturn that enclose and surround it, reflect this principle of man's limitations. Saturn takes 29.5 years to orbit the sun, spending about 2.46 years in each sign of the zodiac.

Of principle interest is the notion that the "return of Saturn" marks particular milestones in the lives of individuals. It is believed that when Saturn "returns" to the house in which an individual was born, that person is about to undergo an drastic and important change in their lives.

In Chinese astrology, Saturn is ruled by the element earth, which is patient, hard-working and reliable. In Indian astrology, Saturn is called Shani or "Sani", and represents career and longevity. It is also the bringer of bad luck and hardship.

Uranus (Posted Image)

Roman: Caelus - God of the Sky
Greek: Ουρανός (Uranos) - Means "Sky"
Hindu: वासुकी, वासव (Vasuki) - Mythological snake king in Indian Puranas (ancient folklore).

Represents: Principles of genius, individuality, new and unconventional ideas, discoveries, electricity, and inventions. Governs societies, clubs and any group dedicated to humanitarian or progressive ideals. Uranus, the planet of sudden and unexpected changes, rules freedom and originality. In society it rules radical ideas and people, as well as revolutionary events that upset established structures.

Co-Ruler of the 11th House (Aquarius) with Saturn

In Greek mythology Uranus is the personification of the heavens and the night sky. The planet Uranus is very unusual among the planets in that it rotates on its side, so that it presents each of its poles to the sun in turn during its orbit, so that one hemisphere is bathed in light, while the other lies in total darkness. These strange traits reflect its astrological significance as the breaker of convention. Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the sun, spending about 7 years in each sign of the zodiac.

Neptune (Posted Image)

Roman: Neptune - God of the Sea
Greek: Ποσειδῶν (Poseidon) - God of the Sea
Hindu: वरुण (Varuna) - God of Rain

Represents: Idealism and compassion, but also illusion, confusion and deception; religions, spirituality and mysticism, creativity in art and music, drugs, extreme sensitivity, fantasy and imagination, psychic phenomena and altered mental states. Neptune governs hospitals, prisons, mental institutions, and any place, such as a monastery, that involves a retreat from society.

Co-Ruler of the Twelfth House (Pisces) with Jupiter.

In Roman mythology Neptune is the god of the sea, and the deep, ocean blue color of the planet Neptune reflects this. Its glyph is taken directly from Neptune's trident. Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun, spending approximately 14 years (13.75) in each sign of the zodiac.

Pluto (Posted Image)

Roman: Pluto/Orcus - God of the Underworld (Pluto means "Wealth")
Greek: Πλούτων (Pluton)/Ἅιδης (Hades) - God of the Underworld (Hades means "Unseen"
Hindu: कुबेर (Kubera) - God of Wealth

Represents: Death and Renewal; Wealth and Poverty; power and personal mastery and the need to co-operate and share with another. Governs big business and wealth, mining, surgery and detective work, and any enterprise which involves digging under the surface to bring the truth to light. Also associated with extreme power and corruption. Regenrative forces. Deconstruction of the 'normal' view of the world and reassembling it in new and sometimes disturbing ways.

Co-ruler of the 8th House (Scorpio) with Mars.

In Roman mythology Pluto is the god of the underworld and of wealth, hence the coin-and-chalice glyph. Pluto and its moon Charon form a unique pairing in the solar system because Charon is so massive relative to Pluto. This means that they revolve in a 'dumbbell' formation around a common point in space lying between them, permanently locked in a 'power struggle' for dominance. This is symbolic of the role Pluto has come to represent astrologically. Pluto takes 248 years to orbit the sun, spending on average approximately 21 years (20.6) in each sign of the zodiac. However, Pluto's orbit is so eccentric that this can vary dramatically, from 25 years in Cancer (1913–1938) to a mere 12 years in Scorpio (1983–1995), when its orbit was actually closer to the sun than Neptune's.

Astrologically Pluto is called "the great renewer", and is considered to represent the part of a person that destroys in order to renew, through bringing buried, but intense, needs and drives to the surface and expressing them, even at the expense of the existing order. A commonly used keyword for Pluto is "transformation".

((More subjects covered in subsequent posts. This is the longest one by far and I promise the next sections will be much shorter. Again, you will not be tested on all of this, but this will give you a wealth of knowledge to draw on for the exam.))

Twelve Signs of the Zodiac
((As with the planets, while many of the attributes associated with the zodiac
signs are the same in both Mystic (practiced by humans) and Mundane (practiced by centaurs) astrology. The difference is that Mystic Astrology applies those attributes to individuals in an art known as fortune-telling, whereas Mundane Astrology applies the movements of the sun in the twelve houses and the planets associated with them to predict and understand the events happening in the broader world and universe. As your OWL will be over only human methodology, we will examine the beliefs of the former.))

((Each sign is known as an astrological "house" and that "house" is active when the sun resides within the area of that sign's constellation. For instance, if the sun is within the constellation Aries, then it is in the 1st house. According to human fortune-telling, when someone is born, whatever house the sun is located in at the time of their birth determines their "sign" and therefore their personality and their compatibility with others. So, if you are born when the sun is in the constellation Aeries, then you are an "Aeries" or extroverted personality, according to that belief.))

((The art of determining compatibility by astrological sign, known as "Synastry" will be covered for you NEWT examinations in 7th year.))

Natures, Qualities, and Classifications of Zodiac Signs

- The Four Elements (Each zodiac sign is associated with an element. Fire and Air signs are considered positive or extrovert, masculine signs; while Water and Earth signs are considered negative, introvert, feminine signs.)
* Fire - (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) - The Fire signs exhibit righteousness. These people conform to the standard of moral law. They do what is right and are known for their sense of fair play. They are truthful, straight-forward, just, upright and virtuous in their dealings with other men. The Fire signs are the true warriors. They demonstrate courage, fortitude, zeal and pugnacity. They have the mental and moral strength that enables them to venture into unknown waters and to persevere and withstand danger. They seldom show fear and are confident in their actions. They have mettle, resolution, and tenacity. They can face danger or difficulty without flinching or retreating. They will fight for their principles and have a stubborn persistence that is unwilling to recognize defeat. They have grit, back bone, guts, and are willing to keep fighting under all odds. They are aggressive and thrive on challenge. The Fire signs are of a spiritual nature. They have a nature that gives them physical energy, strength and vital powers. Their essential characteristic qualities are liveliness, energy, ardor, enthusiasm, courage and action. They have a firm, courageous and assertive disposition which is their most characteristic quality. The emotional nature of the Fire sign is goal oriented. These people like to win or be the best in anything they pursue. Their aggressive nature makes them just one big ego. There is nothing more stimulating to them than to win, and there is nothing more depressing to their ego than to lose. They strive to be the center of attention and are at home when showing-off. They are straight-forward and have no reservations about hurting the feelings of others by their forthrightness. The main virtue of this sign is being just and right.

* Earth - (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) - The Earth signs show propriety. They are conventional, proper and fitting. They follow what is socially acceptable in conduct, behavior and speech. They have excellent manners and are very polite. They are prudent and have a deep regard for conventional rules of behavior. The Earth signs by nature are merchants. They are the storekeepers, barterers and traders. They are at their best when buying or selling material or tangible commodities. Most are very business oriented. The Earth signs have a physical nature. They have a characteristic love for the material, tangible things. They derive pleasure from sensory stimulation such as taste, smell and feel. They surround themselves with tangible and material tems such as fine furniture, art and jewelry, most have a nice home that is meticulous and expertly decorated. They have good taste in clothing as most are connoisseurs of food and drink. The Earth signs emotions are aroused by sensory stimulation. Each of the five senses can produce an emotional response. Sight, sound, touch, smell and taste brings both joy or depression. Nice peaceful surroundings, lively music, quality crafted materials, pleasant smelling tasty foods as well as financial security are all conditions required for an emotionally happy stable Earth sign. Earth signs are normally not prone to physical violence, however, as in any situation, there are exceptions, and at times they can be mildly revengeful. They strongly believe in (karma) and can hold a grudge if treated unfairly. They will eventually get their revenge one way or another more often by hitting a person in his or her pocketbook. When angered, Earth signs, similar to the Fire and Air signs, are quick to express that anger verbally though most likely not physically unless as a last resort.

* Air - (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) - The Air signs possess the virtue of knowledge. This does not mean they are more intelligent than anyone else but are generally well rounded and informed. They are good communicators. Most have a good grasp of the language and generally know a little something about everything - they can communicate well on any subject under discussion because they are so well read and learned. They have good personalities and are easy to get to know. The Air signs are what the philosophers called seers or priests. These are mentally inclined people. They actively acquire knowledge through experience, education and association. The Air signs are curious, original, well-disciplined, quick thinking, and possess initiative. They are rational in their methods, rather than depending upon emotional or physical factors. They enjoy any type of entertainment where they can use their intellectual capacity, and their ability to think quickly and accurately often gives them the upper hand. The emotional nature of the Air signs is directed toward self appraisal. Air signs have a tendency to judge themselves harshly. They set standards for themselves when its comes to their hygiene, fashion, education, job performance, and family. At their worst, they can be mean. They carry a grudge, and are quick to express their opinion. Libra is not as violent as Aquarius or Gemini. Aquarius is known to change their temper like a change in wind direction. The Air signs will not hesitate one moment to express their anger verbally, but physical violence is not a first choice during that anger.

* Water - (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) - Torrents of passion well within water signs and they feel things deeply. However, water signs are always emotionally reserved, no matter what impression they might give on the surface. Still water, it as been said, runs deep, and the mystery about water pertains to this group (especially Scorpio). A water sign will always become quiet or withdrawn when they are trying to sort things out. It will take some time to get to know them well, for they reveal themselves slowly. They realize their intense emotions hold tremendous power, and they tend to handle their feelings carefully. When they fall in love, water signs love with their whole hearts and all their devotion. Their sensitivity makes them highly romantic, even sentimental. Often psychic, water signs read your true intentions simply by reading your gestures and body language and will trust actions more than words (Pisces, particularly, has elevated this talent to high art). This is a highly imaginative group and very creative. Their observations on the human condition often inspire masterpieces of painting, music, photography, literature, or dance. Working in studios or small self-employed businesses (usually connected to the creative arts) appeals to water signs. Their right-on-target-intuition makes them succeed in financial areas too.

- The three Qualities (The Qualities assign the Signs into Quadruplicities, three groups of four. They are occasionally referred to as crosses because each quality forms a cross when drawn across the zodiac. Christian astrology relates the three qualities to the three aspects of God in the trinity.)
* Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are associated with initiation, creativity and leadership.

* Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) are associated with stabilization, determination, depth and persistence.

* Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) are associated with adaptability, service-providing and expansion.

-Personality (While knowing the element and quality of a sign is sufficient to define it, several other groupings can be used for those interested in better understanding their symbolism. The most common is a sequential cycle detailed below. Although most commonly used to define planets, it is valid for signs as well. This cycle has been used as a metaphorical descriptor of the process of birth, development, and death, of humans, societies, or even humanity.)
* Personal Signs - (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer) - are principally aware of and concerned with individual concerns.

* Interpersonal Signs - (Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio) - are principally aware of and concerned with social and societal concerns.

* Transpersonal Signs - (Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) - are principally aware of and concerned with humanitarian and existential concerns.

- Domicle, Detriment, Exaltation, and Fall
* Domicile - A planet is strengthened or dignified if it falls within the sign that it rules. In other words it is said to exercise Rulership of the sign. For example, the Moon in Cancer is considered "strong".

* Detriment - If a planet is in the sign opposite that which it rules, it is said to be weakened or in Detriment, for example the moon in Capricorn. Those born under signs ruled by planets in their detriment may find it harder to utilize their abilities.

* Exaltation - A planet is strengthened when it is within a sign that it does not rule if that sign is its "exaltation", meaning that the sign treats the planet as an honored guest in its domain, such as when Saturn is in Libra. Saturn rules Aquarius and Capricorn, but Libra will still exalt Saturn when Saturn is in its domain.

* Fall - A planet in the opposite sign of its Exaltation is said to be in its Fall (e.g. Moon in Scorpio), and thus weakened, perhaps seemingly more so than Detriment. The Planet in fall is passively rejected or ignored by the sign that it's in. Those born under signs ruled by planets in their fall may find themselves unable to properly express themselves.

For the last portion of your exam, I would ask that you know a few examples of other kinds of Divination practices. Here are some listed here. Note that not all are given definitions. It should be relatively easy to find the meaning of these, and you will not be required to know anything in depth about these subjects. ((OOC: Just put the name in google, you'll get your definition)):

Cartomancy, Fire Omens, Palmistry, Dream Interpretation, tea leaf readings, the sacrifice of bird entrails, astrology, tarot cards, crystal balls, Phyllorhodomancy, Numerology (divination by numbers), bibliomancy (using a book to tell ones fortune, almost always the Bible), Runic Divination, Cryptomancy (omens), captromancy (using mirrors), hydromancy (using water), Plastromancy (using the pattern on a turtle's shell), radiesthesia (using a pendulum), theomancy (predicting the future using the Inner Eye, prophecy) Turifumy (shapes in smoke), uranomancy (using the sky), umbromancy (using shadows), Xylomancy (burning wood), hypnomancy (by sleep), hakata (using bones or dice, as demonstrated in Pirates of the Caribbean), astrapomancy (Divination by Lightning), abacomancy (Divination by Dust), belomancy (Divination by Arrows), acultomancy (Divination by Needles) amathomancy (Divination by Sand).

As for the practical...to be honest, I do do not care how much you know about crystal ball readings, tea leaves, and dream interpretations. But you have to sit the exam, and I am forced to give it. So, each of you shall be called up to give me my fortune or interpret my dream. You may know something about the science (what little there is) behind readings, or you may not. Either way, I'll give you points for creativity.
