Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice
Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Some tosser was holding a lit wand in front of Ian's face in an otherwise dark room. Ian squinted as the stinging rays obliterated his ability for full cognitive function. They hadn't bound him or taken his wand, apparently they trusted him not to use it to remove that man's arm and reattach it to his crotch.

There were two other men in the room. One of them was a tall, whiskery man whose description Ian only knew because he'd seen him in the light of the hallway as they lead him to this empty room. The other two men were waiting for them. Clearly, the man--whom Ian knew as Lieutenant Derek Jeter, second in command of the Office of Magical Law Enforcement--had been expecting Ian to arrive at the courtyard where he'd requested (in no uncertain terms) for Ian to accompany him inside. Though no force had been used, Ian knew that he had no choice.

"Now," said Jeter, "I want to ask you a few things. Tell me everything you know about the incident at the Yule Ball."

Ian knew what the man was asking, but he wanted to test this interrogation group's boundries, first.

"Well," said Ian, "The Weasley girl was fighting over McKelvey with this Ravenclaw chick. This cute brunette from my year roped me into going--I was going to decline, but she was pretty desperate and I felt sor--Gah!"

Ian felt something dig into his back and an electric shock spread throughout his body. He screamed and gasped, the shock dissipating as quickly as it had come. The man behind him, the third MLE agent in the room, removed his wand from Ian's back. Ian gritted his teeth and his eyes watered, and he breathed as heavily as possible through clenched teeth.

"Please don't treat this light, Mr. Ponte du Lac," said Jeter, "I need you to be honest with me. I'm sorry that we had to use force-" Ian noted that the Lieutenant's voice lacked any sort of remorse whatsoever--"but we need you to understand just how serious we are and just how serious you ought to be."

Jeter turned to the man standing behind Ian, the one who'd shocked him with a spell.

"I don't think he knows much about that incident," he said, then turned his attention back to Ian. He leaned in close enough for Ian to see Jeter's whiskery face, which was grave.

Ian's mind, for once, wasn't racing. He was physically and mentally fatigued by the light shining in his face. Still, a single thought came to his mind.

He wondered if the man's arm was getting tired.

"We didn't think you would," he said. Ian didn't believe him. "It was a long shot, but we had to try. You might have known something, being in Slytherin--but you are your father's son. I don't think you were involved."

"But you think someone in Slytherin was?" asked Ian.

"I could hardly be blamed if I did," said Jeter, "Your house has a bad reputation. Not a wizard who turned bad what didn't come from Slytherin" he quoted the old saying.

"That's not exactly true..." said Ian. It was such a broad statement that painted an entire group of people with one brush.

"Perhaps," Derek said and smiled, the lines of his face creating dark shadows in the sparse light. "It is certainly true that not everyone comes out of Slytherin House a bad egg. Your father, for once. He was a great man. Best auror in the department. Only Moody could have bested him, and perhaps only in his prime."

"Could we get to the point?" asked Ian, growing impatient at hearing how great Anton was for the one billionth time. Also, he'd already realized that questioning him on what happened to June Brooks was merely pretense for whatever it was that Jeter really wanted.

"Your brother", said Jeter--Ian should have guessed--"on the other hand...the apple has fallen far from the tree."

Jeter got terribly close to Ian, close enough for Ian to smell the mixture of tobacco and what smelled like egg on Jeter's breath. Ian wrinkled his nose, and if Jeter noticed he did not acknowledge it. The man seemed all about getting what he wanted.

"Now," said Jeter, "would you say you were more like your father...or your brother?"

To Ian's great relief, Derek Jeter asked the man with the wand light to extinguish it, and sweet darkness filled his vision--save for the great green spot that hovered in front of his eyes. Ian rubbed them.

Someone lit a torch, and the room was filled with a dim orange-ish glow.

"Do you remember your home?" asked Jeter, a question which confused Ian, "What it looks like? Where it is? I need you to answer honestly."

"The estate? In Toulouse? Yeah, I remember it. Why wouldn't I?" said Ian, knowing that it would do him little good to lie. If they wanted the information from him bad enough, the could take it.

In any case, what they wanted from Ian was something they couldn't take from him. Jeter informed Ian that the Ponte du Lac estate in Toulouse, France had disappeared from the maps and no one--even those who had visited at some point or another--could remember where the house even was--their minds simply drawing a blank when trying to recall even the most superficial details of the location. And all attempts to relocate the the chateau have met with failure. For all points and purposes, it appeared as though the whole estate had vanished from the face of the planet.

Ian thought this odd, because he could still remember everything about it. He had no trouble recalling the details of his childhood home. The grand wood flooring, the estate by the river, the year-round warmth of southern France.

It was then that Ian realized what these men wanted him to do. The Lieutenant confirmed his suspicions.

"We need you to lead us to the Ponte du Lac chateau," said Jeter, "We cannot track Alphonse and bring him and his wife to justice unless we can uncover where they are hiding."

Ian wanted to refuse, though he knew it would be futile. And, besides, he'd already recalled the stipulation of The Will of Toussaint--the family's first patriarch--of which Jacques had informed Ian earlier that day.

If Alphonse were to be brought to justice, control of the estate would pass to me...

Jacques had told Ian that this was Anton's will.
