Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

The First Task; Year 5 - Day 3 - The First Task

Meriadoc grinned. "Ov course, ov course. But you cannot allow anybody to get too close to you, Morozov, for they could turn on you at any moment. There vill alvays be somebody who is jealous ov you and they vill try to ruin your success," he remarked. "This girl, her skills vill be better than those ov her schoolmates, but I am unsure ov her's. She vill, ov course, be capable. But she is no match for Piotr."

The final Champion, Tristan Nightshade, ran onto the grounds and joined Piotr and Mariane. "Good, the Task, it vill start soon," he added as the boy panted then adjusted himself. His eyes were still wandering, waiting for something to happen. If all went well, Piotr would come in first in the Task. However, there were untrustworthy people around. He was unsure of whom he could trust. Anybody could be out to get any of the Champions at this very second.

Sawyer stood, slightly confused as Mitchell came and left...with Precious. She made a mental note to ask either one later, she couldn't help but be curious. Precious was with Dave as far as Sawyer could remember, but relationships at Hogwarts came and went faster than a centaur was able to ... trot. Maverick's voice interupted her thoughts and she quickly looked around, her eyes skipping Mariane habitually and landed on Tristan Nightshade. The boy of the hour. "Ahh, finally." Sawyer said in an exasperated tone, glancing to the filling rows of seats.

"Let's get a chair, or else we'll be standing in the back and watching. I want to be up close and personal when it's time Tristan competes. Ringside seats," Sawyer joked, tugging her arm which was still looped with Maverick's towards the chairs. "But then again, if the task sucks and we're standing...we can just bail." She suggested, turning and smiling at Maverick.

Maverick allowed Sawyer to lead him to a pair of seats, and they both sat down, their arms still interlaced. "So, Sawyer, are you ready?" he said, grinning. When Sawyer suggested that they leave if the Task would not be interesting, he nodded. "Of course, of course." He chuckled to himself and adjusted himself in his seat, finding a comfortable position. "Come now, Nightshade, you don't want to keep your fans waiting, do you?" he said quietly, smirking.

"So your parents are muggle borns?" Avery inferred. She shifted in her seat as he asked about her parents. It was an innocent enough question, but it reminded her of the letter. She stuck that in the bak of her mind and looked only at the surface of the question.

"Mum works to keep the magical creatures around us from muggle territory, and Dad's uses wizard astronomy to tell muggle's fortunes," she said. "You see, we need an income of both muggle money and wizard gold to get all our supplies," she said, shrugging. It was why they didn't have much money. Oh, they had an average amount, enough to get by without having second hand things, but not with Cosmo now, too. Yet again, she thrust that thought to the back of her mind. She noticed Tristan entering.

She grinned. "It looks as if Tristan hasn't bailed after all," she said.

Horacio sat on an isolated part of the bench, his ferret wiggled into his lap comfortably as it, too, appeared to watch the proceedings. Probably, it was really just watching a bug and contemplating it as dinner, or something. Who knew? On the other hand, Horacio always preferred to entertain the thought that his ferret was smarter than the average one...special. Even if it wasn't true.

He idly stroked it amidst the half silence, rather glad he'd chosen to sit away from the hoards. Not only would it startle the ferret to no end, but Horacio definitely did not feel like being amongst the smelly, sweaty, noisy masses that would be cheering the little boy champion on. Horacio smirked at the thought. Tristan? Really? Horacio hadn't particularly cared about him before....and still didn't.

Well, okay. Maybe that was a bit of a fib. He'd been chosen as champion, that warranted a little attention. Then again though, Horacio had never had any intention of inputting his name up for the pickings. He preferred it when people could only guess the extent of his abilities. But never actually had a clue, until it was too late.

Yea. Big thoughts for a 15 year old.

Leaning back against the stands behind him, he saw Tristan rush into the grounds, panting. Finally, the task could begin. He'd been getting impatient. Patience had never been his greatest asset, much to his grandfather's chagrin. He'd always drilled it into Horacio how neccesary it was....but Horacio hated waiting. Ah well.

Leaning forward, arms on knees, he clasped his hands together and placed them under his chin as he watched, his gaze moving once more over to Mariane. He'd have to get back to her after the Task was finished. She'd prove useful to his standings within Hogwarts. Beautiful, AND a champion? Brilliant combination.

Beth bolted up when she saw that all champions were present. Not wasting a minute, she pushed herself through the crowd, uttering a "Sorry!" every time she stomped on someone's foot. Her goal was to get a decent seat where she could see all the action before every seat were taken. She cursed herself for not doing so earlier but finally she saw a few free spots at the top of the stand. Beth rushed up the steps before she almost ran into a boy leaning over the railing. She raised her eyebrows in amused expression but thinking he didn't notice her she took the first seat, at the end of the row. There truely was a nice view and Beth grew even more excited and impationt to seeing the First Task start begin.

It's cute that everyone thinks they can be a queen, but remember who came FIRST.

Tinsley shrugged, looking at Julian curiously before standing on the tip of her toes to scan the crowd with all the grace she could clumsily muster. She placed her hand on Julian's shoulder to steady herself as she looked around, and bit her lip.

Was that Ian? With...Cole?

Tinsley struggled to ignore the pressing mixture of unpleasant emotions building in her chest. She turned quickly to look at Julian. At least with him, she didn't have to force a smile, even if she suddenly felt sick to her stomach. The worst part was, she very well knew why--not that she was about to admit to it. She felt like she'd be admitting to inconceivable crimes. Yes, it was best to ignore these feelings...

Who knew. Maybe Cole and Ian would be perfect for each other.

Yeah, that was likely. Just as perfect as Tinsley was for Tristan Nightshade. Scoffing, but quite sure Julian would assume it was because he had just brought up the little issue of Sawyer West, Tinsley rolled her eyes.

"I wouldn't trust Sawyer as far as I could throw her, frankly," snickered Tinsley. "and that's not very far. I wouldn't even bother getting my hands dirty with her." Tinsley looked into Julian's eyes, moving her face very close to his. "I know you think about everything with a beating heart that has feminine qualities. But this is one girl you might not want to think about. She's like a cockroach. Filthy, and plus. She never dies."

Tinsley said this with the air of someone who had definitely tried, and failed. She wasn't kidding.

"But you like danger. You probably won't listen to me. As far as revenge..." Tinsley watched Sawyer silently, from the corner of her eyes. She seemed like an ideal target to take out her mounting aggression on--like a human punching bag. But Sawyer was one that would punch back. Not so fun. "...it's in the past."

Sawyer had won over Tins once before. The greedy Slytherin wasn't about to let the wicked witch of the West destroy her life--again.

"Abe!"

Emma waved, wobbling to sit with Abe, June, and Rod. Her pale skin was glowing in the chilly air, her arms bare. Around her neck, her blue scarf was waving in the air, and on her hat was a deep blue beret. Her shirt, cheering on Tristan with a silly slogan and flashing blue letters, made Emma look something like a funny Christmas ornament. It didn't help that Tristan's Quidditch number was on the back, too. Emma was just going to go all out for her friend, her champion--and well, she pretty much figured he was nervous beyond words. Anyone in their right mind would. Hopefully Tris would see Emma looking like a regular Nightshade groupie and laugh.

"Here you are!" said Em breathlessly. She eyed the space between Abe and June suspiciously, and then reminded herself to be polite. It was just in her genes. Emma's mother hadn't raised her to snub anyone. "Hi, you're...Jenny, aren't you? Oh, no. You're June." Twins--or quadruplets, or gazillionuplets, whatever they were--were so confusing sometimes. "Hi, I'm Emma." She smiled at Rodrigo, glanced at Abe, and sat on the side that June wasn't sitting.

A burst of blue with a couple of Hufflepuffs, Emma felt the uncanny need to prove herself. Feeling a little uncomfortable, Emma leaned in and smiled at Abe uncertainly. Had she made a mistake in sitting with them? She wasn't so sure. Maybe she ought to ditch and find Addie...

Abe turned his head as he heard his name, but the crowd was so dense he thought it was a fluke in his hearing. Suddenly a girl burst into sight, her outfit completely blue, bright and bold complete with the blonde curly hair Abe loved. A smile burst onto his face as Emma approached. "Emma!" He exclaimed in a joyous tone, watching as the Ravenclaw took a seat next to him. "Nice shirt," Abe added with a wink.

Glancing slightly at June, Abe offered her a small smile. It didn't occur to him that June might feel abandoned, she had Rodrigo! Turning back to Emma, Abe laughed, "Hmm, I wonder who you're rooting for..." He said, pretending to be momentarily clueless before smiling again. Abe glanced towards the champions. He had first intented to cheer on Tristan...but Mariane...whoa, perhaps he could cheer them both on?

Cash nodded solemnly as Meriadoc spoke. His fellow Durmstrang was right, and in these dark times - Cash looked around cautiously - one could never be too carefully. Even the schoolmate he was talking with now, he felt little trust towards because as Meriadoc stated, you can never trust someone too carefully for you never knew when they would turn on you. "Very true, vords of visdom." He said in a low voice, his eyes still scanning the forest.

Cash had only relied on himself his entire life. Since his father died, he had to take care of the family. He didn't accept help, he did everything on his own. But now that his mother was to remarry, Cash had finally seized the chance to be free. He didn't trust the man, but he wasn't going to sacrifice his sanity to care for his family. "Vut do you suppose they are vaiting for?" Cash asked his companion, "All the champions have arrived..." He commented. But Cash could not see the Headmistress of Hogwarts. Perhaps she was just too short for him to see through the dense amount of bodies pressed around him.

Emma beamed triumphantly. "That would be Tristan J. Nightshade, thank you very much!" Em laughed softly, and shivered slightly. Bare arms in this weather was not the smartest of Em's choices. She adjusted the navy beret sitting on her massive curls. "I was hoping I didn't overdo it."

Emma leaned in closer towards Abe, her lips brushing against his cheek as she went to whisper in his ear. "I don't want your friends to think I'm, like, crazy."

Pulling away, Emma grinned sheepishly. "Even though I so am."

June was just about to finally give in for the temptation of leaning into Abe for warmth, when Emma appeared. Inwards, she howled, mad that this girl suddenly ruined everything. Now there at least wouldn't be a awkward situation, but June did not want to share. Perhaps Rodrigo could be shared right now, but not ABE. She didn't allow her childish jealousy surface, or so she though, but simply swallowed it, hiding it deep within her.

Her grumpy mood was not lightened when Emma couldn't remember her name. Sure, she didn't mind being called 'uh... one of those Brooks...', it had happened so much it was customary to her. Normally, she would find it wonderful to be mixed with Jenny, her amazingly beautiful, but harsh, cold sister. They are vapid and... Abe's word spun in her head. She did not focus on it, instead she just creeped further into her cocoon, hiding. Trying to build a defense, so she would not get hurt.

Greeting Emma with a smile, June moved closer to Rodrigo, quickly removing all signs that she and Abe was anything more that just randomly seated next to eachother. With sad eyes, June turned to Rodrigo, wondering if he felt this bad when he had to share June with Abe. Filled with guilt, she tried to smile warmly at her friend, but ended up just feeling fake and hollow, "Sorry," June had intended to mouth it, and was startled when sound was put to it anyways. It was not very loud, but if someone had just listened that very second, they'd have heard it.

It did not help June to know that if she turned to Rodrigo for warmth and comfort, it would mean that she would be using Rodrigo now, turning to him once Abe was taken, like a child would chose a less exciting toy if the shiniest one was taken. She could not do that to her best friend, no matter how much it hurt not to. She curled up in her seat, breathing at her hands to keep them from becoming ice.

Why did it always have to get messed up for June Brooks?

"Dark times, these," Meriadoc replied, grinning. "Ov course, vat are they vaiting for? The Task must start soon, or I vill be too bored vith the lack ov entertainment that I vill leave the stadium!" Meriadoc was growing impatient. He had been waiting for quite some time, and they had not begun the Task. The Champions were present, the judges were present... were they? Bidelia Belleford was nowhere to be seen. It could have been that she was a very short woman, but that still did not detract from the fact that Meriadoc could see over the crowd, even with the cheap seats that Cash and he had. "But ov course they must start soon!" he said, sounding outraged.

They had taken long enough. It was not wise to be waiting upon one person while the entirety of about three schools was waiting. Dark times, dark times. Meriadoc was sure that it was not even wise to have the tournament this year. If it were back in his First Year at Durmstrang, nearly eight years ago, he would have approved. There was not much that would have hindered the competition then. But now, with this Azariah person at large, it was very stupid to be doing something like this.

Sixth Year, Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain

As Rodrigo spotted Tristan going through the crowd, he beamed. So now the first task could begin. All his complaints from the moment before were gone, and Rodrigo couldn't help but feel a little excited. Sure, the cold weather and the wind was still there, but now that some action would be happening soon, well it just made it a little more bearable. He was so curious as to what the champions would have to do, and also what the outcome would be. Rodrigo was undecided as to whom he was supporting though. Out of loyalty to his school, he was supposedly meant to be supporting Tristan, and this was probably the case. But Rodrigo felt that the tournament wasn't just about the tasks, and the winner. To him, it was more about making friends outside of Hogwarts. Or maybe, something more than friends? His mind flashed to Ida, and Rodrigo's heart leapt.

As a Ravenclaw girl sat next to Abe, and introduced herself as Emma, Rodrigo gave her a friendly nod. "It's Rodrigo." he chirped, before turning his head down to look at June, sitting next to him. He frowned. Maybe it was just Rod, but yet again, the atmosphere seemed to have been brought right back down again. He heard her say sorry, but it just made Rodrigo feel confused. What did she have to be sorry for? June hadn't done anything which he knew of, and she was a good person. Rodrigo looked into her eyes, and leaned toward her, so he could whisper into her ear. "Don't be sorry." Rodrigo then paused, before saying something else. "Explain to me later, okay?"

With that, Rodrigo returned to his original position, and smiled at June, hoping to cheer his friend up. Sure, there was a flicker of sorrow in it, but he hoped that June would feel better soon. It just seemed a little strange to Rod, that she started acting sad as soon as the 'Emma' girl came along. And now that he thought about it, Rodrigo felt his best friend sitting a little closer to him than where she had originally taken a place. She did have a lot of explaining to do later, for Rodrigo was now even more confused.

Abe snickered, "Sweets, you couldn't hide the fact that you're crazy even if you tried." He joked, stretching his arm out and placing it around her shoulders. He was cold, in a sweater. She was in a t-shirt, Emma had to be freezing. To deny it would be insane. "You know, for a Ravenclaw, you don't use your head much do you?" He joked, referring to her t-shirt in the November chill.

Constanta took her time getting out to the grounds and eventually found herself searching for a seat in the crowd of Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang students. They were packed in tightly, but eventually she squeezed herself into a spot not too far from the champions. She looked to her left and saw a seventh year Gryffindor she didn't recognize, and ignored him; on the other side, she found that she was sitting next to Maverick Long. He seemed to be quite cozy with Sawyer West, an apparent ex-friend of Tinsley's? She wasn't totally sure.

It had been a while since she saw him this close. Fond memories flashed in her head of breaking his wand in half at the Halloween party over a misunderstanding. Well, full moons always made her moody. And he was still one of the most attractive Slytherins she'd seen. Deciding to take a chance, she gently poked his shoulder. "Long time no see."

Somebody tapped on Maverick's shoulder. Who could it be, but Constanta Lupei, the girl with whom he had had an altercation in the past.

"Long time no see."

Maverick looked at her closely. It hadn't been since the year previous that he had laid eyes on her so closely. He usually saw her from afar, tending to avoid her. It was difficult, however, for they were in the same House. "Constanta? What a--" he paused and looked at Sawyer for a moment, who seemed to be watching the field in anticipation. "What a pleasant surprise." He stressed the word, "pleasant." It was almost anything but. What exactly did Constanta intend to gain by speaking to him when he was clearly attending the event with Sawyer West? "To what do I owe this unexpected, yet fortunate, visit?"

Constanta eyed him closely. There was something odd in the way he said 'pleasant' that made her not quite believe him. She shrugged. "I only came out to see our champion compete, is all. There are no seats left, so please don't be flattered that I chose the one next to you." She yawned, annoyed that still nothing had happened on the ground below. She eyed the Durmstrang champion; he was also quite handsome, and she felt more inclined to root for him than for Tristan. After all, they both came from Eastern Europe unlike most people here, so she felt a sort of kinship with those from Durmstrang.

"But since I am here. May I ask what tempted you to take up with the probably delightful girl sitting next to you? She seems... nice."

Maverick grinned. "Oh, come now, Constanta. You are going to say to me that you came upon me by chance? If, for some reason, you had, you would not need to strike up conversation, would you? You spoke to me of your own free will, so why would I not be flattered? After all, you still look as thrilling as usual," he added in a whisper. She mentioned Sawyer, and he shrugged slightly. "Is it not my business with whom I escort? Of course, if you must know, Sawyer and I are here simply as acquaintances." Was Constanta jealous? Maybe, then again, maybe not. She could simply be inquiring as to why he was attending the event with Sawyer.

Then again, Constanta was a very confusing girl. One minute she was fine, the next she was snapping your wand in half and going berserk. She could be feeling a conglomerate of emotions at once. She could be angry, infatuated, whatever one could think of. But Maverick simply adored it. It was, after all, for that reason and few others that drew him to Constanta in the first place.

Constanta laughed briefly. "Well, I have heard that those with great egos will jump through mental hoops in order to assure themselves that things are going their way. So I'll play along. How thrilling do I look?" she asked in a whisper as well, batting her eyelashes mockingly. She did feel something at the compliment but he would obviously gloat if she showed it.

"Of course you are entitled to your own business. I was only a little curious. And if you must really know why I chose to talk to you," she paused, looking over her shoulder at the oafish Gryffindor, "you need only see who else I'm sitting next to. Not that it wasn't a difficult choice," she added and pushed her hair back from her face.
