Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice
Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Mitchell laughed at Sierra's next surprise. "That," he paused, gasping for breath. "Would be hilarious!" Mitch nodded quickly as Sierra added a last comment, "Yes! It would be a best seller!" he chuckled under his breath. "Or maybe ... not." he added. The idea seemed hilarious, but it was silly.

Mitchell sighed weakly. His lungs felt weak from laughing so much, and his jaw hurt from smiling. Sierra seemed to bring out the best in him. Although, he was slightly sad that he couldn't say the same for Precious. Mitchell could never seem to let his guard down with the latter, not relax as much. But he was doing that with ease at that moment, so why it was so different when it was just him and Preci - well Mitch wanted to impress her. He wanted her. And with Sierra, his feelings were very different.

"As clueless as ever..." Mitchell repeated, snorting. It was so true.

She grinned, "I know right? Maybe not a best seller but at least a chart topper."

She laughed again. Normally it took forever to get her to open up to people, but for some reason, she had no problem whatsoever opening up with Mitchell. It was weird how the human mind worked, in all it's complexities.

"I hope they do the scores soon! I don't know how much longer I'll be able to last out here!" She smiled. "This actually wasn't so bad. Once you got past the whole Nightshade is our champion thing."

Sierra smiled again. It seemed like just being with Mitchell brought out something inside her that she hadn't seen for a very long time. And it was almost liberating. Almost.

Flavia had been standing for a long time. She went over to a pair of people who at least looked a bit decently Slytherin.

"Hey, Mitchell, and...Sierra?"
Flavia asked. She had never spoken to either of them before, but she decided it would be a good idea to start now. She really wanted to get to know Sierra.

"Want to go for dinner?"

June looked up, excited to see who came out first. Her happy, cheerful smile turned into a jealous, grumpy frown once she saw the blonde doll exit the forest. She didn't look so attractive, covered in mud and dirty clothes, messed up hair and with a hideous bell around her neck. Correcting her face into a grin, June could not help but smirk within, finding Quicompoix' resemblance to a cow too true. Fairy princess, yeah right, thought the hufflepuff, Quicompoix is a siren bitch trying to look innocent. Many girls played that card, acting as innocent as possible, so the final blow hurt more. So they didn't seem like total assholes when they stole your boyfriend and sucked their face. June nibbled on her lower lip, hoping that people couldn't read her mind. You were never sure at hogwarts...

Looking around if she saw some potential legilimenses, June flashed a grin at her friend, "I didn't catch the last bit, I got lost in my thoughts again, mind updating me?" Turning to watch the forest, she saw Tristan come with a limping Poitr, "There they..." Even from the distance, June found the wounds disturbing, and looked away. It wasn't just a picture in her history book, these were real. (June didn't doubt the authentic-ness of the wounds pictures, but they never made such a impact on her.)

Resting her head between her knees, June vowed not to look up untill they were gone, "Tell me when it's ok to look up, ok?"

IC: Craptastical, aye?

Sierra smiled at the newcomer, Flavia was it? "Sure! I'm just waiting for the scores, then I'll be on my way. Would you mind waiting?"

She grinned again, looking back at the field.

OOC: This is total crap, but I don't really know how much more elaborate I can get. :P

Mitchell looked up as yet another person joined them. He sighed, Mitch was a reasonable person, and he'd accepted Sierra coming and sitting next to him when there were limited seats, but when a person from out of the blue just asks if he wants to have dinner with them, well he wasn't overly keen. And when that person somehow knew his name? Well, Mitchell didn't have a clue who she was, and that was that. Although, he was fairly sure she was a Slytherin, otherwise they wouldn't have dared come speak to them. Not with Precious on his other side.

Mitch smirked and glanced at Preci. Her reaction was one he was looking forward to. Although Flavia hadn't addressed Precious, she'd ignored her - as if the Hindert girl wasn't there. This was, in Mitchell's opinion a little unwise. Mitchell was still somewhat expecting a reaction from Precious, even if it was only a little one.

His smile turned sly, and Mitchell looked up as Flavia with a malicious glint in his eyes. "Who... might you be?" he asked, though it sounded more of a demand than a question. Mitchell waited for her answer, looking up expectantly at the newcomer, with a raised eyebrow. "Well?" he said after several moments.

Mitch glanced over to Sierra, and nodded at her answer. "Yes, like she said, we're waiting for the results. So if you don't mind." Mitchell beckoned away from where they were sitting, clearly expecting Flavia to just run along and head back to the school without he and Sierra.

He should be more careful in future. Let your guard down, and allow one person to sit with you then suddenly, everyone thinks they're your friend. It ground on Mitchell's nerves. Maybe he was just better off acting like Precious did, with an immediate awareness to newcomers.

"Unless of course, you want to go with her?" Mitchell asked Sierra, he narrowed his eyes as he waited for Sierra's reply. A part of Mitchell really didn't want Fillipelli to go with Flavia, it would have been such a shame if she did. Sierra was starting to show potential, and Mitchell actually got along with her pretty well. If she did just go with Flavia, then it would be such a waste.

Sierra rolled her eyes, "I'm staying right here. You don't really think I'm leaving without you, do you Mitchell?"

She stifled a giggle. It was quite funny to hear Mitchell being dismissive. She was glad she had hit it off so well with Mitchell. At first she had expected to just sit and not talk, but the longer she was with him, the more she enjoyed his company. This newcomer was someone she had never seen around the castle before. She assumed Mitchell didn't know her either by the dismissive and irritated tone he had. She turned to Flavia.

"Sorry, but I'm not going anywhere just yet."

She raised her eyebrows a tad. It was strange of this girl to just come and approach them randomly.

Oh wait…I did that too. Whatever!

OOC: Sorry for how short it is! I'm going to the beach in literally two minutes! I'll be back on Friday though.

Headmistress and Head of S.A.V.I.O.R.

Bidelia listened intently as the Centaurs explained their perspective on the event, eyes twinkling faintly. The woman scanned the other judges, watching them deliberate.

"Well then, if you're all ready, let's begin, shall we?" The old woman placed her wand to her throat, turning to face the mass of students. "Sonorus."

"And thus, the final task is concluded. Miss Mariane Quicompoix emerged from the forest first, followed by Mr. Piotr Rasputin and Tristan Nightshade who assisted him. These three champions faced grave danger and difficult challenges as you no doubt heard from Mr. Moody's wonderful commentating.

All three champions did an excellent job, managing to show some of their best... and in some cases, worst, attributes."
The woman chuckled faintly, glancing back to the judges briefly before continuing.

"The Centaurs have debriefed us, quite thoroughly at that. The Centaurs feel that Mr. Rasputin resembled themselves in some ways, as he did not shy away from killing an animal, and yet had the wisdom to choose a young buck, as opposed to an old one. His methods could be brutal at times, though they got the job done. He did lose his composure at times when with Draconious, his guide. Though he pressed on, and greatly impressed them with his resolve to persevere with such great injuries. Unfortunately, Mr. Rasputin was forced to call for assistance in the end.

Now, let's see what the judges think of Mr. Rasputin's performance."

The old woman glanced back to the judges, nodding slightly as they raised their wands.

Moody: 6

Jacqueline: 6

Bidelia: 7

Jeremiah: 7

Ootenbuker: 8

"Which puts Mr. Rasputin at 34, an excellent start. Now then, let's see what the other champions have to offer.

Miss Quicompoix managed to accomplish her tasks quickly and efficiently, and also showed considerable knowledge that other wizards might lack. She managed to hit a deer with her arrow, without the assistance of magic, something neither of the other champions managed to accomplish. Her knowledge of herbs also impressed the Centaurs, as she used Lovage on the arrow tip to kill the deer. Unfortunately, Miss Quicompoix did not seem particularly tolerant of her guide, which could have endangered her success had Firenze decided he'd had enough.

All of our champions should remember, pride is a dangerous thing. Let's not forget, hm? Now then, the judging."

Moody: 8

Jacqueline: 9

Bidelia: 8

Jeremiah: 8

Ootenbuker: 7

"Placing Miss Quicompoix in the lead at 40 points. Last, but certainly not least, let's see how Mr. Nightshade fared.

Thought to be the underdog of the competition, Mr. Nightshade successfully faced tasks designed for more advanced students. He showed great compassion throughout the task, using less brutal methods to pass obstacles, and of course being least inclined to kill the deer. However, he allowed himself to be open minded, quickly coming to understand that some things must die for others to live. Mr. Nightshade was respectful of his guide, as he should be, allowing them to work as a team. And of course, once again, Mr. Nightshade showed great compassion when he stayed behind to help the fallen Durmstrang Champion, giving up his spot in the lead to assist another. Judges?"

Moody: 9

Jacqueline: 7

Bidelia: 9

Jeremiah: 9

Ootenbuker: 5

Naturally Dr. Ootenbuker would score unfairly, too much pride, once again. Tristan had saved his student, and he still insisted on scoring poorly. The old woman glanced back to the students, smiling once more. "And unless my math skills are failing, which I assure you, they are not, Mr. Nightshade has slipped into a close second at 39 points! This has turned out to be quite the interesting task, all the Champions are close, and all have a shot at winning. We'll just have to wait and see what happens at the next task."

Quietus.

Bidelia sighed, turning to face the other judges, nodding slightly to them. She could hear the mass of cheering and chattering students behind her. It had been quite the exciting start to the competition. The fact that Tristan was only one point behind Mariane would no doubt surprise many, she'd known he'd fare well.

The old woman made her way over to the medical tent, stepping inside. "Congratulations on the successful completion of your first task Champions. Now hold on to those rewards you received from the Centaurs, they will be your clues for the next task." She commented, addressing the group as a whole, before making her way over to Tristan. "Very well done Mr. Nightshade, congratulations." The woman smiled, holding her hand out to him.

Mariane had to bite her tongue to keep from rolling her eyes as Bidelia gave them a short reproach on pride. Which was right after her results were read. Mari heaved a sigh. It's better to be prideful than to be insecure.

When the old bag finished, she managed a false smile and a nod.

Mariane suddenly remembered the patch of fur in her pocket. The snow was in her other pocket, and presently chilling her left side.

She was in the lead--not by much, but she could double it easily the next time around. Now all she needed was a nice merlot scrub at Argelès Gazost, a spa village near Lourdes.

"Madame," Mariane pleaded, "Pouvez-vous rafraîchir mes cheveux et visage rapidement? Je ne veux pas l'impression une de Prophète où il y a de saleté enduite sur mon visage et brindilles dans mes cheveux."

Of all the times to be without a mirror.

Having his ruined armor removed was extremely painful due to the fact that it had been crushed into the wound when the gytrash's jaws had clamped down upon him. Still, he clenched his teeth and allowed the hearers to attend to him with little more than a growl as the ceramic armor was surgically removed from his injured leg. There was more blood, a lot more, and Piotr was given a strong dose of blood-replenishing potion. He looked up as the scores were being announced.

34. Better than he'd expected, and perhaps more than he deserved. Even though he felt he'd chosen right in asking for help, he knew he'd let his school down. He vowed then that such a thing would not happen again.

Belleford and Jeremiah both had been more than generous with their scores, but even more overly generous was Dr. Ootenbucker. And he'd given Tristan only a five. In Piotr's opinion, Tristan deserved to be in the lead right now. He'd rescued Piotr, after all. He looked over at Tristan, who was having his own injuries attended to at another portable table near him in the tent.

"I think that my Headmaster vas unfair. You deserved a better score," said Piotr to Tristan, "I...just vant you to know I am grateful, and that I am sorry for the way I may have treated you due to my preconceived notions." Piotr spoke with difficulty. There were two perfectly understandable explanations for this: 1.) He had to struggle to find the words in English that expressed what he wanted to express. 2.) Admitting that one is wrong and apologizing is almost never easy.

"I...did not think that you ver...able to do this tournament. I stand corrected."

As his review and scores were announced by Professor Belleford his heart lifted as he saw he was now in 2nd place! And only 1 point behind the leader! After weeks of receiving sneers and dismissive comments about his chances of success in the Tournament he could finally hold his head high and say, 'Look what I did! I held my own!' Tristan smiled to himself, content that he had done himself and Hogwarts proud, living to fight another day.

As he sat there having his cuts and bruises attended to by a mediwitch, Piotr, seated to his right and receiving similar treatment, spoke up, "I think that my Headmaster vas unfair. You deserved a better score...I just vant you to know I am grateful, and that I am sorry for the way I may have treated you due to my preconceived notions."

He sat stunned for several seconds, quite surprised at the apology yet appreciative none the less. He too attempted to find the words for the situation, "No worries mate." The Australian in him coming out, "And thanks." The thank you was referring more to the apology concerning the way he had been treated by the Durmstrang Champion.

"I...did not think that you ver...able to do this tournament. I stand corrected." Piotr managed to utter.

This time his surprise turned into an actual smile, "That means alot. Again thanks. You feeling ok?" nodding at his numerous injuries.

Addie hurried out of the stands, squeezing through the mass of students as quickly as possible. She wasn't sure if she was actually allowed in the medical tent, but that's where she was heading. Addie hurried through the flap of the tent, pausing to glance around.

A giant grin lit her features as she spotted Tristan. "You were brilliant! I knew you could do it!" She smiled apologetically at the headmistress before rushing over to her boyfriend. She rested a hand on his shoulder, hesitant to hug him in case he was hurt. "You okay?"

Mitchell casually listened to Headmistress Belleford as she announced the results. His face remained blank, but Mitch was actually pretty surprised by the outcome. A trace of this passed over his features for a moment, before he maintained his composure. Nodding his head slowly in approval, Mitchell gave a small smile to Sierra.

"Turns out Nightshade wasn't so bad after all. Though I was surprised to hear the 'Strang was in last place." Mitchell shrugged his shoulders, and stood up. He stretched his legs for a moment, before turning his head to the other side, facing Precious and Dave.

"I'll catch up with you later, Precious." he said with a wink, then Mitch nodded out of courtesy to Dave. "McKelvey." he added. Mitchell had figured that being civil to the boyfriend couldn't do much harm, although he wasn't eager at all to get to know Dave. Not in the slightest.

Then, looking at Sierra. "Shall we go and get some dinner then?" he asked her. Mitchell smiled expectantly, and let his eyes wander about the crowd. The First Task hadn't turned out so bad after all.

[OOC// I don't have much time on my hands right now, so if you want to GM Mitch, Sierra in your next post. And yeah, the post isn't the best.]

Professor Aphelion listened on as the scores were read out clapping in kind for each Champion. Yet his applause was most enthsiastic for his own student, Tristan Nightshade, a boy many had written off for his age but who had performed admirably and as well as his competitors. As the Headmistress finished her adjudications and began to speak with the Champions he thought it best to allow the students to go and eat before dark.

"Sonorus." he muttered.

"I hope you all enjoyed that! Please join me in congratulating our three Champions! Now feel free to make your way back up to the castle where dinner will be served early as lunch was missed. I would ask that each of you is back inside the castle before dark as curfew is still in place. The first task is over. Thank you."

He too made his way over to Mr Nightshade where he was being attended to by Ms Lumineux. "Congratulations, Mr Nightshade. A fine performance." His smile was warm and pleasing, his eyes having that twinkle that came from considerable delight.

A huge grin spread across his face as Addie entered the emdical tent and rushed to his side. She didn't want to hurt him and so placed her hand on his shoulder but he was most healed anyway. He threw his arms around her and hugged her tightly, "I'm ok. It was incredible! The most intense thing I've ever done." He began to fill her in on all that had transpired when the Professor entered behind her. He too had an expression of apparent happiness at how he had performed and his tale ceased for the moment.

"Thanks, Professor! You don't think I was silly for throwing away the lead?" He kept his voice low for that particular question, not wanting the Durmstrang Champion to hear him questioning it. Between the time he had rescured Piotr and the time he received his 2nd place scoring, his mind had been racing with the doubts at what he was doing. Mariane had certainly not gone to his aid. And would they have done the same for him? The truthful answer was probably not but that was just the way he was.

He saw as Tristan's eyes flicked to the Durmstrang boy seated to the side as he asked the question, not wanting to offend him, so Nate stepped right up to the pair before answering his question. "Not at all, Mr Nightshade. On the contrary I think it was a very commendable thing to do, something Ms Lumineux here would probably have done being a Gryffindor." He smiled warmly at Addie before returning his attention to Tristan. "There will undoubtedly be people who will question what you did but as the Headmistress said it showed quite a commendable character to think selflessly like that and go to another's aid. You gave away the lead and so the judges felt you should be rewarded for showing such moral fibre. Never doubt yourself in that respect, Tristan."

He knew that the pair would surely ike some alone time to discuss the Task so he took his leave, "I'll leave you two to it. Congratulations again and good luck figuring our your next task from the clues. Don't forget to be back to the castle before dark." He nodded at each of them before turning and exiting the tent, heading for the castle.

"They vill heal," said Piotr, grinning, "I am made of tougher stuff. I do believe that may be the only reason I got as high a score as I--"

"You were brilliant! I knew you could do it!" a comely blond girl said excitedly as she burst through the entrance flap of the medical tent. She hesitantly put her hand on Nightshade's shoulders, asking about his physical condition. Nightshade simply threw his arms around her, answering with words and actions of enthusiasm. Piotr smiled and turned away, thinking of Ella.

He'd looked like such a fool out there, hadn't he? And he was a little saddened that none of his fellow Durmstrang had come to visit him. They were probably ashamed of having him for champion after his poor showing in the first task.

And of Ella...would she care enough to visit him?

The cold crystal that was Piotr's magically frozen ice chilled his thigh from inside the animal skin pouch he carried it and the scrap of hide from the doe in. The bell was still around his neck, quiet.

Perhaps soon he ought to do some research to try and find what signifigance a bell, ice, and a scrap of animal hide might have to each other. He had learned by now that Hogwarts had an extensive library, though he wondered if he might find it difficult to read the more complicated English books.

!Xabbu stood up.

"Well," he said to Kiki, "I think we should go back to the school now. It looks like the aurors are about ready to lock the place up. Nothing will get in...or out...once they do."

He thought for a second.

"You probably want to congratulate your sister," he said, "I'll go and make sure we all have a seat, assuming she might want to sit with us. See soon!" He gave Katriane a quick peck on the cheek and left for the castle.

((OOC: The time will now change. You don't have to leave just yet--as I'm sure the champions and those close to them might have some little interactions to complete, and some spectators may straggle a bit--but be prepared to return to the castle sometime soon. As the crowd began to leave for dinner, Ella found herself making up excuses in her head for not leaving. Her shoe was untied, she didn't want to get shoved around the the crowd of students, there was a lose thread on her cloak that needed to be pulled...all the while, she was glancing over towards the tent, waiting for the champions to emerge. However, when fifteen minutes passed and noone emerged her curiosity took hold and before she realized what she was doing she was standing outside the tent, her mind racing with reasons why she should just go back to the school and wait like everyone else. How did she know she was even allowed to go in? What if she ended up staying out past curfew and got detention? What if...how could...

How did she know that he even wanted to see her?

After a good minute or so (during which Addie rushed hurridly past her, presumably to see Tristan) of deliberating, Ella finally reached up and pushed the flap back and stepped inside the tent.

Once inside, Ella glanced around, her cheeks slightly red when she realized who was all present. Somehow, she managed to forget the fact that it wasn't just the champions, but Heads and even several Ministry officials as well...

In the end, she chose to ignore them and instead made her way over toward where the Tristan and Piotr were sitting. She smiled at Tristan and Addie, not wanting to interupt, before adressing Piotr.

"Just thought I'd come and say Hi and that...you did really great, out there..." she said, attempting to sound nonchallant. However, that was proving a very difficult task-not only was she finding it hard not to grimace at the sight of his injuries (although they looked considerably better than they had when he had come out of the forrest) but she suddenly felt as if every eye in the tent was on her, wondering what on earth she was doing.

"I...you probabally want to rest, don't you? Sorry, I..." she trailed off and began picking once more at her fingernails absently and wondering if she should just leave right then and there.
