| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. As the sun's pale orange reflection slowly dissapeared on the surface of the water, Katie approached the shoreline. The hung her bag on the branch of a tree and found a large flat rock to sit on. She climbed onto the rock and kicked off her shoes that were now covered in wet sand and mud. But Katie didn't seen to care. "It's so nice here. It's an amazing place to see the sunset. It's also the best place to think." she said to herself. Katie looked at her watch and burst into tears. The time was exactly 6:30 PM Katie knew that at least one of her friends would somehow find her here, so all she had to do was wait. Edited by Ian de Ponte du Lac, Nov 1 2009, 05:47:32 PM.

As Laney walked outside, she took off her robes and stuffed them inside her bag. She hadn't wanted to show everyone that she was wearing Muggle clothes (especially sleeping clothes) underneath her robes, but now that she was going outside, it didn't matter. And it felt really hot out to Laney, because she was wearing sweats and a jacket. "Hi, Katie," she said simply, sitting down next to her on the rock. It was then that she noticed Katie was crying. "Hey, are you okay?" Laney asked, putting a caring arm around her friend. |

Katie smiled slightly as her friend wrapped her arm around her. "Hello." she said quietly as she wiped her tears from her eyes. As she did, her light brown eyeliner smeared on her face and onto the sleve of her robes. She looked out into the ocean, the sky was turning a bright orange. She calmed a little and then spoke up. Laney, a few years ago, my dad had to go to America for a business trip. We got a call at home one day and when my mum answered, her face was pure shock. She told me that my dad never checked in at the airport and that his car was found. But..." she paused, remembering that sad, miserable day. "...My dad, he was gone. she said, waiting for Laney's response.

Laney's face fell as Katie told her that awful story. Tears welled up in Laney's over-sensitive eyes as a tidal wave of genuine sympathy rolled through her. "I'm so, so, sorry, Katie," Laney said softly. "I never knew... That must be horrible to lose your dad at such an age. I'm always here for you, okay? Although, I guess saying 'sorry' doesn't help," Laney let out a small giggle. "It never helps. But is there a special reason you miss him today, hon? Whatever it is, you can tell me about it." Laney took Katie's hand in a comforting way, smiling kindly at the poor girl. What a horrible thing to have to go through, Laney thought. |

Well, every night, we used to watch the sunset together on the beach by my house... she stopped for a minute, looking at Laney. "... but it was about this time and day when we got the call, you see, and it's been a while and I've never told anyone. It just became to over-whelming for me." she sighed, looking out at the water, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Oh, that sounds--terrible. I'm sorry you have to go through this," Laney frowned. "I understand how you feel. I lost my grandma when I was young, too. I'm sure it's nothing like losing your father, but..." Laney used the sleeve of her hoodie to wipe away one of Katie's tears that was dripping down her chin. "You and your dad, were you close? I mean..." she paused, realizing how insensitive it was of her to ask. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want. But if it'll help, I'm here to listen." |

"Yeah we were close." she said as Laney wiped a tear from her face. "I'm fine now, really. she said quietly, trying to fix her messy hair and her raccoon make-up. "I... um... I think we should go back to the Great hall now, before the girls find out." As she wiped a final tear from her eyes, she stood up, grabbing her shoes and slipping them on. The grabbed her brush from her bag, fixing her hair. After she looked like she did before, she sat back down on the rock, looking at Laney. |

Laney wrapped her friend in a hug. "Okay, I'm glad you feel better," she said softly, with a smile. Then she watched as Katie fixed herself up. Laney realized that her sweats were once again revealed, and she pulled her robes back on and fastened them up. "I fell asleep after lunch today and totally napped through Herbology," she explained to Katie as she made to walk back to the Hall. "So when the dinner bell rang, I threw my robes on over my comfy clothes and rushed down to the Great Hall without changing." Laney giggled. "I must look really goofy, with my hair all up in a knot and wearing sweatpants under my robes." |

"I know, right? Ugh. But I heard Herbology wasn't that interesting today, anyway." Laney picked up her own bag and examined Katie's face when she asked about her make-up. "Yeah, you look fine. No one'll know you were crying. But did you really want to go back to dinner? We only have an hour and a half, maybe, till free time is over. We could go somewhere else?" Laney heard a loud voice that sounded a lot like Ginny's coming from the Quidditch Pitch. She squinted and saw two silhouettes lined against the setting sun, high up in the sky. "Did you want to see what that's about?" Laney asked, raising her eyebrows. |

"Yeah, that's weird," Laney agreed. "There are lots of people over there, too. I guess they're all crazy!" "Really?" Laney blushed as her friend complimented her. "Thanks," she said, taking off her robes and stowing them in her bag once again. Then she grabbed Katie by the hand and headed over to the Quidditch Pitch. |

There was no need to do this out on the Durmstrang ship in the middle of the lake where the wind was higher and the air was much, much cooler. Piotr had already gotten all of the details of Ella's surroundings on canvas. The moment was captured, save for the details he was adding now that concerned Ella's face and the way her hair and her dress moved in the wind. Ella was wearing the same outfit she had on during Halloween. Piotr wanted to get it all right. Just a few more touches. Ella was good to him to stand still all this long, especially since he had not let her see the painting in all that time. In the distance, he could spy some students flying their brooms above the quidditch pitch. Again, he was sure, Ella was making a sacrifice for him by sitting still when he knew, from their conversations, how much she loved quidditch. "Okay," said Piotr, "You can move now." He smiled. A couple more brush strokes, and he felt that the painting was presentable. "Come see," he said, feeling a bit nervous for her to be looking upon his work. The painting depicted Ella standing, looking somewhat insecure, on the Durmstrang ship out in the middle of the black lake in bright, pale light of a full moon. The wind blew her long dark hair and her beautifully contrasting flowing white dress around like playthings. Like all Piotr's paintings, this one did not move. It captured a specific moment, however. One Piotr wanted to preserve. He himself was as happy as he could be about it, given that he could see, as no one but the paintings artist could see, all the flaws in his work. Still, he hoped she liked it. He really wanted her to like it. ((OOC: Yeah, the girl in the pic doesn't really look like Ella, but at least you'll get an idea of what the painting is supposed to look like))

Hard as she tried to be patient, Ella was finding it harder and harder not to fidget. True, she had a hard time sitting still and concentrating at the best of times, but tonight it was proving near impossible. Perhaps it was because she would finally get to see the painting, or maybe she was just excited about the Ball the next day...whatever it was, Ella hoped she wasn't annoying Piotr with her shifting. Finally, Piotr announced that he had finished and she could see his work. She rolled her shoulders slightly and made her way over to him, her eyes widening slightly when she looked at it. Once again, Ella was awed by how easy it was to imagine herself simply walking into the picture--something about it looked even more real than the moving pictures she was used to. Sure, it was a little strange to see herself painted, but the beauty of the painting as a whole made her forget that. "Merlin, Piotr, it's...it's amazing." she said, glancing at him and smiling. |

"Do you like it?" he asked, his mouth twitching, threatening to break into the widest grin he'd ever expressed. On one hand, he was somewhat disappointed with her reaction. She sounded impressed and enthusiastic about it, but...now Piotr didn't even know what he was expecting. He knew that Ella was not the kind of girl to react in the kind of enthused manner that most girls did. Most were easily excitable. Ella was more reserved, unless, of course, she had a strong opinion to voice. Perhaps that was why Piotr liked her. Still, it made things more difficult to Piotr, because Ella's thoughts on him were not as easy to gauge as they are on the other girls whom he often found staring dreamily in his direction, or otherwise glaring daggers at Ella when they were together. This was going to be awkward, but nothing worth doing was ever easy, right? The first few months of Piotr's relationship with Sascha had been easy. She wore the signs of her attraction to him on her sleeve. Equally easy to read were her expressions of derision and anger, as she made no means to hide those, either. There were many disadvantages to "easy". Piotr wanted to try something he would have to work for. That suited him more. "Listen Ella," said Piotr, moving away from her to sit down on the grass in the waning light of the gray winter sky. He sat with his legs bent and his heels on the ground. Immediately, he realized that planting his bum on the wet semi-wet grass was a poor idea. The seat of his trousers were already soaked. Still, Piotr stayed put. His head inclined toward the ground, Piotr mustered up the courage. "I have recently found myself in a difficult position," he said, lifting his head up and looking straight into Ella's beautiful electric blue eyes, "As a champion, I am obligated to perform certain...tasks." Now he'd gone so roundabout with this that he was no confused as to how he was going to fit this in. Not only that, but he realized that what he was saying also could be taken to imply the difficulties he was having balancing being...whatever he was to her, and how his fellow Durmstrang saw that relationship. Many were becoming concerned that he was spending too much time with "that Hogwarts girl" or "Sascha's bratty little cousin". In fact, he was once asked by a British student if "getting with" the girls of the same family "turned" him "on". Once he was even accused of deliberately seeking out a much younger and naive girl with which to have his fun with. Piotr could say nothing to make them believe that no one, not Piotr or his position as Champion, nor Ella was being taken advantage of or manipulated. He did not expect Ella to catch all of that, but Piotr wondered, in that split second, if he really ought to go through with this. "V-vat I mean is," he took a breath, "I find myself...despite de sensibilities of my Durmstrang comrades...in spite of my own misgivings about such a thing...I..." Time seemed to slow. The whole of existence seemed to have blanked out, all save for that white skin, those electric blue eyes. Her hair was the same color as the void which replaced the world. You can take such punishment from some of the world's most deadliest creatures, yet you cannot do this? Why is this so hard? "As a champion," said Piotr, mentally kicking himself. Now he was back to talking about obligations. Focus. Don't let your nerves change the subject for you again! "As a champion, I am obligated to open the Yule Ball. I vill need...a dance partner for dis...and I," Piotr gulped, "I feel as though there is no one else I vould rather go vith than you, Ella." There, he said it. Not exactly the great pouring out of his feelings for her that he wanted, but at least he'd asked her. Piotr was not good at such things. That is why he painted. Piotr glanced back at his painting of Ella. There, he knew, expressed in pigment on canvas, was all the things he found himself incapable of putting in words. She might reject him. She, too, might find it improper on both levels of age and loyalty. She probably would. Piotr mentally braced for the worst. |

"I have recently found myself in a difficult position. As a champion, I am obligated to perform certain...tasks." Ella's smile faltered slightly as her mind began whirring madly and her stomach dropped. She, too, had heard the rumors surrounding her and Piotr's "friendship," and knew that many of his fellow Durmstrangs frowned upon it. What was he saying? Did he not want to see her anymore? Was he tired of people thinking he was just trying to use her to win? Was that the "difficult position" he was talking about? Why in the name of Gobstones did he wait untill then to tell her, just when she was beginning to think that she might have a chance? She became so engrossed in her thoughts that she almost missed what he said next. Cursing inwardly, she fought to compose herself nad listen to what he was saying, her mind still racing. "V-vat I mean is, I find myself...despite de sensibilities of my Durmstrang comrades...in spite of my own misgivings about such a thing...I..." Well, that's it then. He obviously...wait...Despite? "As a champion, I am obligated to open the Yule Ball. I vill need...a dance partner for dis...and I," Piotr gulped, "I feel as though there is no one else I vould rather go vith than you, Ella." Ella blinked, momentarily speechless. Was she crazy, or did he just ask her to the Yule Ball? As in, a date? Her face, stony mere seconds ago, broke into a grin. "Well, I...I would really like to go with you, too, Piotr" She said quietly, hoping she didn't sound too anxious... |

"You--you vould?" Piotr stood up, and he did not hide his excitement. He grinned wide. "Thank you, Ella," he said. Of course, now he was at yet another awkward crossroads: What to do next? He wasn't completely sure how it went for the British. Should he hug her? Should he...kiss her? Of course, the potential awkwardness for both choices would be exasperated by the fact that Ella was much shorter than Piotr. He would have to bend down, and would that not give Ella enough time to wonder what he was doing? To be turned off? Piotr stepped forward, still completely undecided on what he was going to do. Still, he ended up somehow putting both of his strong hands on the small young woman's shoulders--lightly of course. He smiled, looked into her eyes again, and blushed quite visibly. Inside him, a battle of uncertainty was raging. And then, there were footsteps. Soft thudding against the wet grass. Piotr looked up, over Ella's head and saw a group of adults making their way down the hill towards them. As they passed, Piotr recognized Professors at Hogwarts whom he had seen there in the castle. He recognized, too, the black cloaks and jaded looks of the aurors who now guarded the school. Most paid them no mind, seeming to be heading down the pitch, instead. One of the aurors, however, seemed to take it upon himself to whack Piotr upside the back with his walking stick. Piotr, who was unfazed, yet annoyed (though also secretly relieved) glowered at the man. "Git in the castle, I say," he said, "Noo time fer lovey-dovey now. The ground er closed. GIT!" The man hit Piotr again on his legs. It stung, but didn't bother the Russian. The auror trudged off towards the pitch. Apparently, there was a commotion. Piotr looked back at Ella, then turned and looked at the ship. Inside, the ship was sure to be cold and dank, and his fellow Durmstrang terse and surly; whereas if he went to the castle with Ella, he would be warmer and with better company. Such thoughts are weak, though. Still... "Vell? You heard the man," said Piotr, smiling, "Is there any place ve can go in the castle? I do not vant to return to the ship." |

Professor Apheoion strode across the Grounds as his eyes scanned the yellow dome that had encapsulated the entire Quidditch Pitch. He had caught sight of the apparition from his office window and could see a number of people within its confines, both pupil and adult. Nate had not witnessed anything like it in his life and so was rushing to investigate less it prove to be hostile or dangerous. His wand was held tightly in his hand as his mind raced for some trace of knowledge on the strange dome-like structure. As he neared he could begin to make out the unique uniform worn by Aurors and several of his staff members which made him relax visibly, but still he wanted to know which of them had cast it and why. His pace did not lessen despite this knew information. |

Readjusting his suit, Charles strolled down the path back towards the castle. His attention was not on the declining hill, but instead on his pockets, as he was searching for his cigar. As he finally retrieved the cigar, Charles emitted a self-centered, "Aha," before putting the cigar between his lips. Professor Tortal did not have the opportunity to light his tobacco, however, as he nearly collided with Nathan, who was walking increasingly fast towards the pitch. "Ah, Nathan," Charles acknowledged. |

Nate had caught sight of Charles strolling casually back towards the castle and immediately he knew the dome had something to do with the Slytherin Head. Ever since his appointment around the same time as Nate himself had joined the faculty of Hogwarts, Professor Charles Tortal had been the source of several disturbing and unexpected episodes. Whether it was teaching taboo topics to his students or having an almost fondness for all things Dark and sinister, Charles was not one of Nate's favoured teachers. "Charles, do you know the cause of that?" nodding sternly at the yellow dowm covering the Quidditch Pitch. |
