Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Mitchell knocked loudly on the door of Professor Tortal's office. Whilst he waited for a few moments, Mitch bubbled with impatience. He had almost decided what he was going to aim for, and all he really needed Tortal for was... well... information. Then again, it couldn't do any harm to have the meeting - even if Mitchell wasn't keen on attending. With a light sigh, Mitchell pushed his hair out of his face, and strode into the office.

"Professor Tortal." Mitchell said, in greeting.

"Mr. Kalvor. Please, have a seat," Professor Tortal motioned for the seat opposite of him. He began to dig through the piles of files on his desk. "How are you?"

Courtesy. A simple social expectation. Pointless in its own right, but nonetheless important for the operation of civilized society. Or, so it has been taught.

Mitchell sat himself opposite Charles, and watched the man looking through the various pieces of parchment and files on the desk. "I'm doing... fine," Mitchell replied, with a short shrug of the shoulders. He debated whether to ask the question back, but decided against it. The situation was already slightly awkward - or at least, that is how Mitchell perceived it to be. He didn't particularly want to dilly-dally on small chit-chat either, and somehow, Mitchell doubted Professor Tortal would want to either.

There was a short moment of silence, before Mitchell began to speak again. "I think I might aswell cut to the chase, Professor. Seeing how you are going to ask me about my future anyway," Mitchell paused, his gaze fixed on his Head of House. "Potions, sir," Mitchell stated. "I'd like to continue with Potions."

"Potions?" Charles made his voice sound slightly aghast. "Potions professor? Alchemist? Tons of options involving potions."

Professor Tortal cautiously pulled Mitchel's file from the bottom of the pile and retrieved all papers contained within.

"You currently have an... Excellent in Sneckenberg's class. You need an Outstanding to pass her NEWT."

Mitchell frowned thoughtfully, a somewhat surprised expression passing onto his face. "Well, definitely not a Potions Professor," he paused, "I don't think I'm cut out for teaching," With a shake of his head, Mitchell considered the next option - Alchemy. He'd given a small amount of thought to it, but Mitchell wasn't really sure what it... involved. "Alchemy... Perhaps," Mitchell said, a small amount of off-handedness to his tone. "But, I'm thinking more along the lines of a Potioneer," Mitchell realised that this too, was a rather vague statement. So, he watched Charles briefly for any reactions, then continued to speak. "You know... studying potions, brewing potions, selling potions, and maybe... inventing potions."

Mitchell coughed into the palm of his hand, his eyes flicking towards the file containing information about him. He took note of what Tortal said, and sat up in his chair. "An Excellent?" Mitchell's voice sounded vaguely questioning. "Well, I'll have to push that up, then."

"If you wish to create, invent, what have you with potions, Herbology will also be an important part of your academic achievement. It appears you have an Excellent in that class, as well," Charles reclined, placing his hand on his chin. "No less than Acceptable on that NEWT. You have no need to be apprehensive."

Charles cleared his throat. "Any questions?"

Potions and Herbology. Mitchell was glad he put effort into both of those subjects, or at least, more effort than he did in say... Divination. Thing is, he could actually see himself using the knowledge he gained in Potions (and Herbology, for that matter), whereas in other subjects such as History or magic, or Divination... Not quite so much. Clasping his hands together, Mitchell considered Charles' words for a moment, with a smirk tingeing on his lips.

"Is there anything else I should take? Surely two subjects isn't enough?" Mitchell cocked an eyebrow. "Anything that would be... of use?"

Charles stroked his chin. "Perhaps Defense Against the Dark Arts if you're going to... defend against the 'Dark Arts'."

There was almost a look of knowledge upon Charles' otherwise devoid face. He licked his lips, his tongue like that of a snake, before straightened his posture.

"I suggest it, regardless."

Mitchell froze, eyeing Charles warily. He couldn't know. There was no way he could know. Then why... was there a look on the man's face... that made it seem like he did? Mitchell sat up further in his seat, his hands clenched against each other on his lap. "I suppose it would help if I were to... get into any trouble," Mitchell had to choose his words carefully, because this current section of conversation was a little unnerving. "And it can't do any harm to take the subject," If Mitch were to learn about defending against the Dark Arts, then it would surely help him to... accomplish more, if he were to pursue his activities with the Dark Arts. What he'd done at the Yule Ball hadn't been for nothing, after all.

"Is there anything else we need to discuss?" Mitchell asked. "Or is that all?"

"Unless you have any further questions, you're free to go," Professor Tortal's was thin and harsh. He rested his head on his palm - his eyes blank.
