Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Divination is the most boring and useless subject ever." She frowned when Bannishtar mentioned something about reading. "I'm not much of a reader, you know." Turning over her card, she recognized The Lovers, but had no idea what it meant. "What did you get?" she asked Edward.

In fact, she often made it seem like she dated him out of some form of pity, as she was apparently so far out of his league. Aria was the one who had always considered Dave a "perfect boyfriend" but didn't know quite how to say this. Would Dave assume she was being patronising? Or would he take this as her making a move on him, a la Precious? But Aria had to remember that Dave wasn't a typical Slytherin, he might not assume that her comment was some kind of game or agenda. He had been honest with her so far, it was only fair that she do the same. "Yeah I know exactly what you mean. She just wants everything and refuses to give anything back, aside from a bad attitude. She never called you a perfect boyfriend but.....that was always the impression that I got of you."

I love that book," It brought back memories to Rodrigo, for back at the casa in Italy, there were many books stashed around. And that was of all different kinds. He had picked up a few particular favourites, and Rod found it funny how Beth would think up something so simple, but then it turned out to be really connected. "And Beth, you know you'll pass anyway, in fact I really don't think that there will be much trouble for either of us. Heh, we should study for it together sometime." Shrugging his shoulders a little, Rodrigo looked through some of the tarot cards, but didn't spot any that meant anything to him.

"Now," the centaur continued, "There are twenty-two major arcana in the tarot system, each one with a corresponding number from zero to twenty-one, and each pertaining to an aspect of what your book describes as the human condition." Bannishtar sounded as though he were trying to get the words out before they put a bad taste in his mouth. "Sometime over the winter holiday there will be a reading assignment posted for all my fifth years. A lot will be covered on the OWLs that we cannot cover here. As such, you'll have a reading assignment that will span the entirety of the spring term until your exams. There will also be an essay assignment posted which will be worth extra credit and a minimum of fifty points for adequate submissions. I'll be giving you some practice tests as well. And for those of you groaning right now, it really isn't that much, and that is beside the point that this is all optional. If you want to pass your OWLs, and you want to get rewarded for your diligence at the same time, then I implore you to take advantage of the opportunities given you. With that, you are dismissed. I wish you all an agreeable holiday." The centaur sighed, glad that it was over for the time being. Bannishtar may never have been a student at Hogwarts, but he understood their pain during OWL years. He hated covering these subjects, perhaps, more than his students hated listening to it.

His card revealed The Chariot so he showed it to her. "As for yours," his lips turned into a slight smirk, nodding towards her card, "there might be more about your Yule Ball date than it seems." He wasn't serious with his statement because he knew Nikolai and Flavia were just friends, the same as him and her. However, he still couldn't help but say this, for whatever reason he didn't know. Edward didn't hear his Professor ending his lesson because he was talking to Flavia but he saw several students getting up and leaving with a despaired look on their faces. "Is it over already," he told Flavia sarcastically, "I was just beginning to have fun."

Beth squealed excitedly, "I mean there aren't many wizards who know this book - or any muggle literature for that matter." It was one of her favorite books as well. She read a lot when she was younger. When there was raining outside there was not much else to do. Literally, her best friend at the orphanage was the library, most of the other kids thought her weird even before she unconsciously started hurling books at the roguish boys without touching them. She blushed a little when Rod told her she'd pass the exam, she found it hard to believe but it made her feel a lot better when someone like Rod said it. She respected him, even admired in a way, and was really glad to have him as a friend. She'd have to thank June sometime for introducing them. "Yeah, that's a good idea," she nodded, "I only need to catch up on my Auror-subject but hopefully there won't be too much of that, especially in Herbology." Beth paled at after hearing how many assignments the got. "Well," she looked back at Rodrigo, "I think we could ask June and do these together. Or somebody else as well. It would be faster than doing it on our owns."

"It would be a lot faster," As long as it meant that he and his friends would understand the stuff better, then Rodrigo was all for it. And with the amount of things they were constantly being set, the quicker he could get an assignment done - and done well - the better. Rodrigo stood up and stretched out his legs. It surprised him how quickly the morning had gone. After all, it was lunch time already! Rodrigo picked up his satchel and started to put all of his stuff in it. "C'mon, it's time for lunch," Rodrigo smiled, swinging the satchel over his shoulder. He slowly walked over to the doorway, and exited the classroom.

It was almost like the whole situation was too good to be true. His better judgment told him to be careful, but his screaming hormones drowned it out. As such, he decided to go along with it, for now. To Dave's relief, the bell for lunch rang and interrupted the awkward silence. "Alright," Dave said, picking up his books and slinging his bag over his back. "I'll head down to the dungeon to grab my jacket. Meet you in the great hall?" he asked, nodding to the girl as he left the classroom.

When he was done, he looked around to see that most students had already left. His eyes rested upon Beth who was also getting ready to leave the classroom. "Hey," he approached her with a slight smile, "want me to accompany you to the Great Hall?" He knew that most Slytherins disapproved of anybody from their house to be friends with a Hufflepuff. Even though it took him some time to realize this, he couldn't care less. Beth recognized the voice right away and beamed up at him, "of course, that would be great!" With this the two of them walked out of the classroom.
