Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control?

The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make?

Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go?

Moody surveyed the edge of the forest, a last minute scan with his magical eye. All around him, students and Professors were beginning to gather. Bidelia had not yet arrived. She was probably still meeting with the aurors and law enforcement agents that had been sent to protect the school--make it a prison, more like. Still, they had their uses, and Bidelia was able to pull some strings and get Audrina and Blake as the resident aurors. Still, the presence of Magical Law Enforcement under the rule of martial law made Moody nervous--more nervous than usual. It was a precarious situation, and it would be far too easy for the enemy to place the Imperius Curse upon the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, Barrabas DuMaine--whom Moody had never liked to begin with. It could be that, or worse--Barrabas could be on their side. Always possible. Never rule out even remote possibilities in situations like this. Constant vigilance!

The Prophet, of course, was sure to sugar-coat everything. Never mind the very real probability of some agents abusing their newfound power. Moody understood the reason for martial law, and he knew that there really wasn't much of a choice with the Ministry gone, but a little more honesty from the press would have been nice. Instead, all the wizarding citizens get is a bunch of "our duty" and "for those that have died" nonsense. The sad part was, Moody knew, that most citizens would buy into it--they would desperately want to buy into it, instead of having to face the harsh reality.

All around him, last minute preparations were being made. A large tent was being erected, and their the champions, judges, and press would meet just before the first task would begin. Behind Moody, facing the forest itself, as a large stage where the judges would sit. Bidelia would make a speech, though there wasn't much she could tell the champions or the spectators. The three of them would have to figure it all out once they got in there. Only the centaurs would give them any clues.

Speaking of the devil, Bannishtar, the divination professor and the Head of Gryffindor House, appeared from behind the thick veil of trees that was the Forbidden Forest.

"How goes it, Bannishtar?" Moody growled.

"Everything seems to be going smoothly," said Bannishtar, "I was sent to give word that my people are in their places, and we have hidden the items as requested. I, too, will return to the forest momentarily."

"And they know not to interfere unless they champions are at an immediate risk of losing their lives, correct?" inquired Moody in an imperative tone.

"Or if the champions call for help, yes," answered the centaur.

Bannishtar looked around. So many unfamiliar faces at Hogwarts these days.

"A lot of aurors about..." Banni commented.

"We had to put up a fight to even have the tournament out here," growled Moody, "But despite what Barrabas DuMaine has to say, Professor Belleford still wields most of the power here. Hogwarts has never been directly controlled or influenced by the Ministry, though they've sure tried. Bidelia let them know that they are here at her suffering, and only because she believes these measures to be necessary. However, she will decide where to draw the line. Good on her, I say."

Though he would not admit it, all of these Ministry wizards about made Bannishtar nervous. They made his people nervous as well. Though the centaur had always been in good standing with the witches and wizards of the school, they have never kept the Ministry in high regard, and for good reason.

"I should return," said Bannishtar, "However, I do think it might have been unwise to have me in this position."

"How so?" asked Moody.

"I have taught Mr. Nightshade for for the past two and-a-half years. I think it will be more difficult for me to sit and watch him face such life-threatening danger than it would be for my kin. I am afraid I might be too quick to deem that he was in mortal peril, and intervene."

"You don't think he's capable?"

"Yes and no," said Bannishtar, "He is one of the brightest human beings I could have ever hoped to come across. If I were to be asked to hold up a select few of the students I have taught, and prove that these few are reason enough to hope for a better future for both our races, Mr. Nightshade would be very high on that list. It would be a shame if he were to be cut down in this game of yours."

"Hmph." was Moody's response as the centaur returned to the forest. He didn't like his tone when he had said "this game of yours." It sounded accusing. Derisive comments were not something Moody had thought Bannishtar was capable of, giving his first impressions of this centaur who had for so long called humans his colleagues and even friends. Still, he supposed that even Bannishtar might have reason to dislike many of the things humans do.

Mariane, followed by Madame, approached the forest, standing near place that the spectators were to be.

Mariane eyed the Forest warily. "Madame..." she began, the tiniest flicker of doubt in her eyes.

June came to where the first task was, still hand in hand with Abe. She hadn't said much during the short walk, and just held her head low while following all the others. In the corner of her eye, she saw Mad-eye Moody, the auror. She found him frightening, and the eye just freaked her out. I mean, what could he see with it? Wasn't he able to look through walls and... It just made her uncomfortable.

She turned towards Abe, "Where should we sit?"

Meriadoc Grimstad

Durmstrang Student

Meriadoc walked to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, wearing a large fur cloak, though it was considerably warm outside. It was November, and though Winter was nearing, Meriadoc believed that it was much warmer than at this time than it always was at Durmstrang Institute. He was wearing maroon colored robes beneath his cloak, his wand stowed safely inside his robe pocket. Meriadoc had scarcely come out in the open since arriving at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; he spent most of his time in the ship, reading. He would, of course, be supporting Durmstrang and Piotr Rasputin.

Glancing around, Meriadoc could not help but wonder where the Champion was. His eyes drifted over to a gruff-looking man. He looked quite normal from the side, but when he turned, he saw that he was sporting a giant, electric blue eye. It was whirling around in its socket, staring at everything around it. Near him was a girl, accompanied by the headmistress for Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. The girl looked very charming, and Meriadoc had to try very hard not to become entranced by her mystic pull. She must have some Veela in her, Meriadoc thought, It vos quite obvious. No girl vould be that beautiful vithout having some sort ov Veela in her blood.

Meriadoc's eyes wandered the field, observing the forest carefully. "I am quite sure that Piotr vill do fine," he told himself. It was quite odd, Meriadoc thought, hearing his gruff voice after spending so much time in the ship, reading quietly to himself. "After all, he vos chosen over myself." Meriadoc had put his name in the Goblet of Fire in the dead of night, while most were asleep. However, he had not been chosen as Durmstrang Champion, though he had had high hopes. Wondering what the First Task would include, as they had not been told in any way what it could contain, Meriadoc walked across the edge of the forest before retreating slowly, standing on his own.

Meanwhile, several more people filled in the spots around him, including a few more Durmstrang students. "Good morning, Demitrov," Meriadoc said as a tall boy, though shorter than Meriadoc himself, and dressed similar to him, took place next to him.

"Vy, good morning, Grimstad. Or vould you prefer if I called you Meriadoc?" he replied, grinning. Meriadoc looked at the boy, who stood to his chin, and shrugged.

"It does not matter, Demitrov," he remarked, his eyes still scanning the area. "You may use vatever name you see fit for speaking to me. You vill, ov course, Demitrov, be supporting Piotr Rasputin and Durmstrang Institute?"

"Vell," replied Demitrov, reaching inside his robe pocket. "I found that it vould put a good impression upon Durmstrang if I showed signs of supporting the other schools. International Magical Cooperation, you know." He winced as Meriadoc looked at him. "Ov course, I vill have my heart set in rooting for Piotr."

Meriadoc nodded solemnly, and turned his head toward the edge of the forest, as more and more people began to file in.

Ella stayed sitting near the lake for quite some time, completly absorbed in her thoughts and her emotions and therefore barely even registering what the people around her were doing. However as the majority of the students and professors finished breakfast and began to make their way towards the forest she was reminded of the first task, something she had completly forgotten about since her encounter with Precious. She briefly considered not going, and instead returning to her dormatory to continue to stew in her bad mood and complain to herself but decided against it and joined the crowd of people heading towards the forest.
When she arrived, Ella didn't spot many that she recognized, other than two Hufflepuffs in her year. Having no desire to strike up a conversation with someone she didn't know, Ella stood amidst the crowd, wondering faintly where the other two champions were...

Madame Leclair glanced at Mariane and patted her shoulder comfortingly. She, too, was uneasy about the forest; after all, there had to be a reason that it was forbidden. But she didn't want Mariane to think that her mentor was afraid. That would only make it more difficult for her to complete the task. So she put on a stupidly cheerful grin in the hopes that it might heighten her student's spirits.

"It can't be too bad, Mariane. After all, this tournament isn't nearly so barbaric as it was a few centuries ago. Why, I don't think they even sent anyone out to look for bodies back then!" she pronounced, feeling that her encouragement was well-worded. She slapped Mariane on the back and stared into the forest jovially, trying not to think about werewolves and other dangerous creatures.

Mariane jumped as Madame slapped her on the back. She folded her arms, wand in it's strap around her tiny middle as she looked up at the imposing forest.

"Where arre ze? Eet is already behind schedule and I am anxious to begin." she stated petulantly.

Abe glanced around the forest, "Uh, anywhere is fine." He said to June, his eyes landing on Mariane. He felt as light as the sky when he looked at her, her skin shined brightly in the dim lighting of the forest, it was as if she was the sun warming everything her beams touched. Forgetting for a minute that he was holding hands with June, his grasp lightened a bit until he was pulled out of his trance. The starry-eyed boy, smiled crazily at Mariane, who he would most definitely be supporting.

Tristan who?

"Let's just wait for more people..." Abe said in a lofty voice, his mind still a bit foggy. Abe didn't want to be the first to sit down to watch the tournament, he didn't want people to think he was that into the competition. He'd rather people think he was just going out of boredom, or because of a girl.

Cash, dressed in dark jeans and a gray thermal shirt, entered the forest where the first task was being held. Although he was slightly bitter about not being chosen Durmstrang champion, Cash had dutifully made his way through the wood to where crowds had started forming, to cheer for Piotr. Noticing some of his fellow Durmstrang students, Cash pushed his way through the group of people and emerged next to Meriadoc Grimstad, whom he nodded to.

"Hello," He greeted in a gruff voice, staring at the Hogwarts students with a rather condescending glare. This children thought that their Champion, a mere fifth year, was going to be victorious over the Durmstrang's? Cash laughed to himself. He found it very amusing that all of their hopes lied in a boy who not only dressed like a giant banana, but was far less magically educated than his competitors.

"This, boy that is to represent Hogvart's, to vut do you make of him?" Cash grumbled to Meriadoc, his eyes lingering for a moment on the Beauxbatons champion. She looked hardly the type to engage in activities that might be dangerous, or dirty. A doll and a prepubescent boy - those were Piotr's rivals? Ha. Cash had full faith the Durmstrang battling against them, but even Cash couldn't resist thinking miserably to himself, that he could defeat these students, in his sleep.

Maverick Long and Sawyer West strode to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, arm in arm. One would guess, not knowing the previous agreement between Maverick and Sawyer, that they were attending the event as a pair. However, that one would be mistaken. Maverick was merely escorting Sawyer to the First Task, or that was what he believed. The two walked over to the growing crowd and stood, surveying the different students and adults. The headmistress of Beauxbatons was standing nearby with her Champion, Mariane Quicompoix, and Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody stood at the entrance to the forest awaiting the two other Champions.

"Where is that git, Nightshade, do you suppose?" Maverick asked Sawyer conversationally. "If he's later than that thick Durmstrang student, I daresay he will give a horrible impression upon Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And then there's this Beauxbatons girl. How on Earth was she chosen? All looks and no brains, is she not?" He smirked and looked at Sawyer, then turned his attention to the forest. The Task would no doubt be starting soon.

"Late or not, he's still a horrible representative of Hogwarts." Sawyer snorted, kicking dead leaves up from the forest floor with the toe of her boot. The air smelt fresher out in the woods, it reminded Sawyer of her brief spell in them. Not these woods of course, but the ones near her old home. She had never really appreciated the beauty of the trees when she was there, but now she could. Perhaps it was because her first experience was frightful, terrifying even. Now, under different circumstances, Sawyer was able to stand in awe at the beauty of the wilderness.

"Ugh, don't even get me started on the French." Sawyer growled, looking away from the Beauxbatons champion pointedly. "So, it'll be the Durmstrang to take the victory. Don't you agree?" Sawyer asked nonchalantly, returning Maverick's smirk.

Madame Leclair shrugged. "Je ne sais pas. I suppose in England zey are less ponctuel, even at ze most eemportant event this school will ever see." She shifted from foot to foot, beginning to feel the tall heels cutting into her feet. Marvelous though magic was, still no one had figured out a way to create sexy, tall shoes without them being a health hazard.

"Sadly, yes, I believe it will be Durmstrang who takes the victory. I would have liked to see Hogwarts win, of course, but with the sot the goblet has chosen as Champion, I fear that that wish would never be realized," Maverick replied, grinning. "It does not matter much, though, seeing as it will be interesting enough to see the girl and Nightshade fail miserably." Maverick and Sawyer stood at the edge of the forest, peering in, still awaiting Piotr and Nightshade. Where the hell are those two idiots? He was waiting for the Task to start. They had waited far too long.

Feeling that Abe's hand started to slip out of hers, and his eyes set on Mariane Quicompoix, June suddenly felt a hatred for the girl. With a tug of the hand to remind Abe of her presence, June wished that Mariane was to be disfigured so badly by vile, malicious creatures, turning into something so ugly, so disgusting that noone would ever want to set their eyes on her twice. She pouted, and was certain who she was not going to root for, no stupid, blonde bimbo was going to ruin her.... Whatever it was, the most important thing was that it was with Abe, but June didn't think it was just a friends-thing.

But it wasn't a... Date. The very word scared June, made her think of her sisters nitpicking someones every fault, she was certain that they'd love whispering of whoever she fell for, especially if the person liked her back. June, how did you do it? Have you been brewing love potions...? No, you're too stupid to do that, you must have bought one. Where did you get it June, we want some as well... She felt bad for thinking like that about her sisters, but if she was to be honest with herself, she wouldn't put it past them to do it. Actually, it seemed pretty likely.

With a sweet smile, she wondered how she should get his attention, again. When he spoke, she was momentarily satisfied, even though his voice was a little to distant for her liking. Just leave me and run down, then. Prove to me that what I said earlier is true, I know it is anyways, She bit her lip, realising that she was looking up at him with sad, blue puppy eyes, and quickly made sure she looked away. "Yes, sure," she tried to figure out something to talk about, except the boring, obvious subject of the first task, but not completely farfetched, "So..." June frowned, she'd probably figure out the perfect subject in a couple hours, but that would be too late, "How would you react if you became the champion? I've already said how I'd react," she put on a happy, cheerful mask.
