| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. Elle had somehow found her way up to the fifth floor corridor, after leaving the Great Hall and wandering around the castle for some time. She sighed deeply and stopped in the middle of the hall, inspecting the ends of her coppery-red curls. She dropped her hands to her sides and looked around before throwing her arms out and spinning around a few times. She felt like she had shut down for a while. She was nowhere with no one but herself and that certainly was not entertaining. In her dark skinny jeans, black knee high boots, gray and white striped sweater and Raveclaw blue scarf she knew she looked as cute as always. So why was there no one to talk to? She walked a few steps up the hall and looked at the portraits, silently asking them what to do with herself. With a frustrated and rather audible sigh, she sank to the floor on her knees and hung her head, her palms splayed on either side of her. Her hair touched the floor and her back ached as she stretched it forward, pushing herself just to know she was alive. She pulled herself back and sat against the wall, one knee up to her chest, her other leg out in front of her. She leaned her head back and shut her eyes, trying so hard to think of anything other than the horrid emptiness that flooded her mind. It seemed like recently the only thing that made her happy was talking to people. Mostly flirting with boys, but just talking in general took the edge off of the emptiness that made her very bones hurt. |

Grant had been searching for Emma since the run-in with the Slytherins in the Courtyard. He knew she needed a friend and he knew he should have followed her faster than he had. Kayden had consumed him. She had knocked the breath right out of him, and with the wind went his sense of morals. He wasn't sure why she had that effect on him, she just did. Sighing, Grant had given up looking for his best friend and entered the fifth floor corridor after taking a passageway through a tapestry on his way up to Ravenclaw Tower. His head was up in the clouds, engulfed with pictures of Kayden but plagued with images of Emma and the pain on her face when Kayden and Sawyer had cornered her. Grant couldn't really put the blame on Kayden though, she merely had just observed from the sidelines, as he had. But Grant had never lacked backbone before. So why did it suddenly dissolve when he was around Kayden? She had crushed his heart when she had run around behind his back with Abe Halifax, and then they simply stopped talking. Why was he so eager to persue a relationship with her (again) when the first one didn't end well? Grant had been walking along the windows, his eyes unfocused as he looked out onto the grounds. If he hadn't sidestepped the obstruction, Grant surely would have fell. Snapping out of his stupor, Grant glanced at the floor. Elle Kenndie say, with her eyes closed. Oblivious of their near-collision. "Elle!" He said in surprise, sounding a bit like a dog who had it's tail stepped on. Collecting himself in an instant, Grant attempted a smile. "How, how are you?" He asked tentively, his mind flashing the image of the two of them surrounded by silver counters in an incriminating position. |

She had heard Grant's footsteps, but hadn't bothered to open her eyes. She had not a care in the world who was coming, what they wanted, if they would talk to her. It didn't matter. But then a voice had penetrated her deep silence, shook her out of her deep reverie. She opened her eyes, stunned to see Grant standing above her. She raised her eyebrows a little bit, not bothering to mask her surprise, but she closed her eyes again, remembering their...ahem, encounter. "Fine. And yourself?" Do you really care how he's been, Elle? Do you? Because I don't think you do. What is he to you now? Another mindless hookup with friend potential, but that's it. Just potential. Don't get carried away by those amazing eyes or the way he felt that one time. He's a stranger. Keep it that way. She opened her eyes again, her gaze almost blank as she looked up at him from her slumped place on the ground. Slowly she stood up, always feeling better when she was upright. She knew she was more intimidating that way. |

Grant licked his bottom lip slightly, his eyes darting around the empty corridor. Looking for anything to take his eyes off Elle, anything at all. "I'm.." Grant stopped. He wasn't sure how he was feeling actually. All he knew was that he couldn't run to Emma with his problems, she was going through enough as it was. And she was probably pissed at him, the last look she had given him before she ran off was one of pure loathing. He knew he'd be lying if he said 'fine'. 'Fine' was probably the last thing he felt: the last thing on a very long list. He was confused, and distraught. He was in love, and out of sync. He was estatic, yet miserable and furious. Grant was at a lost for words, but bursting to clear his head. Grant's shoulders slumped, "I'm a bit of a mess, actually." He said, hitching on a crooked smile. He wasn't begging for a hand to hold, a shoulder to lean on or someone to confide in. Begging wasn't gentlemen-like, was it? |

Elle faced him for a moment, looking him over with her cool crystal eyes. She turned from him and put one foot directly in front of the other, her right heel to her left toe. She put her arms out for balance and took a few more steps like this, focusing on walking in a perfectly straight line and keeping her back in a perfect dancer's posture. "Well, why don't you tell me about it? I'm a very good listener." She was a damn good liar. She didn't want to hear about it, at least she tried to tell herself that. But her voice was convincing, very convincing. She sounded so sincere, so concerned. Part of her was concerned, but she wouldn't admit that to herself just yet. For now she would be content to just listen to him and decide how much she cared later. She turned back to him, now a few feet away. She paused before walking back, standing close and looking up at him before sitting back down. She motioned for him to do the same. She never did like to sit while other people stood. It made her awfully nervous. |

Grant pursed his lips. He wouldn't know where to begin, truth be told. Sitting next to Elle, with his back against the wall, Grant was stone silent for a few minutes. His head as running marathons - the last thing he wanted was a trip down memory lane. "Nah, just boring stuff." Grant brushed it off, sounding modest. A faint jolt in his stomach was comforting. Maybe he didn't need to talk. Maybe he just needed someone to listen. If that made any sense. "So, sorry I haven't talked to you since Halloween, I've been really busy." Grant told her, looking down at his hands. He had been busy. Busy with Kayden. Just the thought of her made his heart flutter. But she wasn't the only girl able to leave him with weak knees. Elle brought on that feeling just as strong. So maybe he wasn't in love. Maybe this was just how fifteen year old boys felt about girls. Extremely pretty girls. Extremely pretty girls that seemed to surround him at all times... ooc: uh, idk if you know but it's like november 22 RP time. |

ooc: Ah! I did not know this. Thank you for updating me. =/ She nodded, not completely believing him. "Boring things" never really meant boring things. She would know. She had much experience in the boring things department. She stayed quiet, though. If he really needed to talk he would. "It's okay. I've been busy, too." She couldn't really think of anything else to say to him. She hadn't had much to say to anyone as of late, remaining rather distant. She was back at Hogwarts with absolutely no real friends, no boyfriend, no one even interested in being her boyfriend. What did she have to talk about with anyone? Nothing. She twirled her fingers in her hair and glanced over at him, still at a loss. No words came to mind. She tried a few out, but they didn't seem right. So she settled for silence. |

Grant nodded solemnly, "Yeah, I figured..." He mumbled, staring into the palm of his hands with a crumpled expression. "So...uhm are you okay?" He asked, not looking up from his hands. Grant knew something was going on with Elle, he wasn't stupid. He wasn't oblivious either. She had been energetic, even spunky the night they had met. And now she seemed as glum as Moaning Myrtle. "You just don't seem to be...yourself today." He cleared, his voice feebly trailing off into silence. |

Something clicked on in her mind. This could be just what she needed. A little pull back into reality. She'd been moping around the castle since her arrival on Halloween and she was downright sick of it. Maybe all she needed was just for someone to talk to her a little bit. She pulled her knees up close to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. She turned to Grant, resting her cheek on her knee and regarding him with a small smile. Her long red hair tumbled over her shoulder and in that moment she looked so small, so vulnerable, but almost pleased with this. "Yeah. I'm okay. It's just been kinda hard adjusting, I suppose. I've been a bit distant since we last spoke. But you, my friend. Are you sure you're okay? You don't seem to be." Sometimes she wished she wasn't so perceptive. It seemed like life would be so much easier if you were unaware of others' troubles. It would be easier to not care, at least. And most of the time she tried not to care. She struggled every day to be completely neutral to her peers, but it was getting harder, especially since she was longing for a few friends. She pushed these thoughts away, realising they would just drag her back down into the abyss she'd stumbled into. She poked Grant playfully in the arm, cautiously smiling a little more. "Girl trouble? I could probably give you some really good advice, if that's the case. Seeing as I am, you know...a girl." Please don't say yes. Please don't say yes. Please don't say yes... |

Despite his glum mood, Grant smiled a bit as Elle poked him. "Girl trouble?" He repeated, almost laughing. "Elle, name one girl who isn't trouble." He teased playfully, yet his eye remained glued to his hands. Girls were trouble. Girls were lots of trouble. "Oh, sorry. Are you a girl? I wasn't aware of this fact," He said sarcastically, tearing his eyes away from his hands which rested in his lap and looked at Elle full in the face for the first time since Halloween. It was difficult for Grant to know if she was being sincere. She sounded like she cared, but Grant had an uncomfortable feeling about it. Perhaps it was the way Ella made him feel? She made him feel like...well, a way he shouldn't feel because he had a girlfriend. A girlfriend who had cheated on him once before... "You'll adjust fine, don't worry. I thought I wouldn't fit in after I came, but I did. You'll be fine, plus, you're much more prettier than I am, you have an advantage." Grant assured her. He certainly had fit in perfectly on his first day. He remembered meeting Kayden that day, and Emma. And then getting...even more aquainted with Kayden that very evening. |

She laughed out loud, stunned to know that it still sounded so bubbly and cheerful. She hadn't heard her own laugh for quite some time. She rolled her eyes at him, loving every minute of their teasing. It was hard to admit, but she had missed this. "Come on, now. I'm sure you fit in just marvellously. You're very...pretty. You know, in a manly kind of way. Let's be honest, you're hot. I think you got on just fine. Anyway, you still haven't answered my question. Are you alright?" She looked him over, not in a flirtatious way. Sort of more like a checking up kind of way, making sure that everything was still in order, left just as it had been since the last time she'd seen him. But there was something just a little different. She didn't know yet what it was, but something seemed off since Halloween. Maybe she was just nervous that he hadn't given her any sort of physical affection yet. Most guys had jumped straight to it with her. She was almost glad he wasn't like that, but at the same time it irked her a little. She liked the attention. |

Grant rolled his eyes at Elle and settled himself against the wall. It wasn't the most comfortable, sitting on a stone floor, leaning against a stone wall - but at least they were alone. And loneliness was better shared with a friend. "I'll be okay," Grant said in a brisk tone, braving a strong smile he hoped was convincing. He had left of the 'eventually' comment. There was no use in worrying her. Besides, he wondered how she'd take it if he did end up spilling his feelings out all over the fifth floor. Did she even know about Kayden? Had she seen them together? Was that why she maintained a safe distance and avoided him like the plague since Halloween? That was why Grant had avoided her. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and he was pretty sure Elle Kennedie was no exception. "So, you think I'm hot huh?" He asked, looking very please yet trying to seem modest. |

She remained unconvinced, but she was in no mood to push the subject. Did she think he was hot? She contemplated her answer for a very long time. She had seen him with Kayden, at least that's what she thought the girl's name was. She couldn't be sure. She assumed they were together, but you know what they say about assuming... "Yeah. I think you're hot. But I bet your girlfriend thinks so, too, right?" She smiled playfully, but it was half-hearted. Part of her wished he would say "Girlfriend? What girlfriend?" But another part of her wished he would confirm it so she could get on with her flirting and dating other boys. She was utterly confused, but none of that would show on her face. She was far too practiced to betray emotion when she didn't want to. |

Grant grimaced slightly. "I guess she thinks so too. But I don't know. We don't really talk about looks and stuff like that." He admitted sheepishly. It was true. They talked of their feelings, and of their pasts, their future plans, their beliefs, morals, ideals and troubles. The relationship had few flaws - but that didn't mean it was perfect. Kayden had an unwelcomed habit of popping up everywhere Grant was. In fact, he was surprised she hadn't came walking down the corridor already. "I mean, nevermind you don't wanna hear it. Relationships aren't all they're knocked up to be, are they." Grant said in a low voice, a frown set on his face. "Like, all kinds of relationships. Friendship, girlfriends - nothing is easy and nothing is how you member. Or how you expect it to be." Grant was rambling now. It was uncertain whether he was speaking of Kayden or Emma, or even Elle and Cosette. Nothing was easy. Live wasn't easy. He knew that, so why was it so hard for him to accept? |

That was more along the lines of what she had been expecting to hear from him. Troubles. She was vaguely disappointed that he was taken. But at the same time, she figured it was probably better that way. She would leave him if she had him. She was just like that. Still, she felt the biter taste of jealousy rise up like bile in her throat. She swallowed hard before looking over at him, a half-smile half-grimace plastered roughly on her face. "Well, I can't say I'm a big fan of relationships for just that reason. They're always so complex. I just want to be with someone who can deal with me no matter what mood I'm in. Someone who is just going to...be. With me. I don't have the capacity to deal with other peoples' emotional baggage. I have to be free to work, you know?" She was looking down at her knees, her gaze straying away from him halfway through her monologue. She felt bad, spilling out those feeling like that, but he had done it, too. She looked back at him, still smiling a little and mumbling a quiet "Sorry". |

Grant nodded slowly. "Don't be sorry. If that's what you feel than that's what you feel. I understand what your saying. But I don't know, I don't like being alone. I feel like I always need somebody to smile at. Somebody to compliment. Somebody to comfort, to flirt with." Grant huffed, the corner of his mouth twitching upward feebly. "I don't need to have someone need me, don't get me wrong I like the feeling, but I'd much rather be the one comforting than getting comfort." That was why Grant had so many problems with words. He didn't like to speak of his feelings, he was a listener. And when it came his turn to talk, he didn't know what to say -- how to begin. Grant was a gentlemen. He cared for his ladies, they didn't care for him. Sure, everyone needed somebody at sometime, but Grant was too proud to admit when he needed someone. It was a terrible flaw but a flaw he couldn't get rid of nonetheless. And they say chivalry was dead... |

"I'm sort of the opposite. I have to be needed. If I'm not...well, I just leave. Sometimes without explanation." Her voice held a trace of guilt, almost imperceptible. She had been a heartbreaker for most of her life. Never before had she felt guilty about it, but now, she felt a sort of twinge in her heart. She brushed it off, knowing she had no reason to feel bad. There was nothing wrong with being flighty and restless, as she was. "Sometimes I feel like a bird in a cage, and I don't care what anyone says: caged birds don't sing." She shook her head and frowned slightly before looking over at him, forcing a smile. How could she not smile sitting next to a gorgeous, considerate and sensitive boy, who, as far as she could tell, liked her? "Anyway, enough about that. Tell me more about...you." |

Grant smiled, though the light of it didn't reach his eyes, which still looked somber. "More about me? I'm terribly boring. And I have probably the worst luck in the world..." Grant laughed, thinking how crazily true his statement really was. Anything that could go wrong, seemed to. He had had a wonderful night with the girl next to him on Halloween, and then that very night his ex-girlfriend showed up and professed her love to him. He couldn't have his cake and eat it too. He could never had an easy decision. But maybe that was life, and Grant was being too cynical. But it made him feel better blaming it on the fact he had the worst luck in the world then to admit that it wasn't luck, it was life and sometimes you just have to deal. "So, if you haven't heard already...Emma Gray and her boyfriend recently split. Although...I'm not sure they verbally broke things off actually." Grant said, bemused. It was strange how when Emma had a boyfriend, Grant had been single and pining. And now that she was 'on the market', it was Grant who was tied down. Strange how things worked out. And once again, another reminder that Grant had the worst luck in the world. |

Elle laughed softly, shaking her head. Boring. Right. At the moment he was the farthest thing from boring, at least for her. She sighed quietly, his idle chatter crifting in one ear and out the other. She didn't care about this Emma girl. She hadn't the slightest idea who she was. "She's in my house right? I don't actually know her." What a noncommital answer. She pulled her knees in tighter, tighter, as tight as she could, the sting of her constricted lungs snapping her back to the present she had almost drifted away from. She stretched her legs out in front of her and took a deep breath, arching her back a little as she did. She felt like there was really nothing else for her to say. But, then again, that's how she felt most of the time these days. So she just slouched down against the wall, practically laying on the cold stone floor. |

Grant shrugged his shoulders, "Oh." He replied simply in monotone voice. Most girls Grant knew would be keen to hear about the particularly nasty break-up, but Elle wasn't most girls. But something tugged at Grant's conscious, hard. He shouldn't be talking about Emma and her personal problems - he should be consoling her, and defending her against everyone who did talk about her and her personal relationships. What was going on with Grant. It was like Kayden had made not only his insides turn to goo, but his brain as well. He barely reconginized himself... Which was why he barely recongnized Elle. She seemed so glum, so uninterested in life. Grant thought perhaps maybe it was him - that he was the reason she was looking so bored. Perhaps she didn't want to talk to him, didn't want him around. Grant didn't blame her actually, with all his problems, he was surprised that he still had friends, and a girlfriend. A girlfriend who had disappeared again... "If I'm bothering you, I'm sure there's somewhere else I could go sulk..." Grant suggest half-heartedly, with a crooked yet unconvincing smile. He didn't want her to say that he was bothering her, but he would rather have the truth. Well no, the truth her. He'd rather she lie. She was good a lying, or so she claimed. But when if she lied about not wanting him to go - was he supposed to interpret that at a lie? - Why was he thinking so much. Did everyone overanalyze situations like this? Situations that weren't even as complex as the thoughts twirling in his head? "I've changed my mind. Don't answer that." Grant said seriously as an afterthought, trying to turn off his mind. It was starting to give him a headache, all this thinking. Instead Grant cleared his brain, closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall, breathing deeply. |
