Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Seventh Year. Lori rocks! But srsly, Morgan is the best! I love Malynne! But not as much as I LOVE ANNA AND LORI. BUT MORGAN STILL PWNS THEM ALL, THE END. I love Meg she is so awesome and epic. Did I mention how silly Jess is?

Dave looked up from his work as Precious and Ariana spoke, hearing himself mentioned as Precious "perfect boyfriend". The description of him as perfect made it difficult for him not to smile; he laughed under his breath and returned his work, but looked up again as Ariana, one of Precious' new followers, agreed with the description of him being "perfect".

Dave looked the girl up and down. Ariana was a natural blond with the body to match the beauty, and the way she spoke gave off an air of superiority, although not the fake sense of pride that most of the Slytherin girls had; Dave could tell that she had her wits about her, which was pretty rare from one of Precious' friends. Dave caught himself staring for longer than he should, but Precious wouldn't notice as he was sitting in the row behind her so she could sit with her girls. Dave stared at the girl's reflection in her handheld mirror, almost daring her to catch his gaze.

Jack reached up and scratched his head as he got partway through his essay, but he felt as if there was nothing more he could write. Jack generally didn't struggle with his work, but he always thought himself to take a more direct approach to things, which was why things like the fundamentals of magic and theory generally didn't make a lot of sense to him; he was more of a wandwork type of guy. Looking around the classroom, he noticed that there were pockets of chatter here and there, so he figured it would be in his best interest to ask someone for help.

"Hey Cuz," Jack greeted his cousin Jordanna as he got up and took the vacant seat beside her, which was towards the back of the class. "Having any luck with this junk? Because I'm not."

Eve stood outside the Magical Concepts classroom almost hesitant to go in. She knew she was late, and wondered if being new was a good excuse. She waited a few more seconds, and picked up her bag from the floor and entered the room. It was filled with random people who were talking amongst themselves and standing at tables.
Ignoring them, she walked to the second row from the last row and took a seat in the middle. Eve opened her bag and pulled out two pieces of parchment, quill and ink and read the board. Sounds difficult She thought to herself, while writing her name on the parchment. She looked up and watched the others, trying to get a feel on what she was supposed to be doing. I guess I should be getting up and finding the energy.

Eve stood up and went to one of the tables. Nothing seemed very interesting about these items at all. She held the instruction manual and flipped through it, trying to make sense of what the professor wanted her to do.

Jordanna didn't bother to look up when Jack took a seat beside her and began asking her questions about the assignment.

"No," Jordanna responded bluntly, her voice devoid of any concern for her cousin. "Why don't you go and ask someone who cares, because I don't," she told him, not wanting him to be around her. "Didn't I tell you not to bother me when people are around? Don't you have any friends of your own?" she asked, trying to shrug him off. A hint of guilt shot up Jordanna's spine as she said what she said, as she realized that her cousin probably had more luck with being social than she did. But so what? He was weak; he cared too easily for people, whereas Jordanna couldn't care less about the majority of her fellow students. Again, the guilt flooded Jordanna's system. She couldn't even bring herself to acknowledge her cousin, halfblood or not.

"Go talk to someone else; I'm trying to get this done before the period ends."

After several tries even less eventfull than her first, Ella was beginning to get frustrated. Other people had managed get something to happen, why couldn't she?

Deciding to try one more time, Ella picked up the only thing left at the table she was working at--a silver, old-fashioned hairbrush that looked as if it had seen better days. She held it tightly in her left hand and concentrated on feeling the magic inside it. Almost immediatly she felt something odd, barely noticable at first, but after a few seconds the sensation almost made her drop the brush in suprise. All frustrations forgotten, Ella focused all of her energy on what she hoped was "pure magic," her forehead slightly wrinkled in concentration. After several moments where it seemed as though her efforts were doing nothing whatsoever the hairbrush began to glow, almost unnoticably, untill a small, dim light was hovering over the object. It stayed stationary for only a moment before dissapearing once more.

It wasn't much, but it was something. That simple accomplishment of having done something other than day-dream in this class made Ella grin...perhaps there was some use to Magical Theory afterall....

Jordanna looked up as the girl beside her managed to pull some of the pure magic out of a hairbrush at their table. Her mouth opened slightly as a small orb of faint light emanated from the brush and settled over the brush before simply vanishing from view.

"Wow," Jordanna said in shock as Ella smiled at her accomplishment. "Looks like Tortal isn't totally off his rocker after all," she said, smirking to herself. At once, Jordanna felt blood rush to her face and forced herself to close her mouth to hide the smile that had surfaced at Ella's success. It wasn't like Jordanna to initiate conversation with someone, especially someone like Ella, who, as far as Jordanna knew, was just a nice girl in the wrong house. Jordanna didn't even know if she was a pureblood, but then again, focusing on blood status hadn't gotten Jordanna very far in the past anyway.

It took Ella a moment to realize that someone was talking to her. After all, it wasn't often that she spoke to anyone these days, let alone a Slytherin.

"No....I guess not." she said, her eyebrow raised. The girl seemed harmless enough at the moment, but that didn't mean mush when it came to a Slytherin...espically one like Jordanna who, as far as Ella could tell, was just about as much of a Slytherin-Purist as one could get.

"Have you...had any luck yet?" she asked, out of lack of anything else to say.

Eve glanced over at the other two girls who were standing at the same table with her, and listened discreetly to their conversation. She wondered if she should ask for help, since she had been late and had no idea what was expected of her. It was obvious she was to write an essay, but about what? She had racked her brain and could not figure out how they were supposed to do this activity. Eve turned her head, blocking out the girls chatter, and looked over at the professor, and turned back to the instruction manual.

Biting the bullet, Eve sighed and looked at the girls. "I'm sorry for bothering you. Can you help me?" She asked.

"No," Jordanna said simply, shaking her head as the girl asked her if she had any luck with what they were supposed to be doing at the moment. "I actually just finished the writing portion," she declared, setting down her quill beside the parchment, which was now full of long-winded paragraphs about pure magic, most of which was purely guesswork, similar to the rest of the class' content. "I uh, I've never really had much luck with this class; it seems to me like it's tailored to people with certain talents that not everyone has." Jordanna looked at the items on the table where they were sitting, but decided not to try it out, as her mind was far too preoccupied with the fact that she was actually talking to someone who wasn't Julian. It was almost as if Jordanna was breaking her own rules, but there was something she enjoyed about it. "I'm Jordanna," she said, introducing herself. "And you're Ella, right? We've had classes together before, but we haven't really spoken, have we?"

Jordanna looked up as a Gryffindor girl approached her and Ella. She raised an eyebrow at the girl and gave her a weird look. Did she really just come up to two Slytherin girls and ask for help? Jordanna's first response would be to tell the girl off immediately, but for some reason she didn't want to put Ella off by making herself into a bitch.

"Uh, we actually just finished, but I'm sure Jack here can help you," Jordanna responded, nudging her cousin in the ribs.

The Slytherin gave her a weird look as Eve asked her the question. What is her problem? She inwardly wondered. Being from a different school, Eve was unaware of the prejudices between the two groups. Eve folded her arms defensively, and looked at the male she had just suggested she could get help from. "Very well." Eve replied, turning away from the Slytherin.
She realized that she might have to just figure out this herself. Asking someone for help was hard enough already, but being rejected help embarrassed her. She felt stupid.

"Huh?" Jack said, jumping slightly as Jordanna gave him a sharp nudge in the ribs. "Oh, uh, yeah sure. I'll borrow that, if you don't mind," he said, picking up his parchment and grabbing the hairbrush that Ella seemed to have some success with, which at least eliminated them having to test out all the items for one that could possibly work. "Here, why don't we go sit over here?" Jack suggested, moving back towards the center of the class where he had originally sat.

"So, I've never seen you around before. Are you new around here?" Jack asked. "The name's Jack, by the way. Jack Bauer. That one that gave you the funny face is my cousin Jordanna. Don't take it personal; she's just as short with me as well, and we're related."

"Eh, no...I don't think we've really run in the same circles" Ella said, a small smile forming on her lips at what she was sure was a gross understatement--most of the people in Jordanna's "circle" most likely saw Ella as someone who insulted Slytherin just be being in their house.

Then again, Jordanna had spoken to her..and not just in passing, just actually made an effort to be somewhat friendly. Maybe Ella had the wrong impression of the girl...and in any case, would it kill her to make the same effort?

Just then, a Gryffindor came over and spoke to the pair. This in itself was suprising--it was no secret that their two houses had a deep-seaded rivalry that went way beyond Quidditch. Before Ella could even say a word, Jordanna suprised her once more by actually being quite civil to the girl. Ella, too, refrained from saying anything, opting to merely nod in agreement with Jordana.

"Isn't that an unfortunate truth," Jordanna commented, acknowledging Ella's statement that they had run in different circles. "I'm not sure you could refer to any of my groups as 'social circles', seeing as all they ever do to each other is change friends and enemies by the week, kind of like a soap opera; there's always someone at someone else's throat, whether it's about blood or boyfriends or whatever. Pretty ridiculous really." Jordanna smiled at what she was saying; it felt almost freeing to admit how jaded the majority of their house's definition of friendship was.

"How about you? Not that I care, but you don't strike me as a pure blood. Either that, or you just don't seem like the type who cares. I've never really seen you being mean to anyone, which is a rarity among us Slytherin females, wouldn't you say?" Jordanna asked, smirking.

Precious rolled her eyes as Aria complained about single. It seemed as if all the girls needed a boyfriend-or they were trying to copy her. "Aria, Aria, Aria! Not everyone needs a boyfriend-they don't complete your life. To be honest, it's better to be single," she lowered her voice. "That way you're not tied down." she said through clenched teeth. She watched as Aria primped herself.

As if Aria had a chance with anyone.

Ian had a little trouble at first. He held his hand over a pair of silver scales, unable to make anything happen. He dropped his hand and sighed in frustration. It wasn't long, however, before he learned how to cheat at this. If his theory was correct, then he could manipulate the pure energy through the elementium.

Hah. Ian has theories. Geeze, who was he, Nightshade?

This sort of thing required abstract thinking, and what he was doing was certainly abstract--even he didn't know what he was doing as he replaced his hand over the scales.

"Elementium Aquae," he whispered. First, there was that familiar sensation of emptying, as if something was leaving his body, though he could not place what. Unlike normal magic, the elementium seemed to actually take something from its user. However, with no water to manipulate, the energy seemed to leave him and simply dissipate. He stopped the flow, panting a little. It seemed to take a lot more out of him than he'd thought it would. He was even sweating a little, and he didn't even get enough energy to count for anything. His throat was dry. He needed a drink.

Drink. That's it! Ian didn't know why he didn't try that first.

"Aguamenti," he said, causing water to flow from the tip of his wand. "Elementium Aquae," the water floated in mid-air in the shape of a marble, not a single drop falling to the floor. It looked like a flowing glass marble. That was the first thing Ian learned how to do, actually. He hadn't yet mastered stopping the flow completely (which would, theoretically, create a kind of crystal of suspended water).

Face screwed up against the sense of draining fatigue he was now feeling, Ian held his free hand now over the "water marble". The book said this was possible, though at the time he did not understand what it had meant by "water's pure essence", but if his theory was correct, it was synonymous with pure magical energy.

The water suddenly began to shift and shimmer in an almost eerie fashion. A rainbow spectrum of colors seemed to move across its surface. Once in a while, sparks of color would rise and fall from the orb. Ian concentrated a bit harder as a spark rose, trying to imagine latching on to it and pulling. It seemed to work, the many-colored arc stretched taught, and Ian strained his mind to pull. He was really sweating now, gritting his teeth, every muscle in his body was tense. Finally, a spectrum of colors were pulled seemingly out of the water in the shape of a second orb, floating above the first; a many-colored shadow of the one below.

There was a searing pain in Ian's head, then, and he felt as though his reserves were nearly empty. He had no choice but to let go, he reasoned. His legs could no longer hold him, and he fell to the floor, as did the water. The multi-colored orb itself dissipated, leaving Ian on his hands and knees, sweating and gasping for breath as the water on the floor soaked into his robes.

Aria was quite taken aback at Precious's comment, it sounded almost like Precious herself didn't want to be tied down. Aria had no idea why Precious would feel like this, when she had a guy like Dave. Speak of the devil thought Aria as she looked in her compact mirror. If she tilted it slightly, not looking at her own face, she could see that Dave was watching her from his seat near the back of the class. Was he...checking her out? It certaintly looked that way, not that Aria minded. Even though she knew that Dave was currently off limits, unless she wanted to face Precious's wrath, she had always thought he was cute...and the idea that he was attracted to her? Almost too much to bear. Aria tilted her mirror and made eye contact with Dave, smiling at him. She disguised this smile by pretending she was reacting to Precious. "I guess so, every girls entitled to some fun. I might as well enjoy myself while I can."

Oscar turned from looking at Daniela to glance at some of the other students in the class. Sat not too far away was Dave, the guy he'd insulted earlier at breakfast. He noticed that Dave was staring at a compact mirror that a girl was holding, but only cottoned on a few seconds later that Dave was actually looking at the girls reflection in the mirror. Judging by the expression on his face he was clearly giving her a quick once-over and enjoying it too. Oscar didn't know much about Dave, but he knew that he was currently dating Precious, the chief Slytherin bitch. As much as Oscar didn't like Precious, he still had some respect for their relationship, whilst Dave clearly didn't. Oscar shot him a glare and thought "If you so much as look at Daniela, I'll kill you."

Dave smirked devilishly as Ariana tilted her mirror and made eye contact with him, and instead of giving him a weird look, she smiled back. Her smile was absolutely stunning; she just gave you this sweet little smirk that just barely revealed a marvelous set of teeth, and when you looked into her eyes and knew she was focusing on you, well, it was hard to describe. Dave was almost too distracted to hear Precious' comment, but, to be honest, he didn't really care at the moment.

If that's the way she feels, fine. I'm more than certain she'll care if she finds out I'm checking out one of her friends. But she can't blame me; just look at her. Precious is good looking, but that other girl one ups her for sure.

Looking past Ariana slightly, Dave saw Oscar towards the other side of the class. At first he assumed that he was checking out Ariana as well, but the expression on his face was hardened. What was his problem? Dave simply put on a smile, which was over exaggeratedly fake and shook his head at him. Looking back at Ariana and listening in, he laughed slightly as she mentioned enjoying herself while she could. Maybe he could be a part of that enjoyment?

Eve followed Jack to the seats he had pointed to and sat down in one of them. "My name is Eve." She told him. "It's very nice to make your acquaintance." All of a sudden she realized she still had the manual in her hand. "Do you think we'll need this?" She asked Jack.
Eve didn't care if Jacks relative was mean. It was life, and sometimes you had to deal with people like her. The girl however had been civil to her, although she had rejected to help Gweneve. What does it matter. I would have done the same thing. She smirked, and turned to Jack. "Yes. I'm new. Today is my first day. It was rather shocking when I learned I had to attend class so soon."

Although he had been standing relatively near, Mitchell hadn't been watching Ian carry out the task. But, as he looked over to where Ponte du Lac had been working, Mitchell noticed something a little more than unusual. He took a few steps toward the other Slytherin and stared down at him.

"Looks like someone pushed themselves out of their own ability," Mitch said, with a hint of spite to his voice. In truth, Mitchell was still a bit miffed at Ian singling him out over the breakfast table. He hadn't shown it at the time, but things always tended to catch up with him later.

Mitch hadn't wanted to start any arguments or anything then anyway, so a small comment whilst Ponte du Lac was on the floor in their Magical Concepts lesson, sounded more than reasonable.

Taking a small gulp, Mitchell scrutinised the boy, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly. "Are you alright?" he asked with a little genuine concern breaking into his tone. A part of him wondered why Ian was kneeling in a puddle of water, but it was not for him to question, or even concern himself with.

He looked over to where Precious and some of her 'friends' were, Mitchell smiled at Preci, his eyes flickering over to Dave momentarily. Something told him that the couple weren't going to last very long.

Or maybe it was just wishful thinking on Mitchell's part.
