Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Beth didn't know where to go. She didn't want to enter the castle for fear of meeting her- former best friend. She just wanted to be alone, without any witnesses to see her crying. That's why she ran from the pitch directly to the Forbidden Forest. She didn't get too far, however. The girl made it only about two hundred feet into the forest before collapsing down with her back against a tree, sobbing violently. What was she going to do? Her best friend had betrayed her today, attacking a student; a girl! How could he do such a thing!?! Her second best friend refused to speak to her and Beth could do virtually nothing to help her. Her practice of Flying had been going terribly and she knew she should inform her father about her progress soon. Thinking of that person… Her dad had just seen her crying in public. As if he hadn't had little respect for her before! Now he would utterly hate her! The Hufflepuff girl felt totally drained, both physically - from lack of sleep, and emotionally. All she wanted to do was fall asleep beneath that tree, and hopefully never wake up.

(ooc: sorry for the drama, lolz)

Ginny ran into the forest, her wild laughter trailing behind her, scaring all the small animals. The trees rustled, and she felt free. No more Katie Clearwater!

As Ginny ran, she heard the sound of someone crying. Ginny turned around, following the noise, until she saw a Hufflepuff girl, sitting under a tree in tears.

Ginny crouched down next to her. "Hey..." she hesitated, not knowing the girl's name. "Are you okay? Well, obviously I guess you're not okay if you're crying. What happened?" She took off her coat and scarf, dropping the items next to her on the ground. She felt hot from all that running.

Beth didn't know for how long had she been sitting there, on the frozen ground of the forest. She wasn't cold, though. The warming potion must have been working. Normally, Beth would jump up in glee when she accomplished something like this. But now, she couldn't think of anything else but how miserable she felt. She had shed all the tears she possibly could but still kept on sobbing. The girl was so deep in her gloomy thoughts that she didn't hear anyone approach her until she felt someone crouch next to her.

Beth jumped up slightly as the girl spoke. And as if somebody poured cold water all over her, she began wiping her face quickly to dry all the tears. It didn't help because her eyes were red anyway so she couldn't hide the fact she had been crying. Looking up at the girl closely with her blurred vision, she recognized her as a member of Gryffindor Quidditch team; was Jenny her name? Her memory certainly wasn't working the way she wished it to.

"Are you okay? Well, obviously I guess you're not okay if you're crying. What happened?"

Beth didn't know the girl well and she wasn't the type to trust people, much less strangers. And I still got cheated by my best friend, she thought but had to push the thought away. Then again.. what more did she have to lose? Nothing. She had held her problems locked inside for too long, maybe it would do her some good if she told somebody; anybody. And what should she say? 'My life sucks'? Finally, Beth sighed and looked up at Jenny with sad eyes. "A-a bad day, I guess," she tried to smile politely but almost ended up crying again. More like my worst year and it's only January. She sighed again and took a deep breath, trying to speak as normally as she could, but failed miserably. "My best friend betrayed me. My second best friend doesn't wish to speak to me. My only parent hates me and I suck at-," she paused. Darn, this was close. One thing she didn't need and that was to reveal her most guarded secret. "-I suck at Transfiguration," she blurted out quickly. In fact, this was true as well, at least in her mind it was. Beth was afraid of doing poorly in OWL exams so she wouldn't be able to become an Auror. They don't want crying sissies like you, anyway, she thought bitterly.

(OOC: this will be a crap post ^__^)

She listened to the girl's trembling voice. "My best friend betrayed me. My second best friend doesn't wish to speak to me. My only parent hates me and I suck at--" Ginny leaned forward as the Hufflepuff's voice cut off.

"I suck at Transfiguration!" she finished quickly.

"Wait, what?" Ginny was confused. Where did Transfiguration come into play? She was talking about her friends and her parent...

She breathed in and out, trying to figure out one thing at a time. "What happened? Who's your best friend? What did they--?" Ginny stopped herself as she realized that this could be perceived as very nosy. "I'm sorry. You don't have to tell me anything. But if I can help, just let me know. I'm Ginny, by the way," she added offhandedly, figuring that the two could at least know each other's names.

(OOC: Nah, is not ^^)

Beth carefully considered Ginny's words. That was the name! She was really hesitant in telling her anything. Almost her whole life, Beth had been a person to listen to problems of others, and kept her own locked up. But what were her options now? She could either cry herself to total exhaustion and be miserable or… she could actually try to do something about it. She had never lost all hope and never stopped fighting before. Finding some last reserve of energy in her body, Beth pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged them almost defensively. "I'm Beth," she paused as she brought her sleeve to her eyes to dry the remaining tears. It proved difficult since both her sleeves were already wet. "Do you really want to hear this?" she searched Ginny's eyes for some form of hesitation or disdain, "you probably have better things to do than listen to my problems."

Taking a deep breath and gathering some courage, Beth began to speak, "my best friend, a Slytherin boy… He, uh, attacked some girl today. I just know it was him because of a spell he used. And-and he promised me to never hurt anybody!" The Hufflepuff looked bashfully at the ground but sprung her head back up in afterthought, "but you mustn't tell anybody! Please. The girl is alright, I just talked to her." Part of her still couldn't believe Edward could do such a thing and still felt the need to protect him. He was the only person she had really trusted in her life. "I'm just- I don't want to see him. That's why I'm here," Beth whispered. She really didn't need her former-best friend to laugh at her gullibility. "You really can't trust Slytherins, I guess," she gave a weak chuckle, which sounded more like a scoff. This wasn't the only reason why she was feeling so bad, but Beth didn't want to burden Ginny with all of it. She would be surprised if the girl didn't walk away the next second.

Ginny's body stiffened, and she snapped into awareness. "He attacked someone?" she asked, her tone coming out harshly than she'd meant to. "I won't tell anyone, but geez, Beth. There's been a ton of attacks within the past twenty-four hours, and I think that someone should--"

Beth's next words repeated themselves in her head.

You really can't trust Slytherins, I guess.

She shook the thought from her mind. She had friends who were Slytherins, right? They wouldn't attack anyone. "Was he acting of his own accord?" she asked. "Do you think somebody Imperiused him or something?" Ginny didn't want to think of attacks anymore, so she rather abruptly changed the subject.

"But what's all this with your dad? And you hating Transfiguration?" That might be the only part of Beth's issues that Ginny could help with.

"Nonono, he couldn't be responsible for the Yule Ball attacks," Beth said quickly. Right? She was wrong about him once, maybe she had been wrong about him all the time? "I-I don't know what exactly happened… but it just doesn't sound like him," she couldn't help sounding hopeful. Ginny had a point; what if he really was under Imperius curse? Beth didn't know what to think about it anymore, she didn't want have clouded judgment and yet, she wanted him to be innocent.

"Well," Beth began, not sure how explain. Hers and her father's relationship would probably seem unusual for others, but it was the only one she had ever known. "He- kinda- just saw me crying, in public," she tilted her had to the ground once more, looking positively distressed.

"I don't hate Transfiguration," she said quickly, "I love it. But… I was sick for a few months and I missed lots of classes. Now I have trouble with some spells. I did try, but… I need to pass to the NEWT level. I want to become an Auror, you know?" Beth blushed at her confession.

"I wasn't suggesting that he was responsible for them," Ginny clarified, "Just that it's... I don't know... weird for there to be another attack, especially so soon after the first two." She trailed off, thinking...

Ginny tilted her head to the side and looked at Beth, a puzzled expression on her face. "Is it bad for him to see you crying?" Ginny wasn't sure if teenagers often cried in front of their parents, not being much of a crier herself.

"Hmm, Transfiguration," Ginny mused, speaking almost to herself. "I'm pretty average at Transfiguration. Have you tried asking someone for help?"

Ginny then found a common tie between herself and Beth. "I want to be an Auror, too," she said with a smile. "But Transfiguration is a main part in that. I wish there was something I could do..." For some reason, Ginny found herself wanting to wanting to help Beth.

Beth mulled over what Ginny said. It really was weird, but she could still not see how could be Edward connected to any of the previous attacks. She hadn't seen him on that night, though. But it was probably because she was trying to play a rescuer in a forest; unsuccessfully of course.

"Is it bad for him to see you crying?"

Beth nodded her head solemnly, "very bad. You see.. I guess he has high expectation for me. And crying is definitely out of a question."

The Hufflepuff thought for a moment. She wasn't used to asking people for help. Not that she was arrogant or anything like that; she just didn't want to bother other people with her problems. This was, ironically, what she was doing now. But who could she ask anyway? Out of the handful of friends she had, Beth was certain none of them really excelled in that subject. And, naturally, she was just too shy to ask anybody else, especially her Transfiguration professor. She respected Professor Aphelion greatly, and she certainly didn't want to look stupid in front of her favorite teacher. "I don't have anybody to ask," she finally replied, suddenly finding her shoes to be extremely interesting.

"You do?" Beth's head shot up with excitement, that it almost seemed she was her normal self again. But it only lasted a second. "Thank you, but I'm afraid there's nothing left to do. Hufflepuffs don't even have any more Transfiguration classes until OWLs." Beth felt hopeless. Maybe if she gave up one her liabilities, then she had a chance of succeeding in the other. But how could she choose between disappointing her father even further and failing to achieve her most precious dream.

"That sucks, I'm sorry. Your dad sounds really tough." She smiled as Beth perked up a little. "Yeah, I do. I can't imagine myself doing anything else. Well, maybe a teacher, but--" she stopped herself from getting off topic. "Yeah, you're right, I'm afraid they don't."

Ginny nodded sympathetically, trying her best to put herself into Beth's shoes, which wasn't something she normally did.

Putting herself in Beth's shoes... Wait...

When's the next Transfiguration class? We have it with Ravenclaws, right? Eww, Ravenclaws. Like Trina. And Jack. Who's not a Ravenclaw, but I'll have to look at Trina and Jack during the entire class period. Being all couple-y and irritating. I'd much rather spend that time with Dave.

She tapped Beth on the arm and jumped to her feet, excited to have a plan. "Hey, this is going to sound completely and totally crazy, but... We should switch places for class on Monday! You want to go to Transfiguration, to get the extra practice, and there are two people in that class that I'd really rather not see right now. It's a totally win-win situation! What do you say?"

Ginny extended her hand to help Beth to her feet.

John entered the forest, to the secluded spot him and Juliet had been to in more romantic times.

John paced out the space, trying to prepare himself for the conversation he was about to have. Every different way he went through it never came out correctly. John knew he was going to get in trouble. What was he going to do? There was too much tension, but John loved her, or did he love the idea of her, a Gryffindor girl friend was something John aspired to getting, and now that it wasn't working out, was he only struggling to keep her because he wanted a Gryffindor, or because of her?

John struggled with these ideas as he paced the forest clearing.

Juliet entered the forest her silver eyes not containing their usual sparkle. She knew what was coming. The dreaded 'let's be friend's' speech. What she wondered was, who was going to give it? And could they really be friends?
They hadn't been before but maybe they could be now. Juliet repeated this happier thought in her head before making her presence known.

"Hello John." She said simply not knowing what else to say.

"I'm sure you'll be a great Auror, if that's what you truly want," Beth said encouragingly, trying to smile a little. Unlike herself, Beth thought Ginny was strong enough to succeed. The Hufflepuff sighed and leaned her chin on her knee. She knew she would have to drop some OWL subjects and concentrate more on her Flying practice. She still wondered why there was no improvement in the last month; she tried every day.

Beth looked up at Ginny curiously as the girl jumped up suddenly, looking rather excited. Did I miss anything? She kept staring at Ginny after she stopped talking, mulling over her words. Wasn't it forbidden to do something like that? Beth didn't recall reading about it in school regulations. And it was brilliant. This way she would still have a chance at succeeding in both of her goals. Glancing down at Ginny's hand, a huge grin slowly appeared on Beth's face. With Ginny's help, she pulled herself back on her feet and hugged the Gryffindor girl tightly. Realizing what she was doing, she pulled back quickly with a meek, "sorry," and studied her shoes again. Beth had never been this friendly with any almost-strangers, but she just couldn't help it. It felt as if all her hope was resurrected back to life. "Eh, it's awesome! You would- you would really do that?" she asked happily.

Beth bit her lower lip in thought. How would they do this, though? It would be suspicious if she sat among Ravenclaws and Gryffindors in class. Both girls had similar body shapes so borrowing each other's house robes wouldn't be a problem, but they didn't look too much alike. "We don't have enough time to get ingredients and brew Polyjuice Potion, though," she wondered aloud. "But I think I saw some useful spells in the Library," Beth added with a bright smile. It felt a little weird to smile because her face was still stiff from crying but at least she didn't feel like she would die at any moment.

John had his back to the entrance when Juliet arrived. As John turned on the spot to face Jules, he saw her eyes full of sadness. They made him stop, could he really do this to her. "Hey Jules" John said, his mouth not allowing him to say anything else. John took a few steps cautiously towards her, hugged her awkwardly then sat on the ground, leaning against a tree.

"I think we both realize why we are here" John saying, hoping that Jules would take over from the pause in the conversation John had left.

"Wait isn't this the club where we discuss the current event's and sip tea? I think I am at the wrong place..." Juliet trailed off with a shaky laugh. Even her humor was off. She hated awkward conversations and this was a cut-the-tension-with-a-knife kind of one. Sighing deeply before sitting in the middle of the small opening uncaring on whether her coat got covered in snow or mud.

"I haven't really done one of these conversations before or even a relationship as you know." She said honestly her eyes feeling a little wet as she continued. "Maybe we are just trying to hard to be something we can't be." She tried again changing her approach.

John was a little resigned at the tone of Juliets voice, it had lost a lot determination. Perhaps a part of John was hoping that Juliet would be want to try anything to make this relationship work, however, her tone of voice made it so final, so over. The winter weather and the decrepit forest looked suddenly appropriate for the conversation.

"I do like you Juliet, and I can't help feeling jealous. Perhaps you are right, for once" John said, a poor attempt at humor, it was hollow and there was no laughter in him at the moment. He felt as though he knew he wouldn't be able to keep a normal friendship. How ironic that the time he had the strongest feelings for Juliet was when they were about to finish this relationship.

"Maybe, instead of it being final. We can be on a break. See other..." John paused, the idea of seeing Juliet laughing, smiling or generally being happy with another boy made John's insides perform high class gymnastics as a monster, much bigger then the yeti from the task roared with outrage inside of him. Letting go of this relationship was harder then John thought it would be.

"...people." Juliet finished unecsassarily but shuddered internally at the thought of John cuddling up to another girl who thought she could top her. No one could replace Juliet Rhodes. John knew it. Juliet knew it. Simple as that. Yet it made Juliet wish for once that she wasn't who she was.

"We are two people who get jealous. This makes everything so much more complicated." She muttered more to herself than anything.

"What else is there? Be friends and hex the crap out of anyone that touches each other or be together and fight constantly? Why does this have to be so hard?" She asked hoping that maybe John had some magical answer. She tried not to get her hopes up, failing horribly.

"Everything is always complicated, life would be boring without complications" John said, unsure of why he was saying it. These complications were tearing him up inside, eating him from inside out. John felt a little better knowing that Juliet also got jealous of John.

"I think we just need to relax around each other, I don't think that can happen if we are together. I know that if we were together and I saw you and say... Paton flirting, I'd want to kill him. I don't know, maybe time apart will help. I don't know, I can't think of us being finished and it being final, but I can't deny that it's been really hard Jules. I wonder if all good looking couples have this much trouble usually" John said, he chuckled and then had never been more revolted at himself. That was a terrible joke, he can't believe he just laughed at that.

"Hey, if it wasn't hard, it wouldn't be worth having" John said, seemingly channeling his father, "I can't just let you go Jules, but we can't keep going like this" John said, hoping dearly that he wouldn't lose Juliet forever after this.

"...I know. Maybe one day we'll get another shot, right?" Juliet asked hopefully. She hadn't met anyone like John before and wasn't willing to let him go. But she knew it was best. For him, her and everyone else. Crawling over to where John sat she leant a head on his shoulder a tear falling slowly down her cheek and landing on the ground. Her gloves, coat and her hair where wet and mattered but it didn't matter to Juliet at that moment.

"It still hurts. No matter how right it is. I'll miss us, you, my Sir John." She stated knowing that it would be better to say it all now seeing as it might be her last chance to before they awkwardly attempted being something other than a couple.

"I'd like that" John said, smiling weakly. Jules would always occupy a special place in John's heart, that nothing would be able to remove her from that place. John was slightly taken a back as Jules crawled to where John sat and rested her head on his shoulder. John could tell she was crying, it made it extremely difficult for John.

"Hey" John said to her, lifting her head so their eyes met, John's eyes also now shimmering with tears, though if anyone asked him, he would firmly deny this. Looking Jules in the eyes, John sniffed, "you'll always have a place right here" John said, pointing a gloved finger at the position of his heart, which felt like a cannon ball at the present time. "Always will be there Miss Rhodes" John said, leaning his head towards her. Every inch of his body was aching to kiss her, even if it was for one last time. The tension was unbearable, he leaned in close enough to smell what perfume she was wearing but without any contact. He would not force her into a parting kiss, she would have to want it as well.

OOC: I see your awkward crying moment, with this even more awkward parting moment.
