| Read Today's Daily Prophet: Knights of Walpurgis attack Hogwarts; Belleford steps down as Hogwarts closes until further notice |
| Welcome to Hogwarts Interactive Role Play, one of the net's best in Harry Potter and Hogwarts role plays. We hope you enjoy your visit. Here at Hogwarts our students are currently in their Seventh Year. Last year, the war against the Knights crescendoed into a direct attack against the school. Disappearances are still reported (or not) daily, and the Dark Lord and his Knights of Walpurgis have succeeded in spreading their message of "do as thou will" far and wide across the globe. Magical Law Enforcement, which is now the only authority in the wizarding world under Martial Law, has responded by tightening security, controlling the media, and strictly enforcing curfews and other laws. Their control is damaging to the people's freedom, and their hierarchy is a suspicious lot. It is clear that some members of the MLE like their new found power a bit too much, others see it necessary, but all are in serious danger of being consumed by it. But with the picture of just what Azariah Amaranth is after becoming ever clearer, and a third player in the form of a group called SAVIOR entering the scene, what will the MLE do next to ensure that they've got the situation under control? The Elementium, the Higher Plane that had once been hidden just beyond the veil in the Department of Mysteries, and the Deathly Hallows. The pieces of the puzzle have been identified, but what picture do they make? Today is Day 1 of Year Seven. Students have had time to recover from the Knight's attack, and are beginning to reluctantly return to the walls of Hogwarts. The safety of the school has been diminished, bringing up the question everyone must ask. Are you safe anywhere these days? It's up to each individual to decide their fate, where will you decide to go? You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. "Come, come! Sit, sit!" crowed the woman Piotr had been informed was a member of the press for some news organization or some such thing. The Durmstrang complied, sitting beside the pink-and-blue dreadlocked journalist. There was a quill sitting curiously upright, point down on a piece of parchment beside her. Immediately she began talking: "So you must the Durmstrang Champion. Piotr from Durmstrang!" She spoke rapidly, before Piotr could even greet her in reply, "My readers are most interested in you, you know. They've sent me their burning questions--like this one from a Mr. Horace Crittendon--he writes, 'Have you ever come across the Terrible Bloodsuckling Toothpluckling Stonechuckling Spittler in your native land of Russia?' The only one ever slain was by Eustace Higgenbotham, and he died later from the stress." Piotr was, to say the least, nonplussed. "I am not sure vat..." Piotr's mumbled, vexed response was cut off as the woman enthusiastically began spouting off a list of strange words that could have been Greek for all that Piotr understood them. "Since Russia has the highest number of uncommon beasts living in their forests, my readers go on to ask about the Whangdoodles, Hornswogglers, Snozzwanglers, Grunchers and Minpins! Have you seen any of these creatures where you hail?" Piotr, now looking profoundly bewildered, looked over at the Doctor. Doctor Ootenbucker merely smiled and nodded for him to go on, though the smile did not extend to his eyes, which seemed to regard the reporter with incredulity and contempt. Piotr himself would not have gone that far, but still he was vexed as to the nature of this woman, and worse he had no idea what it was she was asking. Were these English words he did not know? Piotr had, in fact, only a rudimentary grasp of conversational English, and because of that, he now felt rather stupid. He was certain he was simply unable to understand her questions. "Um...pardon?" he asked as politely as possible through his self-consciousness, looking both confused and ashamed, feeling like the village idiot. His cheeks were red as beets. |

"Ah! Well, it's not a problem at all if you haven't heard of them yet! They're extremely rare! And you're young, yet! Natie--remember back when we were about....sixth or seventh years? The Triwizard Tournament? That was the year I dyed my hair bright neon green in support of Grindylows--well anyway, long story short, the Durmstrang Champion--I can't remember his name, what was it, Nate? Kraeplin? I can't really recall, must have Flizzit's messing around in my brain--" With each turn of her head, toward Professor Aphelion, Angelma whipped her dreads, nearly knocking Piotr across the face a couple times. "--anyway he told me that he'd seen a Spittler, which of course led to a very interesting conversation about fantastic, unknown beasts and ended up with his hand up my jumper his Russian-accented tongue down my throat, but you know how it is, don't you Piotr?" she crowed, clapping him on the back heartily, her laugh boisterous, her eyes full of mirth. "Now, I do have another question for the Quibbler."How do you plan to combat whatever beasts you may encounter during this tournament?" |

That was the year I dyed my hair bright neon green in support of Grindylows--well anyway, long story short, the Durmstrang Champion--I can't remember his name, what was it, Nate? Kraeplin? I can't really recall, must have Flizzit's messing around in my brain--" The journalist's head whipped over in the Hogwarts Deputy Head's direction and Piotr had to move quickly to avoid being hit by her dreadlocks as they whipped around with her head. "--anyway" she turned back to Piotr, and Piotr had to quickly dodge the oncoming dreadlocks, "he told me that he'd seen a Spittler, which of course led to a very interesting conversation about fantastic, unknown beasts and ended up with his hand up my jumper his Russian-accented tongue down my throat, but you know how it is, don't you Piotr?" When she clapped him on the back with a hearty laugh, Piotr, despite his size and generally strong constitution, could not stop himself from jumping a bit. It startled him. Touching was yet another thing that you did not do with strangers in Russia. Especially with any kind of force. "Now, I do have another question for the Quibbler."How do you plan to combat whatever beasts you may encounter during this tournament?" Piotr, who had chosen to hide his self-conscious vexation with a mask of good old Russian stalwart rigidity, finally felt as though she was starting to make sense to him. Here was a question he could answer. "Vell," he said, "It depends on the creature. The stunning spell is the...how do you say...one of the most used of spells for an experienced vizard. However, many dangerous creatures have protection against the stunners." Piotr wanted to say that he did not wish to hurt the creatures too much, that they could not be blamed for doing what is in their nature, but he knew that Dr. Ootenbucker would not approve. He did not train his students to have soft hearts, and part of Piotr was aware that being too soft on a creature that was trying to kill you could end badly for you, despite your intentions. "Suffice it to say that I vill do vat is necessary, and more than knowledge of spells, it is important that you can...how do you say...think quickly?" |

Angelma nodded, her quill scritching and scratching across the parchment. "Fantastical! I also note that you've acquired a number of Snozzcumbers on you as well, but they're all pink!" Angelma said, wiggling her eyebrows conspiratorily. "Pink Snozzcumbers mean that you fancy someone! I'll bet she's a Hogwarts girl!" she practically shouted. "But I won't ask who it is! That's that nosy old bat Skeeter's department. Poor old girl, she's still in St. Mungo's after the showdown that occured at the Ministry." Angelma shot Charlie a pointed look before patting Piotr lightly. "Off you go then! Off to Uncle Charlie!" she said with a grin. "And good luck in the tournament!" Angie boomed, pullinig the canteen off her waist to take a swig of barley water. It helped ward off the Nargles. |

"So...Mr. Nightshade, you're the youngest champion for any of the three schools in at least three centuries. How must you be feeling now?" quizzed Charlie Johnson. Tristan felt that this man definitely had more of a 'legitimate journalist' sort of feel to him and so was much more comfortable answering his questions, particularly after he overheard some of the questions being asked by Angelma Balulus. "Honestly? Really nervous but really excited! It's a huge honour to be selected at such a young age so I'm keen to do Hogwarts and Britain proud. Now if I can jsut keep my breakfast down." He handed over his wand to Ollivander, flinching slightly as his unknown hands took a hold of something that nobody else had ever touched. A wizard's wand was a very personal item and it felt strange not to have control of it, like an important part of him was missing. "Ah, definitely a Murdoch wand, am I correct? The only wandmaker in the world to use eucalyptus. Then again he's the only wandmaker to have such an abundant supply, isn't he?" Tristan didn't have an answer to that so remained silent. He liked his wand and had always thought it special. "12 inches long. Very springy. A dueler's wand I'm sure. Dragon heartstring for the core. Yes, this wand will do fine." A flick of his wrist saw a fountain of water pour from the tip before it was handed back to him. "Well that's that. All three wands in working order and the Weighing of the Wands complete. |

"Hm..." Charlie hurriedly scribbled some notes and quotations on his parchment pad, "And what do you think of your fellow champions. You will be competing with them, and to be perfectly honest, the odds aren't in your favor when you're opponents are a practically fully trained witch and wizard. We've gotten some letters, you know, and I'm sure Bidelia has, too, concerning some people's concern and outrage over a fifth year being chosen. The worst of which are calling for the Headmistress' immediate resignation. What would you have to say to these people?" |

Tristan remain silent for a moment, thinking over the question. He certainly didn't feel his being chosen warranted the Headmistress resignation, most of all because she had nothing to do with his name coming out of the Goblet of Fire. "Well I certainly don't agree with that. Professor Belleford had nothing to do with my selection. I may be young but I am definitely not the first 15 year old to be chosen for the Tournament. I went looking through names of old participants and there have been others my age so I'm confident I can hold my own against my opponents." His eyes flicked across to where Piotr and Mariane stood waiting for the tournament to get under way. They definitely looked older than he, particularly dressed as they were. "I won't deny they likely know more than I do but what I lack in experience I make up for with nerve and determination. Being Quidditch captain for several years helps develop those qualities and I'm sure they'll help me through." He had rambled a bit but was reasonably happy with his response. |

Charlie smiled, despite is weariness, "You're a very confident young man, Mr. Nightshade," said Charlie, "Perhaps we can have a more in-depth interview in the future. However, I have your fellow champions to interview and limited space in this article. That, and I believe Ms. Baiulus," Charlie gave Angelma a pointed look, "...the editor of the Quibbler will have her own set of questions for you. Good day, Mr. Nightshade. And good luck." Charlie walked over next to the young woman that was the champion for Beauxbatons. She was a rather alluring young woman, and Charlie found himself oddly drawn to her first, even though the large Russian young man representing Durmstrang was nearer to the reporter. As if she'd somehow be more interesting to interview than the Durmstrang. "Good morning, Miss--do I have this right? Miss Quicompoix?" asked Charlie, pronouncing it key-com-poy, "Do you mind sitting a short interview for the Daily Prophet?" |

Mariane gave her high-voltage smile, and took his hand in hers, giving it a small squeeze. "Mariane Key-comb-pwahhh..." she purred. Although she was correcting him, she did it in a subtle way--perhaps he wouldn't notice he was being corrected at all. "Anything for the Prophet." Mariane emphasized, blue eyes twinkling. "...I am the student to represent Beauxbatons." she confirmed. |

"Ah, thank you for the correction," said Charlie, keeping his features as straight as possible. He had to admit, Miss Quicompoix had a strange power of attraction, but in Charlie's line of work, one meets all kinds, and Mariane was not the first attractive woman Charlie had ever interviewed or worked with. If he hadn't slept with that lovely raven haired, well-endowed woman from the Department of International Magical Law Enforcement who had made her interest in him extremely clear during an interview six years ago concerning the British Ministry's continued disagreements with the Saudi Arabian Ministry over the use of magical flying carpets (most of the Ministries consider them muggle artifacts, and therefore illegal to enchant), then this woman child's flirtatious manner was certainly of no concern (not surprisingly, the woman from the Ministry's not-so-subtle hinting did not make it into the morning edition of the Prophet). Charlie was always the consumate professional. "Now," said Charlie, "Being from France, Miss Quicompoix, how do you find Britain? How do you find Hogwarts?" "Eet is very cold!" she exclaimed. "We are from the south of France, where eet is very warm and the weather is almost always agreeable! I have seen enough rain to last the rest of my life!" Mariane folded her arms underneath her chest. " 'Ogwarts 'as been very 'ospitable. The students are charming, the faculty are also welcoming. I do enjoy the more ancient campus here. Beauxbatons unveiled a new wing last..." Mariane turned to Madame. "...last spring.." Madame answered. "Oui. Hogwarts is a very nice school, but one cannot compare it to Beauxbatons." she purred. "The stunning campuses, the luxurious dormitories...Hogwarts is...well, not quite in the same category. Eet is very comfortable here, though. Very...quaint. I have longed to see where my seester has chosen to educate herself." Mariane answered. |

From the way she spoke, Charlie had gotten the impression that she certainly favored her own country and school far better than Britain and Hogwarts. Still, Charlie did not comment. It was not the journalist's place to judge openly. "You have a sister that goes to Hogwarts?" he asked, "so your family does have ties to Britain, then?" |

Mariane flipped her hair. "Oui, she's in the 'ouse of Hufflepuff, in the fifth year. It's a revolting story, actually. Our parents met at a Triwizard's Tournament eons ago. Maman, a Beauxbatons student, and Papa, also in the 'ouse of Poufsouffle." she informed in a monotone voice, inspecting the ends of her silver hair. "Our father is a dual-citizen here as well as in France. I guess you could say we 'ave ties here, oui." Mariane said, inspecting her fingernails. She looked up, as if suddenly she'd forgotten something. "Her name is Katriane, my seester." |

"And how do you view your chances in this tournament? You must certainly be a powerful witch if you were chosen out of all your school mates," said Charlie. There was something that was bothering him about this young woman, however. And he'd wanted to ask, because it seemed likely, but insinuating such a thing would be a terrible insult if it turned out not to be true. And even if it were, perhaps such a person would want to keep that information private. There are those, after all, who may not take kindly to that kind of information. And yet, Charlie was intrigued. It made sense, in a way, considering the alluring aura that seemed to surround her, as well as the unusual wand core--those creatures do not give up their hairs to just anyone who seeks them. Perhaps he could convince her to answer off the record...He contemplated this as he wrote more notes on his pad, awaiting Mariane's response. |

"I think that I'm just as capable as the other two champions." Mariane's icy eyes flashed. "Just because I'm not completely human doesn't mean I won't pose a threat to ze other two." she snapped. "All I can say is that ze Goblet chose me for a reazon. It chose me out of all my classmates, so I obviously have something that...sets me above the herd." she said, practically oozing charm, giving him a small wink--his previous question forgotten. Mariane seemed to love to talk about herself. That was the way you could distract her. With herself. "Are zees all se questions? I have to do my relaxation techniques before ze task." |

"Not completely human?" asked Charlie. I knew it, "There wouldn't be, perhaps, Veela in your blood, would there?" he inquired knowingly, "You don't have to answer. And I can strike it from the record if you want me to." After this, he only had Durmstrang, and Anglema, the Nightshade boy. Then perhaps he could get a nap before he was to spectate at the first task for the Prophet. |

Tristan checked his watch and saw they were running behind schedule. They were supposed to begin the task at 11am, it was now 11:35. "Professors? When are we meant to start this?" He was sure the other two Champions would misconstrue his question for nerves but rather he was just getting antsy now. The longer he put this off for, the longer he would doubt his abilities. |

"And I would like it stricken, oui. I'd hate to 'ave 'Ogwarts bombarded by a mob of my admirers. And my sister too, I suppose." Mariane commented. "But I do sink it's rather obvious, don't you, monsieur?" Mariane said, giving him a flirtaious wink. She also turned to the professors. "I echo Monsieur Nightshade--when is this to begin?" Mariane leaned her elbow up on Tristan's right shoulder and looked at Madame imploringly. |

Anglema squeezed in between Tristan and Mariane, moving the French girl away and ignoring her glower. "So sorry dear--one quick question, Nightie." Angelma's lavender eyes lit up. "Oh, that's precious! I can call you Nightie as I call Nate, Natie! Fantasmic!" she crowed, before snapping her fingers. "Now Nightie, I just have one question from our readers at the Quibbler then you can go off and do wonderfully. We've got faith in you, and are intrinsically rooting for you since you're a Hogwarts student and lets face it--" Angelma gestured to herself, "They turn out amazing specimens, don't they?" she patted his cheek, then snapped at her quill to begin it's stenography. "What would you say to your fans and admirers? Because--"Angelma whispered so only he could hear--"The Quibbler backs you one hundred and thirty-six percent!" She peered at him, purple eyes wide as she awaited his reply. |

He stared back at those eyes that were boring into his, the occasional coloured dreadlocked getting in the way, "I suppose just thanks for their support and I hope I do Hogwarts proud! Don't write a guy off just because he's 2 years younger too." He was reasonably happy with how the interviews had gone, feeling there was nothing obvious that could be misconstrued by either of the journalists. |
